Tales of the RDF - OOC

Well, it's your choice to make. @Beowulf if you want to keep the old Defender, go for it. I personally like the new one, but it's not my character, and I will not railroad you into what you don't want

I mainly don't like the lasers, because I don't think it has the same impact as ballistic or railgun weapons.

But yeah, now that I look at it, the Defender has right now, not the laser one, is better then the other one. Armor is about the same, greater at times for the old Defender, and the damage output is just better. Plus the SHORAD is a garunteed, what, plus 4 or 5? And that affects everyone. The only thing the new Defender has over the old is the missile system.

After looking at it for a longer period of time and just procrastinating, I have decided to stick with the old Defender for now. Final answer, locking it in.

Procrastination - the sure sign of a true Red Panda! =)

Precisely my point, Beo - I have admired them both since you put them up. =)

Red Pandas, if I didn't know better I'd think I was one. Now good night, I have my one and only class tomorrow at 1pm, so I need my shut eye.

Here is a serious question for you guys. Do you want to go airborne and switch over to veritech fighters instead of destroids? You would be in the original VF series fighters, capable of keeping up with Taniya and her FPA. It would require a short training montage to pick up the skills that I would give you instead of making you pay for each one as you level up.

Free training? Free Veritech Fighters? Guys, that's one generous offer. Your squad leader's player approves (for what it's worth). =)

I would use the VF-1R variant, which gives a 20% increase in armor and a 25% boost to engine power for speed. Then you get to occasionally add the strap on packs of the Armored Veritech and Super Veritech, which gives a boost to armor and missiles.

Well, if I go with the new FPA and you guys don't upgrade, I really think Taniya will be too powerful. Since Connor's not the flying type and Taniya is, Beo, do you mind if Taniya goes with the VF-1R Veritech option? I love Veritech Fighters!

Just so the two of you know, Kaerri is in the loop here too. We've been chatting about the changes.

Do you have the 2e Macros book? If not, I can post the stats for you guys.

Please do? I don't think I have that one.

Done, along with the descriptions for the new Armored VF and Super VF. They are at the bottom of the Items tab.

All the added armor and speed boosts have already been calculated in for the VF-1R post.

That's one awesome Veritech Fighter! I wish short range missiles were allowed on the hardpoints. I take it anything Taniya decides on will have a second seat for Barbara?

I find myself on the fence concerning the choice of Female Power Armor or VF-1R. In-character, Taniya would choose the FPA over the Veritech, but I'm not sure she'd be too powerful in it, hence my own inclination toward the VF-1R.

Thoughts?

I think Taniya would jump at the opportunity to get in a suit of Power Armor. So I'm going to say power armor.

The more I think about it, unless everyone is willing to switch to airborne units, we should all stick to the destroids. Taniya can then go with the new Tomahawk or keep in her old one. I don't want to force someone to make change to their characters. @Dannigan, if you don't mind, I'll do some storyteller magic and say that the new FPA never showed, and it was a Tomahawk instead.

Thoughts?

I'm having trouble keeping up with all the options, choices, decisions that keep popping up, not to mention all the IC posts I haven't yet reacted to. Still, I don't see why it has to be all air or all ground, especially given the nature of Veritechs. Can't Taniya have one of those nifty Transformer-types as a compromise? Then she can be on the ground with us, but take off when the situation calls for it.

I think it's a total drag.

We've got one character who has no flying ambitions whatsoever and we have another who's dream is to return to the skies any way she can...

Sherwood, as a fellow long-time Game Master, I can definitely see where you're coming from, but I'd rather shelve Taniya and start up another character than play one whose sole dream can never be realized or ask another player to change his or her own character's preferences. That's just not fair for me to ask Beowulf to change Connor any more than someone asking me to change Taniya's dream.

We're all here to have fun together. It's best when everyone's definition of fun meshes, even if it means sacrifice on my part. Those are my thoughts at this moment, anyway...
