Realistic or Modern Suncrest Complex

It was good not to be at work, Flor didn't think she could stomach another question about how their client isn't getting the credits they should be and how this is the worse software in the world. It's been a bad tax season and Flor could feel the stomach ulcers forming inside her. She was at the nearby park walking her cat, which was usually an odd sight to see but Puppets loved the outdoors and he needed his fresh air. Puppets is a chubby gray tabby cat, and he was currently chasing a poor butterfly in the tall grass. While this was a dog park, Puppets didn't mind other animals, in fact he loved playing with everyone, just as long as he's the center of attention. Flor pulled her thick curly hair into a bun, the hair tie barely going over her hair without breaking. I need a hair cut.

Flor clicked her tongue when she saw Puppets was getting too far away and he meowed back as if annoyed at being interrupted. She rolled her eyes "Come on don't start, stay where mommy can see you" She was glad there weren't many people around. It's a bit embarrassing to get caught baby talking her cat. Usually, people were at work at this time. Though what if she saw one of her co-workers around on they're lunch? What if they talk about it to her manager? What if she gets fired for just taking a day off?

She felt the familiar stirrings of anxiety within her chest when she felt soft fur push up against her hand, demanding attention. She smiled down at her little fat baby and rubbed his belly.

Joseph Valentino

Joseph rolled his eyes and let out a sharp exhale. The last thing I want happening is some inexperienced girl or guy trying to put an impression on me. He barely noticed Ian when he had followed Ellie outside. The warmth of the day forced a very blissful smile on his face. He allowed her to rush ahead- she had probably been itching to leave since she left her shift. Val lagged behind to admire the weather, which was another thing Eli continuously reminded the younger to do. He gladly accepted this bit of advice.
When Joseph finally caught up to where Ellie put her stuff down, she had already been in the water. He shook his head, placing his things down and taking off his shoes. After shedding his green top, Val stretched to avoid cramps when he did decide to swim an actual stroke. When he finished, he felt eyes burning holes into his backside. It's not that he minded the attention- secretly, it fueled his ego- but some people were just awful at being discreet about it. Joseph ultimately ignored it and got into the water, the cold giving him goosebumps. In return, he felt a sudden rush to just move. Going a little father out, Val dipped under and swam, coming back up when he felt the tide pulling him back. When he resurfaced, he smiled in Ellie's direction. "Slow? At least I can make up for it! You never catch up to me!"

In the lecture hall there were only the sounds of hushed whispers and typing. The professor had reviewed old material even going as far back to the basics. He hinted at new units, but never went into full detail of what they were. Now Lewis and the rest of the students were left to study and organize the notes they took for an upcoming test. Unlike his probably more successful comrades, the blonde sat and stared blankly at his laptop screen. Even if he had taken an extensive amount of notes that would assist with his fairly average test scores, there was a lack of interest in looking at review notes for the remainder of class. Maybe he should write some more or even research some things for other classes. Yet a feeling held him back from doing any of that. He knew from many all nighters and failed assignments what exactly this feeling was. The dreadful state of mind, an enemy to many students passed junior high, the bane to most good exam scores known as procrastination. It was as if he had suddenly become extremely hypoactive. Usually when it came to studying, his mind would balance itself out by the promise of endless video games afterward. This time he wasn't as lucky. A part of Lewis pleaded for him to actually get some work done, but another contradicted with cries of laziness. Ultimately he was rendered useless.

The class had ended with the Canadian having accomplished little to nothing. As his peers filed out in an orderly and quite regular fashion, he practically leaped from his seat and out the door. He possessed speed faster than the normal walking pedestrian and yet slower than most healthy joggers. It was his determination to get home as soon as possible that let him access this side of himself. A side which was fueled by a loathe for the outside world. When he was inside he felt somewhat nicer. No sun to burn him, high speed WiFi, no unpleasant weather, and more. It wasn't like he hated being outside as a whole. He loved going outside after a rainstorm and dusk was his favorite time to go outside. There were some things he liked, but most of the time he referred the glow of his computer screen over the glow of the sun.

