So out of the starting scenarios mentioned I think we should go with the first one. Being assembled by the King would be a good way to unite the party initially. Perhaps when he does get assassinated we might be blamed for it, the start of the roleplay being us trying to clear our names and figure out who actually did it. But I’m cool with the other options as well, I’m just leaning more towards the first idea.

There's only two issues that I can see, which is that you'll have to choose a different armor, as you can't equip martial armors with your class choices.
Also it doesn't seem like you've added your initial savings that your character starts with outside of the 500 zenith budget for starting equipment. (Roll 2d6 ×10 and that's your savings)

Also, I just want to clarify, you put dual sabers as your weapon but are only equipping one katana right? It might fit better if you just equipped 2 rapiers and flavored them as such (the rules for two-weapon fighting are on pg. 69). Accounting for different armor, you could get 2 rapiers for 400 zenit followed by a travel garb/silk shirt depending on which defense spread you want for the last 100 zenit.

Done and done. I somehow never noticed the rules for dual wielding. Changed them to one normal katana.

Also, I'm currently working on the starting post (since everyone seems to agree on the first option), but would like to ask Nellancholy about some more info on Seam (or Verdure since I apparently skipped over that tidbit from earlier in the thread). Since the basic concept was your idea, what sort of architecture would Seam/Verdure have? I'm imagining general fantasy European as a starting point, but am open to other ideas? I know I said there could be a party happening in the palace, but would they actually have one, or is it more likely to take place somewhere else? Obviously something as a big as a Selection Rite would warrant a general celebration throughout the city, but having a set location for conflict to happen feels appropriate

Let's stick with Seam as the kingdom's name,going forward.

I don't have any strong opinion about the specifics of Seam's architecture,but "fantasy European" works. There's probably a stronger emphasis on things like flags,banners,drapes,carpets and so on forming part of their decor due to their textile and dyeing traditions but less emphasis on metal/gemwork in decor,attire,and architecture. Not that it's absent,but they import most of such raw materials while having a small population of domestic metalworkers and jewelers. An ostentatiously wealthy person's house and clothing is more likely to be distinguished by fine silk and fur than gilding or statuary.

There's a palace of stone, yes, but if you ask for my input I think the Selection Rite would happen in a large courtyard/square within the walls or just outside them, in the comparatively upscale part of the capital rather than in an enclosed hall.

While I don't expect the gameplay to strictly reflect this, there's probably a slight skew in the local armed forces towards mages, though there's not necessarily a shortage of men at arms. But if someone has a full suit of armor versus a few pieces, they're clearly important and influential enough to warrant it.

Okay that works! I'll write out a courtyard scene so you guys have some time to interact with each other before things hit the fan. Since Seam is the actual kingdoms name, we could still use Verdure as the name of the capital where this is all taking place if you wanted. It also might not be a bad idea to get more detailed descriptions of major cities and towns of other regions to work from into the lore thread, if any one is interested in drafting something up? Of course I'm more than willing too if no one wants to.

So I’m currently working on a D&D campaign and the way I was going to handle dice rolls is to make a separate thread for just dice rolls, linking to it as Other. But that’s just me. I don’t have much experience on here with dice based roleplays, so if there is a better way, please let me know.
