Tales of the RDF - OOC

I will never force you to drop a character, but if you choose to do so, I will help you as much as I can. If you want to go with the VF pilot option with Taniya, we can do that. After all, I like Taniya. Another option is the new UEEF Officers Pod from the book. It is flight capable, but much more a 'destroid' than the FPA, possibly the best of both worlds in a compromise. Give me a little and I'll have the new Pod typed up for ya.

If you want to make up a new character, that is workable. I can have a new character come in with just a little bit of work on the story.

Oh, I don't imagine Taniya would take a Male Officer's Pod over that sexy VF-1R, but I should see it first. She's just like that. =)

So... to kind of hop back to Kaerri's question - you don't mind running a game with Destroids and Veritech fighters?

The Officer Pod is not gender exclusive; both men and women pilot the original and the new UEEF unit.

Oh, I can believe it given that the majority of the UEEF are human, but take it from pure-blooded Zentraedi who have been around for a couple of decades. I imagine they (Taniya included) might have their own reservations. Kind of like the whole European "satchel" fad in Real Life. =)

Concerning characters, I did not mean to imply that you (or anyone) was forcing me to change characters. I was just saying that I'm willing to sacrifice if it comes to that. It doesn't look like it's going to if you're willing to allow Veritechs and Destroids in the same group. =)

The old Zentraedi Officer Pod is used by both male and female pilots. Its only the powered armor units that are gender specific.

I am now posting the UEEF Pod now. Let me know what you think of it. It is much more a destroid than the FPA, so it will fit in with the rest of the team better. But I can work it with you taking a VF instead if you don't like it

What?! I didn't know that. See? That's why you're the Storyteller of our Robotech games! Or in other words, thanks for clearing that up. =)

I am eager to see the (unisex and not power armor) Officer's Pod. =)

I give of myself to others; its just what I do. It is much more balanced to the other destroids, and it is a nasty piece of work.

That's for sure! What a beast!

Silly math question: Is the dual-blast damage correct on the HPC-90's? The HPC-50's dual-blast is that of both cannons (1d4x10+5 singly, 2d4x10+10 doubly). Shouldn't the HPC-90's do 2d8x10+20 (1d8x10+10 times two)?

a single blast does the 1d8x10+10, and a dual blast does 2d8x10; these numbers are straight from the book. I can only guess as to the reason why it is not truly double the damage.

Also, here is a laugh for you; in the book, the nickname for the Officer Pod is 'The Beast'.

Re: The Beast. Hah! That's great. =)

Either way, I think this Officer's Pod is an excellent compromise between what Taniya and Connor want, plus it promotes game balance. Let's do it! Thanks, Sherwood!

Now how can we help Kaerri with her situation?

Ok, the Officer Pod it is! I'll edit my post IC to reflect that.

Now, if Kaerri wants to make some changes to her sheet, we can work on that. To make things fair, everyone would be getting some additional training time to add the same number of skills to your sheets that she has to get if she wants the VF pilot option. Second choice is to replace characters, but I would hope to avoid that if possible. I like the interactions going on between the team so far. So, Kaerri, what strikes your interest?

I'm sorry. I have no idea what you're asking about. What changes to my sheet?

Dann gave me the impression that you were unsatisfied with your character; am I wrong? Is there anything you want for your character, or is the new Spartan a good fit for Eadric?

No, I'm not at all unsatisfied with my character as he is. I've just gotten lost in all the options that have been put into play the past couple days and I'm not entirely sure what's going on with the game in general.

Sherwood, reread my post, bud? I was unsatisfied with the notion that one character wants to fly (Taniya) and the other doesn't (Connor). I never said Kaerri wasn't happy with Eadric.

Concerning changing characters, I was just saying that it is unfair of me to ask Beowulf to change his character (to have the desire to fly). So, instead of playing a permanently ground-bound dreamer, I was open to the option of writing up another character.

But now that we've reached a compromise, everything's good again. =)

Ah. My bad. I just want to make sure that everyone is having fun. Good to know that all is right in the world.

Well, I'm fine but Kaerri's feeling lost...

There's been so much discussed and brought up and offered and suggested over the past few days, and I really don't have the background to keep up with it all. I'm glad you guys are having fun getting things settled, but it's rather confusing to me.

How about this: you guys sort out where we're going, what we're doing, and how we're getting there. Then you can tell me if the Spartan's good enough for it. I'm not concerned about balance (unless you, as the Storyteller, are). I don't mind bringing a pistol to a missile fight, as it were, as long as the pistol's got range enough to reach the bad guys.

If you don't think the Spartan will fit in the group as it's going to be, let me know what will (preferably just one or two options, please) and I'll upgrade from there.

You have the choice of the new or the old Spartan. The new one is faster, has better armor, and has a good array of weapons. It will fit in just fine with the old style Defender that Connor is using, the new Tomahawk that is coming in with your newbie, and the Officer Pod that Taniya now has. It uses the same MECT skill as the old Spartan, so you don't have to worry about using a skill selection for it. Going into a final showdown with the Malcontents, it will serve you well.

Hey, Sherwood? Kaerri and I have been talking about that Zentraedi particle beam cannon we captured. What skills does one need to make ammunition for that? We'd like to (incoming pun!) give it a shot! <---- 8D

Since it is an energy weapon, you just need to be able to recharge/replace the magazine, simple enough for you to do since there are still a few full sized Zentraedi soldiers writing for the RDF.

Please note that I am ignoring that horrid pun. Lol
