He looked at the girl as he tried to not be too surprised. She didn't know what fashion trends were sure that was acceptable, but not knowing what internet was? It was sort of unbelievable. He would've thought one of his friends hired the girl to pull a prank on him, but he didn't have any of those. At least none that he could remember. Anyways the girl in front of him seemed way to sincere for it to be a prank. "Where did you live before coming here? It must be super rural if you haven't even heard of internet before,"he was genuinely interested in her well being. How much did this girl know of? Did she know what computers were? Or phones? How has she made it this far in life? It must take a lot for someone who doesn't remember anything to feel sorry for you.

"I believe there's a library about two blocks that way,"he pointed his thumb behind him. He wasn't too familiar with the town since he was quite new to the area, but he remembered passing it on his way to find a cafe. He motioned for the blonde to follow him as he started to head in the direction he pointed to. He hoped he wouldn't make too many wrong turns and make a fool of himself. He didn't own a map, because that's what GPS and google maps were for, and since he didn't have a phone yet he was a lost cause. He couldn't even remember if he was good at remembering directions. What a dilemma.

Coal's eyes were focused on the figure before. him. A small tiny spark flushed over his eyes as he pressed all of his options in his head. He could lead the fight away from Rem, He could leave like Rem stated, or he could just shock the shit out of this guy before him. Coal was leaning towards getting him and his sniper buddy now, that way they wont have to worry about them later... Leave something small to fester, and soon enough you have a mold problem.

"Vanguard, we need to leave now," Rem repeated himself. Rem made his way over to Coal and went to place a hand on his shoulder to grab his attention, but stopped when he felt something was off. Rem cursed under his breath as he figured out Coal's response to leaving.

Coal tilted his head as his eyes shifted towards the gun in the figures hand. He raised up a hand and the gun from the figures' hands snapped away and raced towards Coal's hand. "I dare your friend to fire again." Coal stated as he let go of the gun and let it float in the air. The gun turned around and pointed at the hooded figure.

-Operation Vanguard-

C-7’s brows furrowed in confusion, mildly curious as to the intent behind the main target’s actions. Surely he wasn’t trying to intimidate the disciple into submission, they were devoted enough to do anything for the lord and his shepherd. Of course, not more so than he but that was besides the point. Straining his eyes through the binoculars to pick up whatever unseen minute detail was eluding him, C-7 lamented having not requested the divine miracle of enhanced vision from the benevolent Solomon. Maybe he should quickly go back to the church and pray that his foolish hindsight be forgiven and... no, he couldn’t afford to neglect this mission even for a literal second. He’d probably be needed soon. C-7 continued watch, gaze intently scanning the fight’s immediate area.

“D-3, prepare to mobilise.”

“D-3, hard copy.”

As his gun was magnetically stolen from him the disciple, otherwise known as D-1, did not hesitate in the slightest and sprinted forward as fast as was humanly possible to close the 3m distance between the two combatants. In his right hand a serrated steel tactical knife appeared, which he promptly used to try and swipe at Vanguard’s throat. Negotiations had failed again, although the secondary target still seemed somewhat apprehensive. D-1 knew what continuing his attack meant, even if it was futile.

And so did D-2, the sniper on the rooftop. Continued engagement meant he was to continue providing supporting fire. As soon as D-1 moved the sniper disciple immediately pulled the trigger, the light-armour piercing round travelling at great speed on its journey to penetrate Vanguard’s skull. C-7 continued to watch the engagement, mentally filing away everything that occurred, and wondering about the two targets present. He could only hypothesise that the group they belonged to weren’t a large organisation, the discipline and professionalism of these particular members were too strange. They looked young too, likely having been recruited from the escaped test subjects that had been reportedly freed in the past. So it was a small vigilante group in possession of powerful abilities that were attacking all these facilities, C-7 was certain of that much at least. Luckily none of those facilities belonged to God’s Kingdom, but it was only a matter of time until they were next. Yes, that was why Solomon was so interested in these self-proclaimed freedom fighters. Prevention was always better than cure, especially when it came to the infected.

Coal's eyes narrowed at the hooded figure as he rushed at him. He could feel as if the situation was working out in his favor. Unless there was another that he didn't know about....

As the figure rusted at him, Coal let his magnetic shield do more of the work than he needed to. The metal knife went for Coal's throat, but the magnetic forced glided to blade to the right and it missed Coal completely. coal would have questioned the guys choice of using metal in the first place, but time was running short for the hooded figure.
As the second round released from the barrel Coal was able to pin point it now, not only that but control it as well.

Blood splattered onto Coal's mask and hoodie... The ground held more of the red substance, but no bullet was found. Instead, the round was making it's way back to the sniper, landing dead center in the man's forehead.

Rem wasn't actually surprised to see the figure fall, he somewhat expected it. But now that the two threats were gone... They did need to leave. Rem placed a hand on Coal's shoulder, "Come on." He said in a low voice. As Rem started to leave, Coal went to join him, but his eyes drifted back to the scene and then around the area as much as he could take in. He wondered if it was just the two of them or if there were more.

He didn't have time to investigate the situation... He could have kept one or both alive, but he was not about to those wanting to kill him wander freely like so.