Lewis could see the roof of Suncrest as he neared the large building. Since he wasn't financed by his parents anymore, except for his college tuition, he didn't have a car. His job payed well, in fact it was above many students'. The matter was that he had terrible choices when it came to money. Loot boxes, card packs, subscriptions, there was just a lot of things he would rather spend his money on than a car. So instead of riding on a crowded bus, he walked. The journey isn't one that held many challenges. It was a very smooth path from campus to complex. The distance was what made it a bit of a grueling travel.

Finally, with a sigh, Lewis reached the doors of Suncrest. The lobby was quiet and the cafe was calming down too. After the lunch rush, cafe staff got a well deserved break.

It must be hard to have a job like that, Lewis thought as he slipped through to the elevators. By the looks of it, Ellie was most likely out surfing with her shift being done and all. So far the day was going pretty normally. Sure, there were trucks outside full of tacks, but who was he to snoop on other people's business. When he reached his floor, the first thing he noticed was that the pipes were gone. Was the girl done with her project? What even were the pipes for? Why were they attached by tacks? These were all questions that he should've asked earlier but didn't. Choosing to ignore the missing piping, he head into his apartment to hopefully do some research for his assignments.

Ellie watched as Val dove into the water as well. When he resurfaced in front of her and said, "Slow? At least I can make up for it! You never catch up to me!"

Tilting her head with a smirk on her face she splashed water at Val as she laughed, "I'll give you that, but you are still slow when it comes to being on land."

Ellie dove under as she began to swim off to the left of the beach, heading over to the Cliffs. Knowing too well that Val would surpass her, but she gave it all she could. The waves kept Ellie from swimming straight, but she was grateful for the small calm waves. This was definitely not surfing waves, so having a nice swim with Val was the perfect substitute. Once she got closer to the Cliffs, she flipped on her back as she allowed the waves to carry her a bit. Her chest was rising and falling as she gave her lungs a break. She wasn't a swimmer like Val, so she still has to learn how to control her breathing when swimming.

"Man... This hits the spot, after a long morning shift," Ellie sighed in complete bliss. Then she recalled the absence of Val when Eli was waiting for him. She straightened herself as she called out to Val, "Hey Val! Where were you this morning? Eli waited for you for at least four hours... we both thought you went swimming..."

Parking his exotic, million-dollar car with a slight smirk, Nicholas slammed the glossy black door shut and stepped out. He'd spent the last few hours penning lyrics with a bandmate, and he was pretty sure they'd figured out at least one new hit song.

Despite that, his headache was as bad as ever and not sleeping was starting to catch up on him, as much as he hated to admit it. Glitter still decorated his raven hair, something the teenage star found more than a little annoying.

Nick made his way towards the apartment lobby in silence, hoping to avoid recognition. So far, the day hadn't been horrible... and he wanted to keep it that way.

Val watched as she dove under again. Of course he did terrible on land, he considered himself practically a fish. At least, that what his teammates would call him. Ignoring that feeling of homesickness once again, he followed her, taking it a little easier so that he wouldn't get tired quickly. As they reached the Cliffs, the water became shallower, so he decided to stand. The waves lapped at his knees as he admired the natural rock formation. This place was absolutely beautiful- nothing in the city could ever compare to Suncrest. What was missing was his family.
Light eyes looked to Ellie, who looked like a deflated starfish. She reminded him of his own job, making him groan a bit as he sunk back into the water. He closed his eyes, feeling comfortable- at least around Eleanor. "I was sidetracked by a four eyed technology geek and an overly mischievous guy on the second floor. The girl was building some sort of.. Thing with pipes that extended outside of the apartment. I'm still wondering if that's permitted." He opened his eyes as he felt stray seaweed brush against his arm. "..I had to carry her bridal style to her room."

Stay calm, just breath

The park was beginning to fill with people, and as people began getting closer and louder she could feel her chest getting tighter. She took in a shaky breath before standing up, limping a bit because her feet had fallen asleep. She winced, feeling as though she were walking on pins and needles. She clicked her tongue "Puppets bring me your leash!" She called out to him. Puppets meowed at her but he obeyed and walked over enough so that she could grab her leash. They walked back towards the complex together.

She was focusing on her breath, her therapist always told her that she shouldn't panic if her chest began to feel tight. She walked into the lobby and promptly slammed into someone. She stumbled back looking up at the person she'd just slammed into.

