After "Edgar" had settled in and placed most of his belongings in the barracks, he decided that he might as well kill some time by training with the humans. Not that he expected to gain anything from it, but watching the hunters trying to beat him would be highly amusing. He would of course have to severely pull his punches and in general hold back, unless he wanted to shatter bones, decapitate or otherwise dismember the humans.

There wasn't much lfe in Vitae as he left the barracks and headed towards building where hunters trained hand-to-hand, the fact that it was overcast made even the sky look dead. As he pushed open the wooden door, he found himself in a rather run down version of a human martial arts studio. Everything was well used, and it had two octagons in the center, of which only one was being used.

The deity watched a strong looking bald man make short work of another hunter as he entered, two other hunter were taking a break and looked as if they had been drowned prior to "Edgar" entering. He called out "Can I have a try?" with a sly smile, the bald hunter looked at him suspiciously as he had never seen the man before, but figured he must be new and shrugged, replying "Sure."

The deity put on gloves designed for mixed martial arts and entered the octagon, the man raised his hands and entered a fighting stance, he paused briefly when he saw that the new man made no attempt to shield himself, but "Edgar" nodded to show that he could proceed. No doubt the man thought that he was arrogant and stupid, and threw a quick jab aimed at the deity's face, however Edgar's arm flew up with a lightning speed and blocked the punch, catching the man off guard, the deity then retaliated by throwing a hook into his ribs that made the man pull back, and now that he had created some distance, "Edgar" threw a quick kick at his left inner thigh, that sent the man collapsing into the floor.

Even though he was holding back, the force in the deity's blows was still great, and the bald hunter might as well have been struck by a Telephone pole. Even though the man's ribs were hurting and he couldn't put as much weight on his leg, he wasn't finished yet, and he got up on his feet and nodded to show that he was ready to go on.

The deity smiled and advanced on him.

Ginny leaves a note for Solomon to tell her where she'll be, deciding to go train, knowing she'll have to hold back to keep the hunters from getting suspicious. When she gets there, she raises her eyebrows, getting there in time to see Edgar knock another man flat. She sits down to watch, not having met either of these men, and rather curious.

William was initially quite satisfied with himself when Mackenzie took the dress from him... but knew at the sound of her initial reply -- the almost sharp emphasis on the pet name she threw back at him -- that he had made a mistake. His smile faded as he listened, face paling ever so slightly. Her promise was far more effective in getting Mac's point across than any shouted threat would have been. He tried and failed to hold eye contact with her as she began stripping out of her clothes, his eyes dropping shamelessly though he knew it wouldn't help his case in the least. He saw Ashley-May, suspiciously silent, slipping out of sight.

Despite Ash's betrayal, Will decided to keep up a strong facade, he looked back at her and spoke with a confidence he didn't quite feel. "I'm good for it." He stepped behind her, grabbing the shoulders of the dress to help her into it.

Eddie entered the command tent, looking around to see if it was the right place. He asked a man for directions earlier and was told to find a huge tent and speak to the receptionist. 'The people here are pretty friendly... at least more so than New Jersey.' He thought before speaking. "I'm trying to talk to someone in charge.. a councilman I believe? Hendrix was his name. Although it doesn't have to be him." The receptionist asked for his name to which he replied, "Eddie Stevens. And don't worry, I won't wander far." He was almost out of the tent completely by the time he finished the sentence. He could tell by the receptionist writing everything down that no one was in at the moment, and by the lack of chairs that it was customary to not wait up. he rolled his shoulders and stretched, before his eyes fell on a building that someone exited. As the door opened he could hear the noises of either sport or fighting. Either would be better to watch than the clouds above. As he entered he noticed Ginny. He almost said something, before realizing what she was watching. An incredibly one sided fight went on in the octagon in front of her. He approached the cage and whistled in an impressed manner. Mackenzie certainly did not miss Ashley-May skulking her way out of the room with the wishful thinking she was safe from recourse. She eyed Will over her shoulder as he assisted in dressing her, she hated the damned thing -always had and Franklin had made it a point in her life to send her to as many black-tie events as necessary; she assumed just to annoy her. She turned to face him, tilting her chin upwards to look at him sternly. "See, you keep saying that: that you're good for it but you have yet to pay up."

