Emile smirked through his entire English lesson from the man sitting across from him at the table. While he appreciated the instruction, he certainly would not have guessed at the word on his own, he only wished it had come from Malcolm and not Chase. He was the one that was supposed to be educating the newest member of his pack, not the other way around. He nodded then, as he came to understand what he had mean about Morgan not being a fan of Vitae.

He gave a slow shrug as Chase commented about his position within the pack, how he should be looking out for their needs over Chase's being welcomed. "I have everything I need to know." His smirk remained, it was almost as though Chase were attempting to pry information from him. He had little doubt that the colony had sent him for information, but none of it mattered. He stood from the chair and stretched a little, "Come, the pack waits to meet you." He motioned the younger man towards the front door.

Sandy was not gone from the table long, soon returning with two trays of food, she set down down in front of her charge before taking up the seat across from him with her own tray. Upon his tray was an assortment of various foods, almost too much for one person to eat but Sandy soon explained. "The ladies wanted you to try everything," she said with a smile, "It's not often a hunter has nice things to say about ... well anything." Though she paused. "But you're not a hunter, right? Your a man of letters? What's the difference?"

TbTh8wz.jpg

Brendan regarded the young woman slowly, before speaking. "If Councilmen Hendrix see's you fit to join the hunters on guard then that is his call, however I am hesitant at sending inexperienced hunters out on missions. Even for something simple, it would be too dangerous." He cleared this throat, expecting Mackenzie to speak up about Ashley-May but was surprised when she held her tongue. He continued. "After some time in training we'll revisit how you are doing and then decide if you are to join the hunting teams. Otherwise, welcome." He gave a brief smile. "The Mess Hall is open at this time of day, the towns Recreation Center just down this road. And you passed the barracks on your way in, until we can finish building new housing that's were all the new hunters stay that don't have families."

dx0HE3H.jpg

Mackenzie remained silent through the entire affair between Ginny and Will then Brendan. Who the hell has a name like 'Ginny' she thought and couldn't help but believe the young female was going to get a lot of people killed. Inexperienced people tend to do that, in her experience at least; she was the reason why Brody had been taken by the Pack after all. A lesson learned the hard way. Hearing Brendan take over with the girl she turned slightly to face Will, glance upwards. "I don't think I should be in today's meeting." It had been bothering her for a while now, the idea of standing in the tent while they debated and fought over whether or not she was allowed to stay in the colony. "I'll go home, work on the car. The beast needs to be driven today, so maybe later ...?" She wasn't sure if Will would be willing to leave the colony, even for a drive to fill the tank upon the beast when Elijah was still within the Clinic.

hK2KbsO.jpg

Bruce, while no longer feeling the nausea he had succumbed to, did not like the idea of the god healing him any more than the teleportation that had happened. He gave a quiet thanks before stalking back to the car, leaving the civilian to be dealt with by Chris and Thor.

Christopher had glanced to Thor before looking back at the man in the road he gave a sheepish smile before shrugged. "Not an angel, a god." He certainly didn't care if the man knew about what they were, or what they were doing; so long as he didn't trace them back to Vitae. "Afraid we don't have time to give you that long of a story, but uh. Let's say he's a god, and we are heading into New Jersey to find another god. Good? Great. Need a lift?" Chris certainly didn't want to waste time standing out on the road, he wanted to find the goddess and get back home to his family.

Ginny grins, dipping her head to both of them. "Thank you so much. I promise, I'll do everything I can to make myself worth it." She knows that the woman there doesn't trust her, but that doesn't stop the elation at being accepted.

She'll have a safe place to sleep again, and food. She still needs to figure out the matter of blood, though, but she'll figure that out later. She has a little bit before it gets too serious.

She just needs to keep hidden, and that doesn't sound too hard. Djinni are masters of hiding themselves. She just needs a bit of blood to be able to use her abilities.

"I have everything I need to know."

The hunter not being allowed to leave is likely their inside man. It made sense, if everything Emile said was true then some was there that didn't want to be. And if the pack got their hands on Vitae they'd be free to do as they pleased. But if Emile didn't feel the need to ask then he would drop it. He'd watch the Alpha stand and Chase would follow, "Wouldn't want to keep them waiting."

Stepping out of the Cabin he'd follow the other man on his right and merely a step or two behind, noting the fact that anyone that caught sight of Emile would pause in what they were doing and watch. Chase assumed it was a sign of respect to the Alpha. This hunt was a big deal, solidifying your place in the pack, Chase understood that and it was currently why he was starting to feel anxious. After the night before the thought of being around other Wolves wasn't so nerve wracking, still moving through a forest with the pack and surrounded by them wasn't at the top of his bucket list.

