Tales of Ristafel

lol ya. I'm waiting for CallSign to reply to that cuz that seems a good point story-wise for Vallen to return.

Assuming, everyone is just agreeing on heading to the port? I will ahve to read up on everything, but for now, even more blindly following.

@Darksoul180 how does your character know Ajax's name? He only introduced himself to Hadi in a personal conversation. It'd make sense if your guy had reacted to the dude coming out of a barrel and paid attention to the situation but since he was one of the people that didn't...

To be honest, i just got home form work, and just skimmed the 4-5 pages i missed, I assumed somewhere in that names would have been mentioned, i could just pull some god talking bullshit, but ill just edit my post. Again apologies, i just wished to post to get back into the story line. It has been a long day.

It is hard to not get left behind when you have a 12 hour work day. I fixed things up, and i apologize, i thought names were spoken in passing. Also, i would have taken attention to the Barrel scene if i was online for it. Also, don't be so quick to judge please! I am trying here.

So which of Gustav's powers would those divine bandages fall under?

Holy Scripture, Creature Manipulation, Dream-Scaping, Divine Protection, or Purging Nightmares?

Holy scripture esc things, mixed with others, they just are cloth with holy words scribbled on them, same as the call signs. I am kinda going with the flow, if there is an over all problem, then i will gladly drop, since these are minor things, and i feel as if I am being closely watched at this point. For reasons which are unknown. Gustav is a fellow to adventure and try and solve things diplomatically, i figure he is probably going to get punched in the face and knocked out once anything happens anyway.

I am also thinking up more and more back story and lore for him as i go. I didn't have any idea where any of this would go, and i am just going with the flow. I made sure to an nonce that he had no more random trinkets, so i wouldn't be able to do these kinds of things often, It was the just the matter of asking Crea for help. Which i was also planning on having it back fire or have no effect at some point. To me, these small tid bits have been more or less blessings of sorts, as a nature traveling priest would have picked up. Naturally as a person i did not think all of this out while creating my character, and i was hoping to have a little bit of wiggle room, considering he is not a fighter, and will get killed in most dire situations.

So i believe it would fall under holy scriptures and Divine intervention. I was believing it to be the goddess's power being lent to help. If problems are had, i will delete my post, i have no problems with that and do not wish to have complications with people, again, my apologies. Honestly just attempting to get along. I am understanding of my character being disliked, but please do not dislike me as a role player. I just simply go with the flow of the character. It isn't like i am adding facts of him being able to call upon the power of destruction and ruin the earth around him. Just addressing a wound with a small blessing.

Also sorry if this sounds like i am going on the defensive here. Though it seems i am being reminded aggressively rather than lent a few friendly tips and pointers, I can understand criticism, but i also feel as if there is a problem had with me as a player. And honestly I just do not wish to fight with fellow players. I am not the kind of person to fight back much, considering that will only worsen the situation.

@Darksoul180

Little bit of nitpicking, your priest thinks about being used to getting laughed at for his occupation and belief in Crea but the overview outright states that most of the population in Ristafel believes in her. It's the only widespread religion and all the others are "not worthy of mentioning due to their lack of large population". I should think Ajax's reponse isn't all that common.

"I am understanding of my character being disliked, but please do not dislike me as a role player."

Neither dislike is held by me. I'd just prefer if you didn't make so many assumptions in your posts. Lily has a Bag of Holding full of loot from quests, but you don't see her pulling out the solutions to all her problems. Part of the fun of roleplaying is the difficulty of certain situations and overcoming them.

There is no glory without strife.

@Darksoul180, I can understand why you'd feel attacked, but that doesn't mean your actions shouldn't be brought up. I've seen a lot of people make up little powers and later use that as a precedent to justify making up powers on the fly, which they'll then escalate into being a walking god who can do anything, ever, whenever they feel like. I'd appreciate it if we nipped that in the bud right now before it becomes a problem.

Besides that, you'd be stepping in on Vallen's niche as the healing powers guy, which seems a bit unfair to Derg.

Well, there are a good number of character with healing powers. @The Velveteen Rabbit , for one. My Crone, though she really goes more for "slap it in a splint and rub herbs on it"-type healing. @DergTheDergon, obviously.

Well, my point was not to be a god, nor stampede on others healing powers. I also enjoy not having ansews to everything. It was more or less just looking for a way to greet these people. And a way to show off his powers. Though, i can understand why it could be a problem. I again, apologize and hope everything is in order now. I don't know what role my character really takes, although, we shall see i guess. I will stay within most limits now.

Also, to reply to the comment of him begin used to being laughed at for his occupation. The Priest made it his job to travel finding people of belief of the pagan religions, and convert them to his religion, so i don't think it to be outlandish that he has gotten that reaction a lot. He was also unnerved by the laughter, but it did not wreck his demeanor.

Honestly, i wanted this character to have the personality that his god will solve anything, and him to be brave heart and always jumping in over his head, attempting to solve situations his way, even if that meant him, well getting knocked out, because he was as week as a twig to anyone with a slight combat experience. Though given the time to prepare he could hold his own in a fist fight, knowing simple versions of take downs to impede the enemy, while not harming them a ton. Which, would not work in most cases. For example, he would attempt to knock someone out if it would stop escalating violence. Although, most will over power him, and Ajax could probably snap him like a stick. Although, if Ajax were to attack him, he would not cower in fear, he would stand up to him, and then probably die painfully.

These were the ideas i have for my character and his personality. I do not wish to be seen as taking a godlike role, because i don't enjoy that sort of role playing, and i also don't mean to have an solution to everything, but some every day adventuring supplies should have been listed before hand. So that was a mistake on my part. As long as we all get along, it works.

I also agree that wrongful actions should be brought up, just try to do so in a more friendly way. I also didn't enjoy Darg's way of bringing up Ajax's character, although, he didn't mean it in a bad way either.

See, there's the thing though. It's not "showing off his powers". It's actively making up new powers for the express purpose of showing off.

Look, I understand, you want your guy to interact with people and be all saintly and such, and that's cool. I can respect that. What I'm not cool with, though, is making up new abilities on the fly. That, along with blatant metagaming, are the two things that I really cannot stand, so if everyone in this game could do their level best to keep those things to a minimum, I'd really appreciate it.

So, I've dropped a character in. Is it possible to get a quick overview of where everyone is so I can slot in with a minimum of fuss?

Oh my, a rival religious character!

Well, everyone just met up. Most are still in the tavern talking and discussing, we are about to head off to the port and start our adventure.