Chase chuckled at Morgan's sudden giddiness, quite possibly going a light shade red even though he wasn't really embarrassed. The man simply gave a light shrug of the shoulders, keeping his eyes on the path ahead despite the jumping jelly bean in the passenger seat. "It just well...happened. Your uncle is quite the scoundrel, taking advantage of a very clearly emotionally distraught man who is grieving." Chase's tone made it clear he was teasing, though possibly a little true it might have been the push they needed. After he'd been allowed back in the pack Chase expected any hint of what little flirting they'd done to have ceased. But somehow it had risen up and moved past just flirting. Laying out the truth had been enough for Chase to open up to the possibility, and Emile had jumped at the chance.

"But I'm not usually one to kiss and tell." The man smirked knowing full well she'd either pout or put up more of a fight in response. The vehicle reached the first sign of civilization, a road. Turning onto it he risked a glance at the female, "I take it I have your blessing then?" Chase hadn't really thought what he'd said through and if it would carry over into words that the werewolf and her customs would understand. Simply put they were each others only family and he wanted to be sure Morgan didn't mind him being in a potential relationship with her uncle.

William gave Mackenzie a bemused glance, hands sliding down to rest on her hips as he spoke. "And here I thought that last night..." he cleared his throat before adding, "...not to mention earlier in the Beast -- would have been enough for a down payment at least."

His mouth curved into a smile as he suddenly lifted her petite frame up into his arms, so that she was eye-level with him. "What will this cost me? Dinner? Booze? Detailing the Beast?" he asked teasingly before leaning in to rest his forehead on hers. "Or maybe you're actually a Crossroads Demon in disguise? Out to take my soul with a kiss?"

Adelaide 3.jpg
Adelaide stood in front of the mirror, having dried her hair and donned the dress provided to her by Ash. Twisting around to examine herself, she smiled contently. She was slightly taller and more thinly-built than Ashley-May, resulting in the garment being slightly loose and perhaps a bit short on her -- though not enough to be risque. Gathering up her things, she dropped them off in her room before heading back toward the center of the house to wait for the others.

Morgan wrinkled her nose as Chase playfully concluded that her uncle had taken advantage of him, she huffed and rolled her eyes sitting back in the passenger seat. As they came to the road she pulled the seat belt and buckled herself in. "I have a feeling it might be the other way around, hunter." She eye'd him with a smirk. "This poor old Alpha Werewolf, perfectly happy with his wolf ways then this sly little coyote looking wolf wanders in and wags his tail...." She smirked and slowly shook her head. "You wait until we get home, the old ladies are going to be all over you."

He asked if she gave her blessing and she nodded. "I think you both need each other, even if it's not forever," She shrugged. "It'll be good for both of you, and it'll be nice to see Emile back to his old ways again. You make him... playful? Less serious. It's a nice change."

Mackenzie did her best to keep her serious glare and narrowed eyes as Will spoke about previous payments, but she couldn't stop the smirk from crossing her lips. Of course the man would bring that into the equation. He lifted her and she slid her arms around his neck, leaning in against him as she wrapped her legs around his hips, holding herself against him. He was soon suggesting she was a Demon and she feigned offense. "Oh honey," She purred. "You wish I were a demon, because ti's not that easy to get rid of me." She leaned in to kiss his lips gently, giving his lower lip a playful bite.

Ashley-May was soon exiting the Master Bath only to pause one step back into the bedroom. "Are you two serious?" She chastised, tossing her clothing onto the bed and shaking her head. "I was gone less than five minutes and you're already like this, again." She huffed playfully and headed for the door. "Let's go you two, before I get the hose out. At the very least you're in the right room this time." She stepped out into the hall to see Addy waiting by the foyer, she glance back to the two still within the room. "You're making us wait."

With the modest Church and Funeral Home prepped the minister and director waited at the doors for the colony to attend; for the funeral itself only the hunters part of Brendan and William's teams had been invited, however the remainder of the colony were encouraged to join the rest for the burial service and memorial that would occur afterwards. Brendan made his way from his home, wife at his side, as did the other Council members, to the Church and Funeral Home. Brendan had hoped that Will had managed to convince Chase to return to the colony and attend. He knew the hunter had been on a mission assigned by Hendrix himself, for the colony's safety but details had never been shared -and he had not asked.

"You wish I were a demon, because it's not that easy to get rid of me."

