But you are running the game, so you should be the one making "important events" happen, like speeches from the headmaster or time skips. At least that's what most of us are expecting.

Um okay. Well, I don't exactly see myself as someone to make all the decisions alone
I don't want to just order everybody around and make skips for everybody while half of the characters is still in the middle of something c:
If anybody is finished with some inplay situation, you may certainly do a time skip for you own char, and if everyone else is also finished, they can also skip to the next point.
How I see it (and I think I speak for most of us here) a time skip is the end of one scene and the beginning of another. It is a single event that takes a scattered group and gathers them at a new starting point. It's purpose is to prevent a story from stagnating and to keep the group together. Having everyone do their own time skips individually would hurt this goal. The faster players would rush ahead of everyone, the slower players would fall further and further behind, and players locked in conversation would never stop. So there needs to be a single post that affects everyone at the same time. Once everyone (or the vast majority) has agreed that it's time for a skip there needs to be one person who then closes out the scene and opens the new one, that someone being you: the GM.
I will admit, learning that the roleplay is lacking a GM has me a touch worried about how the plot will be progressed, and any manner of in-character challenges (i.e. combat, classes, even card games), are going to be resolved in a fair and agreeable manner, particularly with a group this large. I am hesitant to post at this point without some structure being put together. That would be very lovely indeed :'D Is everyone rather busy at the moment or what is the matter? o:

Um well, fairness is certainly an important point, but I am not sure why exactly a single person should be ordering everyone around to achieve this goal. I was kind of expecting such situations to be discussed by the players in question (e.g. in combat class, if two of our chars have a duel, the players quickly talk to each other here in OOC or in a private conversation if one of them is supposed to clearly win). Of course, I think most of our chars are somewhat evenly matched (except maybe some few who have been described in the char sheet to be less experienced in combat), so in such fights, I think a very close outcome would be realistic either way, i.e. even if one of the chars is "defeated", it should not exactly be an utter destruction and both chars should be close to their aura limits (:
How exactly did you imagine such situations being solved by a GM? o: I am actually wondering; as I said, I don't have experience with GM roleplays. Is it common for the GM to just decide who wins and who loses?
For me a GM is basically just supposed to have the last word in a game like this. He’s the president while the players are congress. The players say “let’s do this", the GM makes it happen. The players can’t agree on something, the GM makes the decision for them.
If the game has a story then the GM makes sure that the plot happens. If there is no story, then the GM’s basically a glorified babysitter.
I'm waiting for PixelSymphony to respond so that the convo can continue between Sable and Sumi personally. Little hard to post when the conversation isn't moving forward xD
My apologies on that, I'd been holding off, hoping for a resolution to this before I continued.
