[STMT] Star Trek Megathread - Starfleet Roleplay
Let me preface this thread by saying that I have seen a lot of Star Trek RP threads. They simply have 1 or 2 people in 1 ship, playing small events. What I have decided to do is create a megathread which will act as the hub for several ships in a small fleet (our goal) that are commanded by a central hub. Events can be shipwide or larger. If this is successful, it will provide an organised and large playing field, for anyone who wishes to roleplay in Star Trek.
But how does it work?
Our hope is to set up different threads for ships, and joined ship events, linked here on this page. The first to "sign up" for this roleplay thread and have good character bios will get to name their own ship, and will be responsible for gathering a team, including a science officer, engineer, helmsman, second officer, and substitutes, if they wish. All ship members applications will run through the captain, and central hub. Events will be coordinated to when the largest amount of crew members are able to participate.
What do I need to enter?
This - for now - is a fairly regular RP (frequent OOC use and other forms of breaking RP will be noticed ). So, you will only need an understanding of the Star Trek universe (This RP is set around the time of Next Generation), marks and bearings (only how they work, and a rough estimate to location), the map of the 4 quadrants and some Forum and Chat RP knowledge. Put your character bio on this thread, the answers to the questions further down, and if you are accepted (it won't be that hard), you will be asked to name your ship, and will be given the layout for the thread. Then, go and gather some comrades, forward their application to us, and if we are in agreement, they will be accepted.
Using dice in combat (Testing feature)
During a combat segment, you will roll the dice, to find out how much damage your shot did. Use a 10 sided die. For phasers 1-3 is superficial damage. 4-5 is 10%, 6-7 is 20%, 8-9 is 30%, and 10 is 50%. For photon torpedo spread, 1-3 is superficial damage, 4-5 is 20%, hull damage, 6-8 is 50% major hull damage, 9 is 75%, major damage on all decks, 10 is 100% ship obliterated. The percentages for photon torpedoes add up together, and so do the descriptions. Photon torpedoes have half the impact on shields. You may only fire 1 photon spread and 1 phaser until your enemy fires.

This is a megathread which, in the future, will contain many ships. Apply here, with bio and answer the questions. Send crew applications here too, after you see them. We are Starfleet at approximately the time of Next Generation. Post with suggestions and questions. There may be short, one sentence posts during events (e.g. "Plot course for ...").

Apply as a special enemy character - where you have to only answer the general questions and a short RP section where you are the enemy (as a special character, you can ask to play as the enemy in a reply to a given event. You are not a specific character, but can play as any enemy).

- All rules of the Federation at the time of Next Generation apply.
- We will be operating under a 3-ship limit, for the near future.
- During events, there will be short moments of speech, such as when a captain sets a course. This may deviate from your usual Forum RP experience, however, simply reply back as if you are talking.
- In combat, one may be required to roll the dice for hit/miss.
- We will be making changes to accommodate to this site. Check this page for updates now and again.
- The feel of this RP may change, we are in the earliest of stages.
- Post on this thread with any suggestions or questions.
- Expect oddities and a slow start. We are still adjusting to this site!
