Mackenzie didn’t have any grand plans for reasons why Ashley-May couldn’t go on this mission and she hated the idea of Will being pushed into it himself in lieu of Ash. “You can’t go, Councilmen.” She stated simply, knowing very well he needed to attend the meetings and actually be within Vitae to do what he’s supposed to do. “If they need a fourth they can have me, I know how to keep someone stitched together long enough to get them to emerg.” Typically it was herself that she was stitching and simply figured it would be far easier to do it to someone else.

As they approached the Command tent they could already see Brendan there, with the three people Ashley-May had mentioned. Bruce and Aiden she recognized but the third she did not entirely. He was mildly familiar, like she’d known him once before but couldn’t really place it. She was not surprised to see Brendan’s annoyed expression and braced for the onslaught of his anger.

Brendan witnessed the Councilmen and his aide approaching hand in hand once more and while he still thought the pair of them odd; wasn’t Mackenzie with Ashley-May? He simply ignored it as trivial information, not worth inquiring. He was not surprised to see the pair instead of the medic he had assigned, and sighed heavily. Before either of them could speak he stepped away from the waiting trio to approach them. “As much as I would like to hear the reason why you’re both here instead of Ashley-May, save it. Normally I’d fight you, but we’ve got an ace in the pocket for his mission.” He glanced to Mackenzie briefly before turning his focus back to William, the far more reasonable one to deal with of the pair. “Have you two made your decision then? The Council has already decided its vote, even before it’s been taken: they want Skye gone for bringing Franklin here. “He paused briefly. “Have you decided I can expose her for the Oracle to keep her here?”

Morgan gave a growl at Chase’s final suggestion, speaking to the colony. She turned from the sink to face the two at the table, hands dripping with suds, but Emile prevented her from speaking. The shift in his position on his chair, the slight tilt of his head was more than enough to indicate she was about to over step her bounds. She turned back to the sink and pulled the plug, letting the water drain before drying her hands. In a moment of annoyed defiance she tossed the towel onto the countertop instead of re-hanging it over the handle of the stove before striding to the front door and exiting.

Emile waited quietly and patiently as he niece had her ‘moment’ and when the door slammed behind her he cleared his throat. “Six mois… er. Months ago a hunter called me. Called Malcolm actually. La Chasseur hear from un loup he kill here about the Abyss, the premier Sin. He call and ask if it is true, he hear same thing when he go to Borseti. We tell him what our Prophet says, what the Prophet say for hundred of years. “ He paused for a moment, wanting to express the remainder clearly. “He tell the Council. He told Elders of Vitae and they deny, told him we lied.” He gave a little huff at the final word, rather insulted by this insinuation. “He told them he was to leave. To come to the pack, as a human, to see for himself. They threatened his family. Told him if he leaves the colony, steps outside the walls, they will exile his loves and friends. Not all want to be pack, but they don’t deserve to be exile from their homes.” He took a sip of his coffee before clearing his throat.

“We come to speak to Vitae, they do not listen. We ask to free the ones that want to be Pack, they deny and threaten their families. Now we will go and free them ourselves.”

Christopher glanced to his father as he went to speak to the newest Councilmen and Skye, seeing her instead of Ashley-May told him all he needed to know; that the fourth would not be attending. At the very least they had been told that Thor would be leaving on this mission with them, that the god would meet them on the road to New Jersey. He turned back to the other men with a shrug. “Guess we hit the road.”

Within a few minutes they were packed into the Christopher’s SUV and exiting the gates of Vitae.

Thor stood on the road, a few minutes out of Vitae, honoring his promise to Brendan to not show that he was involved to the citizens of Vitae. He was hoping that they were at least tolerant of gods, lest it would be a very awkward drive to New Jersey.

He looked up as he heard a car approach.