Will nodded in agreement with Brendan's decision. He would never condone sending this young woman on a Hunt outside of Vitae, least of all without seeing what she can do first. He waved away her thanks, giving Ginny another smile. "I think that's decided, then. Make your way to the Barracks and settle in. I'm sure someone there can fill you in on the training rotation and we'll be able to get a feel for what you're capable of. Be seeing you around," he said, hoping to manage a polite dismissal before the rest of the Council arrived.

William turned as Mackenzie spoke, remarking that she didn't plan to be present for the meeting proper. He frowned at first, though he understood her logic. As she invited him on a trip in the Mainline later, he briefly considered the thought. Will didn't like the idea of leaving the Colony with Elijah still bedridden, even if he was still slightly annoyed with his withholding information. That said, Eli was in good hands at the Clinic and Ash was around... not to mention Mac would no doubt leave regardless and he wasn't about to have her driving outside the walls alone.

"Count on it," Will answered quietly with a smile.

Ginny nods, and turns to go, looking around for where he said the barracks would be. She'd like to set down her bag soon, it's kind of heavy. And she's very tired from having been up all night.

Outside the cabin the pack was up and awake, the number he had seen the night before, or at least assumed, were doubled now. The pack was waiting, quietly and patiently in what could only be described as a communal area; a grassy knoll with various picnic tables and other outdoor seating arrayed at various lengths from a central bonfire. The fire itself had not been lit in some time, likely not weeks, though Emile knew it would burn tonight. The pack watched himself and Chase as they made their way through to the center, Emile pausing to greet someone every so often in French. Malcolm and Morgan were both amongst the other members of the back, as was Brody; all the members were in their human forms, dressed in one way or another.

Upon reaching the center Emile would pause and turn back towards the pack as they gathered. "J'aimerais vous présenter Chase, le nouveau membre de notre meute." A few smiled, though many simply regarded him plainly, Emile cleared his throat and spoke again. "Er. I present Chase, our new pack member." He knew the members of his pack all spoke French to one degree or another, enough to communicate as needed while within human form. Malcolm approached then, smiling to Chase and shaking his hand once again. "Don't worry, this is just formality, so you can learn their scents." he said to Chase only, though he didn't leave the other mans side, standing to his right. As the other members approached Malcolm would give Chase their names.

dx0HE3H.jpg

Mackenzie could see the internal debate within Will's eyes as he was clearly debating her offer. She hadn't meant to make it a struggle, she was about to give him an out, tell him she would take Ash; she knew he wouldn't want her leaving the Colony alone but he was soon speaking up. She smiled slowly and stood up on her toes to kiss his lips gently. "We'll make it a quick run, promise." She didn't want to be away long regardless, though none of this would matter if the Council decided she was exiled despite Will and Brendan's attempts to barter her residence. "See you at home later." She stepped away from him, giving his hand a final squeeze before turning to head back towards the house.

TbTh8wz.jpg

Brendan waited until Mackenzie was out of earshot before he spoke. "Well that was just lovely." He gave Will a chiding smile and shook his head. "It's better she's not going to be there. I imagine they are going to be brutally honest." He turned towards the Command tent and started away from him, though still speaking. "I don't know if telling the rest of the Council about your ... relationship, would be beneficial or not." He said, attempting to calculate the pros and cons. "They could deem whatever you say to keep her here as bias opinion; wanting to keep your lover safe. While others might see it as a plea to keep would be family safe." He paused at the entrance and waited for William. "We'll have to weigh the odds on that one, and hope none of the other Councilmen know."

Solomon smiled as the food was put in front of him. He couldn't help but chuckle when said said the ladies wanted him to try everything. Certainly there was a bit of everything on his plate, and he wondered if he could finish it all, but he could tell just from the smell that it was going to be a wonderful. Meal. Solomon started taking small bites of it so he could eat and talk at the same time. " That question... is a little hard to explain." He said with a chuckle, " The way most of the men of letters see the difference is like Officer vs. Enlisted. The Men of letters are the brains and the leaders while the Hunters are the foot soldiers. While it's not a bad way of looking at it that view has caused the men of letters to look down on hunters as nothing more than labourers. Tools to be used by the Order." Solomon explained as he began digging into a different part of his meal. " The Men of Letters are trained as intellectuals, not soldiers. Mostly, they are scholars proficient in the arts of spellcraft and lore research. It wasn't but a few centuries ago that the Men of Letters and Hunters functioned basically the same. The only difference being that I would use magic circles, runes, and what not and a hunter would use actual weapons.... Am I boring you?" Solomon asked realizing he had been rambling.

