Ayama Ayama I forgot to mention I agree with your character interactions with Liriel, Vaerith, and Varok.

@ everyone, I'm thinking (with the increased interest we're getting in the rp) of implementing round-based posting. It was between these strategies:

1. Turn Order System (Strict or Flexible)

  • Strict Turn Order: Each player posts in a set order. This prevents people from being skipped but can slow things down if someone is inactive.
  • Flexible Turn Order: Players post in a loose order, waiting for 1-2 others to reply before posting again. This keeps the story moving without leaving people behind.

2. Round-Based Posting

  • The GM (or designated leader) announces a round, and each player gets one post per round before the next begins.
  • Works well for structured roleplays (combat, missions, events).
  • Players who don’t post in a set time can be skipped to avoid stalling.

3. Freeform with Activity Rules

  • Players can post freely but must avoid double-posting until at least one or two others have responded.
  • Encourages organic interactions but requires communication to avoid spam.

4. Ping or Tag System

  • Players tag those they are interacting with, letting them know it’s their turn.
  • Good for roleplays where players split into small groups or subplots.

5. GM/Narrator-Directed Turns

  • A GM dictates pacing, dropping updates or scene shifts after a set number of posts.
  • Useful for structured story-driven RPs.

6. Post Skipping & Time Limits

  • If a player is inactive for too long (e.g., 24-48 hours), their turn is skipped or NPC’d.
  • Encourages responsiveness without locking people out.
Thoughts?

Round-based Format
Okay ya'll we will be following the following set of rules for the rp going forward given that we have more people now:

Round-Based Posting

A round-based system keeps posts organized in collaborative storytelling while ensuring no one is left behind. It works best for group scenes such as meetings, battles, events, or moments when all characters are in the same setting.

1. Structuring Rounds

🔹 How a Round Works

  • A round starts when the GM (me) posts a scene update.
  • Each player posts once within that round, responding to previous events and adding their character’s reaction.
  • The round ends when everyone has posted (or when a set time limit passes).
  • The GM (me) posts an update, marking the start of the next round.

🔹 Post Order

  • Loose Order → Players post in any order but must wait for everyone before posting again.

2. Keeping Pacing Smooth

🕒 Time Limits for Rounds

  • 24-72 hour soft cap: If someone hasn’t posted within this timeframe, the round progresses without them.
  • If a player goes inactive, they can either:
    • Be skipped for the round.
    • Have their character “idle” (e.g., standing back, lost in thought, etc.).
    • Give permission for the GM or another player to write a minor reaction for them.

⏩ What If Someone Posts Late?

  • If they missed a round but want to rejoin, they can do a catch-up post summarizing their character’s reaction.
  • If their absence affects the story, the GM can adjust the scene slightly to acknowledge their presence.

3. Collaborative Posting in Rounds

🔄 Encouraging Interaction

  • Players should acknowledge at least one other character in their post to keep the scene moving.
  • Avoid monologues—leave space for responses or reactions from others.
  • If an action affects another character (e.g., throwing a drink at them), don’t assume success—allow the other player to respond.

✍️ Using “Fluid Actions” Instead of Hard Results

Instead of writing:

John swings his sword, slashing the bandit’s arm and sending them reeling. Try: John swings his sword toward the bandit, aiming for their arm, ready to follow up if the strike lands.
This gives the other player (or the GM) a chance to decide the outcome.

4. GM (Me)

  • The GM (me) posts at the end of every round to:
    • Acknowledge what happened.
    • Introduce new obstacles, reveals, or twists.
    • Push the scene forward.
GM Post – End of Round 1:
The tension in the council chamber thickens as the Queen rises from her throne, her gaze sweeping across the gathered nobles. "You speak of treason," she murmurs, her tone sharp. "Do you have proof?"
(Round 2 begins – Characters may now respond.)

5. Handling Side Conversations & Small Interactions

  • If two characters are in an extended conversation, they can:
    • Do a collab post (write it together via DMs and post it as one).

i have never done rounds like this before so it might take me some time to get used to it :)

to make sure i understand, our conversation with liriel varok and aila would be a collab in dm?

Hey yall I’m making it so that only the Duskforged can have multiple hybrids/varients. All other species/races cannot have variants. For example, Aetherborn and Sirens cannot have a child. But Eldrin and Duskforged, humans and Duskforged, and traditional Gaelvari (gnomes/dwarves) and Duskforged can.

Oh but Skarn and Duskforged or any of the other species/races cannot.

Ah, yes. Chronic Create-a-Character-Itis. I know it well. :D

lol, I added that little piece of information because someone wanted to join with demi-Duskforged characters and it made sense to me.

Oooooh. :D It's good you're so accommodating! :D More peeps! YAY!

oh interesting there are other Wingless then?
Are you talking about the lore update? No I was just going to have Aila be the only one I may have mistyped in my rush to pump out more lore lol

all good! i was just like oh ill have to change how ive been writing her a bit

the point about the iridescent wings meaning more connection to magic is interesting since i did say aila has that quality so it's almost like she's supposed to be connected to the magic but something happened

also i really like how you've created so many groups who all believe they're right, it will be interesting to find out the truth

Yes I like the added complexity that brings.

And thanks I think it also gives more depth to characters and the rp when they all have different beliefs