Chase's attention turned towards Morgan when she started growling, clearly he'd struck a nerve. She didn't stay long afterwards and Chase more or less waited to hear what Emile had to say about it. The tale was quite the story. Someone at Vitae wanted the truth but the Council wouldn't let them leave, threatening to exile loved ones. Now where does that sound familiar, Councilman Hendrix. Though the situation was different, and so were the terms. His initial thought was that Will wouldn't know anything about the other situation, but then Chase wondered if he was being used. What if this protection of Joe was making him a hostage in disguise, to make sure Chase came back and stayed loyal?

He shook the thought from his mind with a sigh, "That's not something I was aware of." Chase couldn't dismiss the possibility that Emile was lying, "But isn't this risking a lot of lives, both Pack and Colony alike?" He was starting to feel like he was overstepping slightly, "It's probably not my place to question your plans." Chase shifted uncomfortably in his seat, it was just instinct to question things he didn't agree with or didn't understand. Fact was this First Sin was something that clearly frightened Emile and the pack enough to send him across countries seeking allies.

Emile gave a slight shrug as the suggestion that it would risk both Pack and Colony. "C'est possible, mais I think the meute will be stronger not weaker at the end. The colony might not fair the same, though." Emile knew very well that the Council and the Elders had not told the colony of what was coming, of the warnings they had had. He knew very well that Malcolm had already shared this information with them in the 90's before the Borseti Colony fell to his pack.

Vitae was much smaller than Borseti had been; he had little doubt they could easily over come what ever the group of hunters threw at them. He finished off his coffee and set his mug aside. "I will let you speak to the Prophètes yourself later." But he caused, curious. "I know the colony has an Oracle of their own, has it not told you what comes?" Certainly any being tied directly to the god would have been provided the same warning his own seers and prophets had seen.

Christopher caught sight of Thor standing at the side of the road as promised by his father, he slowed and pulled over to stop near the god and waited. The two men in the back seat of the car were silent, Chris had told him they were going to collect a god for this mission, and finally revealed that they were, in fact, searching for Hades' wife. Both men had groaned, and Chris didn't blame them, after all both had been in New York and witness the devastation that had occurred there; they had right to fear there would be a repeat with yet another god involved.

He unlocked the passenger door and waited for the god to get in, uncertain how all of this was going to work, Brenda had eluded to the idea that Thor might speed up their travel time, but Chris was unsure how.

Seers. Prophets. Oracles. Chase hadn't realized they were all the same, that Mac was one of them. Momentarily he asked himself the same question that Emile was asking, Does she know about this? He just shook his head, "If the Oracle has said anything of the sort I never heard it." Well the pack knows Vitae has an Oracle, that much is confirmed, but they don't know it's Mackenzie...yet. The woman had told Chase to tell the truth, and so far Emile hadn't asked for anything or even information. Except a way to get Mac out of the way.

Chase knew he'd have to give something to further the trust here. "You asked about Skye Cannonach earlier so I assumed you knew, but she is Vitae's Oracle." He'd probably have to apologize to Malcolm later about not telling him before Emile assuming the Alpha told her father first. "I never personally heard her or anyone speak of anything she sees."

Solomon smiled at the lot of Sandy's family. It was an awkward experience to say the least, not to mention he had no idea what to do with them. They seemed nice enough, but we're they civilians? Why were they here? What did they bring to the table as far as the Colony was considered? All these questions and more floated around in Solomon's mind behind a kind if confused smile. " A pleasure to meet all of you. My name is Solomon David. Sandy has been a great help to my recovery process. Without her I'd still be stuck in that awful bed all day. "

Will knew the conversation about Mac staying at Vitae was a subject they had willfully danced around over the past several hours, for better or worse. Nodding briefly to Brendan, he turned and lowered his head so that he could whisper to Mac without any risk of being overheard. "It's your choice and I'll back it, no matter what... but I think letting Brendan tell them might be our best play." He gave Mackenzie an apologetic glance, but squeezed her hand for reassurance.

He was vaguely aware of the other Hunters filing out, apparently at having gotten the message across that they wouldn't be accompanied. Shortly after they left, Will heard the tent flaps opening and turned to see a young brunette woman enter that Will didn't recognize. She couldn't have been out of her early 20s. Likely not a Hunter, then. He gave her an uncertain nod before turning his attention back to Mac.

