Tales of Ristafel

Really?

Because, you know, fighting the guy who is being a jerk to her and getting him to shut up seems like a pretty good way to help Aryenn out. I mean, Vallen tried to pretty much murder a dude for groping a girl earlier, so you'd think he would flip out on Ajax. Especially when doing so would probably comfort Aryenn since she's apparently leaving because Ajax said mean things?

I'll be honest, I'm not super clear on what exactly made Aryenn feel like everyone was mistreating her. I mean, there's several polite people trying to help her out, it's clearly one isolated guy who is intentionally being a dick and another who is being a dick on accident, so it seems pretty weird that she just up and leaves over something this trivial.

Why are you getting mad at Hachi? He's the one who led people out of the bar. Conversely, you just led El Saldo back into the tavern.

And I don't think Emerald's and Laria's players are MIA; it's far more likely they're just asleep. You shouldn't be so frustrated when there's an easy solution right in front of us.

Our characters are too vastly different to be adventuring at all really.
Isn't that the wonder of humanity? People with such different backgrounds working together for a shared goal, striving beside each other, each with their own personal reasons, and eventually succeeding? To me, the more difference, the more fun I'll have.

Like Ajax thinks, a victory won without working for it is not a victory at all. The characters are still getting acclimated to one another - Lily still hasn't met half the cast. Give it a bit longer to work out.

Technically El Saldo led Gustav back into the tavern, but that was mainly so Gustav didn't get turned into gazpacho.

I'm interested to see how this unfolds, to be honest.

Y'know this'd be as simple as someone actually talking to Ajax not like what he perceives to be some sanctimonious blowhard that doesn't know jack about how the world works and more his language of "Hey buddy, forget that woman and her deer, come on, lets go eat then fight zombies in a cave or go to sea or something, you'll fuck it up if he messes with you again".

Or Ayrenn actually, really standing up to Ajax rather than letting the deer do as it pleases then fleeing when he's mad at the animal. Or at least siding with her friend (since she doesn't see Kyubi as a pet but as friend despite what Ajax thinks) and trying to fight Ajax together or something. He'd respect that. He'd definitely think it's queer and getting too attached to a beast, but at least you're actually sticking for yourself and your weirdo beliefs rather than running away while an annoying religious guy tries to wax philosophic and some dude that seems to do anything for womens' attention holds him back.

yeah, sorry, I just was really enjoying this until now. and by the way zerohex seems to also need to be reminded this is just a game, he seems angrier than me.

I too can enjoy that, and i understand what you mean, but what i meant was we are all to different, and Ajax is never going to like Gustav, and he is most likely going to end up beaten into "gazpacho".

Ill admit, it can work out, i am just getting frustrated in general with how things are going down, and i think a few toes were stepped on, IRL wise, so if we can all just get along, and keep things going, and hopefully come to a comment consequences, then we can work something out of this.

@The Velveteen Rabbit

So, just one thing I notice you seem to keep doing: you keep puppeting people. Like when Kyubi tackled Derg's character from behind and you wrote in that Vallen was pinned or when the deer took stabs at Ajax or Hadi and you just assumed they hit. You just wrote the impacts in, and that's a big no because characters can dodge, tank, react in a myriad of ways. This latest post is a pretty big offender though, lemme explain why.

Your character does not have enhanced strength or resilience in any way, nor does she have any sort of hand to hand combat listed. It's not part of the CS nor is it a given thing about the species like with dragonkin. Ajax does have hand to hand fighting listed, in fact, it's his combat focus, he's very good at it. It's not realistic for her to be succesful in this very telegraphed attack because Ajax has a myriad of counters he could apply and the skill to use them, especially when compared to his totally untrained opponent.

Ajax will let her obvious grab and punch hit because hey, she's showing chutzpah and that's good, no glory in smacking this obviously untrained and admittedly provoked woman. But him taking damage and getting dragged down is also not realistic given his CS vs Ayrenn's CS. Ajax is, to put it succintly, fuckstrong and tough. It's right there in his CS and, as I've said before, basically his entire thing. He's a melee behemoth. I'll gladly let the punch land but it's not going to deal any damage, it's not going to draw blood and your character sure as hell cannot pull Ajax down.

In fact, if I were to call for realism, Ayrenn's fist should probably be shattered or her wrist bent into uselessness. She just hit an immovable, incredibly tough guy that might as well be a wall full-swing with no training, no super toughness and nothing to safeguard her hand. It might be surprising but fists are actually quite fragile, it's why pro boxers wrap them in tape to avoid injury and a lot of martial arts teach palm strikes, they're just easier to throw full-force without ruining your hand.

You can try and argue this, but the fact of the matter is that your character does not have any means for her punch to be effective against Ajax listed in the CS, while Ajax has every way to make it ineffective. I'm not saying he won't take the punch, he will, but it'd be nice if you avoided writing in your attacks always landing from now own, because most other characters are perfectly capable of defending themselves.

@Zerohex To make things clear, i have no problem with you or how you roleplay, i respect how well you keep in character. Having a big handling brawler is cool. I apologize if anything i did seemed out of line, but I have been frustrated with this RP to the point of giving myself a headache.

@Nautilus I think you are an interesting person, but you calling people out i think is only making matters worse

@ComradeSenpai I wasn't mad at your character really, i was just venting all my frustrations. I like your character, as with everyone's. They are all highly creative and interesting in their own ways.