Hypnos had sensed the Djinn enter the Colony, but as it was day time there wasn't much he could really do. He couldn't afford to walk around using his power during the day anymore. It had put an unneeded burden on him and if anything went wrong in New Jersey he was going to need all the power he could get.

Ginny finds the barracks, and smiles, claiming an empty bunk, and laying down, tired. Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but without enough blood to support her abilities, her sleep cycle needs to adjust accordingly.

She checks her fingerless gloves, making sure that they'll stay in place, and closes her eyes, quickly falling asleep.

William followed behind Brendan, eyes cast downward as the man spoke. What he had to say was correct, of course. The Council could potentially dismiss anything he put forth in defense of Mac as a conflict of interest... and they wouldn't necessarily be wrong.

"We'll have to weigh the odds on that one, and hope none of the other Councilmen know."

Will shook his head decisively. "No. If I act like it's something to hide and one of them does know, then I lose all credibility. It's too much of a gamble. I'm not going to open with it, but I'll be upfront if -- when -- it comes up. Put our cards on the table and let the Council decide on the merits."

Chase had picked up on Brody's scent as they walked, he'd taken a glance at the man to catch a look at his human form. The man was about as burly as he'd expected considering his wolf's size. Chase kept a rather neutral look on his face as things began rolling, the French was lost on him but that was to be expected. Though he wasn't expecting everyone to be in human form for this, maybe it was mandatory or simply courteous who was to say. After Emile's announcement Chase took a quick moment to add with a sheepish smirk, "My known French is almost non-existent, so you'll have to bear with me on that." He guessed they might have known but Chase felt the need to say it. Malcolm came to the front and explained that this was simply to learn the scents, and Chase guessed the names as well. The Pack started coming up one at a time, Chase would smile in greeting and nod mostly whilst Malcolm gave their name, making sure to try and match scent for name and memorize them as they came and went.

He couldn't help but not really enjoy the full attention, and here he was basically the center of it. Chase had lived both the life of a hunter and a wolf, and had learned not to bring attention to himself on both fronts for the most part. Even in the recent years where such things and knowledge of hunters and the supernatural had become more common. Despite that he didn't feel anything but acceptance as Werewolf after Werewolf passed. There were many, so many Chase doubted he could ever remember them all. Paige, Albert, Amelia, Taylor, Harmon, Nathaniel. And so on and so forth. Sure he might be able to distinguish any of their scents as part of the pack from this, but not apart from each other.

To think this was only a part of the pack, it was a rather intimidating prospect but if Emile felt this First Sin threat was real he couldn't blame the Alpha for pulling in members. It was the Werewolf's methods that Chase wasn't fond of.

Sandy continued to eat her breakfast as Solomon explained what a Man of Letters was and what they did, she frowned slightly at part of his explanation, and when he asked if she were bored she shook her head. "No, not bored, just a little confused." She confessed, setting her fork down she continued. "If the Men of Letters was supposed to be the leader of the hunters, the 'brains' as you said, then why have I never heard of them? Both my parents are hunters and they've never once mentioned anything of the like." She idly wondered if this was hunter boasting; it certainly wouldn't be the first time she had heard a tall tale from a hunter.

TbTh8wz.jpg

Brendan nodded as he followed Will into the Command Tent, he may not agree with the man; being upfront about his personal connection with Mackenzie, but he wouldn't try and argue his point, it was their business not his own. Inside the tent he walked around the table to his usual spot, while the seats were certainly not assigned no one ever sat anywhere different than where they normally did. "We might want to include that if Mackenzie is asked to leave she will take Ashley-May with her, we are drastically low on hunters that can heal, I would not suggest that yourself with Elijah would be leaving as well -I don't know if that is true or not, but merely suggesting that Ashley-May should be enough to connect that other hunters close to Mackenzie would be leaving as well." Brendan was attempting to hit any topic that would be a pro for Mackenzie to stay. "Are you prepared to hear what they might have to say about her?" This thought alone worried Brendan, mostly because he knew the other Councilmen would do what they could to get a rise out of him.

dx0HE3H.jpg

Mackenzie made her way back to the house, she had half expected to she Ashley-May on the step with her duffel again, threatening to go back to the barracks, but was thankful that wasn't the case. She looked over the bench seat still sitting on the ground next to the car with a sigh. This was the part she was dreading the most: dragging the heavy awkward seat back into the Beast. Cleaning blood and gore from the floor and ceiling was much preferred over the task ahead of her. She stripped off her leather jacket, and unloaded the weapons she had stashed on herself before getting to work.