"I'm so sorry!" She said grinding her teeth, trying not to listen to that little voice in the back of her head telling her how stupid she was. She looked at the person who'd she slam into, a boy, kinda gothy looking but for some reason very familiar looking. Well, dub he's familiar, he fucking lives in the same complex as you.

Sasha had finally gotten down to the very last bag of tacks. Her legs were shaky and tired from all the trips up and down the stairs. She never even thought to use the elevator, must've slipped her mind. She was very focused up until the last bag, signaling the near end of her task, where she could finally relax.

Sasha made her way into the lobby, headed towards the stairs when she caught sight of two people. Flor and Nicholas if she remembered correctly. She had seen their mishap and noticed the elevator nearby. She paused, taking a moment to feel defeated, she should have used the elevator. Might as well use it now. She waved as she approached to wait for the elevator to come down.

DING! The elevator doors opened and she stepped inside, wondering if the other two were coming too. She pressed the appropriate button and took a step back. Before the doors closed, she noticed a panel above the door. An idea came to her, there are valves in there she can use. She accidentally said her thoughts out loud, I don't think that would break the elevator. Her head was cocked in thought, unaware she said anything out loud as she continued to plot her next course of action.

"Are you saying that you carried Sasha to her apartment?" Ellie gave him a nudge, teasing him a bit, "What a gentleman..." Ellie couldn't help laugh as she tried to envision it, then changed the subject, "That's normal for Sasha... My Uncle gave her permission for her experiments. Well, within reason."

Ellie stayed under the water as she knelt at the shallow water. It was soothing to have the water surround her. She hasn't met Sasha personally but from what Val said only helped give her a very bias image of her. All she could imagine was a girl with large glasses and wearing geeky tees. Shrugging, Ellie went under the water for a moment and then resurfaced again as she looked at Val.

Ruffling the ears of Luke, Saren giggled happily. She had always carried a massive love for animals, and it seemed to be the only thing that could bring the woman to tears. "Well, he seems to listen. You've trained him well." She was also referring to earlier when Sam had ordered him to freeze. She could just imagine her trying to tell Zara that. The mini Aussie never seemed to run away, but she always did as she pleased regarding everything else. Perhaps Saren had spoiled her too much as a puppy? Her multi-colored fur was fluffed, and her electric blue eyes shined brightly underneath the sun. She whined and, as if her jealousy was sparking courage within her, scampered over to Sam and pawed at his shoes and legs. "Oh, Zara is jealous Luke is getting all the attention. It seems I should have trained her to have some proper manners." Saren laughed a little, a bit of an apologetic gaze in her eyes as she took one hand and tried to stop her from jumping up.

Bringing up suspicion, Saren thought for a moment. "It's fascinating how dogs can pick up on body language before most humans can." Standing up again, she asked Sam, "You mentioned sisters. Large family? Must be quite lively. I've always been an only child myself. After moving here, living alone can be pretty relaxing. But at times I can definitely say I miss the family dinners." She wasn't sure if she could quite imagine a large family. It had always just been her father and her in the days. Saren shook her head. "Ah, sorry if I'm getting too personal."

"I worked with my police dog to be trained, so I just passed down my knowledge down to Luke," Sam answered as he looked at his well-trained canine. The light whining of the smaller dog grabbed his attention as it began to paw at his feet. "Well hello there little lady," he laughed as he stroked his hand over the soft fur as he took in Saren's words and answered, "Well I know by the coat, that you take great care of her."

After petting the small Aussie, Sam got up as did Luke, "I have to agree, they seem to understand when they are needed and when they have to stand up for themselves. Something we should learn from them..." Sam gave Luke permission to go ahead and play as he answered Saren about his sisters, "Just the four of us, my Mom, sister and I... It is now. As much as I would like to have my own place, It's my job to make sure my girls are safe..." Sam paused for a moment and snapped out of his funk after hearing Saren apologize, "No, you're fine, really."

