Hypnos thought for a moment. He was trying to think of a way he could convince the colonists to pray to him on the night of the attack. Because he'd have already had to use the horn as the sun set to release the mist over this half of the world come night fall. If they wanted the wolves to be dealt with by Hypnos he would need their prayers to make sure he break even with his power. Yawning Hypnos said, " Well I'll just have to reveal myself to the entire colony and inform them of my plan. If they want a god to fix their problems shouldn't the least humans be willing to do is pray? As for the collateral damage of making citizens falling asleep. It wouldn't really be collateral damage. So long as the pack falls under my influence I can have them kill one another and the colony can have a well deserved peaceful nights rest."

It was getting harder for Hypnos to stay awake during the day. In fact this was the first time in his long life he had seen the Sun. He was sure Apollo was equally surprised. " I suppose the only left to do is tell the Elders of my plan. Then I need a nap." Hypnos stopped to yawn once again, " If you guys agree to my plan, or have no where else to turn. Then pray to me and I will wake. At the very least if you do that I'll guarantee your safety." With that Hypnos gathered up his artifacts and put them back into his bag and headed out the door looking for the command tent.

It didn't take long for Hypnos to find the command tent. It was marked and quite large. Walking inside the deity stopped in front of the Secretary. Smiling at her Hypnos asked, " Good morning, could you let the Elders now I'm here? I know they must be busy but tell them that Hypnos has a plan for the wolf problem."

s03e03_lastship_photo12.jpg

Chase watched as Hypnos put his artifacts away before leaving, his own mind not really certain on the subject. "I don't like it." Chase said blatantly to Elijah after Hypnos had gone. He'd ended up standing and pacing the room, nervous habit. "Too much rides on the assumption that he can get the entire pack under his spell. If something goes wrong and we are all asleep and even just one wolf gets in, our jugulars would just be momentary chew toys while it moved onto the next sleeping body." The man didn't like the thought of being immobile during such an attack at all. To allow someone else to deal with the problem was one thing, it was another to let your self be immobilized in the process. Hypnos may be a god, but nobody is without flaws or mistakes. Then again if it worked, that meant the possibility of no casualties. There was also the question of if Hypnos could indeed get the Werewolves to kill each other in their sleep, Chase understood there was some sort of bond when it comes to pack despite never having one of his own. What if that was enough for them to see through the illusion somehow.

"So I've noticed," William remarked flatly. He stood up. "Thank you, Brendan, for the opportunity. I'll do everything I can to keep this colony safe," he said. "If you'll excuse me, I'll start prepping right now." With a final nod to Brendan and the others, he exited the tent at a brisk pace, making his way back to the house. His head was still swimming, but now he was held steady by a newfound sense of determination. He had a job to do and -- for better or worse -- newfound resources to accomplish it with. He'd have to appoint someone he could trust to be his right hand... and in this Colony, that list was very, very short. The events earlier had seen to that. Hendrix knew that he couldn't make his appointment seem too cliquey, though. There was a fine line between outside perspective and what the locals would see as outside interference. Will frowned as Hypnos passed by  in the opposite direction, seemingly headed for the command tent. Ignoring the sight, he sighed as he approached the front door, hesitating briefly before knocking. He didn't want to catch anyone off guard, as tense as things were.

Elijah rubbed a hand across his forehead wearily. "I think Hypnos has some way to go in understanding the human thought process, especially when it comes to 'risk versus reward'," he said, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "I find the idea of the wolves killing one another in their sleep as enticing as the next Hunter, but it's a lot to take on faith. Then again, it's no secret that our odds in a straight-up fight aren't the greatest--" he stopped to look up at the door as he heard another knock.

dx0HE3H.jpg

Mackenzie would give an aggravated growl hearing the door knock yet again at this house, how anyone had got any sleep the night before she didn't know, and made the decision that once her car was in decent repair she'd be living inside of it again, just to avoid the near constant turn around of people.

Ashley was frowning from the kitchen, who else could have been visiting them now, but upon hearing Mackenzie's annoyed noise she was leaving her seat within the kitchen and hastily making her way down the hall the short distance to the front door.  Without hesitation, and wanting to avoid having Mac get out of bed, she'd pull open the door and looked stunned seeing William standing on the other side.  "Uhm."  She'd rise to her toes to look over his shoulder, and seeing no one she'd take a step back to allow him entrance. "You know you're staying here, right?"

