Fantasy Steam and Crêpes (Open)

"What makes you think they wanted the crystal ?"

Asked Burke suspiciously as he appeared at the secret doorway, brushing his coat. There was no reason to think that, he saw.

"And if they did, then why would they think it was here ? And why would they want it in the first place ?"

He then sat down on the chair Albert was sitting on earlier; the one that used to be thrown on the floor. He glanced at the newcomer, and waved his hand.

"Hello, Copper."

"This Gem right here can conduct almost any form of energy very well and I have plans to use it" Jekkel pondered on why they wanted the gem "Well They might need it for a machine or something" Jekkel wondered over to the kitchen and brought out a freshly opened bottle of wine, He poured three cups for each person and gave it to them. "Well I reckon we should put up the door first"

"Yes, yes, that's all good. But, you see, they'd have no logical reason to think that it would be in your possession, would they ?" He asked skeptically, heaving the door which he had sent off its hinges with a heavy sigh, putting it back upright.

He turned and accepted the glass, seating himself once again on the armchair.

"Now, let's say they did assume it was with you, then why ? Someone must've told them that it's not at the Italian's."

He raised the glass to his lips, about to take a sip of wine, but decided against it and placed it carefully on the drawer beside him, which was scratched, the keyholes broken.

Burke's eyes caught something on the floor. He leaned forward and picked it up, looking at it carefully. It was a pocket watch, silver, with an emblem on the back. He stuffed it in his inner pocket without speaking of it. The others most likely didn't notice.

"Alright, so let's say they were the government, then why do they want it ? They're against the industrial revolution, aren't they ?" Burke paused for a moment, before speaking up again. "All of this is hypothetical, of course." He added, almost as an afterthought.

"Well hypothetically the government or who ever did it could want it to make weapon of some sort, like a death day those science fiction writers write about. Of course they could want the crystal or something here for other reasons." Rex said holding his glass and leaning on one of the walls. "What ever they wanted I have my money on that they want it to make weapon." Rex added before sipping from his glass.

"I can't help but agree with you, mister Copper, but once again, why would they assume that it was here, in this house ? Yet, even more importantly, how did they know about the object itself ?"

Now, Burke thought, there was indeed a way that they would have known. There must be a traitor among the Order. That's no surprise, Burke thought to himself. There were spies and traitors everywhere. They just have to be found. After all, he himself is a spy, bringing crucial information to the Order whenever he can about the government. But so far there's been nothing.

It sucks is that I keep not replying because I've been so bust lately and now I have no idea what's happening and I'm too lazy to read. Summarize, anyone?

Jekkel listened to the conversation that was going on between Rex and Seth. "Let's not think of this know I have had two much thinking today," Jekkel said jokingly. He gave a swift yawn "So there's two guest room's if you guys want to stay there for tonight I think I'm going to go to bed early. Jekkel started to slowly climb the stairs sipping his wine. He approached the top of the stairs and headed to his master bedroom. He peeped his head into the room, The door was open and the room was a mess. "Oh come on people" Jekkel walked in there angerly his bed was a mess the drapes were torn and thrown on the ground like a dirty rag The Drawers were tipped over "Why people at least have some sense to put it back.He walked over to his bed and face-planted into the nice into the nice lush feather pillow. Jekkel went to sleep immediately after faceplanting. He had rather odd dreams that night but nothing worth mentioning unless if you're into a dancing robot's that generate wine and money.

Burke rose to his feet, pulling out his golden pocket watch and glancing at the time.

"Well, I guess that's my time to leave. I'll send someone to fix up your house." He said, as Jekkel went up the stairs, heading for the door. "Au revoir, Copper."

He walked out the doorway, and pushed the other part of the door so that the doors looked closed.

"Alright, now's time for some information," he sighed to himself as he stopped a carriage and climbed in.

"Début des Champs-Élysées. Arc De Triomphe." Burke told the driver. He looked outside as the sound of the whip was of followed by wood on stone and hooves on stone. It wasn't long before they arrived.

"Vous pouvez arrêter ici." He told the driver, who pulled up before the Arc De Triomphe. Burke handed him the money with a brief merci.

