Shai
Queen of the Goblins, Traveler of Timelords
Beating.
Raven heard a calm, but firm, drum. Beating up to its climax. Slowly rising, slowly getting faster.
Da-dum.
Soft, yet strong. It kept building, until she couldn't take it anymore.
She's ssssleeeeping... An unwelcome voice said. A part of her self that was no longer in control. Voices, memories, locked in the deepest parts of her, trying to be free through dreams.
Trying to remind her.
She felt her form fidget, then flicker, as she came to that realization. They're her subconscious, under her submission. She's been secretly allowing this.
Da-dum. Da-dum. Da-dum. The beating of the drum.
Constant, calm as the waves, yet with just as much violence. Firm, and unshaking.
Clossser then ever. The slithering voice said. She didn't want this anymore, she was sick of it.
So she woke up.
Raven heard her heart monitor going off its rails. Her heart was beating so unnaturally fast. She felt a firm hand, holding onto hers, and she looked over to meet the eyes of the man she dared to love. She smiled, just a flash, just as a sign that she was okay.
She heard footsteps outside, and knew they were coming for her. She wasn't in the mood for people, so she used her magic and blocked the door.
"How long have you been here?" She asked him. She wanted to go home, yet she wasn't ready. She wanted to go to her room, but she didn't think she'd ever feel safe in there again.
One of her shields, gone.
Again...
She was sure she was meant to sleep with Starfire now, though she was sure her snoring would drive her insane. She really wanted to sleep with Beast Boy. She wanted him to hold her at night, and help her fight her inner, uncontrollable demons.
But no. It wasn't meant to be.
And she was fine with that... Right?