Before Lewis could retire to his computer for what would be another afternoon wasted, he decided to make a late lunch. Though, he might not be some Gourmet chef who actually learned how to cook, he could still make some pretty delicious things. Many recipes have failed, but some turned out alright. As long as he didn't miss any of the directions, he could make something nice to munch on. Today, he was up for some pasta with a creamy tomato sauce and a bit of garlic bread on the side. Setting down his college papers and textbooks, he moved from his setup to the kitchen.

The countertops were wiped down yesterday from a sudden paranoia of bacteria. This was after he found a video of what infected wounds looked like after a week. His spices and herbs were organized in alphabetical order just like his fridge. There was a large box of granola bars by the sink, those were for the hard morning classes and midnight snack times. If he wanted to cook a lunch, this was the perfect environment to do it in. There was only one problem, his fridge didn't have anything he needed for pasta. Lewis could always switch to a more available meal, like a sandwich. But it was one of those days where he just craved pasta. Releasing a groan, he grabbed his wallet and went out of his apartment. He should've gone grocery shopping long ago, but back then he could survive on simple sandwiches and granola bars. The delectability of a food didn't matter when compared to finishing an overdue comic. Begrudgingly he walked into an elevator again and went to the main floor

Hearing Sam mention police dog, Saren looked from Sam to Luke, and then back, her eyes widening slightly. "Ohhh wow. So it's actually officer Sam." She bit her lip in thought, and eagerly spoke, "Is it true that you have to be tasered before allowed to carry a taser on duty?" She had been watching a television show awhile back and remembered the initiation process. Dropping her prissy and proper demeanor, if she had her own tail she might be wagging it. Nonetheless, Zara wagged for her. Her eyes lit up like a childs. "You're so cool!! Fighting for justice and all. Like a hero." More seriously she added, "Being a police officer is dangerous you know. So make sure you be careful, for those girls of yours."

Saren always kept Zara pampered, and bought the highest quality food possible. She always thought about entering contests with her. But at the same time, didn't want to place much stress on the dog. Saren wouldn't object her. Having her as a companion was all she ever needed to be. She tried to imagine Zara as a police dog, but couldn't keep a straight face at the thought. Well, as long as she's on a leash she's a worthy opponent for others. She was thinking about the poor guy she had tangled up earlier, Ian was it?

Location: Grocery Store ~ Interacting With: ----

Potatoes...chicken...broccoli....kiwi....where is the kiwi?? Ian walked around the grocery store, crumpling the grocery list in vexation. He hated shopping. All types of shopping. Only, he hated his brother's wrath more. "Excuse me, but do you..." Ian started to ask a shop assistant, but the man walked right by him. ...Did I not speak loud enough? He sighed, continuing his journey through aisle nine. After about ten more minutes, his patience had run dry. He went to a customer instead. "Hey, do you happen to know where the kiwi are?" The customer thought for a few moments and pointed to the far right corner of the store. The vegetable section. Why on earth. Ian couldn't fathom why it would be there, but as most grocery stores were, they didn't always make sense where their merchandise was placed.

Finally finding the sign for kiwi, his heart fluttered with accomplishment, but was quickly shot down as he realized the shelf containing Kiwi was empty. Dammit....
Glancing over at a stand next to, he saw Avocado. Good enough. And so he plopped four or five of them into the basket. From where he grabbed the last one, upset the balance of Avocados and sent the mountain of green ovals tumbling to the ground.

Ian really hates grocery shopping.

"Only on duty," Sam answered as he laughed at the title, "But as for getting tased, I did, not a very pleasant experience but it only fair to the person you might use it on." Sam couldn't help smile at the excitement on Saren's face, "Being safe is my first priority, especially when my sisters need me. Don't see where I would need a song to be written for me, but I'll keep you to your word."

Sam watched Luke run around like a mad man, as he moved to stand beside Saren. "I remembered when I was a single child... but then the twins came and everything changed. They gave me hope and a reason. If you ever feel lonely, the Nightlock household has an open seat for you at the dinner table. Oh, and Zara as well." He gave a look at the Aussie as it yipped, knowing too well she was left out, then he turned to Luke as he began to roll on the grass, "Come on Luke! I just washed you, stop rebelling in front of the ladies!" Sam gave chase after Luke as the canine kept running away from him.