Quickly disappearing into the city, the two were quick to blend in as mush as possible.

With their masks and hoodies tucked away inside a back pack Rem was able to pick up from some where, they now found themselves in the heart of the city and not by the pier where the fight had occurred. Rem raised his hand as he hailed a taxi over to them. Both got into the cab, "Twenty-second and third." Rem told the driver as he glanced to Coal as Coal shut the door. They couldn't exactly talk about the whole thing with wandering ears around, but Rem did have things to say to the other. He would just have to wait until they got back home.

Tamiya abruptly stopped, absentmindedly twirling a braid around her finger. She nodded, suddenly grinning. Briefly closing her eyes and taking a deep breath, her vision split and another version of her appeared many yards away. One continued on the path to the studio listed on the boxing poster, and the other headed the opposite direction towards the nearest library. I should probably figure out what type of fighting I want to learn... The first version of her quickly arrived at the boxing studio, meeting a gruff looking man sitting at the front. "Do you have any open classes? I'm interested in enrolling." She quickly relaxed, trying to seem like she wasn't nervous. She had never tried any self defense before, and physical sports weren't really her thing.
"Sorry miss, but no." He said clearly. Tamiya nodded and scurried out, disappointedly continuing to walk aimlessly. She neared the pier, figuring she was almost close enough to reunite herself with her projection. She looked over the beach, noticing a black-robed figure standing facing the water. A glint of metal brought her eyes to his hand, where she saw a sharp metal blade. She tentatively drew closer to him, staying a safe distance away. "W-what are you doing with that?" She asked meekly, her quiet but high pitched voice ringing out over the beach. Her hand suddenly started twitching viciously, followed by her shoulder. She casually hugged her arm to her torso, smiling apologetically at the figure. "One minute," She managed before her figure fizzled out.
Tamiya returned to the version of herself near the library, groaning. I haven't been practicing enough. She shook her head moodily, treading on. A few silent minutes later, she whipped her phone out of her pocket. Tamiya rolled her eyes, sliding it back in. Still two blocks away. Fun. As she neared the library, yet another blinding glint of light flashed across her vision. She whipped her hand up to her eyes in an attempt to block the sharp light.
Slowly withdrawing her hand, she peered at the source of the light. Furrowing her brows, she laughed quietly. It'd been a long time since she'd seen a cosplayer in Sherwood Shores, and she was well-versed in the usual characters. She sped up, approaching the woman. "Hey! Sorry to bother you, but that's a wonderful cosplay. Would you mind if I took a picture of you?" She asked shyly, folding her hands together.

"Where did you live before coming here?" he started, his face containing a confusing mixture of curiosity and worry. "It must be super rural if you haven't even heard of Internet before." She didn't know what to say about that. Truly, it must have been a massive building to have all across the world recognize it. "I believe there's a library about two blocks that way," he continued. She began to follow him as she thought about how to respond. She didn't even have the faintest clue about this Internet. It had to be a fortress or temple of some kind... but she couldn't see one on the horizon. Just building after building.

"Would, 'I'm a long way from home' be a suitable answer?" She wasn't sure how much this man would believe her if she said she was from Camelot, a castle that likely didn't even exist in this realm. "To be honest, I've never heard of that place." Before she could continue or he could respond, a woman with darker skin approached, pulling her out of her train of thought.

"Hey!" she began with a cheery smile on her face, "Sorry to bother you, but that's a wonderful cosplay. Would you mind if I took a picture of you?" So many new contexts and understandings flooded her that she froze for a minute. Would people just... run up and talk if she wore this everywhere? Requesting... pictures? What did that even mean? A painter had once come and painted a picture of King Arthur, but she didn't appear to have a painting set on her. Part of her wanted to deny this request, but the woman had a shy smile that Christina couldn't bring herself to say no to.

"Thank you ma'am, and I'd love to." She said with a smile of mock understanding and the intention to just roll with the next few moments.

-Operation Vanguard-

Of course, the operation had not ended as simply as one may have first thought.

While rushing towards Vanguard, D-1 could have sworn he’d heard someone say something to him. A voice perhaps not quite akin to master Solomon’s telepathy miracles, but not completely physical either. Perhaps it was just his adrenaline going into overdrive as he was coming to terms with the fact that he was about to die. Indeed his eyes widened slightly in momentary shock as the bullet briefly entered the back of his head, piercing effortlessly through his cloak’s black hood and killing the man instantly. Up on the rooftops a few blocks away, C-7 raised a quizzical eyebrow as he felt one of the disciples’ connections disappear. Solomon’s miracles didn’t malfunction.

“Young and murderous, eh? I suppose we did strike first...”

What did catch him off guard was the precision and versatility of Vanguard’s next move. It took him a few moments to work out what had actually happened, but C-7 was smart enough to realise it had been the D-2’s own bullet that toppled him from the rooftop into the street below. C-7 frowned again and placed a hand on his chin thoughtfully, his smooth Caucasian features barely visible in the depths of his white hood. It was likely Vanguard had taken note of the angle and trajectory of the first shot and reverse engineered a return path should a second bullet come his way. While the first round had taken him by surprise by the extra force and hidden element behind it, it seemed he was not so weak as to be beat by regular armed humans. That was just as well, this operation would have been a waste of time otherwise. Smiling to himself with satisfaction, C-7 put a hand to his ear as the golden symbol reappeared on the side of his head.