Brendan would look up from the table where he was still working with Anna, hearing Hypnos' voice at the front of the tent, "Come in," He'd call out to the pagan god, "The council has been dismissed for today, we've adjourned until morning's meeting, unless there is an emergency.  What brings you here?"

When Hypnos heard Brendon's voice telling him to come in he gave a short nod to the secretary before walking in. When he heard the council was adjourned for the day he was a little disappointed, " I was hoping to catch all of you, but as you seem to be the decision maker here I guess it works out fine." Hypnos took his horn off his side and set it on the table. " I want to hold up my end of our deal Brenden. I can solve your wolf problem for you the night it happens using this." Hypnos said gently tapping his horn. " However to make sure I have the power necessary to kill the wolves I need something from the colony: Prayer. I need most of the residents to pray to me the night of the attack. This will ensure that no matter what happens that night I will be able to protect the colony. " Hypnos would wait for a moment to allow Brenden to process the plan. " I understand it would be hard to convince hunters to pray to a pagan god even if I could save thier lives. So if just you or your council pray it will be enough to ensure I make it back to the colony to help. However afterwards I will need to rest for a few days to gather my strength and will be unable to help no matter how prayers are sent to me." That last part was a half truth. In an emergency the prayers would give him strength, but it was unlikely he would be able to wake himself to help the colony.

Chase had followed Elijah's gaze towards the door which had interrupted the mans own thoughts on the subject, pausing in his pacing of the room. Ash was quick to open the door and it took a moment for Chase to realize it was the man from before who'd left, though it was hard to gauge the mans mood by his face in the doorway. Chase's slow pacing resumed momentarily before he stopped to lean against a wall sideways with his shoulder once he realized exactly what he was doing. Deciding to continue on Elijah's own words, "So we find a way to even the odds. Which means either boosting our own odds or finding a way to knock theirs down." Easier said than done. Momentarily Chase wrestled with the idea of letting them know of his plan to investigate the GPS coordinates that Elijah had given him, but the last thing he wanted was for someone to try and tag along. He didn't exactly plan to do said investigating as a human, but as a wolf. More information could be gathered that way, if any wolves remained in the area he could avoid giving himself away, and he could travel quickly if need be. Chase's plan involved Joe waiting by the truck a few miles off, and away from any chance of danger. However even Chase had doubts on this plan of his, which was probably why he decided to let them in on at least the smaller details.

"Hopefully I can find anything useful at this place." He'd said, waving the piece of paper slightly before putting it away in his back pocket and shrugged. "Maybe even some tracks that'll tell us which way is home for them.

Alex quickly found the shops, and set about gathering the supplies she needed. She mainly needed things to create a new hex-bag with. (She lost the other while she was running from an angry bunch of dogs. Don't ask.) After she paid, she started down the street, looking for something to occupy her until dark. She needed to hunt. Her water bottle was running out, and she was starting to feel the effects of hunger.

Will smirked at Ashley's comment. "I'm aware," he said. "I just didn't want to chance getting shot on the way in." He paused to listen to what Chase had to say, noting the scrap of paper in his hand. He shot a questioning glance at Elijah, who merely nodded in response. Hendrix looked back to Chase, "Not a bad idea. You need someone to back you up out there?"

Elijah continued to watch Will, noting the improvement in his demeanor. He was all business again. That was something, at least. "I'd be happy to tag along if you'd like," Davenport said, speaking up.

Ashley would shake her head and close the door behind William, she couldn't help but laugh a little to herself.  She was mildly aware of the men talking about heading outside the walls, and she knew if Mackenzie heard they'd be in for a fourth; she knew Mac wouldn't want them out there with the Pack.  She'd lightly make her way down the hall to peek in at Mackenzie, she was pretty much where she'd left her, though now she had several journals open on the bed around her, while she was sitting up.