William grinned, returning her playful kiss eagerly, letting out a slight grunt of surprise at her gentle bite. "Who says I want to?" he murmured against her lips. He heard the bathroom door open, followed quickly by Ashley-May's chastising tone. He continued smiling, acting as if he didn't hear her until she finally stepped into the hall, at which point he acquiesced, setting Mac down and wrapping his hand around hers. He briefly leaned in to whisper to his girlfriend, "Will you ask her about the eulogy? It's no pressure on her... but I can't think of anyone else." With that, he turned and followed the woman out into the foyer.

Stepping into the central room, Will looked between the three of them before giving Ash a sympathetic glance. "You guys go ahead. I have to go get Elijah. You'll be happy to know his preparations included an involuntary sponge bath courtesy of Nurse Ruth. And Ash, there's a peace offering for you in the freezer when you get back."

Adelaide found herself grinning, both at the prospect of Elijah enduring what was no doubt a harrowing (and well-deserved in her opinion) experience as well as the fact that he'd apparently gone through the trouble of fetching ice cream solely to appease Ashley-May.

"You madam, know exactly how to wound me with the coyote comments ." He spoke, poking out fake his lips in a fake pouting face before it faded into a smile as he couldn't truly hold that half-assed charade for long. Though he raised his eyebrows in amusement when she mentioned he'd been the one taking advantage of Emile, eyes staying on the road ahead. "Oh well if all it takes is a little tail wagging then that uncle of yours is a bit easier than I'd imagined." He noted jokingly, enjoying the banter between the two of them. It was a different contrast into what he imagined this drive would have been like had he been alone with nothing but his own thoughts to keep him occupied.

Chase shook his head, "No, I think I'll just keep myself hidden behind whoever is present and sneak away if they come for me." The mans head cocked to the side in a moment of thought at what Borseti was like, filled with the less fitted for travel pack members among those who remained to protect them. Chase hadn't expected to think about ever going back with them until now. It could be home, he realized...Borseti could be what Vitae was supposed to be. The man thought this over as Morgan essentially confirmed her blessing. Despite the good mood he knew for the moment he wanted to change the subject to something less so, but he kept a light smile on his face anyways.

"Feelings aside, do you think he made the right call...letting me come back?" His words were neutral, clearly wanting to simply know her thoughts on the subject. Though it wasn't until after he asked it that he realized it wasn't really a proper question when it came to pack rules, the Alpha made a decision and it wasn't her place to say anything against it unless she wished to challenge said decision. The man bit his cheek momentarily trying to find a way to express that he wanted her honest opinion. "Let me revise that, since you made most of that clear in the showers." And she had, mentioning him as part of the pack and coming now to not only support him but watch his back. However it didn't mean she didn't have any kind of small reservation.

"Is there anything you want to say to me or ask me? Everything is fair game, and it all stays between us with no hard feelings. It's a free pass redeemable for this one car ride."
Chase looked her direction with a quick wink. That made more sense than his dumb question, let her speak her peace or ask anything with no consequences if she trusted him to keep his word. She'd been there in the woods, probably understood a portion if not all that he'd told Emile. She was not only the other mans blood relative but in line to be Alpha, giving her this opportunity was fair in Chase's opinion.

Mackenzie walked hand in hand with Will into the front of the house where the other two were waiting. She was surprised to hear Will ask her to see if Ash would do Joe's eulogy, she had figured Chase would be the one to speak on his father behalf but she nodded nonetheless, she was certain Ash would do it.

Ashley-May couldn't stop the slight smirk from crossing her lips as Elijah's fate: he had protested enough previously that she had managed to convince the man to get help bathing. She could only imagine how angry he was now that Ruth had had her hands on him. She quickly pushed the thoughts away -she wasn't that sort of person, or at least did want to be the type to gloat at someone else's misery no matter how much they had hurt her. "I hope he's not too sore." She said quietly but arched an eye brow at the mention of something in the icebox. He stepped out and she glanced to Addy before hurrying to the kitchen to fling open the freezer. "Oh my God!" she closed the door and grinned at the two women. "He got me ice cream."

Morgan watched Chase as he questioned how she felt about him being allowed to remain in the pack. She had an easy answer to this: If the Alpha trusted him so did she. That's how the pack worked, loyalty to the Alpha but it was also her opinion. She didn't know Chase was well as Emile did so to pass judgment on an act he thought was for the good was beyond her. She waited as he rephrased his question and she bit the inside of her cheek in thought.

