William was relieved when Ashley-May didn't voice any additional protest to the plan; he wasn't sure what they would have done if she hadn't gone along with it... and he wouldn't put it past Mac to knock her partner out and lock her away for safekeeping if it came down to the matter of her safety... and that of the child she now carried.
Elijah had expected Ashley-May to continue the argument, but was thankful she didn't. This situation was already difficult enough for both of them and he knew Mackenzie and William wouldn't take no for an answer, especially once they got their power couple mojo going.
"Drive in movie date."
Eli looked up at Mackenzie with a silent glare at the phrasing. Still, he couldn't fault the logic in the locale. No Pack of Purebloods -- even one as large and influential as this one -- would willingly risk public exposure on such a scale in their shifted form. He was about to ask Mackenzie what films would be playing -- more as a joke than anything -- when Mac beat him to the chase. He froze, swallowing hard. A classic horror flick was one thing, but The Blue Lagoon?! He could feel his face reddening already and not with anger -- despite the fact that he could see a subtle smirk forming on William's face despite his best attempts to hide it.
"Lucky us," Elijah remarked dryly. Still, despite the embarrassment -- current and future -- on his mind, it was not the part of Mackenzie's statement he found most troubling. "By the time the movies let out Vitae's fate will be decided."
Elijah felt a pit in his stomach. It was no secret that -- even if the promises of gods and vampires came to prove their worth on the night of reckoning -- Vitae was facing an existential threat. And he would be locked in a car watching a film through it all, not knowing what he would come back to. He felt his hand clench into a fist at his side as his eyes flicked down to the bed.
Will saw the sudden change in his partner's expression and frowned, having an idea of the reason. He understood there was a serious chance of him not making it through that night alive and had come to terms with that reality. But he still felt that his partner had the more difficult role by far and didn't envy the man's position in the least.
Will glanced toward Mackenzie, "Maybe we should bring some breakfast by the barracks for Joe," he remarked casually. He hadn't forgotten their obligation to Chase, but he wasn't sure how much Ashley-May knew about the situation.