Mackenzie would glance upwards though the thick lenses of her glasses and frown at Ashley, the girl had the gall to have a stupid smirk on her face. Hearing that the door had been William, why he'd knocked she'd never know, she'd gone back to her work; determined.  Dark eyes would turn downwards to the journal in her hands and she'd speak, coldly.  "Close the door."  She wanted nothing to do with Ashley or any type of socialization at this point.

Ashley would comply, pulling the door closed behind her as she stepped back into the hall, once more feeling guilty.

Brendan would listen to Hypnos's plan, stunned, he'd glance towards Anna, and nod.  She'd leave, knowing she was dismissed, and once she was gone from the tent Brendan would speak to Hypnos.  "I will do what I can to convince the Elders and Council of your plan, but I'm afraid getting the colony to believe, not only pray, to you, would be next to impossible.  Not in the days we have coming."  He was leaning back in his chair and considering their options.  "It certainly sounds like a decent shot at this, but, as I said, it will be hard to convince people to pray at all, let alone to a pagan god.  I will do what I can, but we will prepare irregardless, just in case this plan of yours does not work."

Hypnos nodded, " If need be I'm willing to reveal myself to the colony just like I did with you and the council. However I'll make sure they don't see this human disguise. The last thing I want them to know Is that I'm living among them. When you make the announcement to the colony I'll make an appearance and ask for thier help in protecting them. Though it's still up to them and you if you want my help. However I've also placed powerful wards around the perimeter of colony. These will do just as I plan to do and work towards putting the pack to sleep should they enter the colony. " Hypnos explained further, hoping that mention of his wards would further put the Elder at ease. " So at the very least even if I'm not called I can still help. Now if you'll excuse me I need a nap to prepare for the night." Hypnos said with a yawn. Taking his horn Hypnos excused himself and made his way back to the house. Not even bothering with the door Hypnos just turned himself in an ant an slipped under the door. Once inside he returned to a human form. He didn't arrive in time to hear anything said so he just yawned again at waved at the group before making his way to the couch without a sound and after setting his bag down beside the couch immediately fell asleep.

s03e03_lastship_photo12.jpg

Chase's breath hitched and internally he cursed himself for having even opened his mouth, as both of the other men asked if he needed any help. The man turned from Will to Elijah and back again with a smile, "No, I'll have my dad out there with me and he'll probably be bringing two of his friends. But thanks anyway." So only a half-lie technically, it was workable. "Besides, it sounds like you've all been through enough recently. Take the down-time while you've got it."

The buzz in his pocket made Chase fish out his phone once again, 'What have you roped us into already?Would be the text he'd read from Joe. "Speaking of which, I should probably be getting ready." Leaving just before it was dark was his initial plan, so that when they arrived at the destination it would be dark and Chase could use that as cover. Not that he really wanted them to know that. "Someone want to exchange numbers in case we need to get in contact?" Holding up his cell he gave it a little jiggle in his hand. "And if I find anything you all will be the first to know."

Dayne Matthews

Dayne had been travelling for some time now. While he was usually left to himself, with the rare vision it seemed now

someone was guiding him somewhere. The visions felt more fleshed out and heavy with underlaying instructions.

It set Dayne on edge because a dark shape was appearing and telling him about a colony that he would be safe in.

This is what led him here, driving along in a beat up SUV, the visions had been decreasing in frequency since he started travelling

so he could only assume that this meant he was going in the right direction.

The walls of the colony appeared and while Dayne should have felt relief, instead he felt on edge. What if he lured something while

in the safe area. Pulling up at the colony, he got out and waited to be met by someone who no doubt had been told of his arrival since

people had spotted him as he got closer to the colony

(Not tagging anyone since I have not spoken to anyone yet)

"Fair enough," Will remarked to Chase as he fished his phone from his pocket; when the man was ready, he'd rattle off his number to him. "Send me a text and I'll store yours," he said. "And watch your back out there."