Everyone brought themselves to meet Chase, including Brody, whom had offered no apologize and made no other statement than his own name before stalking off, Morgan trailing behind him. With everything done Malcolm patted Chase on the shoulder. "You look like you're about to executed." He commented glance to Emile as he spoke to some of the other pack members a few feet away. "We typically do this introduction for members that have been turned, it's hard for humans to understand greeting in the pack, as a wolf. Emile wanted it this way, for you, since you've lived as a human for years."

Emile broke away from the others he was speaking to to rejoin Malcolm and Chase, "They found one." He grinned, delighted. "Venir." He nodded towards the woods, already the pack was readying to go, the members moving off back to their own dwellings to undress, some already shifted into their wolf selves. Emile started striding back towards the cabin, his excitement quickening his pace, Malcolm followed with Chase. 'During this hunt you'll just stay with Emile; don't leave his side. He'll show you where you need to be, but don't do anything, alright?"

Chase groaned a little at Malcolm's comment, rubbing at his face before giving the man an apologetic look. The Beta followed up mentioning how Emile had planned for this introduction to the pack. Chase followed Malcolm's glance towards the Alpha, really taking in just how much the man and the pack had gone out of their way for him. Exhaling deeply, "All my life actually." Chase corrected Malcolm softly, more focused on the Alpha than his words for a moment.

Emile had made his way over rather excitedly and Chase guessed it was about the hunt though the French term passed him by and he wondered if it was the name for one of the animals about. He watched as the pack started moving and shifting into position, missing the fact that Emile was practically power walking towards the cabin with Malcolm right behind for a moment and having to jog to catch up to the older men. Malcolm followed and spoke a set of rules, Stay by Emile and don't do anything. "Simple enough." Chase shrugged, though the fact that the rules were needed succeeded in bringing the anxious feelings back.

Once back at the cabin it had occurred to Chase that they were here to shift which meant getting out of their clothes, and the cabin was just one large room with no privacy except maybe the loft area. Not that it was a huge deal considering Emile had already seen him nude for a moment the day before and he'd seen Emile partially so at the same meeting, but those were different circumstances. Nudity was just something that came natural to them, getting to the shift and not worrying about the in-between much. Chase understood that, so he took the dive once they arrived on the porch and started peeling off his shirt and tossing it on one of the rocking chairs before going to work on his shoes. He'd chance a glance at Emile before looking back at his feet, managing the first shoe off. "So this is what decides my place in the pack. That mean's it's pretty much the final step right?"

Eddie gulped hard while he listened to Christopher. A God? Trying to find another one? How many gods are there? He took a deep breath before nodding.
"Y-yes. I do need one."
He extended his hand to Thor, before pulling it back and bowing, unsure of the etiquette when meeting a god.
"My name is Eddie. Thank you for helping me. I would be glad to pay the favor back once you get where you're going. I'm just trying to get to a town and get some money before I die out here."
And with that, he approached the car and would enter whichever seat wasn't taken, if the door was unlocked.

Brendan's point about Ashley-May was a fair one -- even those members of the Council most set against Mackenzie would have to think twice about the Colony losing out on a dedicated and medically-trained Hunter.

"Are you prepared to hear what they might have to say about her?"

Will glanced at Brendan, nodding slowly but keeping his gaze steady. He knew the older man was doing him a favor, preparing him for whatever might crop up during the meeting. William had come to accept that many of the Councilmen had... unfavorable opinions about Mac and that whatever they might have to say about her would likely be just as unpleasant. "Yes," he said evenly.

DCNSJgT.jpg

Emile didn't seem to take note of Chase's decision to strip and shift in a public setting, it was natural for himself to do so but Malcolm was somewhat impressed by it; it was clear Chase was attempting to side step his human inhibitions and conform to what was norm to the pack. Emile pulled his shirt over his head and tossed it to hang over the railing, tilting his head aside to glance toward Malcolm then back again. "You learn, what to do, when we hunt." He said, hoping that clarified things for Chase, he was kicking his untied boots off; no socks beneath.

Malcolm was doing much the same, though far less enthusiastic than Emile. "Consider this training for your new position. You're part of the pack, one of its members, now you need to learn how to work with us." He finished unbuttoning his shirt and pulled it off of his shoulders, neatly folding it. "Have you ever hunted with other wolves before? Not in a pack, necessarily, but otherwise?"

