Dice Press Start! OOC [Fabula Ultima]

So with that said the crystal is a infinite energy conduit. What if hypothetically it's not taken but it goes out like a light bulb? Are we to assume that would be because we angered something otherworldly do you think?

I think that most people wouldn't come to that conclusion, but if they knew about it they'd get worried because it means that other magitech sources might start winking out. And they might be right.

That's fair. We did say that the religious were the ones that thought the crystals divine. (That may have not really been confirmed because of the God thing.) I suppose normal people like you and I would go on about their day if that were the case.

ERode ERode Zufaix Zufaix Lost Martian Lost Martian with that said,I don't want to hurry things too much along, but anyone feel like drafting a couple of Arcana/minor gods that appear in this world?

I don't think we need to elaborate on them mechanically until/if someone takes Arcanist levels, but it can't hurt to give a few of them a common name/title and domain, since they play a part in our world and may influence our character backstories.

In summary:

Map: We have a conceptual map.

We just have to end up drawing it.

Mountainous climate.

Shape: We can assume the world is round unless you guys really want to make it unique in some way.

Magic/Tech: The magic/tech of the universe is set we just need small details.

Kingdoms/Nations: We can say it's strained alliances according to what we've been discussing.

Hystory: We brought about a Industrial Revolution because of clean energy and resources.

God exists and has something to do with crystals?

Legends: We have some of the best dyes and cloths in our surrounding area.

We're well dressed. We can say that the populace is well off. We can also assume well dressed entails warmly.

If you guys want to talk about cryptids and/or monsters next. I am down.

Threats: Propositional concept that earthquakes, landslides, and avalanches happen frequently because land mass upheaval may lead to various natural disasters.

Our climate is colder because of a higher altitude?

Probably have to deal with the occasional pack/wild animal that hunts and is carnivorous.

Seem right?

Well,I wouldn't say "we" just yet.

Not the whole party may be Seamite/Verdurean.

In terms of more personal conflict now, maybe there was a big celebration like the current king's coronation anniversary/birthday or a celebration of the previous king's accomplishment.

And on that day the current king wanted to present his kids to the world, but some of them are scheming/one of them is about to get kidnapped.

There are visitors from all over the continent, many with their own agendas, and we happen to be nearby as the kidnapping scheme kicks off.

Um... If the king is to be assassinated which I think was implied earlier. The kids should probably be of ruling age. That way the Church can use them as a figure head. Unless we're absolutely going for bloody conflict.

We can intercept the prince/princess as like a starting altercation from a few Prospectors. Get blamed, get tagged as outlaws. Even if we're heroes, we're the villains in the publics eye.

The D.M. uses them as a N.P.C. to move the story along for a while.

Maybe the Prince/Princess gets word of their father's death and wants to go back at some point?

These are just suggestions.

I don't mind crafting something up.

I posted some map outlines in the google drive for us to use, so the only thing we would need to do is pick one and draw the borders.

Additionally, I think it might be a good idea like Nellancholy Nellancholy mentioned, to have each person in charge of a nation/area in order to divide up the work. Plus having someone be an expert on the lore of each area makes it easier to use Fabula Points creatively later on. Obviously everyone can share ideas for the nations at large, but giving one person the final say might make things a bit quicker.

Alright I finally finished reading the core book, except the game master and bestiary section, and the player character section of the High Fantasy book. The loose idea I have in mind is a clockwork engineer who doesn’t put much stock in magic, even though he is slowly developing magic of his own. Probably would go Tinkerer/Sharpshooter/Entropist as far as classes go.

As far as minor gods/arcana, I can start doing some brainstorming them. But before I do that, I just want to know how crazy we can go with them. If it’s anything like the mythologies of Earth, things can get quite strange.

Good to have you on board.

Our GM will suggest the kind of input you can offer about the arcana, but in the meantime,do you have any ideas about the other aspects of the world and its nations?

With that said, now that we know the planned classes of every party member,I have a clearer idea of how I'm going to build my character, mechanically speaking

I made some stuff already. Mostly I just used a scrapped plan for some improvised religious lore I was gonna use for Aeolian. I don't think that's gonna come to fruition however.

Macon The Orb Weaver: The limbless one. The creator, the trickster, and the death.

Macon is known by many names. The Orb Weaver, the limbless spider, and the one who made many. A benevolent being who created the known realms and all living things.

Often depicted as a large limbless jumping spider in art. Why does he have no legs? Because the origin story of the God had him tearing his own limbs off to create the progenitor spirits. Which in turn made the crystals.

Macon's Origin: In the beginning, Macon weaved intricate designs through woven tapestry. However, as artists often do he became frustrated with his own makings. There was nothing, no one around to appreciate his creations the same way he did. So he took his first limb and severed it and from it's ichor he formed his long term companion.

An Owl, and he gave her a name. Nuit, was to be his antithesis. Everything either of them were, the other was to be a polar opposite.

He wished for a debate about the infinite creation. He needed a perspective not his own. So she gave it to him. She gave him her opinion.

She wasn't the perfect antithesis he had hoped for. While they had many disagreements on subjects. She had her own mind. She could form her own opinions and through beauty often did they find common ground.

He came to the conclusion because of her counsel. This was not what he wanted. What he needed was to watch things decay to understand the ugliness of creation.

He touched his creation again instead of just sitting to the side and pondering it. He came to look at it wither. He decided that everything should thrive for a time and then cease eventually.

Because of this he came up with the idea of opposing forces. Not just opposing opinions. Off came four more limbs.

Soon more of his children were formed and by proxy of them. He formed the stars, Poivre the flame, Sel the earth, Sucre the wind, and lastly Pimenter the water came to form the lands, the air, and the waters.

Poivre took the form of the first canid and from his maw. He gave the molten core shape. He gave many shape and form. He connected roads of constellations, illuminated the heavens both day and night, and soon his job was done. So he took a nap for a fourth of the calender.

The next to perform a task was Sel, the first turtle. He took what his brother already provided and made the land. The ground, the trees, and all plants. The next thing was to make the land creatures which he made

in his own likeness. Quadropedal and able to roam at their leisure. He then took a nap for a fourth of the calander.

The Sisters of the four siblings were to reside over the waters, air, and all that would live in them. After they finish they too would take a nap for a fourth and a fourth of the calender.

The seasons would cycle the machinations of their father. Spring (turtle season), Summer (wolf season), Autumn (moth season), and Winter (fish season), and the four would serve to sleep inside the great crystal chasm until it was their turn to take up the season. During their respective season they would be free to roam the world and perceive how creation had changed during their slumber whether it be for better or worse.

Macon, Wheel Arcanum. Nuit, Gate Arcanum. Poivre, Forge Arcanum. Sel, Oak Arcanum. Sucre, Sky Arcanum. Pimenter, Frost Arcanum.

If you guys decide you wanna go through with using these. I'll let you make the last few and fit them to an Arcanum that corresponds. Just keep to the theme of the spider shedding it's limbs for the sake of it's creation. It was meant to be a allegory for the suffering of one's own art.

In any event,I think I've already settled on an initial background for my PC already, which can also be used to introduce a mystery, artifact, and a threat each.

But I'll wait for confirmation about the arcana and the other nations to be fleshed out first.