Elijah turned to watch the now-collapsed form of Hypnos, shaking his head. To be a pagan god, he often came across as more of a narcoleptic college student. It was... a very human perspective on the deity. Davenport wasn't sure whether he should find that comforting or vaguely disconcerting. He shook his head, turning his attention down the hall to Ash. He approached slowly, rubbing the back of his neck. "How is she?" he asked.

dx0HE3H.jpg

An older man was seated atop the walls, given his designation among the Officials, he was in charge of maintaining watch and taking care of any new arrivals.  He'd watched the beaten SUV make it's way down the long road, but he'd waited for it to come a full stop at the gates before he'd move.  Clambering down the ladder he'd approach the driver's side, friendly be cautious.  Naturally his gaze would wander within the confines of said vehicle, searching for potential threats.  He'd wait for the window to be lowered before speaking.  "Howdy,"  He'd start, offering a smile.  "Names Bart, what brings you to Vitae this fine afternoon?"  The driver was far too young to be a Hunter, but he'd seen plenty of stranger things these recent days.

Ashley would only shake her head as Eli asked how Mac was.  "Not good."  She'd seen this sort of mood from Mackenzie previously, and it rarely ended well.  "I'm pretty sure she's in pain, physically, but won't say anything."  Blue eyes kept watch on the door, as though she could see through it.  "If she weren't she'd be out hunting now, wanting to kill."  She'd sigh and raise her hands to her face, leaning her head back against the wall opposite the doorway to the bedroom.  After a few seconds she'd recover, looking towards Eli.  "Did you see her eat this morning?  When you were up with her?"  Anything to draw her thoughts away from her guilt, anything to try and pay her penance for her transgressions.

Mackenzie was annoyed and frustrated, she hated reading over her families, her brothers journals, a physical reminder of her and their failure to end their families blood ties with the pack.  Years ago their methods made sense, they'd done everything they'd been trained to do, but now with a decade plus of experience, reading over their plans made her angry with herself.  They'd been fools to think the three of them could take on the pack, child hunters thinking they were gods, and not caring for mortality.  It needed to be done, to be reviewed, to see if she'd missed anything, something that could help them.

Dayne Matthews

Dayne stepped out of the suv to the older gentleman, he held his hands out in a way that showed he meant no harm.

"I was told that this is a safe haven for anyone passing through, ive been travelling for days now. Please I need somewhere to rest"

Dayne was exhausted from travelling, plus he had lost a lot of sleep from the visions that he had been given at such a high frequency to make sure he had gotten here. He did not know any other way of explaining his reason for being here. He did not know where the visions came from so he had no idea of who to say or what sent him here. But apparently he just had to be here. He did not question it but he hoped that if this colony was a safe area that he could contribute to its upkeep.

"Please, I will chip in with jobs, anything that needs doing. Its just im exhausted and I cannot keep going much longer"

He explained to the older gentleman. Meanwhile his lure was starting to act like a beacon subconsciously calling out to anything supernatural in the area around the colony

Chase Keaton & Joe Keaton

"Always." Chase had said in reply to Hendrix, before giving a small wave to the others then leaving the home. He'd of course sent a quick text to Will with the supplied number, then called Joe up telling the older man to meet him by the truck.

---

Minutes later Chase and Joe would be by their vehicle, Chase checking a few things in the back seat while Joe stood leaning against the back of the SUV. "This is a terrible plan." The older man spoke with a sigh. Chase scoffed as he peeked his head back around the back of the SUV, taking a step away from the open door. "Great plan." He'd corrected. "I don't like you going alone." Joe said, turning to look at his son. Chase merely shrugging as he closed the door to the SUV and walked out to stand beside Joe, "It's not like we haven't done this before, it works...most of the time.

Joe didn't seem confident, "But we've never done it with wolves. If you run into any out there..." Chase cut him off, "If I do. I'm not going out there looking for a fight or to hunt, I'm just going to check around and see what I can find." Joe very stubbornly pushed off the car, "And you won't be able to use howls to signal me, or you'll alert any wolves for miles." This was the downside Chase had realized earlier that wasn't ideal. In most situations he'd howl consecutively depending on the situation, for Joe to hear and know how to react. Whether Chase would give the all clear, ask for backup, or tell him that Chase was retreating his way with something on his tail. One howl, two howls, three howls. Those were the generic signals they used.