“D-3, mobilise. Follow the targets. Clean up crew, begin recovering evidence.”

A serious of confirmations came through with supernatural clarity over the magical ‘radio’ that seemed to be built into each disciple’s head through some kind of ability or miracle. In reality, it was a small sub-power that Solomon could grant his followers, allowing them telepathic communication to others with the same miracle. Luckily, they had the choice to activate it or not, so their thoughts would not be constantly broadcast unless Solomon wished it. And realistically, who amongst them would deny him that? No, they were too devoted to deny their prophet anything, to do anything other than hope to prove slightly useful to their messiah.

In the street an unmarked vehicle with a fake number plate began slowly failing the two targets as they fled. D-3, an average looking woman in casual wear and sunglasses, continued following the two as they got in their taxi. Hopefully they’d lead her to their hideout and she could inform overseer C-7 on some truly divine news. Meanwhile, two police cars showed up to the scene and began cordoning the street block off, directing onlookers away as two nondescript vans pulled up to the beach. A series of people dressed in ‘Removal Crew’ uniforms unloaded from each van and begun taking the two bodies away. All the blood and equipment were also cleared away, as with any traces that anything other than a freak supernatural attack had occurred. Now standing on the scene himself, C-7 examined the battlefield with continued curiosity. He had been on a rooftop two blocks away just minutes ago, but there was no one who’d seen him earlier to question how strangely robed man had arrived so ridiculously quickly. A ‘Removal Crew’ woman hand C-7 a glass evidence vial and he took it carefully between thumb and forefinger. It contained a couple of inches of dark red blood.

“Ahh... Solomon will be pleased.”

Before he could respond to the blonde girl a stranger ran up to her and asked to take a picture with her. He couldn’t help but laugh a little as he was sure she had no idea what to expect of that request. If the girl didn’t know what the internet was then he was sure she didn’t have a clue what a phone was. He took a step back from the two of them to let them do their thing. He didn’t want to appear in the background or side of the photo. His arms were crossed loosely over his ribs as he waited in thought. The blonde clearly thought the internet was a building or a place so he’d have to explain how it all worked sometime. He had a weird craving to reach into his back pocket and pull out his phone even though he knew he didn’t have one. This brought back his attention to what he could of been in the past.

Over the last few days he’s known how to randomly do things, and he had random habits or cravings for things he didn’t even recognize the name of. The most worrisome was when he saw an old man and a couple sitting in the table beside him two nights ago. She was introducing her girlfriend to the man, and after it clicked in his brain that his child was dating woman he cussed her out. It surprised him that others still felt that way. The man left the building in anger after he raised his cain and smacked the girl on the head. Naku paid for his meal and got up to walk after the old man when he saw blood dripping from the wound the man created. He stayed behind the guy, matching his footsteps with him so the other wouldn’t notice that he was being followed. His mind was in a numbed trance, as if whatever was going to happen he had trained to get used to. He froze in place when he realized what he was planning to do.

He had turned on his heel as he made his way back to his apartment. His heart was pounding so hard in his chest that he was afraid of it bursting a blood vessel or something. He curled up in his bed when he made it to his home as he thought about what this meant for him. Maybe he was just mad that the other chose to hurt their kid because of who they liked and he wasn’t going to actually hurt the man. That could be it, yeah. Naku blinked the memories away as he returned himself to reality. He stretched his arms out in front of himself as he waited for the two to be done with the pictures. His stomach let out a rumble which reminded him of why he left the house in the first place. It also reminded him of the crab who stole his lunch yesterday. He still had plans to find the animal and get the sandwich back from it, he didn’t want to acknowledge the fact that it was probably being eaten by ants at this very moment.

Once at their destination Coal stepped out of the taxi keeping his eyes n his phone as Rem paid the driver and got out as well. He too pulled out his phone as they stood on the sidewalk. Rem had done a good job with covering up his wound so others walking past them would not noticed that had been shot... Or that he had iced it over. "The car should be here in a few minutes." Rem stated as he placed his phone away and looked around. Coal nodded slowly as his focus was more so on his phone.

Rem got curious as he looked over to see what Coal was looking at. It was the files from Candlewick and he was making notes on it. His thumbs rushing over the screen, Coal had to place his thoughts in before forgetting them later. Coal was always so detailed with those things that it bored Rem to no end.

Rem felt a wave of relief flow over him as he noticed a starbucks two buildings down. He taped Coal on the shoulder and motioned towards the small but rather popular coffee shop. Coal followed without taking his eyes off the phone. Fifteen minutes was a bit of a wait time in the city. So grabbing a cup of coffee would help that time go by faster.

Rem went to go inside but stopped when Coal stopped in front of the shop. "I'll be right here." Coal utter under his breath to the other. Rem didn't think twice as he stepped into the shop and of course got in line... There would always be a line....

Coal zipped through the files as fast as he could before sending them to Ross. With in a few minutes after sending them, Ross texted him with questions as to why he placed that Candlewick was not fit for the team. Coal was about to text her back when Ross called him. Coal rose a brow to this as he answered the phone. "Hello?"