Eyes focused on the road as she spoke, voice soft and her tone taking a serious note. "When did you decide the Pack were not Monsters?" She turned to regard him. "I was there when Emile first spoke to you, I helped chase you to him. He told you then why we were here. You knew the truth then. And then you came to the pack on behalf of the colony to spy on us, to find a weakness and exploit it. When did you decide we were not evil, not monsters lurking in the darkness?"

Adelaide could sense Ash's initial satisfaction with the news of Elijah's fate, only for the woman to immediately moderate it. She raised her eyebrows in surprise, not knowing if she would be as understanding in the woman's position.

William was slightly surprised at Ashley-May's expression of mild concern for Eli. He figured she would have been delighted to hear about his fate and he wouldn't have blamed her in the least. He grinned at the woman's reaction to his gift as she stood beaming at the others. "Binge to your heart's delight. I had to tell the lunch lady it was for my nephew," he said, somewhat sheepishly. "I hope that's not too... presumptuous."

He shrugged. "I'll meet you guys at the chapel," Will said before stepping out the front door.

Adelaide shook her head, heading over to the door. "Shall we?"

d425f2e3c2a448e1a5657bc280dca247.jpg

Chase nodded at her question, listening as she continued speaking. When she mentioned his first run-in with the pack he sighed, "To be fair, you and the pack made me into a corralled animal. Not the greatest first impression, not to mention I'd already been through a scuffle with a pair from that other pack. And at the time I didn't know if you were from the same pack or not. Back then I'd already had my mind made up between vitae's views, what I assumed was a threat to the entire colonies lives, and my own interactions." There was a small groan like noise as he paused, nearly hesitating to say the next part, "Not to mention how I already felt about wolves to begin with." Chase turned his head to look at her with a flash of a slightly apologetic smile before concentrating back on the road.

Chase then sought to actually answer her question, head leaning slightly in thought. "There were the little things here and there...the hunt, seeing you and Emile interacting at the creek...But it didn't hit me completely until the night of my uh...joining. When I met the individuals of the pack, names, faces, and actually getting to speak to them. Emile's...honestly probably helped a bit too. Not once did he shy away from my questions even if they weren't a comfortable subject." Chase shrugged, it was difficult to pinpoint the moment he'd decided they weren't monsters.

"I was very closed minded about everything at first. Just trying to do my job..." One he'd failed at.

Mackenzie's heart swelled at hearing Will admit that he told the Lunch Lady that it was for his nephew -and that he thought of Ash's child that way. It was certainly how she felt about the addition to their odd family. She watched Will go before nodding to Adelaide as she suggested venturing to the Church; there wasn't a point in driving since it was not very far from the Council's houses. She turned to Ash to see her partner tearing up, no doubt the Grace doing work on her hormones once more. "Okay Crazy." Mac had to intervene otherwise they'd get nowhere. She pushed the freezer door close and too Ash's hand. "I heard the lunch ladies were making the food for the wake reception afterwards." She nodded towards the door giving Adelaide a wink. "Let's go."

Ashley-May sniffed but nodded, with Mac's encouragement she headed for the door hand in hand with her partner.

Morgan nodded, hearing Chase's reply. She gave him an earnest smile "Thank you." Her question hadn't meant to be malicious or given with any mal-intent, she was honestly curious when he had changed his opinion of the Pack. "I needed to know. " She confided. "Because you are a hunter, you were part of the colony and those are the people we're trying to sway the opinions of. Emile is good at what he does, he's a great Alpha; I've heard of others, and even encountered some, that were far more.... dominating than he is. Some are cruel and horrible people to their own pack and to other wolves and humans alike." She glanced back to the road as she continued, Vitae's gates in the distance. "And as good as he is, he has flaws. His English, for example, is going to be a problem. He's going to want to try and turn the hearts and minds of the men and women inside the colony, make them understand why we're here, what we want, like you have, but getting it across en-mass is going to be a problem."

She tilted her head back against the head rest, looking at the ceiling. "I know that Emile is keeping you, Brody and Malcolm away when we go in to Vitae, so I was hoping you could give me some tips on what I can do or say that helped convince you?" She smiled and looked back at him. "I guess if I'm going to be Alpha one day I better start learning how to do this, right?"

Adelaide barely managed to hide her smile at the sight of Ashley-May's joyful tears. She knew the Nephilim was largely to blame for her being so emotionally overwhelmed, but all the same it was clear Will's sentiment had had an effect. Her empathy began working its mojo again and she felt the warmth in her own chest and knew she'd have to listen to Mac and head outside before she began tearing up, too. With a nod and a smile to Mackenzie, she turned and made her way outside. She had spotted the modest chapel while exploring the Colony the day before and made her way toward it at a slow pace, allowing the two partners to stay close behind her and still ahve some privacy to themselves.