DCNSJgT.jpg

Emile paused as Chase provided him with the first details of Vtiae, he hadn't much intention of ask him to turn over their secrets, what ones they might have he didn't already know about. The fact that the Oracle was the Cannonach girl was not something he had know, something his source clearly didn't know. "Brûle en l’enfer. Tabarnac." He raised his hands to his face and slowly rubbied at his temples, eyes closing tightly as he considered this. "Bien sur, she's their Prophètes. Who else would it be, eh?" He laughed, though it was clearly not a laugh of humor but resigned defeat. Hands dropped to his side as he regarded Chase again. "Tell me, is she now made of silver too?" He didn't expect an answer, or for Chase to understand entirely why Emile was frustrated by this news. "Merci, for tell me. This. This changes things a little. Something I need to work out, fix, before we free the hunters."

The family smiled and waved to Solomon as he introduced himself, but before any conversation could continue, mostly to avoid further embarrassment or awkwardness, Sandy was interjecting. "Alright, well you guys have a great day. I'll see you later." She turned Solomon away from the table and left at a rather steady pace. She found them a small table far enough away from her family that she felt they wouldn't bother the man again, before moving a chair a side so Solomon could sit comfortably at it. "Sorry." She mumbled quietly, locking the chair so it wouldn't wiggle around on him. "They get excited when new hunters come to the colony." She offered him a small smile. "I'll be back shortly." She turned and started heading towards the food line and kitchen to get them breakfast.

dx0HE3H.jpg

Mackenzie smiled feeling William's hand squeeze her own, seeing the concern in his eyes. She knew very well if she said no and left the colony he would follow, as would Ashley-May and Elijah once recovered, or even possibly before. If this had been a week before she would have never considered letting the Council have the benefit of even discussing what they would do with her. Hell, she had even briefly considered threatening them with the idea that if they didn't allow her to stay she would turn herself over to the pack. Let them have the knowledge that she would be coming for them on the lunar cycle.

She brushed her lips against his cheek delivering a gentle kiss before nodding. "It's fine," She reassured him. "They would have figured it out eventually." This she wasn't entirely sure was true or not, but it didn't matter. She needed to consider the safety and well being of her 'family'.

William held eye contact with Mackenzie for a brief moment before nodding with a small smile. He turned back to Brendan with a look of determination. "Do you what you have to, Brendan," he said evenly.

"Let them know what she brings to the table," he said with a vague air of distaste -- not for Mac's status as an Oracle or even Brendan himself, but for the Council for putting them in this position in the first place. It made him feel like he was bartering through a middle man on behalf of a woman he cared deeply about.

Ginny watches Will and Mackenzie cautiously, not knowing what they're talking about, but it seems very serious. She shouldn't just stand here and listen, but she also feels like she shouldn't interrupt.

She swallows nervously, trying to be as unobtrusive as possible when she speaks. "Um, excuse me," she says softly, her accent showing slightly. "Is councilman Hendrix here?" She looks between them, icy blue eyes showing uncertainty.

fff_zps4rxngdyd.png

It was clear by Emile's reaction that he didn't know, and that Mac being the Oracle bothered him. The Alpha let his clear displeasure out in French leaving Chase to wait for a translation or for the man to continue. "Changes plans huh? Glad I can help, I'm just surprised you haven't asked me for more information on the colony. I'm guessing that means you either don't need it or you are waiting." Or you don't think you can trust any information I'll give yet.

To be honest he didn't think it would be that big of a deal but clearly it was to Emile, "I take it Morgan isn't a fan of Vitae's threats." Chase poked a thumb towards the backdoor, fully aware that she might still be just outside and listening. Though he knew most probably weren't, including himself if it was true. Chase finished his coffee and set the mug down on the table not planning to go for a second cup.