"What do you mean you were attacked?!" Ross screamed.
Coal had to remove the phone away from his ear, wondering how she knew about the hooded figure and the sniper. "What do you mean?" he asked placing the phone to his ear.
"Rem just texted me the whole thing." Ross stated calmly, angry, but still calm... To some extent.

Coal looked back to the coffee shop, spotting Rem getting his coffee. His gritted his teeth as he hated things others would mention to Ross, that Coal didn't want her to know about.
"Well?" Ross asked.
Coal grumbled as he looked back to the streets, watching the cars go by along with other people on the sidewalk. Coal's eyes landed on a black car with tinted windows pulling up to the sidewalk. Coal pinched the bridge of his nose as he didn't want to answer anything just yet. "I'll explain it all later." He told her as he hung up the phone and then turned it off. Knowing all too well that she would keep calling him until he answered again.

He let out a deep breath as Rem came back with his coffee, seeing the car and Coal next to it. "Ready?" Rem asked.
Coal looked to rem with an annoyed expression on his face.
"What?" Rem asked.
Coal smacked the coffee from Rem's hand to the ground before turning and heading to get into the car.
"You're a dick you know that right?" Rem snapped.
Coal looked back to him with the same look as before, "Choke on it." Coal stated before getting into the car.
Rem shook his head as he was quick to get into the car as well.

As the car drove, the two men in the front seats of the car were more like bodyguards than chauffeurs. Their eyes peeled for anyone trying to follow them or anything coming their way. The one driving was reluctant to notice a vehicle following them and of course took it upon himself to ditch their small problem. Soon enough he had lost them and made his way to Ross' head quarters in the center of the city. Turning into a private underground parking garage, the man parked the car.

Both bodyguards stepped out along with Coal and Rem and walked them to the elevator. Their eyes still peeled for anything out of the ordinary. The garage was indeed secured and no one could just walk in off the street without detailed clearance. The doors slowly shut with the four inside and soon they would be out of sight.

"You owe me a coffee." Rem muttered as the doors closed.
Coal let his angered eyes shift to Rem just as they were out of sight.

Tamiya smiled brightly and nodded her head in thanks before proceeding to take a rapid series of photos. She spun around, smiling sweetly at the camera to take a selfie with the girl. While she was taking photos, she noticed the man that had been walking with her had shied away from her. Usually Tamiya would stay out of other people's business, but the girl cosplaying had been so nice to her that she was emboldened. She slipped her phone back into her pocket, gently smiling at the man. He was lost in thought, seemingly uncomfortable. "Hey, you guys look new here. Do you need any help getting around? I would love to show you the sights of our beautiful city, Sherwood Shores." She quipped, gesturing dramatically around her.

The man moved aside, as if he was afraid of getting in the way. Christina then saw the woman pull out one of the small rectangular objects and start tapping its front side while point it towards her. Christina looked towards the object curiously, investigating it. She'd seen that kind of object many times already, and it seemed that whatever it was, the people here were dependent on it. After a moment, the women moved to the side of Christina and pointed it... away from them? But finally, she got a chance to see the other side. It seemed flat, and showed an almost perfect image of the two of them standing together on its glowing screen. Christina noticed the woman giving her best smile at it and decided to do the same. The woman tapped a red spot on the screen several times while they were positioned this way before putting it back in her pocket and smiling contentedly.

"Hey, you guys look new here," she said. "Do you need any help getting around? I would love to show you the sights of our beautiful city, Sherwood Shores." She gestured towards the strange new world Christina had found herself in. It was no Camelot, but it did seem quite pretty to her.

"I'm afraid not, kind stranger," Christina said in a cheerful way. "We have our own quest. We're going to the library for information. We do appreciate the offer however." She finished with a bow towards the woman.

Seeing the two finish taking pictures Naku made his way back to the two females. He actually didn’t mind the offer, but he didn’t want to contradict the knight. He instead just sent a silent plea filled face to the girl with the phone. He wasn’t sure on the exact route to the library and it never hurt to have an experienced guide. And then the other female could help explain to the blonde what internet was, and what phones were. “Actually do you happen to know the directions to a cheap clothing store?”he asked the girl as he remembered his problem at home. He didn’t know if he could find any more female clothes that would fit him out of the old residents outfits. “Or anywhere people normally post when they are looking for someone to do a job?”

“It’s information I need for a few side quests of my own,”he clarified to the blonde, “Though it might benefit you as well to get a change of clothes so you can blend in, and money for food and shelter.” He gave them both a smile, “But yeah going to the library is our main priority.”

Rikishinto placed a hand upon the girl’s shoulder, urging her to step back and tone down her intrusive approach. The girl complied and stood idle, gazing up at the man before her. He didn’t look like any temple dweller she had met before. Still, same or not, her interest remained. Eyes shimmering in response to the man’s question. A question lingering since the moment she had laid eyes on him. “What happened to your eyes?” She inquired, head tilted slightly as she inspected the darkness more thoroughly before Rikishinto interfered. “You’re being intrusive, I asked you to tone it down.