William was relieved to see Elijah waiting for him in the lobby of the Clinic, Nurse Sandy gripping the handles of his wheelchair. He was dressed in the khakis and black sweater Will had left for him and Will noted that even pissed off, injured, and in a wheelchair the Brit still managed to pull the look off remarkably well.

"About time," Davenport remarked as his partner entered.

"Uh-huh. Figured you needed some time to decompress after your sponge bath," Will shot back.

Eli's jaw clenched, hands gripping the armrests of the wheelchair tightly. Sandy looked down at him with a bemused glance before turning the same look on Will as Elijah spoke up, "For the sake of our continued friendship, I recommend we never speak of that 'incident' again." He paused, as if remembering something, a look of resignation crossing his features. "...You already told the girls, didn't you?"

Will's victorious grin told him all he needed to know as the man stepped forward, quietly thanking Sandy before taking the handles of the chair. He wheeled Eli from the Clinic, who stared ahead blankly. "I loathe you, Hendrix," the younger man muttered.

"I know." His smile faded slowly as a thought crossed his mind. "You should know, there won't be many people there at first... and Ash is coming."

Eli nodded. "I understand. Don't worry, I haven't forgotten our 'agreement'." His voice was slightly unsteady as he added, "I'll give her space."

Once Vitae came into sight Chase had focused on it while Morgan asked him for tips on how to sway those in the colony. He felt very much like the last person she should ask for that but didn't say anything on it. "You have to remember that even though I lived among them, as one of them...I wasn't a human. No matter how it happened, there's a part of you they can't connect with. As a wolf I could make that connection with you and Emile, and everyone else in the pack." Chase knew he wasn't the best at explaining and gave an exasperated huff. "So," Chase's shoulders tensed slightly as he attempted to word it right last second. "Connect with them on their level. Like you said, en-mass will make things complicated because everybody is so different."

"The colonists won't fully know what to expect, the hunters will be extremely wary because they've all seen their fair share of monsters who deceive the innocent on a daily basis. Show them you aren't just a wolf, that you're human too. You feel pain, you know loss, emotions are universal." Chase glanced her direction and gripped the wheel tight as he shifted his position in the drivers seat, "I'm in no way saying you downplay that part that makes you, you. You're a werewolf, but you get them started on their level of humanity and you open them up to the other furrier half. Maybe try and make them understand there's no difference between the two halves. I mean you have a number of turned hunters in the pack so it shouldn't be too difficult for them to understand Vitae's hunters."

"If that all makes sense."
Chase felt like his mouth was dry after all of that, but still gave Morgan a small cheesy smile. Lucky enough for him they were just pulling up to the gates. The man peering out of the lowered window at the familiar older man with his hat standing guard over the entrance to Vitae. "Bart." He'd say in greeting, having no complete knowledge of how the interaction would go. Obviously the colony knew of Joe's death so Bart was possibly on the lookout for Chase's arrival, and it was always possible word had gotten out about what Chase was. Though he was counting against it, Chase knew it was possible even if very unlikely.

Mackenzie and Ashley-May followed along slightly behind Adelaide, hand in hand, neither of them knowing where the Church was. They knew there was one and Ash had certainly meant to attend it's services but between Alliance, New York then Pan and his Trial, and now the Nephilim, she honestly wasn't all that certain God was listening.

After a short distance Mac glanced to Ash, seeing her partner had calmed significantly she spoke quietly. "So, we were wondering if you'd want to say a few things about Joe." She watched Ash carefully, to make sure there were no growing over powering emotions. "We're not sure if Chase will decide to or not, but if not... .You don't have to, I'm sure the Priest or whatever will handle it, but we know you and Joe spent some time together." Mac shrugged slightly, trailing off.

Ash was surprised by the question, mostly because she thought Chase would do the eulogy but she nodded slowly. "I think I can do that." She said quietly, hoping she wouldn't break down in the middle of speaking; after all she cried over ice cream....twice.

"Chase," Bart said as he approached the vehicle he had not recognized, though he soon recalled that Hendrix had driven him out in his own vehicle a day or so earlier for mission. "Glad to see you could make it back. Very sorry for your loss; Joe was a kind man." He gave Chase an characteristic sympathetic smile before turning his sight to Morgan seated in the passenger seat. "Don't believe I've met you before, names Bart. You are?"