TbTh8wz.jpg

Brendan watched William carefully as he replied, looking for any crack in his composure, he didn't see anything of a forewarning but that certainly did not mean it wasn't there. "Good." He said, leaning back in his chair. "As for Franklin..." He inhaled slowly before continuing. "I doubt Mackenzie has told you the truth about him, if she even knows it, but Vitae does and it's not pleasant." He motioned to the seat next to him, the one Will had sat within the day before. "We don't have much time but I tell you what I can. We both heard from her, what Franklin does to hunters that trespass in is territory and she was no exception; take care of her opinion of Franklin. After we heard where she ended up - we lost track of her and her brothers after we freed them from the Nest, we sent people to find her there, to bring her home. The first hunters were sent back almost dead, but none had seen her. After a few months more hunters were returned - she had been captive with them. After that ... Well she helped Franklin break them, the others that were no from Vitae, to work with him. We stopped trying to help her after this."

He continued to watch William, but he didn't have time to spare to let him process. "It was Franklin's Nest that took the victims from Borseti after the Pack. The Alpha claims that was not their agreement, but neither of them can be trusted. She's been told this and denies it because Franklin has told her otherwise, excuses it away with the reasoning that it was members of his own Nest that had gone Rogue. The Council will not want to use his help to deal with the Pack, but we both knew we can't take the Pack on alone and we can't trust the gods or angels to be here when the wolves come for the sheep."

Mackenzie worked at returning the re-upholstered bench to the car, that alone had been far more laborious than removing it. It never failed to amaze her that the damned thing seemed to grow in size and change change every time she removed it, like something was screwing with her, toying, just for its own amusement. Once she finally got it back in place she started bolting it back to the floor; which brought on another task that meant cramming into awkward positions and places to get the tools she needed into just the right place. When all was said and done she collapsed back along the newly covered seat tired and sore, staring up at the stained ceiling. She was far too aware that Ashley-May had come to the front porch to witness the event, no doubt for her own amusement.

In the time that Mac and Will had left the house and Mac returned Ash had had enough time to finally take the pregnancy test she had 'stolen' from the Clinic the day before. She hadn't wanted to do it, wanted to continue to deny it for as long as possible, but she knew she would have to face her demons, or in this case, angels, at some point. She was not in the least bit surprised by the positive result; after reading more lore on Nephlims, she found they developed far faster than their human counterparts. In twenty-four hours it had developed quickly enough to show up on a test that was meant to indicate at two weeks. She needed to tell Mac sooner rather than later (or never) as she had hoped.

Mac was laying out along her re-installed bench seat and Ash decided she may as well get it over with. She wandered to the car and climbed in to join the smaller woman by laying atop of her and burying her fact in Mac's neck with a sigh. She lay there for a time, mulling over how to have this conversation, really uncertain how Mac would react, so she decided to start with something simple. "Is Will mad at me?" She assumed the man had gone in her place, and would be less than pleased.

Mackenzie slowly wrapped her arms around Ashley and answered. "No, he thinks you're mad at him. Talk to him at breakfast, when he's done with the meeting." She slowly stroked Ashley's hair out of her face, she had little doubt her partner and best friend was have emotional issues with how Mac felt about Will. They were both silent for some time before Ashley spoke again.

"Mac ... I have something to tell you, and please don't be upset with me." She waited a second, to see if Mac would interrupt her, almost hoping she would, before she continued. "I'm pregnant." There was a long silence then, though Mac still held onto her, neither of them moved or said anything until finally the worry inside of Ashley forced her to speak, voice timid. "Mac? Please say something."

Mackenzie was quite a bit shocked at the revelation she heard from Ash. She had expected so many other things. I want to go back to school. I want to leave Vitae. Hell, Mac had even suspected that she and Eli might have even started something between them but this had not been on the list of things she though Ashley-May would ever tell her. She heard her partner prompt her to speak and she attempted to, but found not voice. She cleared her throat and said the first thing that came to mind. "It's not mine." Ashley shifted enough to look down at her and Mac smirked, when she witness Ashley-May roll her eyes.

They remained quiet for a while longer before Mac spoke again, wanting to know more. "So what's the plan, Ash? When will daddy dearest know?" She assumed it was from their last job in Denver prior to coming to Vitae. There had been more than a few nights that Ashley-May had spend the night away, and Mac had assumed it was a guy, now she was sure of it.