Once again he glanced at his watch. He was barely late. Putting it back in his pocket, Burke turned around, spotted his target, and headed towards the figure.

He'd been standing there for what felt like hours, but has actually been fifteen minutes, under the shadow of the great Arc De Triomphe, almost leaning against one leg, his eyes scanning the area, landing on a specific person at last. Of course. Late as always.

"Monsieur Burke."

"Colin Auger."

"Tu es en retard. Comme toujours."

"Je m'excuse pour cela. Maintenant , nous allons trouver un meilleur endroit où nous pouvons parler ?"

"Oui. Par ici."

With that, Colin turned and gestured to his own wagon, where the driver was waiting. The two got in and it started moving almost immediately, heading for the rebel base.

Louise nodded in response, although she was so confused. Was there really anybody in need of medical assistance at all? All information she had been given was contradictory. This was probably because of her tiredness. Her earlier patient, the engineer ith a third degree burn, had taken a lot of her energy, as he had been very erratic, and made the whole procedure a lot more stressful and tiring. She didn't blame him though, as she would probably also panic if she had been burned.

The little girl walked back to the shop. She said greeted farewell to Mario and climbed up the barrell. She desperatly needed to get home. When she got out of the shop, she ignored the other people and just hurried home. It was unhealthy to go to sleep late, and as a doctor, she should be an example to follow when it came to health. When she got home, she quickly went to bed.

Jekkel opened his eyes. He was trying to remember what happened last night, then it all came back to him in an instant. "It's still pretty late I better go to the order." Jekkel got up slowly and rubbed his eyes. "I'm going to need a snack before the meet" Jekkel Glanced at one of his drawers, It was on the ground like everything else in the house. He gave a quick sigh and put the Drawer back up right. He retrieved some fresh clothes and put them on. Jekkel was out the door in a matter seconds he did not want the be late for the meeting. He quickly found his horse outside his home, He undid the rope that was tied to the fence and rode into the town.

Jekkel was riding around on his horse looking for a restaurant open at this hour which was very unlikely but to his luck, he found a small cafe. It was not the best-looking cafe but it was not the worst. Jekkel found a boy to watch his horse while he was gone, He threw the boy some franc's and entered the Cafe without a word. Jekkel ordered some wine and some Crapes, an odd combo yes but it did not bother Jekkel that much. Jekkel sat outside eating his food wondering what would go down at the meeting.

Anyone

"En retarde comme toujours, monsieur Burke." Spoke a familiar voice as Seth Burke entered the office, closing the door quietly behind him.

"Désolé." Said Burke as he sat down. The other person's seat was behind the large wooden desk, its back facing Burke. It was a swivel chair, and he could see the brim of a dark hat over the top and the tips of gloved hands at the arms, but he suspected Fawkes wasn't occupying the seat.

"How's been life treating you ?" He asked the masked man now standing behind him.

"As always." Replied Fawkes. "News has reached my ears that the government is working on a big project, they just need a... source, of some sort."

His accent as a combination of British, Spanish, and French.

Burke reached into his coat and searched for a moment, and pulled out a silver pocket watch.

"Why the hurry ?" Fawkes asked him, eyeing the silver object.

"Take a look at this." Burke replied, turning the silver watch, revealing the emblem.

For a few seconds Fawkes remained silent, then he took the watch and inspected it, opened it. After a moment of silence, he spoke at last.

"Where did you find this ?"

"Jekkel Scotty's. Long story."

"Parle moi de ça. Aller de l'avant." Fawkes took a seat as Burke recounted the story of the bank exploding, the alley, and Jekkel's house.

"They reckon the government wants the generator crystal."

"They might."

"No, because if they did then they'd be at the Italian's, not Scotty's. I reckon they wanted something else."

"What is it ?"

"A power source as well. The Generator. My little creation. Told them I left it at Scotty's during one meeting. The Generator is not known to the rest of the Order."

"So you're saying there-"

"There's a spy, yes, of course. There always is. Now we just need to find one of those and catch him red-handed."

He grabbed a quill which was on the large wooden desk and tore a blank parchment, then started scribbling the names of all the people in the meeting. Only seven names, himself excluded.