"Emily," Morgan said with a polite smile. "Chase's second cousin; I heard about Joe and wasn't far. Thought I'd come to pay my respects and give Chase some support."

Bart regarded her carefully before nodding. "Alright, well that's kind of you." He turned and signaled another guard to open the gates. "Let any of us know if you need anything Chase, Emily." He stated finally before backing away from the vehicle and letting them pass.

Adelaide directed her focus away from Mackenzie and Ashley-May, allowing them some semblance of a private conversation despite her gift as she led the way toward the chapel. She reached the small building, noting the two figures standing outside. One was dressed the in the garb of a minister and she could only assume the other was the funeral director. She approached them, exchanging pleasantries despite the fact that neither knew who she was. Standing just inside the doors, she waited for Ash and Mac to catch up.

Elijah gave Will a sideways glance as the man steered the truck toward the chapel, wanting to break the silence between them but not sure how. Anything was preferable to the morbid anticipation of a funeral service for a man who had helped save his life but he'd hardly gotten a chance to know, much less thank properly. Not to mention the fact that he wouldn't mind a distraction from the thought of having to face (or avoid, as the case may be) Ash very soon.

"Do you think you'll be able to talk Chase into staying?" Elijah said suddenly.

Will was silent for a moment and Eli wondered if he'd touched a nerve. Finally, the man shrugged. "I don't know. I... I sent him on a mission that could've gotten him killed. I promised I'd keep his father safe while he was gone. Now his father's dead and the Pack is there for him in the meantime. What would you do in his shoes?"

"No one could have predicted the way this would turn out, Will," Eli said quietly. "It's not your fault."

"Tell that to Joe," William muttered under his breath as they pulled up outside the chapel, shifting the truck into park before stepping out to unload the wheelchair on the passenger side and help Elijah carefully into it. Once the man was settled, they made their way inside the church.

Chase smiled and nodded back at Bart, allowing the man some time to speak with Morgan. Thankful they didn't have any hiccups with her needing to be tested or Bart saying anything. It went smoothly enough, "Thanks Bart, will do." Chase gave the man a small wave before driving forwards through the gates and into Vitae, eyes wandering along the people and buildings they passed by. A small glance towards Morgan to see the girl taking the sights in.

Once they entered the parking area Chase spotted the Toyota his father owned nearly in the same spot, Will having clearly trying to park it close so that Joe wouldn't have trouble finding it if need be. After parking and turning the car off Chase turned to look over at his passenger. "Okay Emily. You ready?" Chase said, poking fun at the false name she'd chosen for no reason in particular other than it was the one she'd decided on. Arguably he was the one that needed to be asked this considering he was slowly building into a ball of nerves, but Chase wasn't one for proper courses of conversation anyways. Luckily they weren't late, it would be starting soon. Though Chase had admittedly hoped to be at least a little late, to skip the awkward starting process that he wasn't looking forward to.

The two women followed Adelaide's lead, approaching the church and exchanging pleasantries with the two who waited outside, Mac less so than Ash. Stepping inside the small building it was easy to see why not all had been asked to attend the funeral portion of the evening proceedings. It was small and already starting to fill, Mac immediately getting the sensation of being cramped, but with a gentle squeeze from Ash she followed the blonde down the aisle between the row of pews. The first section was marked off "for family" so Ash directed Mac and Addy to sit directly behind where Chase would inevitably sit; Ash's only purpose to want to see Chase herself. Will, Addy and Mac had already seen the man since he had been told, but she hadn't.

Even in their limited interaction she still felt Chase was her friend, and she owed him an very serious apology. Ash took up the seat on the end of the aisle so she could exit freely.

Morgan exhaled a breath she hadn't realized she had been holding once they passed the gates. Eyes wide as she attempted to take in everything at once, she could already see groups of people headed down the road and she nodded to Chase as he questioned if she were ready. She freed herself from the seat belt and stepped out of the car, hands nervously smoothing her skirts as she watched the hunter colony's citizen gather and speak and head towards, what she assumed, was the funeral. She turned to glance at Chase. "It's bigger than I thought." She admitted, the scents alone within the colony nearly overwhelming.

