Considering we have a general pantheon already built out, I wonder if the Lightbringer would be a "false god" in some sense? There could be some ulterior motive behind it. Otherwise, with how devoted they are to this Lightbringer, they could absolutely be real. Hell, they might even be a god from another existence who managed to find their way into this setting. That would give a direct conflict for the Arcana to address if some being from another world shows up and starts claiming all the other gods are fake . The easier option though is to just change the name to one of the gods in the current pantheon or vice versa. The theocratic empire of Ascensia is located west of Seam, controlling the entire west coast. Formerly many smaller kingdoms, they would be united by their mass adoption of the Lightbringer Fellowship, a religious sect who would prey on those in trouble, offering them the help of the Lightbringer, said to be the last god to still walk the World. In an effort to solidify their power, they would unite into Ascensia. The Church of the Fellowship would then select a devout noble as the first emperor. This lineage would remain unbroken to modern day, that bloodline said to have been touched by the Lightbringer. Most of Ascensia’s interactions with other nations is to have them convert to their religion. They don’t bother trading with anyone as the empire is pretty self sufficient as the former kingdoms that make it up had a whole variety of resources.
Perhaps the Lightbringer was manufactured some time in the distant past, and many followers in the present day don't know that? Might be a secret that the heads of the clergy strictly guard. On another note, I wanted to address some lore about Ascensia.

Yeah,we'll probably develop the scope as things play out but it looks like the first "session" will involve escaping from the kidnapping/festival and maybe figuring out who's involvedOkay, I backread and I've got the gist of the setting. I have a few ideas to contribute, but they're mostly greater-scope stuff having to do with the nature of the world than the particular corner most of the action will be happening in.
As far as characters go, I did have a concept I've been sitting on, but I'm gonna have to tweak it since it involved some tech fantasy stuff and wasn't exactly made for this paeticular setting.
I don't have permission to access the lore thread.Lore thread is up! Sorry about the wait. Let me know if there's anything there that shouldn't be or if you want to add anything. Additionally, I added the playtest classes to the google drive as I approvedSP3CT3R request, so feel free to have a look over the Floralist, Gourmet, and Invoker. Feels only fair if everyone has access to it.
At this point (assuming everyone is fine with the lore thus far) we should work on characters and backstories if you haven't already. That way we can get more some villains written up, and determine character relationships.
Sounds like a good plan. We have a Tinkerer/Entropist and a Guardian/Elementalist among our initial specializations (I'm getting choice paralysis trying to decide what other class(es) to use in conjunction with Floralist, so I might just go Weaponmaster. Bonus to landing attacks hasn't hurt anybody. (Not including the people being attacked)
Anyways, I was thinking my character was part of some sort of nomadic tribe that worships the magic crystals directly but split off after they got dogmatic and cultish. He's currently trying to track them down again after hearing they're planning a terrorist attack in order to stop them (which could be incorporated into the opening act).