Embarrassed Flor picked up Puppets who'd decided now was a good time to roll on his belly and play with a piece of lint. She noticed that the elevator door was open and turned back towards the boy "I'm really sorry" And ran off to the elevator, almost slipping on the carpet.

She from tight like a spring. She pressed her face into her cat's belly who was now purring loudly, leaning against the elevator door walls as they closed. She glanced at the woman who was in the elevator with her. "Thank you," She said knowing that she'd held the elevator open for a moment. She noticed the woman looked a bit worn out, but Flor wouldn't be surprised if she looked similarly. At least she felt like a tired mess, Her bed was calling her. Though, if she wasted another evening, she knew she would never get out of that call center job. Again her chest felt only tighter.

One minute, Nicholas had been walking through the lobby in relative peace, the next he'd been shoved and nearly knocked over. Whirling around, he glared at the person who'd done such a thing, thinking up the perfect biting response to cut them down for having been so rude.

His expression softened a bit when he noticed how anxious she looked and head her apology.

"It's fine," he said quietly, fixing his striped scarf that had come loose.

Nick hurried into the elevator after her, barely managing to make it inside before the door closed. Feeling awkward with so much company, the teenage star pressed himself into one of the corners and stared listlessly at the floor, willing the ride to end quickly.

This shopping trip wasn't as bad as others, but it could've been better. First, Lewis had accidentally ran into a woman while he was rushing to get inside. That made for an awkward apology and an even worse farewell. He had been sprinting, because the need for pasta was overwhelming him. Secondly, the store had run out of good tomatoes. The ones left were either not ripe enough or too ripe. After those two debacles, he thought he was in the clear. There was nothing else that could possibly go wrong. Then, of course, his wallet had slipped from his jacket pocket in an aisle somewhere. After blazing through each section of the store as if his life depended on it, even going to the cosmetics aisle, he finally found it.

Bow tie or twirly pasta? Lewis now stood in front of two pasta choices, debating which to choose. He didn't know the actual names of the noodles, but he didn't care either. His hand wavered back and forth between the two. Almost grabbing one box then quickly switching for the other.

Twirly. Snatching one box and placing it in his basket, he quickly walked away. Now I just need the garlic. He made long drives to reach the vegetable section. Avoiding people left and right, he felt like a ninja. As was about to get the garlic that he needed, he stopped himself when he heard the sound of fresh produce tumbling down like an avalanche. He turned as they began to roll across the ground. In the midst of it all he spotted a man holding an avicado with absolute dread in his eyes. Lewis, as the kind fellow he is, rushed to help the troubled man, who he knew as Ian.

"So, I guess it's not just me who's having a hard shopping day."

Sasha had a brilliant mind, it worked in ways most couldn't even imagine. She can sort of super impose her mind's thoughts onto reality, allowing her to calculate things with great accuracy that you normally need special tools for, a simple example being a ruler or protractor. This often caused her to mix reality and her own thoughts, which brought forth her next outburst.

They're weird. Of course this was supposed to be an internal thought, and as usual, she had no idea she actually spoke that out loud. Her next sentence was intentional though, a reply to the girl who thanked her. Oh, no worries. Sasha offered a sympathetic smile, knowing things don't always go as you wish, recalling the events earlier in the day.

He must think that you were trying to close the elevator on his face, probably thinks you're a rude bitch. Flor was trying her best to disappear into her jacket already regretting going out that day. She almost opened her mouth to apology again when the woman spoke. The thing about being weird. She furrowed her eyebrows. "What's weird?" She asked her.

Without her noticing Puppets, her cat, had twisted around in her arms and was trying to play with the Nicholas's Scarf.

Nicholas ignored Sasha's strange comment, though he was somewhat insulted by the implications. How dare she call anyone weird?

The teenager flinched when he felt something tugging at his scarf, but his displeasure melted into a genuine smile when he saw the cat who was tugging at it. "Hey," he said playfully, "that's a 750 dollar scarf you're clawing at." Of course, he didn't mind at all. The striped piece was replaceable, and Nick had far more money than meaningful interactions in his life. He absolutely adored cats, something that was visible in the cheerful glow lighting up his usually sullen face.

Maybe the elevator ride wasn't so bad after all...