She was used to relative isolation: woods, earth, animals and the rest of the pack but here, here the world was filled with noise of electronics, people and technology. Scents from not only the people and where they had been, but what they had done. Clearly there was wood burning, she could smell the soot and ash in the air, as well as the chemical nearly astringent scent of soaps humans used. She could feel the growing anxiety within and fought to quell it and keep an air of confidence. "Alright, let's do this."

Adelaide took up the seat Ashley-May had gestured to, smoothing her dress somewhat anxiously. She had never been particularly fond of funerals, despite her upbringing acclimatizing her to the idea of deaths and ritualistic tradition... somehow the concept of a funeral still managed to make her uncomfortable. More so because she hadn't met the deceased and the man's son only once. Still, she knew she likely wasn't the only one who was nervous. Addy reached over to take Ash's hand in her own, giving it a comforting squeeze.

William wheeled Elijah steadily into the chapel, entering the main room to see Addy, Mac, and Ash already seated. He quickly weighed his options, noting that Ash was toward the center of the aisle. Will elected to sit across the aisle on the far end of the pews, with Elijah tucked between the outside of the seats and the wall beside him. Somewhat out of sight, though likely not out of mind for Ashley-May.

Elijah seemed to understand the positioning but kept his mouth quiet, lips pursed. His eyes roamed the interior of the church, the various figures milling around, trying to keep his eyes anywhere except on Ashley-May.

Chase watched the woman take in the sights and smells with a soft smile as they stepped out of the vehicle. It was a bit refreshing to see her reactions considering what was coming. "Your home is that different?" He couldn't help but find himself asking as they moved away from the vehicle. Chase was actively not saying the name Borseti, wanting nobody to overhear. He knew the people and many of the smells were probably different but as far as the buildings and layout he didn't know what to imagine considering how in awe she seemed.

The church wasn't far, Chase had a decent memory as far as the layout of Vitae despite having not been here for very long. They walked along the sidewalk until arriving, Chase's hands deep in his pockets. He kept his eyes on the small chapel, making sure to keep both his sight and thoughts away from the cemetery. Chase knew all to well that if he saw his fathers casket out there then he'd skip the whole procession and go towards it. But not only did he not want to have any regrets about today, but he didn't want to do that to Joe even if it wasn't a big deal. No, if Chase was doing this then he was seeing it all the way through.

Once at the chapel he had quick and painless hello's to the minister and funeral director, he'd been asked how he'd known Joe and skirted around the answer so that he could slip away without the conversation lasting longer than he'd wanted. And so he did, now standing just inside the entryway looking into the small building with people both milling about in conversation or seated. Chase took a shuddered breath of preparation, catching a few familiar scents of those he'd suspected to be attending. With this now before him Chase was more aware of himself, hands nervously slipping down the opposite arms to make sure his sleeves covered his arms enough.

"We'll be at the front, it's usually reserved for family. You okay with that?" He told the girl next to him as he turned his head to look at her. Just because she'd never met Joe didn't make her feel any less family in his opinion, and that's what the pack was supposed to be, a family. But the last thing he wanted to do was make her uncomfortable, so he was giving her an opening to sit elsewhere if she wanted before he made his way to the front.

Ashley-May gave Addy a tight smile when she felt the other woman take her hand, returning the squeeze. She needed the distraction, she was far too aware of Elijah’s arrival and proximity. She knew she had not been asked to keep her distance from him, that really only the reverse was in effect for the time being and for good measures. She knew herself well enough to know that if she were to speak to him it would end badly.

It had only been hours before when the man had torn her heart out, made her believe she –and her child, meant something to him. Made her believe that she may have a future with him, or anyone else for that matter then called it off. She glanced briefly to Mac on the other side of Addy, the small hunter looked more than uncomfortable and Ash had little doubt she had attended many burials in her lifetime, but far and few funerals.

Morgan didn’t have the time to explain the differences between Borseti and Vitae, but she knew Chase would learn the difference. They were soon at the chapel and smile introduced herself as Chase’s friend when he bypassed the minister and director; not wanting to identify herself as family to them if he hadn’t. He paused on the inside and she could see why, the place was filling up, lots milling around. He noted that family would sit at the front, clearly leaving her the opportunity to find a place elsewhere but she smiled, slid her hand into his and nodded down the aisle. “I’m good.”