Thor smiled as he stepped into the car, he could sense that they were a bit uneasy, so he decided to try to calm them by assuring them that he was different from the gods they knew "Good morning. Now, as I'm aware of the catastrophic failure that was your last job you hunters did with gods, I can assure you that there's a vast difference between me and those greek gods. For a start, the only ones I will be obliterating would be any adversaries attempting to interfere. And as I'm unsure whether Brendan has filled you in or not, we are going to retrieve Persephone, Hades' wife. Seeing as if we don't, he will rise and do so himself. Only his way will result in massive casualties. And even if I would stop him. The collateral damage would be immense, we're talking New Jersey practically wiped out as a result of it here.". Thor knew that the vast amount of power that would be released as a result of a battle between Thor and Hades would cause natural disasters, which would cause the majority of the damage.

Thor had ordered the road leading to New Jersey to be scouted, and came to the conclusion that the closest location he could teleport the car to was roughly 50 miles from the city itself, as he only wanted to use an abandoned road, where the chance of someone seeing them was minimal. Snapping his fingers, suddenly the enviroment around the car changed and they were suddenly on a different road. It was also in a forest, but this forest was brighter and not as menacing.

"I brought us closer to New Jersey, in case you are wondering what just happened. And as we've got roughly 50 miles to go, any questions?", though, he immediately regretted having moved so fast. Realising that they could have used more time to digest all the information, but it was too late now, what was done was done.

Eddie tripped on a pebble on the side of the road, falling forward a bit before regaining his balance as he heard it skip behind him.

"Aw SHHHHuucks"

His hands had been in his pockets, making the fall a little more potentially dangerous. He felt the last bits of change in his pocket, and approximated it was about three dollars, before becoming lost in thought. 'So god is real. Or at least, what he did to me was real... of course it could've been aliens... but aliens couldn't make me get better after a few days, could they? Did I have to censor myself just now? Would he care? Do I care if he would care?'
He was interrupted by a sound far behind him on the road. A car materialized from nowhere right at the horizon. His heart pounded in his chest. Did he really just see that, or was it some trick his tired eyes were playing on him? Either way, he needed a ride soon, or he would be sleeping in the grass. Plus, maybe someone in a teleporting car has some answers... He turned around, gave his best fake smile, and put his thumb out. Alator Alator

Brendan glanced between Mackenzie and William before nodding, he wasn't sure if the two had actually discussed any of what it may or may not entail, but it certainly was not his place to pry or warn. He gave grim nod, it wouldn't be long before the Council started to congregate for their morning meeting, at the very least the three of them were the first to arrive at the Command tent, it meant that the others couldn't convene prior and make decisions without including the two Councilmen. He was about to suggest the three of them step into the tent and make some sort of agreeable stance; if the Council wanted to negotiate he needed to know what they were willing to give, when he head a voice over his shoulder. He glanced towards the girl before back at William.

dx0HE3H.jpg

Mackenzie didn't like the idea of not defending herself when it came to the Council, but she was far too aware of her own very abrasive personality. It would not go well if she were to represent herself, anywhere, where it meant people actually liking her. It was a rare oddity that somehow Elijah and William both seemed to enjoy her company, to one extent or another. She waited for what came next, but when the young woman spoke she regarded her coolly. There was a moment she believed this may be William's Adelaide but dismissed it, they would have known each other on sight. She could tell by Brendan's expression he also did not know who the young woman was but she made no comment, knowing what ever did exit her lips would not have been pleasant.

DCNSJgT.jpg

Emile gave a rather non-committal shrug in response to Chase's inquiry. "Not a change, mais something to add." He gave a slow smile as Chase continued on about his questioning him about Vitae. "We know what we know. Is enough pour quios je vieux. But you have things I might not know. You here is not because I want ... connaissance ... instruction... information!" He grimaced slightly, as always frustrated with the lack of knowledge English language. "You were here, offered a place, because we want our meute to be stronger."