Father, please fo-“ As he spoke his words were almost instantaneously interrupted with an outburst from the girl. “Father?! But, aren’t you- I don’t get it.” This was definitely starting to feel like a mistake, especially for Rikishinto as he tried to salvage the interaction. “It is a title. The man is not my father, now, calm down. Your manners are lacking today.” The machine turned his eyes upon the priest, noticing the odd eye color as well, yet not being so open about it. “We were looking to learn about a religion that differs from ours, to experience different points of view. Would you be able to provide some insight regarding the teachings of this church?

Tamiya rose her brow at the woman's bow. "Ah, you're funny." She was about to leave as the man chimed in, a pleading look on her face. She smiled understandingly as she waited for him to finish. "C'mon, I have to. I know my way around here pretty well if I do say so myself." She pointed over the buildings to their left. "There's a pretty nice store over there. It's fairly cheap, too. You'll notice it, they always have sale signs in the window. As for a job, I would say just look online or at the local restaurants. Anyways, I would love to help you, but I should get going. Here's my phone number if you ever need me." She pulled out a small sheet of paper, scribbling her phone number and signing it with her name and a smiley face.
She walked off with a cheery smile, waving back at the pair. That girl's boyfriend is really cute. Seems like a good actor too... Tamiya was knocked out of her thoughts as she crashed into someone. She fell back, looking back up to see that the person had gone. Whipping her head around, she saw someone striding away angrily. "Sorry miss..?" She called after her to no response. Having forgotten about the library, she brushed herself off and headed home.

faye barnes, candlewick
Faye stormed down a busy street towards her apartment, glaring at a younger girl who happened to stumble into her. Sometimes I wonder why someone hasn't committed genocide yet. She plowed on, pushing anybody who happened to get in her way. She ran up the rusty fire escape to climb through her window, rolling across the plush rug she landed on. Faye was conscious of her appearance, and surely was a sight with her disheveled ponytail and ripped, soaking dress. She cursed loudly as she realized her heels were probably floating somewhere in the ocean now and so was her phone.
She changed into a small romper, taking her hair down. A loud knock echoed through her apartment. Still seething, Faye pinned a pleasant smile on her face and opened to see her neighbor. Damn Melissa. Stay out of my fucking business, would ya? "Ah, good afternoon!" She chirped, appearing innocent and gentle. She jumped back to the wall as normally mild-mannered Melissa stormed in, glaring at Faye. "So, would you like to explain why I saw a diamond necklace that was stolen a few months on your table? Do you even have a job? You left the door open, by the way." Faye flushed up, slowly peering down to where the necklace in question was resting across her collarbone.
Melissa followed her line of sight, flinging her head back up. She stared at her, mouth open and brows furrowed. Suddenly, she lunged forward, forcefully slapping her. Faye stepped back, thinking about the flares of red that were playing across where Melissa had impacted. She had been bothering Faye for months, always curious to where she was going and what she was doing. In that moment, something snapped inside Faye. She rose her hand to her face, dragging her acrylics down her cheek as she gazed at the pure terror on Melissa's face.
Faye smiled dangerously, parting her lips. She closed the small distance between them, kicking the door closed. "Bye bye sweetie."

A few minutes later, Faye stood in front of her work with horror gleaming in her eyes. She did this sometimes; She would snap and get irrational, but she couldn't afford that anymore. Melissa sat unconscious in her bathtub, hands tied up with a thick rope connected to the metal bar that usually held shower curtains up. Faye rubbed her eyes, groaning internally. Now, what does one do with a hostage?

"Phone... number?" Christina muttered to herself as the girl began to wander off. She looked at the small piece of paper closely. It had a series of numbers on it and ended with a small, overly simplified picture of a happy human face. Christina looked up to see the girl waving her hand at them, and after looking at her own hand for a minute, Christina waved back for a moment before turning towards the strange man-she really needed to ask him about his name.

"Phone number..." she repeated as she looked at the paper. Then, with a curious expression, she looked him straight in the eyes and showed him the paper. "What's a phone number?" Christina had already gotten distracted and did not notice the girl get bumped into.

Naku thought for a moment at how to answer the question. “Remember the thin rectangular item the girl we just talked to had? The one she took the pictures with,”he tried to be as clear as possible. “That’s called a phone. Each phone can be contacted by a special number,”he replied pointing to the phone number the girl had just gave them. “To contact a phone you must posses a phone yourself,”he placed his hands into his front pockets which seemed too small to be real. Why were girl jeans so weird? “Phones allow you to talk to the person no matter where they are at,”he decided he didn’t want to get into how WiFi worked at the moment.

He started walking in the direction of the library again to signal to the other that they should walk and talk. Hopefully the computers at the library could answer the questions the blonde girl had better than him. He wasn’t exactly an expert. Or well he could be, who even knows?

Both Coal and Rem sat in the chairs in front of Ross' desk. Rem shifted his eyes to Coal, who seemed more annoyed that they were even there. For Coal it didn't seem like a big deal, but Ross was making it into one.

"It was just two guys." Coal complained.
Ross narrowed her eyes at this. "Two guys that we have no idea as to why they had attacked you in the first pace." She pointed out.
"Rem was there." Coal sat up in his chair and pointed to Rem.
"Yeah but they were targeting you... not me." Rem stated.