In all honestly Morgan was terrified, this was beyond what she had expected to see when coming to the colony. She knew Emile had been within the gates, months ago, when he had come to speak to the Council about releasing the man and his family as they wanted. She had never stepped foot within a town larger than a hundred humans; and that was a rural farming community. The most people around in the whole town (one road that held a grocer, bank and restaurant) at a time would be twenty and now more than that was within the chapel now.

She lead Chase, toward the front that held an empty pew, knowing from his own words that that would be where he would be expected to sit for the proceedings. They nearly made it to the open pew when she saw a blonde woman directly behind it make eye contact with first her then Chase.

“Chase!” Ashley-May called as she stood; glancing briefly to the young woman he had with her. “I’m glad you could make it.” She stepped toward him, wrapping her arms around his shoulders and hugging him tightly, “I’m so sorry for what happened.” She said quietly during their embrace. She leaned back but kept a hand on his upper arm, giving it a gentle squeeze, she gave him a sad smile. “If there is anything I can do….” She trailed off and frowned. “We’ll talk more later, alright? Afterwards?”

Adelaide turned to see Ashley-May stand up, embracing Chase. She offered the man and the young woman who had entered with him a smile -- she had only met the man once this morning after all, and it hadn't been under the best of circumstances.

William watched the exchange with a mixture of anxiety and curiosity. Though he wasn't looking forward to he and Chase's conversation, he was surprised that the man had brought someone with him. He didn't know of any connections outside Vitae in the surrounding area that he or Joe had... except for the Pack. As if reading his thoughts, Elijah leaned in. "What do you make of his friend?"

Will shrugged noncommittally, whispering back. "I don't know. You think she's with the Pack? Maybe his new girlfriend?"

Elijah paused, turning to look at his partner with a bemused glance. "I seriously doubt that."

"Why?" Will asked, frowning.

"She's not exactly his 'type'," Elijah said. Seeing the words fail to register with him, he sighed. "Namely the fact that she is a she."

Understanding dawned on Will's face as he nodded, rubbing the back of his neck.

Addy's own attention had also fallen on the stranger out of curiosity -- it seemed inappropriate somehow to go exploring the thoughts of the grieving man and his companion, but she found herself doing it all the same. She felt Chase's nervousness at being here, the sadness underlying it all. The young woman with him was also nervous, but for a different reason. She seemed overwhelmed by her surroundings and after a moment of idle digging, Adelaide discovered why. She, like, Chase, was a Werewolf. A new friend from the Pack, here to offer support or even keep him safe? The witch didn't see any point in drawing attention to the fact, even if the others didn't make the connection. There was no malice in either of them.

With the way Morgan was holding his hand tightly Chase got the feeling that as much as she was supporting him, he was supporting her as well without really knowing it. The man smiled back at her before they moved on down the aisle towards the front of the church. But before they could get seated Chase heard his name and was met with a flurry of blonde hair and being pulled into a hug. Between the sound of her voice, the color of her hair, and her scent. The smell he remembered catching of her pregnancy seemed to have changed or maybe intensified since their last meeting, it was hard to say. But he suspected it was just the typical pregnancy route.

"Hi Ashley." He spoke through the squeezing, the man reached up one arm around the woman to pat her back gently in the embrace until she pulled back to give her condolences. "Me too." He'd reply, simply shaking his head as she asked if there was anything she could do. "You just being here is enough, we both appreciate it I'm sure." The blonde quickly ended the conversation saying they'd speak more later and Chase nodded. Eyes wandering to the other two women in the pew Ashley was sitting in, both he recognized as Mackenzie and Adelaide. Though seeing the red-head in a dress was rather...shocking. "This is Emily," He spoke, releasing Morgan's hand and reaching his own up to her upper back, "She's family." It was difficult to say whether or not Mackenzie would catch on or assume Morgan to be pack. Will had known Chase had been with the pack before coming here, so he'd clearly told her. They were both hunters and he knew it wouldn't be to difficult for them to connect the dots, he was just banking on the fact that they'd not be willing to say or do anything about it.

Chase held out a hand offering for Morgan to sit at the front pew before taking the seat on the end next to the aisle. He turned her direction, lifting his left knee up and onto the pew between the two of them and left elbow propped on the back end of the seat so he could turn and speak with the women behind them. "So why are the boys hiding on the opposite end?" Chase asked, head nodding backwards. Having already spotted and smelled them over in that direction he didn't need to turn completely around to look just for mentioning them. "And I don't even recognize most of these people..." He mumbled lowly, though to be fair he hadn't fully expected to.