Throughout this process Chase had kept looking in the general direction of the front gate. Joe, finally getting tired of it spoke up. "Why do you keep looking towards the gate?" Chase simply looked at his father with a confused look, "I'm not." But Joe simply dropped it. "I'm not exactly thrilled with leaving you alone either you know." The younger had spoken up with a sigh. "Yeah well, Roland is too busy with what's going on here at the colony to come with us. Unless you wanted to bring along those people you met as backup." Chase sighed, he admitted to giving the thought with the fact that two of them had offered to go but shook his head. "And if we did that I'd either have to spill the beans to one of them, or not shift at all." Joe gave him a shrug, "We have a while left before we go so you have time to think about it. I'm leaving that decision up to you, it's your secret."

After a heated argument with an herb seller about the sage she bought being half parsley, Alex headed towards the gate. She was starting to feel closed in by the people and walls. She stuffed her hands into the pockets of her oversized hoodie and sighed. Maybe a little bit of hunting would calm her nerves. Almost there. Now all she had to do is make sure no one saw her hunting.

Eli thought back to that morning. It seemed so long ago since he'd been sitting across from Mack at the table... things had gotten very complicated in a small amount of time. He nodded to Ashley, "Yes, there was already a plate in the sink and some food missing when I got to the kitchen, so she must have eaten something." He sighed, but gave his best reassuring smile nonetheless. "As for everything else... what's coming for Vitae has all of us on edge. You're her best friend. If anyone can pull her back from the brink, it's you."

After Chase left, Will took a moment to pour himself a cup of water from the sink and toss it back. His mouth was bone dry -- from the stress, anger, and tension if he had to guess. Setting the glass in the sink, he began to head down the hallway, stepping past Elijah and Ash before entering the room he shared with the former. Catching Davenport's eye, he gestured into the room, hoping he'd understand that they needed to have a private chat when he got the opportunity. Eli nodded in return before returning his attention to Ashley.

The Vitae guard would raise his hands in false surrender as the young man started ranting.  "Wow now, Easy."  He'd offer a polite smile.  "We're friendly here at Vitae, there's a place for anyone looking, we only ask that you do a few tests for us first, nothing that'll hurt yea, just some city traditions."  The man was pulling a silver flask from his pocket, filled with holy water.  "Just take a sip of this, and when you're done, you can go ahead in."  He'd hold out the flask for Dayne to take, "Don't know about safe, looks like Vitae is heading into some dark waters, but we protect ours here; if you want in, that'll include you."

Ashley would smile appreciatively to Eli comments, if only she could believe him.  She didn't think Mackenzie would ever forgive her, and if she did, the other woman certainly wouldn't trust her again.  She caught the moment between Eli and William and would nod towards to bedroom.  "Looks like he needs you,"  She'd was turning to return to the kitchen when she'd pause, and look at him oddly.  "I've gotta ask this, and I think you'd be the only person who knows the answer but," She'd trail off, glancing back towards the door.  "Do you know what Bubble and Squeak is?"  Eyes would return to Eli, expectantly.  "Mac asks for it at every British Pub we've ever sat down at and every time the server never knows what she's talking about."  Ashley was hoping to decipher the odd request of food so she could find and/or prepare it for her forlorn friend.

As Hypnos slept on the couch his subconscious mind or divine essence floated about the home listening to the others intently. There wasn't much for the deity to do now besides sleep and wait for night fall. It was during the night that his divine duties beckoned him from his rest. The suffering of the dying was yet another ailment that the deity tried to cure, but he could be afford to split his power up to give every human the comfort he thought they deserved. So only a select few would receive a visit the deity known as the vanquisher of woes.

As his thoughts drifted Hypnos noticed the arrival of what could be a very important player within the colony, His own Oracle. Hypnos had been leading the Oracle here to the colony to guarantee his safety, but also because he may be able to use his Oracle to find push the colony in the direction of finding his wife. People don't tend to believe when a god walks among them, but a prophet or an Oracle? The people have been seeking the wisdom of such people across the ages. Feed the Oracle a few dreams about the impending disaster or some personal details of a person's life and they'll believe.

Hypnos used his power to send his Oracle another vision. This one of the command tent and a name: Brendan. This would push his Oracle to the head of this colony and with his Oracle here Hypnos could dedicate more time to searching the earth for his wife.

