With that said,I think there's nothing wrong with overlapping classes, since there's a lot of variation within regarding which skills and spells we take

Sorry for the radio silence over the past few days everyone! I'm still here, promise. Being trapped in by snow is NOT fun 😭 I'll take a look over everything in just a bit and give my thoughts.

Everything looks great guys! I love the lore you came up with Lost Martian Lost Martian . Seems like everyone is in agreement about it as well, so for now we'll use this as the baseline for our world.

That being said, ERode ERode please respond to the thread if you're still interested in this! Otherwise I'll have to add someone from the interest thread to fill your spot.

In the mean time, feel free to post anything about your character sheets or any extra lore you might come up with in the interim. I should have a lore thread up either today or tomorrow with everything we've come up with so far.

Just picked up a job, so think I may have to bow outta this yeah. Good luck with the game though!

On another note, I wanted to address some lore about Ascensia.
The theocratic empire of Ascensia is located west of Seam, controlling the entire west coast. Formerly many smaller kingdoms, they would be united by their mass adoption of the Lightbringer Fellowship, a religious sect who would prey on those in trouble, offering them the help of the Lightbringer, said to be the last god to still walk the World. In an effort to solidify their power, they would unite into Ascensia. The Church of the Fellowship would then select a devout noble as the first emperor. This lineage would remain unbroken to modern day, that bloodline said to have been touched by the Lightbringer. Most of Ascensia’s interactions with other nations is to have them convert to their religion. They don’t bother trading with anyone as the empire is pretty self sufficient as the former kingdoms that make it up had a whole variety of resources.
Considering we have a general pantheon already built out, I wonder if the Lightbringer would be a "false god" in some sense? There could be some ulterior motive behind it. Otherwise, with how devoted they are to this Lightbringer, they could absolutely be real. Hell, they might even be a god from another existence who managed to find their way into this setting. That would give a direct conflict for the Arcana to address if some being from another world shows up and starts claiming all the other gods are fake . The easier option though is to just change the name to one of the gods in the current pantheon or vice versa.

Perhaps the Lightbringer was manufactured some time in the distant past, and many followers in the present day don't know that? Might be a secret that the heads of the clergy strictly guard.

But I can go with the other ideas too. The power it supposedly grants its followers may be closer to spiritism or chimerism than arcanism.

I like the idea that they never or no longer exist(ed) and the Fellowship uses that blind faith to secure political power, but I don't wanna dig too far into until getting Lost Martian Lost Martian opinion.

Okay, I backread and I've got the gist of the setting. I have a few ideas to contribute, but they're mostly greater-scope stuff having to do with the nature of the world than the particular corner most of the action will be happening in.

As far as characters go, I did have a concept I've been sitting on, but I'm gonna have to tweak it since it involved some tech fantasy stuff and wasn't exactly made for this paeticular setting.

Yeah,we'll probably develop the scope as things play out but it looks like the first "session" will involve escaping from the kidnapping/festival and maybe figuring out who's involved

Zufaix Zufaix
So I intended the Lightbringer to be iffy in status, whether or not he is an actual god. A lot of JRPGs do the false god thing so I think it could fit in this roleplay. Perhaps the Lightbringer is a just a very powerful wizard who created a cult around him that blossomed into a full on religion. Of course the wizard is probably dead by now, but perhaps Ascensia keeps his idea alive to maintain power over all the followers of the Lightbringer across the continent. What do you guys think?

Zufaix Zufaix Would you be cool with me using the playtest floralist reflavored with magic crystals instead of plants? Idea just popped into my head and I thought it would fit the setting really well.

Lore thread is up! Sorry about the wait. Let me know if there's anything there that shouldn't be or if you want to add anything. Additionally, I added the playtest classes to the google drive as I approved SP3CT3R SP3CT3R request, so feel free to have a look over the Floralist, Gourmet, and Invoker. Feels only fair if everyone has access to it.

At this point (assuming everyone is fine with the lore thus far) we should work on characters and backstories if you haven't already. That way we can get more some villains written up, and determine character relationships.

I don't have permission to access the lore thread.

I'm getting choice paralysis trying to decide what other class(es) to use in conjunction with Floralist, so I might just go Weaponmaster. Bonus to landing attacks hasn't hurt anybody. (Not including the people being attacked)

Anyways, I was thinking my character was part of some sort of nomadic tribe that worships the magic crystals directly but split off after they got dogmatic and cultish. He's currently trying to track them down again after hearing they're planning a terrorist attack in order to stop them (which could be incorporated into the opening act).

Sounds like a good plan. We have a Tinkerer/Entropist and a Guardian/Elementalist among our initial specializations ( Lost Martian Lost Martian and W War123 please clarify if I'm wrong),so another strong attacker can't hurt.

I gotta say, those magiseeds are mostly balanced around the fact that you can only have one active at a time, but those "every enemy you can see suffers [status]" ones are really strong

They are, but there are other things comparable to it in the core rulebook, like Spiritists Torpor spell. It slows 3 targets for 5 less mana, and while technically less targets, it's not very often that you'll be facing hoards of enemies on my experience. The system is balanced around equal actions on both sides, meaning you guys likely won't be facing more than 5 enemies at any given time, and often it'll be closer to 2 or 3 elites.

Either way, we'll play it by ear for now. I don't think it'll cause issues, but we can bring it up to everyone if it does.