Coal narrowed his eyes at Rem. Thinking about how he should have smacked his coffee in his face and not on the ground.

Ross let out a small breath through her nose as she watched the two. All of them have been a bit on the edge. Their last job went smoothly, but there were a few things they didn't see coming. Even before that last job... She could feel the tension in the room and needed to solve it. She couldn't have her children fighting at a time like this... She also didn't need her Vanguard being sniped either.

"Why don't you both take a break for a while." She told them.
"You're benching us?" Coal questioned rather quickly.
Rem seemed to be on the same page as Coal now. "You can't bench us." He stated.

Ross looked to both of them casually. She cleared her throat a bit as she tried to place her words right. "It's just a small break for now." she stated.
"You can't be serious?" Coal stood up and placed his hands on her desk. "It was two guys Ross... Two." Coal held up two fingers. "And it's not like I couldn't handle them..." Coal clenched his jaw.

Rem rolled his eyes as he stood up. "This is bullshit." He stated as he started to leave the room.
"You will get that taken care of." Ross called out to him as he reached the door.
"Yeah, yeah." Rem waved it off. He would go and get his arm taken care of... But not because Ross told him to. He wasn't even the problem but he was being looked at as if he was. Coal was tank when it came to their powers. He could see why Ross was so mad, but he also knew that Coal could indeed handle himself.

Coal watched as Ross let her attention fall back to him. "I think we're done here." Ross told him.
"I think we're not done." Coal stated.
Ross locked eyes with Coal at this point. "Someone is targeting you... What happens when they use your weakness to their advantage?" She asked frowning her brows a bit. "What happens when we get attacked during a mission and you go down?" she added as she slowly stood from her chair. "Edith is strong... But she is not Vanguard strong." Ross' tone of voice was getting pretty stern at this point.

Ross shook her head and rolled her eyes, "If you don't want to be benched then we have to make sure you are protected." Ross told him.

Coal didn't like where this was going. "I can protect myself."

Ross looked back to him. "Like you did at the facility?" she asked crossing her arms over her chest.
Coal could feel his blood boiling. Not just from her comment... But from faint memories trying to make their way into his mind. "That was different." Coal hushed.
"Different how?" Ross asked.

Coal shook his head as he fell quiet. That was completely different and she knew it... But that didn't stop her from using it against him.
Coal gulped a bit trying to push those thoughts back away as he tried to stay on topic. Ross wasn't going to let this go and she wouldn't give up unless she got her way.

Coal went to leave the room but stopped when Ross' words broke the silence in the room. "A bodyguard." She watched him closely.

"A what?" Coal couldn't believe what she had just suggested, but she wasn't really suggesting anything.
"You don't want to be benched... So I'm going to assign a bodyguard to you." She placed her foot down. She watched as Coal rolled his eyes and left her office. She finally let out a breath she had been holding in.

She felt her teeth clench together as she thought about someone targeting her children. She wouldn't show her true feelings to them, but her chest was full of rage and fire. She wanted to know who... Who was out to harm them and why.

Ross walked over to her window and looked out at the city. She would get her answers and she would also take out the one responsible for trying to harm them.

Later that evening..........

Throughout the rest of the day, Ross had found herself going through many of files. None in which she actually liked. Even the one she had picked... She still wasn't a fan of.

But she needed a bodyguard on Coal before another attack could happen. She heard from the men driving Rem and Coal back to headquarters that they had to lose someone following them. She could have just had normal bodyguards watching over Coal, but she needed someone with powers like them. An extra ears and eyes that wasn't afraid to take a bullet if needed.

She had come across a girl named Katie Cutter. Ross wasn't sure about the idea of this Katie Cutter, but she needed something for the time being, until something better came along. She had her connections reach out to the woman and hoped she would be arriving soon. Ross was not fond of lateness. Ross sat in her office looking over their next target. Another facility on the out skirts of the city. Her eyes trailing over the information she had gotten from her network she had to glance at the time. Katie should be arriving any moment now. If she was late, even by one second, Ross would just find someone else.

Christina, The Good Knight
“Remember the thin rectangular item the girl we just talked to had?" He started. "The one she took the pictures with.” Christina thought for a moment before nodding towards him. “That’s called a phone. Each phone can be contacted by a special number. To contact a phone you must posses a phone yourself.” He put his hands in his pockets and continued to walk. “Phones allow you to talk to the person no matter where they are at,” he finished.

Christina quickly followed, looking at the paper again as she did so. "So... I should keep this. Okay." She slipped it into her pocket and matched his steps. As they continued there walk, various objects around them caught her gaze. She saw a strange red ball connected to a string that was being led by a child. It was like a round kite. She noticed many variations of the strange metal carriages without horses, and she knew they transported people because she saw people getting into them and leaving many times. These were only two of the many strange sights she found herself distracted by.

Katie Cutter
She sat in a standard black vehicle with tinted windows, on a trip through grey city. She'd been on many trips like this one. But this one also reeked with something that was a little less common-it felt new. Normally, people contacted her through Hook. That was how she usually got her jobs, it was how she paid rent. But this... this 'Ross' had found Katie on her own. This person didn't want any hoops. They sought out Katie of her own accord and decided to bring Katie in. That could mean any number of things. But all she knew for certain was that this would be interesting, at the very least.