Ashley shifted uncomfortably, having expected Mac to have a blow out at the new; she had prepared herself for a fight, a war really, that would leave the two of them no longer partners or friends, she had not accounted for Mac to be accepting. "Uh. Well that's the thing. He already knows." She heard Mac tisk, and continued before the other woman could interrupt her. "It's .. Alaric's, the angel." There was the reaction Ash had been waiting for, she felt Mac tense up beneath her, could see the seething anger on her face.

Nephilim. Mackenzie watched Ashley-May, waited for her partner to tell her she was joking, lying even, but something within her knew it would never come. "That feathered fuck is dead." She hissed, it wasn't a wonder why the angelic bastard had fled Vitae. Creating a Nephilim was a sin beyond all others for angels, and even now Heaven and possibly anything else could be hunting down Ashley-May and the child. She could see the growing worry with her partner. "It's fine, Ash." She attempted to reassure her partner. She knew if Ash remained inside the walls of Vitae she would be safe from anything supernatural coming after her, but angels? She wasn't sure about. There were things she could do to help Ashley hide, but she knew they would no doubt anger her god a great deal. "Don't worry about anything, I got you covered."

As Brendan spoke, William felt the urge to raise his hands defensively, begging the man to stop with the information he was providing as he desperately attempted to process it. He had guessed that Vitae had a more complicated history with Northerna than Jack or Franklin let on during the initial meeting and now it was clear just what that was. Not only that, but Franklin had been at Borseti during the aftermath. He -- or members of his Den -- had worked alongside the Pack. The distinction didn't matter at the moment.

The revelation that rocked William to his core was that Mackenzie had supposedly worked alongside Franklin to break Hunters into submission. He knew the woman he cared for so much had been in Franklin's "service" for some time... she had admitted as much. But he couldn't -- and didn't want to -- picture her doing exactly hat Brendan was describing. He wasn't even sure if he was capable of believing it. The realization that shocked him even further was that he knew it wouldn't change the way he felt about her even if it was... for better or worse. Mackenzie had demons hidden away like anyone. More numerous, certainly. More monstrous even. But William willing to face them all if that's what it took.

He realized that his gaze had dropped to the table as he rubbed at his temples with his thumbs, but when he raised his eyes to meet Brendan's again his expression had changed from one of minor shock to grim determination. "Thank you," he said, his tone quiet but sincere. "We'll have to appeal to their utilitarian nature, make them understand that our chances of surviving the Pack without Franklin are small... at best. They may hate Northerna, may despise what Franklin has done in the past and rightfully so. But in my experience if there's any emotion stronger than hatred and resentment, it's fear. We can use that," he said darkly.

Chase slipped one shoe off and shoved his sock inside whilst Malcolm spoke and asked his question. When Chase's right shoe popped off he looked over at the man and shook his head, "I'd always avoided them." There were a few times where he'd come close to such a decision but had decided against it. "My father participated on very rare occasions but he was no wolf. But it's a similar corralling aspect I'd imagine." Chase hadn't told Malcolm about his father yet, so unless Emile had then he guessed this would be knew info for the Beta. Seeking to finish Chase shoved his shoes and socks beside the chair and out of the way before standing back up, the last bit of clothing were his pants and underwear which he decided not to slip off until just before he was going to shift. Instead he waited to see if there was anything else that they wanted to communicate before they were Wolves.

Brendan could see the William attempting to take in the information he was provided, he was far too aware it would be shocking to hear. He was rather impressed how Will did take it all, however. Most men at his point would have changed their decisions, certainly after hearing about Mackenzie's participation. He nodded at the thank you, but before either could speak further the first of the Councilmen were arriving. First through the doors was Jon Diffey and the Elder Councilmen, they were conversing quietly but as the came to see Will and Brendan already seated their conversation ended with a look. They moved within the tent, the Elder assuming his place at the head of the long table, whist Jon wandered closer to the two already seated. "Morning." He nodded to Brendan before looking to William with a smile.

"Councilmen Hendrix, I'm glad to see you here early this morning, I wanted to give you something." He portly older man was taking a seat next to William. From his front shirt pocket he produced a house key with string and note attached containing and address. "We've finished repairs on the final house where the remaining Council live and are pleased to welcome you to the neighborhood!" He set the key on the table before William, still smiling. "We decided, as a whole, that this house would suit your ever growing ... needs." It was meant as a joke, poor taste or not; Councilmen Hendrix had already developed a name for himself: hunters of all kinds seemed to flock towards him. "We'll be having a street party tonight in your and Mr. Davenports honor. We hope he will be well enough to attend?"