"There. Now, monsieur Fawkes, I guess it is your time to speak." Burke said as he replaced the hawk-feather quill in the ink bottle.

Fawkes reached forward and grabbed the parchment, scanning it briefly before folding it and placing it in one of his many almost invisible pockets.

"My... sources tell me that the Government is recruiting more and more spies to join the Order and bring them information. They managed to capture a few and deliver false information to the Government, returning with actual facts to me. The Government has started working on an army of metal soldiers."

"Ironic."

"They wield guns. Hunters. All they need is a good power source to activate them. The only thing we can do about this now is keep the good stuff away from them."

Fawkes placed the silver watch on the table and turned around, walking to the window, his back now to Burke, staring through his mask at the outside world.

"Today has been a strange day indeed, monsieur Burke. Leave the rest to me."

Burke looked at the time in his golden watch and quickly placed it back in its place. He rose, picking up the silver watch.

"Well, monsieur Fawkes, now I have to hurry, for I have a meeting with the Order. Au revoir."

"Monsieur Burke," Fawkes stopped him as he reached for the door handle.

"Oui ?"

"Do you know what this is ? What we're doing ?"

Burke didn't reply.

"This is revolution. Au revoir, monsieur Burke."

Burke walked out the door, left the building to the street where it started raining. He walked away, empty handed, heading for the quarters of the Order, but stopping at an old and small fishing store briefly first, Fawkes's words occupying his minds.

This is revolution.

And his mind thought a century back, to the French revolution.

As the British man entered the room, he noticed it was empty, save for a single Minister.

"Well, that's a first. Bonjour, monsieur." Burke said as he entered the room, indicating his timing.

As Jekkel sat out in the open it started raining "Oh come on" Jekkel left his food behind and ran for cover. When he finally approached cover he was already so close to the secret passage. Jekkel walked around trying to find the right switch to open the cellar door. He searched for about 5 minutes and furious as heck he found it after tripping and falling on his face, He saw a mirror on the roof which was the marker where the door would open up. The door opened Jekkel walked under hoping no one saw him the door closed quickly behind him. There appeared to be another door in front of him but this one had locks instead of hidden levers. Jekkel reached into his pocket and took out his key ring. This ring had 11 keys on it, 1 Skeleton key for almost every lock in the order and the other 10 for his house this including his special key from his parents. Jekkel put the key in the lock and wola the door opened. He walked past the door to find himself in another hallway, This hallway lead to other rooms for the order But Jekkel was looking for room 236. He traveled a couple of steps to the left and he found the room he was looking for. He opened The Door to find Seth was the only one occupying it . "Ello Sir" Jekkel said while approaching his assigned chair. "Am I early?"

(You were the only person in the room right?)

Later that evening Nathan finally roused from his sleep with a bad crick in his back from sleeping in a chair. He slowly stood up and stretched out his back before walking to the window overlooking the factory. It was relatively empty now just a few people on the night watch to ensure that all of the systems were running smoothly. He slowly walked around the office to the door before pulling it open and descending the stairs outside back down to the main factory floor. He walked through the large furnaces, nodding at the shift manager as he passed before arriving at a relatively deserted area with one exceptionally large furnace with lots of pipes leading out the top. If you followed those pipes however you would find that the lead no where.

Nathan walked over to a large control desk on the far side of the furnace and pulled a very specific combination of levers causing a his of steam to escape and the centre of the console to rise upwards revealing a downward sloping stairway. Proceeding downwards Nathan closed the door behind him and reached another locked door, behind this large crackles and small booms of energy could be heard. Nathan quickly unlocked the door and proceeded into a corridor with a glass wall on one side. Behind the glass was a large room filled with large coils of wire on top of towers with energy arcing between them. Going down the corridor he entered anther room, this one had wires coming from the room with towers connected to large glass bell jars with glowing elements inside. Wires then left these jars and connected to an array of electrodes submerged in water. Around these elctrodes there where tubes which lead up and into large tanks on the other side of the room.

This was Nathan's pride and joy, the ability to produce a gas that allowed things to float. However he still faced the problem that this gas was highly explosive and very difficult for him to produce in large quantities. He also wanted to discover what the gas produced at the other electrode was. Sighing in got down to work.
