The Tiger 1 literally has a crank-up engine. Theres a panel on the aft of the frame right behind the engine, and you open it up. You stick in a crank rod and you turn it until the Mayback engine starts up, sort of like a crank toy.
Not sure about the batteries though.

But yeah they can help!