Malcolm didn't have much more to say, while Emile glanced towards Chase with a smirk. "Laissez-nous aller choit perdu." He certainly did not feel the need to translate his excitement or slight impatience to get going. Emile was swift to shed his clothing and immediately started to shift into his wolf form taking a moment to stretch and scent the air. Malcolm, however, was not quite as swift, he glanced towards Chase almost sheepishly before nodding towards Emile. "By all means, follow the Alpha. It takes me a little more time to change." It always had, while his eldest son had taken to this new life swiftly, himself and Douglas always found themselves needing to focus and concentrate on shifting forms. He stepped aside to give Chase the room he needed.

The remainder of the pack that had greeted Chase were ready, some having already moved off towards the woods to take up their places during the hunt; this was going to be far larger than what was norm for them, but it was tradition. Other milled around waiting for the Alpha and the new member. From the woods burst Morgan, seemingly just as excited as Emile about the hunt she bounded up to the Alpha tongue lolling once more.

Will stared up at the Councilman with evident shock before finally reaching out to take the offered key. He had mentally prepared himself for a heated argument -- a verbal battle -- and now he was being offered a house for his service to the Colony. The mention of a party did nothing to help him cope with this. He appreciated the gesture and knew better than to decline; the house they currently occupied had never been meant for them, but for the family of those in recovery at the Clinic. Besides, while he might not mind living out of the barracks (though it certainly wasn't his first choice), Mac, Ashley-May, and Elijah deserved better. Not to mention Adelaide, when she arrived.

Quickly regaining his composure, William nodded to the Councilman. "Thank you. I'm honored. I'm hardly one to put a stop to any celebration, but there are a lot of people in this Colony who deserve it," he said. "Elijah's not up and about just yet, but I'm sure he'll insist on making an appearance regardless." Will left the rest unspoken: Assuming any of you are still interested in doing anything in my honor when this meeting finishes...

Chase huffed after Emile spoke in French without a translation though he'd guess it was something along the lines of Hurry up. "He gets a kick out of knowing I don't understand what he's saying doesn't he." Whilst talking to Malcolm he knew Emile would have heard even through the shift, though it wasn't a question. Chase couldn't help but momentarily watch Emile's wolf form, having not seen it before and it was no wonder the man was Alpha. The Beta admitted his shift took a little longer and that Chase should go ahead. So as not to potentially make the older man uncomfortable Chase did so by turning to face away from them and more towards the corner of the cabin for at least a small sense of privacy before slipping off his pants and tossing them towards the chair.

Shifting in front of others was a new concept he hadn't particularly considered, sure he'd done it numerous times with Joe and occasionally whatever they were hunting might have caught sight of him doing so but this wasn't the same. It didn't change anything, and the man shifted like he would have normally. Turning his Wolf body around and brushing by Malcolm on his way off the Cabin's porch. Briefly he sniffed at the air, with his senses even further heightened in his other form the Werewolf camp had more to offer. But he wouldn't dawdle, stepping towards Emile and Morgan. Malcolm's words were to stay near the Alpha so that was his plan, he did however give the larger wolf plenty of breathing room. Chase's posture was rather relaxed as he patiently eyed the other two rather excited looking wolves.

Solomon wasn't surprised when Sandy was hesitant to believe him. After all, despite thier pleasant conversations they knew next to nothing about one another. The real issue was trying to convince her what he said was the truth. After a moment of thinking Solomon had an idea. " It's not surprising you have never head of The Men of Letters. The American chapter has been out of commission since the Second World War. How can I prove to you I am what I say I am? Show off my magic?"

Jon nodded to Will and chuckled hearing that Davenport would attended regardless of his condition. “Well so long as he brings one of those cute nurses…” He said, giving William’s arm a pat as he continued to laugh. With a withering look from Brendan he cleared his throat and excused himself to the other side of the large table.

During this time the other Councilmen and their aides started to arrive, quieting from whatever conversation they were having at the sight of Will and Brendan already in attendance; it wasn’t hard to figure out what they had been speaking of prior. With everyone within the tent the Elder stood at the head of the table and started the morning meeting. He would drone on, recounting the minutes from the day before, however he glossed over the mission in New York. It wasn’t an omition, but a simple statement of “and we recapped what occurred in New York.” Once done with the minutes he paused as asked if anyone needed further detail of yesterday’s meeting but no one ever did.