Dayne Matthews

Dayne took the drink of water and it felt no different than anything else. It felt refreshing to be sure but nothing else other than that.

He handed the flask back and stood there waiting for the guards judgement.

Dayne could feel a vision coming on and braced himself, as his body started to react, he made a show of rubbing his eyes as if he was tired.

His eyes always went cloudy when he got a vision.

He saw a single man, what link this guy had he did not know. Once the vision was over he stood in front of the guard waiting for judgement.

If he received another vision here then he had to be here, for what reason he did not know but they seemed like decent enough people here.

Elijah's mouth slowly curved into a smile. "I should. I ate it more times than I care to count growing up." He slowly crossed his arms, holding one hand up to illustrate. "Say you have a roast for supper. All well and good, but what about the leftover veggies?" Eli's tone was a thinly-veiled impersonation of an instructor passing on vital information to a student. "We Brits found the answer. Take whatever half-fried bits you have on hand: cabbage, carrots, peas, whatever. Mix them with mashed potatoes and fry the whole batch until it's nice and brown. Trust me: you'll figure out where the name comes from if you do it right." Davenport shrugged, dropping the faux seriousness in favor of enthusiasm. "Don't be afraid to mix in a few other odds and ends. Some people throw in sausage or pickles. There's no one way to cook it. That's the beauty of it, I imagine. My mom used to--" he paused, his expression suddenly darkening. Elijah cleared his throat, eyes glancing toward the floor. When he looked back up, his voice was neutral. "Anyway, good luck. Let me know if you need any help. I'm not as handy with a skillet as I am a sword, but even I can't mess up Bubble & Squeak."

Davenport turned on his heel without another word, entering the room he shared with Will. Hendrix was waiting for him, sitting on the edge of his bed. "So, what was your mystery meeting about? Are we about to be chased from the town by torches, pitchforks, and baying hounds?" Elijah asked with a grin, taking a seat on his own bed.

Will sighed, shaking his head. "The Elders just asked me to join the Council." There was a long silence, Davenport's mouth forming an "O" of surprise.

"Well, then," was all the Englishman could muster.

"Yep."

"...Did you accept?"

Will nodded with a sigh. "For the time being. They want me to help coordinate the defense of the colony. After that, I don't know. They did authorize me to choose an aide -- a 'deputy', I guess you could say," he said, narrowing his eyes at Elijah.

The younger man caught on immediately, shaking his head vehemently. "Oh, no. I'm no politician. 'Hearts and minds', 'Rangers Lead The Way' -- that's all you." He stopped the rant before it could truly begin, taking a deep breath. "You know I'll do everything I can to help protect these people and I'll have your back in the meantime. But... find someone else to play the sidekick?"

Hendrix rubbed a weary hand across his forehead. "Yeah, okay." He stood up from the bed. "I've got work to do." With that, he made his way back into the hall.

dx0HE3H.jpg

The older man would reclaim his silver flask, he'd glance to another Official on the wall and signal for the gates to be opened. "Alright, son." He'd begin, replacing the lid as he spoke. "You're going to take this main drag through the center of town to tent, can't miss it.  Call Command.  There you're going to ask for Council Member Jonathan Diffey.  He's our housing and civilian man, he'll find you a place to rest, and get you situated when it comes to work and all that."  He was returning the flask to his pocket, heading back towards the walls.  "Oh," He'd pause and turn to look back at Dayne.  "Welcome to Vitae."

Ashley would listen to Eli, smiling hearing his passion, happy to finally know what it was.  Hash.  Or at least that's what her mother had always called it, it was always what they had for lunch the day after Easter or Christmas; their left over meal made into a fried, delicious, mess.  When Eli's expression darkened, and his voice fell flat she knew, once again, she'd dug up someone else's old, and clearly, painful memories.  He'd left, without giving her a chance to apologize, she watched him go, now facing two closed bedroom doors, she was beginning to feel like it was her curse to alienate herself from the other residents.  She decided then she would continue on her plan, hoping it wouldn't offend Eli.  She would head towards the front of the house, readying to go to the Mess Hall to see if they had what she would need to prepare a dinner.

