Fantasy T.O.M.E: The Terrain of Magical Expertise

Grimm sighed, looking back at Penance, shaking his head. He raised an eyebrow as if to ask 'Are you sure?' as he looked up as the dungeon gate boss loomed up towards them, with stats that looked to almost dwarf both of theirs combined. This caused Grimm to sigh. "Great..." She mumbled, finally speaking. "I had to wander to one of these dungeons..."

Penance looked at Grimm a little shocked "you're a chick...?" He asked ignoring the boss then finally shrugged "eh cool." He looked up at the boss finally acknowledging its existence and aimed a regular pistol at it "boom." He fired the gun and one single bullet with the word 'ugly mofo' scratched into it went straight into the monsters eye

Grimm blinked, remembering that someone was there. "That would have done nothing..." She said, sighing, as the monsters HP barely went down. "They have billions of HP, so..." She said, getting her sword out, and lunging at the boss. "Most attacks will do nothing."

Penance growled and created the giant sword from earlier and soon it was incased in black flame "well I guess imma have to pull out off the stops then huh?" He was completely unfazed by the fact he was outclassed and ran straight for the beast and sent multiple slashes to its legs

"That would normally be a..." Grimm started, before the giant beast swung it's arm at him, back handing him and sending him flying. "Bad choice..." She finished, sighing as she move to attack the beast again.

MoistNugget, seeing as how he was with Grimm and Penance all this time, cheerfully entered the dungeon alongside them. Seeing as how there was no penalty for death or, indeed, any demonstration of what these beasts were or what they looked like, MoistNugget could only laugh internally at the comically-oversized chimpanzee with a The Miz hairdo that Penance and Grimm were fighting. Moist's time to shine would come later. For now, he happily allowed Grimm and Penance to continue to fight.

(Imagine the beast like one of the giant monkeys from DBZ... no it doesn't have the same weakness...)

Penance laid against the wall and sighed "this is rather annoying....upload" he sank into the wall disappearing. He soon reapeared falling down the ceiling and landed infront of the monster with a few burn marks "gotcha a present" he said smugly. Lava then started to pour out of the ceiling above the beast. Penance laughed and brushed himself off "teleporting inside a volcano REALLY hurts. Especially bringing back its lava..."

Outside the dungeon, Daddy Liberty waited. He leaned up against the outer walls as he bid time for his MP to recover. "Should I bother?" Daddy_Liberty wondered.

Moist watched with disinterest as the now-burning Oozaru proceeded to be inconvenienced by the man-sized lava flow dribbling out of the ceiling. A tide of single-digit damage points flew off the Oozaru, now painfully aware that it only had several hundred-million hitpoints left.

Moist scratched the back of his head, and patiently waited.

Grimm sighed, shaking her head at him. It was then that the beast roared loudly, causing the lava to turn into rock. "Do you not understand how to fight dungeon gate monsters?" She asked, smacking Penance on the back of the head. "Very few things will affect them at all... you can't fight them. The main goal right now is to actually get past it and into the dungeon."

Penance rubbed the back of his head and growled "well EXCUSE me for trying to have fun!! Besides if we do best it won't we get a crap ton of EXP?? Why not try and get it now?"

Grimm sighed, shaking her head. "We would..." She admitted, sighing. "But last time me and my group tried that, it took us almost 28 hours to take one down."

Penance facepalmed and sighed "fine fine fine we'll do it your way! How would you like to avoid it...?"

Moist cracked his knuckles, and got to work. One of the best things about this online game was that, to remove anything that could make the game less fun and active, the developers never included cooldowns. As such, any player could activate their attacks as fast as the system could process them. In the heat of the chaos provided by the creature activating its special ability and forcing the system to process a metric shitload of particle effects and physics objects, Moist would easily be able to do what he was doing right now.

Moist cast a Delayed Widespread Combustion. Then he cast another. And another. And another. Dozens of Delayed Widespread Combustion circles carpeted the area, turning everything a blinding red color and overwhelming the soundscape with awful beeps and pings. Already, the game's servers were being taxed. And then the Delayed Widespread Combustion circles' countdowns ended.

The entire arena exploded, several times over. The overall effect was harmless, due to the lack of friendly fire and the boss's general invincibility, but it had a much worse effect: it lagged the instance to hell and back. Time slowed to a choppy, choppy halt as dozens of explosions were set off all at once. Rocks that were in mid-flight at the start of the event suddenly teleported all the way across the room, and the boss itself began appearing everywhere and nowhere at once. The dungeon itself was grinding to a halt.

Assuming anyone could move at this time, reaching the entrance would be trivial... if they could line themselves up properly.

(Actually... to avoid things like that... MMOs do have cool downs on skills., especially skills like that.)

(Considering how the only person to have ever demonstrated a skill having a cooldown was @Duwang, and people have been performing their attacks almost immediately after the first time they did it, and how I haven't really seen any cooldowns in TOME proper, I'm not sure how much that applies here)

((I'd imagine it's have to be in the character sheet for it to apply, and GM did approve. So as it stands, the only ability in-game currently that actually has any charge time/cool down/time limit or anything similar is my Burning Liberation. ;_; Also please do refrain from ooc bickering in the IC, it's hard to filter out.))

"W-w-h-a-a-a-t t-h-e f-f-f-f-f..." Daddy Liberty attempted to eke out, as he felt his own pixels convulsing on themselves. "My... oh my" Daddy Liberty said as he skipped a frame from leaning against the dungeon to peeking inside of it. Daddy Liberty DC'd. Somewhere, a man was looking at his computer tower and VR set-up. He was shaking his fist, before walking off to get a drink and some snacks.

(Well, there's that plus the general consensus is that the servers are actually large enough to handle something like that happening anyway... it may experience a couple of seconds of lag, but nothing as serious as what you described.)

Grimm sighed, shaking her head again. "I'm not going to tell you..." She said, angrily looking over at MoistKnugget. "Either of you... Because I came here to do things ALONE!" She said, almost yelling the last word. Sighing again, she used her great sword to swing over the monster, attacked it a couple of times, then landed behind it, quickly heading towards the door into the dungeon.

Penance growled and looked to the robot "I had things under control until you came back!!! Stay away!!" He said angrily he then sunk into the ground and appeared at the door and followed grimm

MoistNugget activated his Reverse-Directed Combustion system, and sailed majestically over the Oozaru, narrowly avoiding its massive paw. Moist slammed into the dungeon's entrance, and wormed his way through once again.

Once inside, Moist beamed at Penance and Grimm, very clearly satisfied at how frustrated they were at harmless pranks. Moist gave Grimm a reassuring pat on the back, thankful for her ingenuity and absolute sureness that she could handle a dungeon that she needed a full group to finish earlier.

Grimm sighed, shaking her head as she stood at the open dungeon door. "No." She said, pushing Penance back a bit. "You're not following me. Do you not understand the word alone? As in get away from me."

Penance growled at her then smirked "ok. I'll leave. On one condition." He gave her a toothy grin "when you're done here me and you fight. Just us. 1x1 no interferences. Sound good? Should be too hard for a beta tester hm?"

Grimm shook her head, softly. "No." She said, shaking her head again. "I don't do PvP." She said, before slamming the dungeon's entrance on them, which would cause them to enter a different instance then her.