He glanced the way Chase had indicated, he understood he was speaking about his niece Morgan, but the word he used was lost on him. "Fan?" He slowly shook his head, the only fan he understood was one that sent a breeze. "She does not know them, not well. She is too young to know, to rappeler, recall? what Borseti was like."

hK2KbsO.jpg

Christopher gave Thor a nod as he climbed into the SUV with them, though the go immediately started on the failure within New York and he groaned internally. He certainly did think this was a topic any of them wanted to speak of, more so that should they fail at their cause today that Hades would bring more devastation to their world. It were almost as though gods enjoyed tormenting the hunters of Vitae.

Thor soon displaced them, teleporting them so where he said was near New Jersey but the sensation was overwhelming. Christopher gripped the steering wheel, his eyes closed tightly as he fought to control his equilibrium. Slowly opening his eyes he could see that Aiden seemed less than thrilled at the experience but fairing far better than Bruce. The poor man scrambled at the door handle before freeing himself from the SUV and dashing down the side of the hill, emptying the contents of his stomach in the tall grass.

"Next time some warning, please." Christopher managed to say after he regained some of his composure.

William turned, eyebrows raised to glance at the same girl he'd noticed enter the tent earlier. He had been curious what she was doing here; he hadn't imagined that she was here for him. He was briefly concerned that this unassuming young girl was the deliverer of Franklin's promises, but he quickly dismissed that. She seemed to unsure of herself to be associated with the Den Master.

Will traded a quick glance with Mac and -- still holding Mac's hand -- he took a step toward the young woman. "That's me. William Hendrix. How can I help you?" he asked evenly.

fff_zps4rxngdyd.png

Chase huffed at the need of a translation, not because of Emile but more-so at not choosing his own terms more carefully with the Alpha. "She doesn't like them. Another meaning of a fan is, when someone likes something enough." Chase was by no means the type of person to teach someone a language and explain things but he'd try. "For instance I really like Spaghetti," He wasn't lost on the fact that the food was Italian and the irony with the current conversation. "So you could say I'm a fan of Spaghetti. Or, people who go to events to see performers are generally fans of the performers."

Chase crossed his arms over his chest as he leaned against the back of his chair. Despite everything he couldn't help the small pang guilt he felt as Emile spoke of not wanting Chase here for information, because that's exactly why he had come here and why the others wanted to send him to the pack. Though his reasoning didn't feel sound to Chase, "But you're the Alpha, aren't you supposed to put the good of the pack ahead of everything else? If I possibly have information that helps with that isn't it sort of your job to ask? Don't get me wrong, I'm happy not to have been grilled for information the moment I got here, just more or less surprised is all."

She looks up at him, trying to be more confident. "The man at the gate asked me to come talk to you. I just got here." She says.

She looks him over curiously. He seems a bit young to be in a position of power, so either he's really good, or it's just a testament to a hunter's lifespan.

"My name's Ginny Dreamer, nice to meet you." She says with a smile, extending a hand.

upload_2017-6-8_22-53-27.jpeg
William raised a hand as he felt his phone buzz in his pocket -- one short vibration, indicating a missed text. He pulled it out from his pocket just long enough to glance at the message on the screen from Bart. Nodding to himself, he slipped the phone back to his pocket and looked back up at Ginny, giving her a clinical albeit not cold gaze, as if assessing her worth. Then with a genuine smile of his own, he reached out to take her offered hand and shake it.

"I understand you know your way around a fight," he remarked impassively. "Mind if I ask for some clarification? I'm not sure how much Bart told you about the situation our Colony is in, but we're in need of skilled fighters. Veterans." He did his best to keep his tone from sounding dubious. It wasn't the fact that Ginny was female that made him skeptical; there were plenty of female Hunters out there who were every bit as capable as their male counterparts, if not more so. One was standing right next to him as they spoke.

Ginny's age, however, was another matter. She barely looked to be out of her teens; while a legacy like Mac or Elijah would have been lethal at her age, she didn't carry herself like a Generational Hunter... though they came in all shapes, sizes, and demeanors. He was willing to keep an open mind.