Mackenzie's mood was only darkening, she knew it, could tell simply based on what she'd been writing as translation from her youngest brother's journal.  It had been purely written in French, Graeham's preferred language, and she'd been translating copies of the "useful" information into English, but when ever she came across a passage that was foolish in thought, she wanted to tear the page out of the book.  She knew her anger was directly related to her pain, her back was agony; sitting up was making her sore, it felt like fire was burning her skin.  She'd idly thought of searching out William for drugs she'd been given to relieve the pain, but didn't want to be in that state of mind again.  She needed to be sharp, aware of her surroundings.  With an aggravated sigh she'd close the book and toss it onto the bed, opting for at least laying down, curled up on her side,  for now, hoping it would help

Chase Keaton & Joe Keaton

The two mean drove in their Toyota truck, exiting by the gate. Joe providing a wave towards the guards by the gate from the drivers seat, before being allowed to exit. Driving by the other vehicle stopped just outside with another guard speaking to it's driver, Chase turned in his seat to look back at the vehicle with narrowed eyes as they drove away. "What is it?" Came Joe's curious voice, breaking the silence. "I...don't know." Chase replied, for some reason feeling the urge to check said vehicle. Finally he exhaled and turned back to normal in his seat. If they weren't setting out with a goal in mind he might have suggested Joe do just that.

Almost immediately he started to pick up scents, his eyes looking out his passenger window at the nearby forest. Chase's eyes strained to check every detail of the tree-line, "Dad, head off that way. Forget the road." Joe's response was to open his mouth to argue, though when he saw the intense look on his son's face he understood. And instead of following the road away from Vitae they cut across a field not far out, heading for the nearby forest. At the treeline Joe stopped the truck and the two exited, Joe turning to look at the colony walls in the distance. "Chase what did you smell? You know I hate to have to ask the questions, considering I won't get the info if I don't." Chase simply rounded the vehicle with a look of discontent, "Werewolves have been here, at the colony. Smelled them practically after we left the gate, two...maybe three all likely scouts. Faint though, so it wasn't in the last few hours." Chase was already starting to pull his shirt off. The older man groaned as he rubbed a hand down his face, "You're kidding. Well that can't be ignored, but is this the best idea you can come up with? Running off after them?"

Chase just gave him a quick smile, "You know I like to think on the fly, besides...the car might spook them and I haven't the slightest clue how far behind we are. I have time to make up and it's quicker this way. Look, just wait here and if anything happens you aren't far from Vitae." Chase was looking on the upside and cheerful, whilst Joe was more or less annoyed by this point. Chase rounded the vehicle once more so that the hood was between the two for a little more privacy. "I'll keep an eye on your tracker then." Joe spoke, pulling out his phone. Chase paused in his undressing and stood back up with a confused look, "That thing still works?" When Chase was younger and first learning to shift Joe had placed a tracker under his skin just in case, placed near his ankle so that the shift wouldn't destroy it. Young Chase hated it for so many reasons, teenage Chase even more so, but once he'd started hunting with Joe after graduating it had it's useful moments.

Once he was fully undressed Chase laid his clothes on the hood before crouching and shifting into his wolf form. The large wolf moved slowly around the side of the truck to Joe's side, the man was still looking at his phone and hadn't noticed until he heard the small growl Chase let out of his maw. Joe sighed as he locked eyes with the amber eyed wolf standing before him, "You're too stubborn for your own good....be careful." With a small shake of his orange-ish red furry coat the wolf turned and sprinted into the tree-line. Chase had their scent, and he'd be damned if he didn't bring back some sort of useful information.

Alex finally got out the gate. She walked to where she parked her truck and opened the passenger door. Pulling out a pair of sweatpants, she pulled off her jeans and pulled them on. Throwing her jeans in her truck along with her hoodie, she shut the door. She walked until she was out of sight of the town, and ran. Seconds later, she was at the edge of a forest. She crinkled her nose at what she smelled: something similar to wet dog. She shrugged it off as the wildlife, and raced through the trees, occasionally running up one and backflipping. This was basically the only part she enjoyed about being a vampire. She laughed as the wind at her face tore away her hunger for a few moments in time. Right then and there, she was herself. Not a vampire, not a hunter, but a girl having fun.