Finally, the vehicle pulled into a garage. She followed the men who offered to lead her to their boss, and she pulled out her phone to check the time. 10 minutes early. Crap. Had she been too punctual?

Finally, she reached a door. Her escorts motioned towards it and she calmly knocked, waited for a moment, then walked in. A strange woman was in the room, most certainly the Ross she'd heard about. She didn't look too old, but the wisdom in her eyes made Katie think she could be someone's grandma. Someone's weird, goth grandma.

"Katie Cutter, reporting for duty."

Ross looked up from her computer screen when she heard the knock at the door, her eyes swiftly glanced to the time and a small smirk caressed the corners of her lips. She watched as Katie made her way into the office and Ross motioned to one of the two chairs in front of her desk. "Thank you for coming, Miss Katie." Ross stated in a gentle voice.

Ross was a bit impressed that the woman before her had arrived a lot sooner than she had expected. "I'm sure you have many questions as to why you are here." Ross started. Once Katie neared her desk Ross felt the erg to be a gracious hostess. "Would you like anything to drink?" She asked as she watched the younger woman.

Weather or not Katie asked for something or declined the small gesture, Ross continued with why the sword master was even here.

"I'm in need of a body guard." She tilted her head a bit as a questionable look came to her eyes. "Well, not me per-say." Ross had to admit.

Ross looked Katie dead in the eyes. She needed to know if she could even trust Katie with such information. They were the Shadows, and the Shadows needed to stay hidden. Especially their secrets. Ross had done a lot of work to get where she was now, she couldn't have some girl mess up her empire by blabbing to the world as to whom the Shadows really were. Not to mention half of them weren't even legal age just yet.

"One of my children has a bit of a target on his back." She continued. "I know he is more than capable of handling such things, but I can't have that target interfere with our work here." She told Katie.

"I'm in need of a body guard."

Katie's eyes immediately widened. That was new. Normally, when people sought out an assassin, they wanted someone dead-not the opposite. This was certainly new. But not in a bad way. Ross officially had Katie's full attention.

"Well, not me per-say." Ross took a long moment and looked Katie straight in the eyes. Katie was used to that kind of treatment. Her gaze didn't waver or flicker, she held it. In sensitive matters, employers were never eager to give up info of their crimes. But once again, it wasn't Katie's job to stick her nose in the little details. She did, however, want at least a hint at what kind of people scared this woman enough to make her hire a world class assassin as a bodyguard.

"One of my children has a bit of a target on his back." So she has kids? How old was this woman? She looked around... thirty? No, those eyes were not the eyes of a thirty year old. She had to have had some absolute monster of a plastic surgeon. Then again, the best plastic surgeons didn't leave people looking thirty. "I know he is more than capable of handling such things, but I can't have that target interfere with our work here." Katie listened, and once the woman was done speaking, Katie gave a small smile.

"All right," Katie said. "So who am I supposed to be guarding? You called him one of your children, so is he your son?"

Solomon
Sherwood Shores - God’s Kingdom Main Branch

Solomon blinked and the dull golden glow disappeared, having lasted only a brief second. Perhaps it had been a trick of the light, perhaps not. He smiled warmly at the child’s question and then again at the larger individual. The man was robotic, although that would only be immediately apparent to a trained eyes, which Solomon did not possess. Of course, he had his own methods to see what remained hidden and the concept of a sentient mechanical existence was intriguing to him. It wasn’t exactly pro-biblical in any sense, but at least he wasn’t infected and seemed to pursue an interest in religion. Solomon felt that he couldn’t turn such straight-faced curiosity away.

“Worry not my children. I welcome you into our house of God. I am Father William, and ‘Father is indeed an honorific indicating my position in this church. I am the Head Priest, or pastor.”

His smile never wavered as he stepped aside to usher them into the church. He took the lead, striding slowly and smoothly down the centre walkway between the two large masses of rows upon rows of pews. At any other time of the day, these benches would be filled with patrons looking to pledge their love to God and learn more on his heavenly teachings. The two newcomers had picked a fortuitous time to explore.

“Here we worship Christianity. I’m sure you’ve heard of this establishment around the city, we run many educational programs and scheduled sermons.”

He stopped at the altar and turned back to the two, hands clasped together graciously. The balcony above featured two figures cloaked in white, but they quickly retreated out of view. By now, the various groups of people left over from the previous sermon had left and soon it was just the three of them left at the altar.

“I’m sure you’ve noticed the rise of supernatural individuals as well. Sherwood Shores is notorious for it, I’m told. We also hold special sessions for such individuals...”

He trailed off and for a second his eyes rested on the smaller child, that familiar dull gold glow entering his eyes for the briefest moment before disappearing again.

Ross looked to Katie with a small smirk at the corners of her lips. Calling Coal her actual son.... "Think of it that way." She told Katie. "Cus if anything happens to him..." Ross locked eyes with her in a warning way. "I will destroy everything that you love." She let her tone of voice get dark as she leaned forward a bit.