She nods. "Most of the time when it does come down to fighting, I use an ambush tactic. I find most things follow a certain pattern, and if I have enough time to figure it out, it makes it pretty simple. If there's no places to hide, my usual strategy is to feint, get under their guard, get a hit in, and get out."

She shrugs. "Of course, that's if I know how to kill the thing. If not, I've gotten very skilled at running away." She chuckles dryly. "More often than not, that's what it comes down to."

upload_2017-6-8_23-20-46.jpeg
William crossed his arms as Ginny spoke, index finger idly tapping against his bicep. "Well, 'discretion is the better part of valor'," he remarked. "There's nothing wrong with knowing your limits and striking from a position of advantage. It's smart. But what's coming for Vitae may not give you -- or any of us -- that opportunity. Make no mistake, this won't be a Hunt, Ginny. It's going to be a war," William said, holding eye contact. His tone was grave.

Will sighed, his voice softening. "Frankly we're not in any position to turn down able and willing hands, but I'm not putting anyone on the line without them understanding what it is they'll be getting into. No one will blame you if you decide to back out," he said.

She nods, setting her jaw. "Yeah, I know." She says softly. That actually makes her feel better about this. From what he said, this isn't like what happened to her family. These people were attacked first. "And yeah, I'll need training, but at least I won't be fighting alone anymore. If I get killed, that's just how it's going to be."

For her age, she seems oddly at peace with that notion. Then again, under her circumstances, she would have to be. Once she's found out, she's probably going to die, but at least she'll have done something worth doing.

Solomon smiled at Sandy and opened up the book they had taken with them as he waited. In all honesty Solomon was worried for what the future held for them. Not only was he sick and tired of being so powerless, but within that if he didn't find the Key of Solomon soon. The very world could end! If he could just get a hold of those old contracts all the big players of Hell would be under his control and he could, at least he hoped, stop the First Sin from breaking free! And yet here he was helpless in a wheelchair when he needed to be moving. While he wanted to send Pan out to search for it he wasn't about to let his one bodyguard leave him in such a state. Especially since it was him who put him here.

Hades would remain silent when Thor told him what his plan was. The God of the Dead couldn't do much until the Solar Eclipse, but he would at least use his influence to make sure there were plenty of ghosts and other lost souls within New Jersey when they got there. The ghosts were a bit of a wild card, but they wouldn't dare attack a God.

William was silent for several moments as Ginny spoke, chilled by the casual -- even flippant -- way she discussed her own mortality. Finally, he spoke up. "If you're willing to report for training, I have no issues with you joining up. However, the final call isn't mine to make. Councilman Jack here should weigh in, while Jon Diffey is in charge of housing. If you're accepted, you'll likely be staying in the barracks for the time being." Will turned toward Brendan, clearly deferring to the man.

"Next time, I will. It was not my intent to cause you any discomfort." Thor patted Christopher on the shoulder as he stepped out of the car. The god was by no means cruel, he was proud, true, but generally he liked humans. And harboured them to ill will. He would deal with the man on the road later, first he had to help Bruce that seemed to be feeling worse than nauseous. He walked down the side of a small hill to the man, and placed his palm on his head, removing the nausea in an instant. Chuckling he said "I will warn you next time."

There was still the matter of the man who saw them, he walked up on the hill again and turned his attention to the man "You don't seem suprised?" he asked, then he glanced at Christopher as to say What would you have me do with him?

Funny enough, seeing the man vomit made Eddie feel better. It meant that no matter what he just saw, he was looking at a human. He then turned his attention to the bearded man who addressed him. He shrugged after being asked why he didn't seem surprised.
"It's been a crazy few weeks for me. This may sound strange, but are you an angel?" He asked, pondering the man's apparent healing of his friend.
"The glory of the lord blinded me on this road, a few days walk behind me. Now I see a car come from thin air and a man who can help someone feel better with a touch. No, I'm not surprised, but I want to know what you know."
