The story will be set in modernity. Most likely the year will be twenty-nineteen, or sometime in the early twenty-twenties.

Behind the Mirror, magic is universal. Technically, every sorcerer is capable of casting every spell. However, some sorcerers are innately better are casting certain disciplines of magic. For example, ameliorators would be naturally gifted at healing spells.

As part of the CS, you will have to pick an area of sorcery your character will specialise in. This is completely your choice. I would ask that people run their ideas by me first before posting. I will try to say yes to as many as possible, but there will be disciplines that will be rejected.

Sorcery itself is inheritable. Students of the Academy who have a close blood-connection to previous attendees are known as legacies. There's nothing special about legacies, but some consider themselves to be the crème de la crème. Others would say that legacies have ideas above their station. Magical specialities can follow Mendelian patterns of inheritance but an individual's speciality is more commonly individualistic.

As for mortals. Well, it is not uncommon to find mortals capable of seeing beyond the Mirror. The commonest reason is that sorcerers can live in mortal cities rather than the Citadel, and their children will inevitably be sorcerers. Most mortal sorcerers will live their lives unaware of their latent abilities; some will learn to control magic at the Citadel; and, a very small percentage will be offered scholarships to the Academy. Prejudices against mortal sorcerers are seldom seen, particularly as more and more Citadel sorcerers move to the more technologically advanced mortal realm.

Sorcery primarily involves speech and hand gestures. Some disciplines may have other mechanisms of casting spells, such as the enchantment runic symbols.

I was reading the spell deciplines and I thinking of going conjugation. I wondering would not snowball spell fall under conjugation. Pretty much any elemental could? Something my character should discuss with the teacher I suppose.

Hmmmm Conjuration based on what Ive seen typically covers the summoning or transporting of other beings from other realms and planes to your location and service. At least in terms of like Elder Scrolls. I think in this rps case Snowball/elemental magic might be more under martial magic? ThatGuyWithSouvlaki

Also as well with the status of relationships of various forms are we permitted to create prior established ones as well with the other players to involve in our background histories? Lastly, will items such as tomes, wands and or staffs be permitted to use in the substitution of gestures and all?

The lancirus spell is a throwing spell. It can be used for throwing more than just snowballs. But, the creation of snowballs to throw would certainly be conjuration.

I will not be including inter-planar magic in this RP, my apologies. Conjuration in other worlds, like Elder Scrolls, does relate to summoning creatures and entities, but in this story it is more similar to the conjuration depicted in Harry Potter.

I can expand upon the colleges if people are interested in their backgrounds. They won’t play a huge role in the story, but I can add additional information to the Lore page.

Yeah, absolutely. If you want to establish a historical relationship between your character and another player’s character, then by all means proceed. That said, I don’t know how many characters will be accepted for the final RP. There seems to be a lot of interest - which I’m so grateful for. So, unless the relationship is key to their background, I would keep that section relatively short.

No problem at all. Can I ask: what kind of information would you like to see? What would you like to know about each of the colleges?

Mainly I would love to know what each college is perhaps known for and like what kind of individuals often graced the halls? Since it does somewhat remind me of the Harry Potter realm of their houses, I'd like to know what kind of house they are, what their known for and just some basic info as that.