Ross let that sit for a minute as she turned to her phone taking a quick glance at a text message. "If you will follow me." Ross forced a smile towards Katie as she headed to leave her office.

Ross lead Katie down the hall to it's end where a set of double doors were. The guards on either side opened up the doors for them to let them into a much bigger room. A large desk sat in the middle with a bunch of chairs around it, to the right looked like a small but use full kitchen, and to the left was a lounge area with a large tv on the wall and game systems. A large window covered the back wall letting in the light, and the view.

Ross looked around the room and smiled. Mostly because the first time walking into the room, you wouldn't really notice the furniture, or the money that put it there. The first thing one would notice was the five other people in the room. Teenagers really... Despite their actual age. Two were playing video games, while another was pulling snacks from the kitchen, while two sat at... More like on top of the large table. And the two on the table looked like they were gambling.

Ross walked over to the two playing video games and placed a hand on Coal's shoulder. "This is the one you will be watching over." She told her.
Coal grumbled as he kept his eyes on the tv. "I don't need a bodyguard Ross." Coal hissed.
"Ha-ha. You need a babysitter." Said the guy next to Coal. (Manic-Sebastian)

Ross gave a small smile in response to Katie's question. It wasn't a nice smile by any definition, but it was a smile. "Think of it that way. Cus if anything happens to him..." Her eyes narrowed and all traces of friendliness disappeared in an instant. "I will destroy everything you love."

So you'll kill me. Got it.

Katie simply gave a nod. It wasn't the first time someone had threatened to kill her and it wouldn't be the last. It was an occupational hazard of sorts. One that you just got used to after a while. "If you will follow me," Ross said with another smile as she left the office. Katie swiftly followed the woman down the hallway, eventually ending at a set of double doors opened by two guards. The room had a 5 people in it, two girls and three boys. And she was immediately struck with something that somehow she'd missed.

These were teenagers.

A bunch were playing video games, one was getting snacks... good god, were those two gambling? Note to self Katie. Never have kids.

They didn't even seem like the nice but awkward kind of teenager. Every one of them looked like the kind who'd bully some nerd and steal their lunch money. Katie was suddenly terrified of the situation she was in. Which one was she supposed to guard? Please tell me it's not the blue-eyed douche playing video games.

Ross walked over and calmly put her hand on the shoulder of the one Katie was thinking of. "This is the one you will be watching over." Fuck.

"I don't need a bodyguard Ross," he hissed. Dear god, he calls her by her first name? What kind of demon child am I in charge of here?

"Ha-ha," the one Coal was playing against laughed in a pretentious, punchable manner. "You need a babysitter." Guess it could be worse.

Katie didn't respond for a moment. How the ever-loving hell was she supposed to respond to this? She had nothing to relate to them with. When she asked for something different, this was not even slightly what she meant.

Okay, what was I like at his age? It had been a good ten years since then, but Katie remembered well enough. Aggressive, competitive... a bit of a bitch... this kid was confident he didn't need a bodyguard. So he was probably a fighter.

"What makes you think you don't need a bodyguard?" She asked him bluntly. "What can you do then?"

"That's a balloon,"Naku pointed out he noticed her eyeing the floating object. "It's just for decoration,"he commented. He decided hot air balloons would be a topic for another time. He had the urge to check his wrist for the time, but he knew he didn't have a watch. He gave a little sigh at the fact that he had all of these habits he never learned getting. He turned his attention away from himself to look around him.

"That's a car, as you probably guessed they're used for transportation,"he pointed to the vehicles that she was eyeing. He actually loved teaching others, and that's when he thought to add teacher to his long list of titles. Could someone really be all of the things he showed signs of? Naku knew people were well rounded but at this point he seemed to be gaining too many hobbies and little quirks of his own that all of the information he had on himself seemed pointless. It seemed like in his old life he was a jack of all trades. Maybe he was a spy? "I think we should turn here,"he added an emphasis on the word think as he pointed to the left.

Every one slowly stopped as they looked to Katie. Possibly a bit confused over her question, or the state of it. Coal frowned his brows a bit as he turned and looked from Katie to Ross. "Is she joking?" Coal asked.

Ross shrugged a little. "She still has yet to be informed of certain details." Ross told him.
"You mean the important details?" Bash asked as he turned to Ross as well. It seemed more like Bash was making a statement more than asking a question.

Ross shrugged, "She's not exactly on my payroll." Ross crossed her arms. "We still have yet to go over a few things." Ross added. She turned to Katie and motioned towards Coal, "That's if she still wants the job." Ross was giving Katie a chance out of the request basically. Katie now knew who she had to protect, but this was no walk in the park kind of job.

Coal shook his head lightly as he turned back to his video game. "I honestly think you are overreacting." Coal muttered.
Ross squinted her eyes a bit as she tilted her head at Coal. "someone tried to kill you this morning. Actually it was two, people trying to kill you." She told him as her tone of voice got serious.

"And I took care of it." Coal kept his eyes on the tv screen as his fingers moved quickly over the game controller.

"And what happens when they come back? This time with more men and more weapons?" She asked.
Coal let out a rough sigh, "I'll take care of it then, just like these last two." He told her.

Ross was not up to arguing as she turned to Katie, "the job is yours if you want it." she told her.