To all, i apologize for the crappy role playing on my part, i am aware i have had a few mistakes here and there.

I hope we can all just keep claim and get along, and try to work things out and get on with the RP. I actully like the rag-tag group we have, and back to what @CallSign was saying, it would be fun to work things out as we go. I think some of us, me included, toke things a bit to personal, and want to address them. Not knowing any of you personally makes it hard to tell what your intents are while role playing. Which, i would like to think we are all respectable people, i mean, we all do share a common interest after all.

my point being, we area ll getting upset with one another, and if this RP is going to continue, i think we as people have to agree to get along, before we can really keep role playing and make a grand tale.

I've no problem with anyone in this roleplay or what they're doing beyond that issue I just posted about above, and even that's no biggie as long as it doesn't keep happening. Y'know, just in case it needs to be said.

Darksoul, bro, relax. It's just a game, no need to be mad. Just go along with the flow. I don't actually fancy splitting the party, hence why I gave Ayrenn several easy ways out, but if characters don't get along they don't get along man. Maybe they can get along later if they stop doing these things that piss their companions off or find some common ground or at least acknowledge that this guy's useful in some way or somethin

I am not really that angry, i am just getting frustrated, and giving myself a headache. As long as we all get along as people, then its cool. I understand that characters are not going to get along, and that is fine by me.

Eh, I made her punch Ajax to show she isn't weak. If you would have dodged or evaded, I felt like it would've did the opposite. I can edit it.

I honestly know your guy is strong. I don't care about how tough he is at all. Just don't act like he's the toughest guy on the planet and we'll be good.

Like i said, i think we all need to make friends as people before anything. I'm going to chill out for the night, and i suggest for everyone else to do the same, even if you don't think you have a problem, just give it time. We can all get along. just everyone try to chill out and try to understand how others might be upset. We are all strangers to one another, so acting like a jackass in game, might be taken the wrong way. Even if it is purely in character. If anything, you should be proud, you did a convincing job!

This is also hard for me, since this is the first time i attempted playing the part of a pacifist, although i am enjoying the different diplomatic thinking i have to do!

@The Velveteen Rabbit

That's fine and all but there's absolutely no way her grab and punch can do anything at all to a guy built around wrestling monsters to death. I explained as much in my post, with some level of detail. It boils down to "my CS says my guy shouldn't take damage even if he stands there and lets the punch hit (which he would) and your CS has nothing that would let this punch be effective".

And, honestly, instahitting and puppeting someone else's character is kind of rude. See Ajax's fight with Lily, I didn't have his leg kick land automatically and cripple her, her player decided to let it happen because it made sense in the given situation and that's just playing fair. Hell, Lily could've dodged and it still would've been playing fair because she has rogue skills.

I wholly intend to go with the flow and let Ayrenn grab hold of Ajax's "collar" (it's more of a loose robe that only goes up the left shoulder and leaves his right pectoral exposed) and throw a punch at his face. I do. Totally fine with it. What I'm not fine with is my character's strengths being blatantly ignored while your character is suddenly strong enough to harm him, even though there's nothing in your CS that could be used for this.

Catch my drift here? Controlling other people's characters and deciding what your attack does or doesn't do for them without letting them defend themselves is poor form, as is having powers and abilities beyond your CS' scope. How angry would you have been if Ajax had just punched Kyubi to death when it first tried to gore him or if Hadi had used his vast expertise in dealing with wild animals to, I don't know, hamstring the deer rather than just dodge and move away? How annoyed would you have been if Ajax had suddenly just intimidated Kyubi into following him because reasons?

Hiimdaisy's Metal Gear Solid comics. It's the president (think it was the president) grabbing Raiden's crotch while screaming and Raiden's also screaming. It makes about as much sense with context and without being parodied. Funny since this game's featured so much groping.

@The Velveteen Rabbit

Wow that's...did you read my posts? I explained stuff and everything. That is nowhere near what I wanted you to do, what would've made sense for you to do. All you had to do was say she charged down Ajax and reached for his robe to get a good grip while throwing a punch right at his dumb ugly face, screaming whatever it was you wanted to scream at him. See how that's the same action but without assuming your attack is succesful, controlling what my character does for me or ignoring his powers?

The punch wouldn't have been effective, for the same reasons I've covered twice now, but Ajax would've let himself get grabbed and hit, because Ayrenn finally acted with some guts and because it works with the narrative flow. He wouldn't really like her but at least he'd somewhat respect her. It was a very simple thing that would've let the party remain more or less cohesive and truck on together and bring about some level of development for both our characters.

EDIT: Not to mention people have already responded, quite well, to Ayrenn punching Ajax in the face. And it's not even about the punch being effective, it's about her actually doing it and fighting back against what amounts to a big overbearing bully.

rants to someone about controlling other peoples characters, then tells that very same person, knowing nothing about what it's like to be in their characters head that they should have done a specific action.I'm leaving too.

I'm making her leave because I'm probably leaving this roleplay. With the GM gone, it's not stable. I've been on this site for a long time now. I know that any roleplay that gives me a headache isn't one I should stay in. Especially if I have a bad temper.

So, excuse me if I didn't make your character respect mine.