Flor had mentioned Sasha's inner thoughts. Oh no, did she say them out loud again? She was taken aback, her face growing red as she flustered, Ahh! Did I say that out loud? Ah hah, hah, sorry. She turned around to face the corner to punish herself.

Sasha didn't pay Nicholas's comment any heed. Even though Edgar took two thousand dollars out of her pocket earlier, she still had more in her other pocket, so a $750 scarf wasn't any shock to her. What was odd was that she was still in her sleeping clothes. She always slept in the same yellow plaid skirt and old gray sweater. Between last night's brilliant notion and the early morning debacle, then these tacks, she didn't have the time to change yet.

To atone for her sins, Sasha offered Flor an opportunity. You can bash me over the head and kill me for my rudeness. Sasha braced for impact. She didn't want to die yet, especially after her newest brilliant thought, but she's willing to do what must be done. She wondered which would happen first, her death, or the elevator reaching it's destination. Sasha was betting on her death.

"Gentleman my ass. She can't handle being next to men. Maybe it's better for her to keep her contraptions inside her own home." God knows what could've happened if it were only Ian there. He would've probably left her there. Val looked to the horizon, in which he saw a ship. A yacht, probably. He remembered a summer in which he spent most of his days sailing with his aunt.
I miss home. I should call my aunt when I get back..

He subconsciously sank back into the water, which he had gotten used to already. Joseph and Ellie shared a simple, quiet stare. He quickly looked elsewhere, feeling a bit awkward. Perhaps he wasn't so used to women yet, either. He felt like a teenager again- it made him feel so inferior. He sunk further in, ready to just give himself up to the sea at any time. He stopped when the water reached his lower chest. "That's enough about me, though. Got anything to rant about? Does the job of a café barista take a hard toll on you?" He chuckled. It was half-assed, but a smile was there.

Flor eyes widen at Sasha's solution. She hadn't expected that answer and spluttered her next answer "I-It's fine." She said, "I'm not a very violent." Sasha was such a little thing that it would have been hard to be angry. This was the oddest elevator ride in the world.

Then she noticed that Puppet was playing with the boy's scarf when she heard the price of the scarf she immediately got her cat away from the scarf though Nicholas didn't seem that mad. "Sorry" She said again "He'll play with anything that dangles, I've learned scarfs and necklaces should never be worn around him." She put Puppets down and pulled out a mouse toy for him to entertain himself with. It was his favorite toy, and he grabbed it into his mouth and began attacking the poor toy. This was becoming to be the longest ride in the world. Finally, the Elevator dinged on her floor. She grabbed at Puppet's leash and clicked her tongue so that he'd follow her.

"Gentleman my ass. She can't handle being next to men. Maybe it's better for her to keep her contraptions inside her own home." Ellie laughed, at Val's comment

Her laughter died down as she noticed Val go silent. It was only the sound of the waves that surrounded us. It was so peaceful like it was just the two of them. Ellie followed the direction where he was looking and noticed the yacht off on the horizon. This was the place Ellie felt the safest. In the water, and taking in the waves. Her attention went back to Val as he sunk into the water, and we just stared at each other for a moment. Wow, I've never noticed how much his eyes reminded me of the sea... Embarrassed at her thoughts, she looked away for a moment as he spoke up again, asking about my work.

The rare smile that seems to dance on his face, made her smile forgetting her thoughts, "I've gotten into a rhythm after working there for three years..." Ellie sighed in thought, "The best part of working as a barista is the people you get to meet. It's never a dull day working at the cafe... and one day, I'll have one right on the boardwalk! I'll get to wake up and meet new people, talk to those that return. As the sound of the ocean becomes the backdrop music." Ellie looked toward the beach boardwalk that held the numerous shops and just envisioned her little cafe among them all.

"Thanks for the offer, but I'm afraid I'll have to decline," Nicholas said sarcastically, still a bit confused by Sasha.

"Hey, don't apologize, it's fine. Your cat is adorable, and I can just buy a new scarf anyway. It's nothing special." He looked a bit disappointed when she moved the cat to the floor, but continued to smile at him.

Once the woman and her cat had left, Nicholas leaned back into his corner of the elevator, his usual emotionless expression returning.
