Despite Sora and Layton's kindness and positivity, Porky is still doomed to evil. That doesn't mean he can't have little moments such as finding a prime opportunity to backstab them, but in that moment his conscience gets him and he holds back. For now.

Oh, the bullying I can imagine poor Luke going through with Porky if the boy's accompanying the Professor! Luke tries so hard to be the bigger man because a gentleman doesn't make a scene, but he soon throws hands because he's still young and impulsive!
Hehe 😉 Pokey deserves it to he honest.

I can definitely see Porky bullying Luke the moment he knows the Professor isn't around or watching!

He sees Layton isn’t around but Byleth is and he thinks he can get away with it cuz Byleth isn’t all about being nice, but little did he realize he also wouldn’t be merciful when he sees bullying

Luke and Sora meeting would be adorable! He'd be in awe of Sora's powers! Luke has the ability to understand and talk to animals. Maybe he can understand Pokemon too!

I don’t think Pokey would be intimidated nor care. This is the same kid who freed Giygas from the confines of his own mind.. at the expense of Giygas’s losing his sanity. Mother 3 happens

I wonder when and how Sora will figure out Pokey is evil.

(Goddamn auto correct grr)

I mean Byleth doesn't need intimidation. Actions themselves are more powerful in his eyes. He'll probably try the more standard solutions, but when they don't work he's less likely to be very kinda about things lol
I mean he legit kills one of his former students as she says "I wish I could have walked this path with you" and does so in a rather brutal manner too, bringing his sword right down into her head
So yeah, obviously he's not gonna go this far, but he is no stranger to being a bit more harsh about how he handles things if he has to.

Holy shit… that spoiler. But yeah I’m all for Byleth using harsh methods on Pokey it’s in character for him. Feel free to do what you think is IC for Byleth. Pokey deserves it.

Yeah... lmao... Byleth is very much "no bullshit, you will own up to decisions you've made and if they cross with mine, I will not hesitate" kind of person. Mercenary life hardened him a lot. Like I said, he probably doesn't go to the extremes of that spoiler (especially since ya know war was a play in forcing his hand on that), but ya know Byleth definitely would not let him off easy if he did not heed his words

Meanwhile, Layton only fights for defense, not to harm or kill, though I think if he was pushed to it and has no other option (ex. Luke is in mortal danger) he probably could. It'd be the very last resort for him though.

Layton suddenly finds himself staring down Samus's arm cannon and does his polite little hat bob. "Oh! Please excuse me, it wasn't my intention to startle you, my lady."

Luke flips out. "Professah, you mean this giant robot is a lady??"

"A true gentleman can always tell when he is in the presence of a lady, my boy!"

Samus would be oddly flattered by this distinguished gentleman.

Byleth shows mercy when he feels its right and won't have consequences that will hinder him and his allies. He doesn't necessarily enjoy violence or any of that, but that is part of his job so he has to accept it. Obviously war doesn't allow him to show much mercy, especially with those that raise arms against him so he's shaped by a lot of that

I love the idea of the SSB being concerned for Layton and Luke's safety, as they have none of the powers or tech the members of the SSB have. Then shit hits the fan and Layton lets out his inner Anime Swordsman!

I'm still disappointed that he never made it into Smash, not even as a sticker or spirit!

The good professor tends to have that affect lol

Byleth, bro, there are nicer ways of saying no!

Seriously though, poor guy! He needs a hug, a fishing trip, and some high-quality tea!

If there’s one man I know Byleth and Layton would hate it’s..

It’s Sakazuki for his extreme belief in absolute justice which is just another word for tainted justice. He literally melted a marine because he was deserting. And among other things.

I honestly don't blame Akainu for doing that. That marine was being selfish. Litterally, every other marine was out there fighting against criminals and threats to peace, yet dude wants to turn tail and run back to his family, like all his other comrades didn't have families of their own and still chose to join the marines and fight against pirates. Akainu basically got rid of a coward who insulted his very rank of as a marine and it was the one moment I legit applauded for Akainu.

To be fair, there's a time and place for every kind of justice. Even Lucchi's Dark Justice, as crazy as that fucker is.

Only way he could have said no was picking a different route in the game lmao

More seriously though, sadly Byleth understands saying no in that situation leads to war continuing and more people dying because he was unable to end it then and there, so he does what he knows he has to

He will gladly accept all those things lol

Byleth is still a better man than some game/anime characters I know.
Byleth definitely is a good man, just knows when he cannot afford to show mercy because at the end of the day, he is leading an army in war and he has to think of saving the most lives possible

But also in contrast to that other cutscene lemme offer the ending of another one which shows him a little differently

Byleth's situation is definitely very different from Layton's! Layton possibly having to strike a killing blow because he has absolutely no choice would be an interesting scenario. I really like the thought of Byleth and Layton becoming very good friends.

And the thought of Layton being the one to flatter Samus really tickles me! He makes an incredible achievement and he's blissfully unaware of it. Even if he was, he is way too modest to put much focus on it.

Layton getting into a swordfight with Lunaris, or one of the other Big Bads, would be pretty cool especially if he gets the upper hand for a bit despite having no powers of his own.