“On to today’s agenda, it has come to the Council’s attention that one that we consider and enemy of Vitae has been invited onto our soil and bartered with.” All eyes fell to William, but the Elder continued. “We understand that, while Councilmen Hendrix is new to Vitae and his role, his aide is not and is quite aware of the prior history between Vitae and DeBois’ Nest.” He paused regarding the man a long minute before speaking again. “This Council now moves to make a votea this morning. The first vote is to decide Skye Mackenzie Cannonach’s fate. We do not believe it would be appropriate to exile her at this time given her links to both the Nest and the Pack; either could use her against us in the coming days. As a full Council we will vote to whether she is permitted to remain in Vitae as a hunter with freedom, if she to remain in Vitae as a prisoner of war, or to be dispatched. We have provided enough reasons to vote for the latter, we ask if anyone has any arguments to change the will of Council. ”

Brendan was shell shocked; he simply stared at the Elder entirely taken aback. While he understood their wanted to be rid of her; something he and Will were to argue was a bad idea, he had never thought the Council would come to vote on someone’s life. He could not bring himself to look at William, this was not what they had discussed prior, not what even he had expected. He shot out of his seat, before Will could say anything. “Surely the Council would like to reconsider the final option. Never in the history of Vitae have her murdered someone because of their previous allegiances. Mackenzie hasn’t ever killed any hunter or human, and certainly not one from this colony.”

“She might not have, but she came damned close to it, even with your own son, Brendan.” A woman from across the table said rather evenly, “We didn’t know if Christopher live through the night after he was sent here from the Nest, and he said it himself that Skye had been part and parcel of him getting caught and his torture. Hell, she walked him into the trap that lead to him getting caught by the Nest.”

“And yet she’s been here days and has no complaint over it. If anyone had a right to exile the girl it would be him. I’ve spoken to Chris, about this directly, and he holds no anger towards her because she went through the same torture he did. That’s what happens, Angela, when you cage someone for months and hurt them to the point they lose their minds, they aren’t in control of what they do.”

“All the more reason she should-“The Elder slammed his hands on the table interrupting the argument. “This is not the debate, but the Council understands Councilmen Jacks hesitation. It will require a unanimous vote for the Council to move towards execution. Moving forward, we are looking for positive arguments for Skye Mackenzie Cannonach to remain an active participant within Vitae, or our prisoner of war.”

Brendan hadn’t sat, he still held the table, and once the Elder was seated he spoke again. “Beyond the fact that the girl as already bled and nearly died for this Colony, she has brought us invaluable information about the Pack’s history, as well brought us the deal with Franklin DeBois: He will assist us with the Pack and will do it with no terms. He has asked for nothing.” Brendan was attempting to pocket the Oracle part as long as possible. He returned to his seat as the Elder directed his attention to William. “Councilmen Hendrix, is this true? Did she manage to enlist the help of the Nest with no terms of repayment?”

Malcolm smirked hearing Chase’s comment about Emile using French in the presence of the American wolf, he chuckled lightly and nodded; knowing well enough the comment was more for Emile to hear than himself. With Chase’s shift he moved aside to shift forms on his own.

Chase descended the front steps and was immediately assaulted by Morgan. The female wolf bounded to him from Emile, crashing into his side with a playful growl. She wasn’t there long before she gave his side a nip and dashed back the way she had come, towards the woods where the rest of the pack was gathering. Emile was certainly aware of the smaller wolf keeping a distance from him, but he paid it little mind, padding past Chase towards the woods as well, though at a far more reasonable pace. The outlaying scouts had spoked a small herd of deer wandering a fair distance away. The short amount of time they took to move towards the woods gave Malcolm the time he needed to shift and join them as a wolf, though he didn’t follow Emile immediately, waiting behind for Chase.

Sandy slowly shook her head. "No, you don't need to do that." At least now she understood why she had never heard of the Men of Letters before. While kind of Solomon to offer to prove himself, he hadn't done anything that would make Sandy think he were lying.

"So if the American chapter has been closed for over sixty years, what chapter are you from?"

St. Boethius St. Boethius

Solomon nodded when Sandy asked which chapter he was from. In honesty he was rather glad she hadn't asked him to show him magic. Mostly because it was quite flashy. There's not very much downplaying having a god as your puppet. " Well I suppose I'm from what can be considered the original Chapter. I'm from the Israeli chapter house, created by my ancestor King Solomon." He explained watching Sandy as well as around them. " I can to America in search of an ancient artifact that my Ancestor created, the Ars Goetia."
