Ravena could faintly hear a young voice calling out. "Help!" It shouted. Over and over, it cried. Despite this, though, Ravena couldn't bring herself to open her eyes. I wonder who that is, she thought deep in her subconscious. Why do they need help? Is something wrong? She wondered, but her world refused to light back up. The only images she could see were formed from her own imagination, and right now, those physiques just so happened to be her parents. "Don't leave me!" Ravena called out to them in the dream. "Please, don't let them take me! Don't you want me? I promise I'll never use my powers again, I swear!" She cried with all her might, but their shadows just walked away from her, leaving her behind. She ran and ran for them, but no matter how far she extended her hand out, she couldn't reach them. Soon, their figures disappeared, and she was left there in the pitch black darkness. "I guess not.." She answered her own question, feeling the tears well up in her eyes. "Why don't you want me? Am I some kind of freak of nature? This isn't fair!" She cried in the dream, covering her face in her smooth hands.

Soon, she returned her hands to her thighs, and her eyes widened in horror as she turned them over and stared. They were covered in
blood. "W-What is this?!" Ravena shouted, her voice cracking. It was then that all of the guards surrounded her, and charged at her all at once. "This is for our fallen comrades!" They shouted their battle cry. Before they could reach her, Ravena screamed, and then her body jolted back to reality. She was being shaken, and though she was awake, her body wasn't quite cooperating with her yet. "Is she okay?" "Please help her!" "Wake up, wake up! Please, wake up!" "Come on, wake up!" She heard people shouting, but mainly a young boyish voice was calling out to her. Soon enough, Ravena's eyes opened, and she saw the young boy from before that she saved from that guard. "What.. What are you doing? I.. I told you.. To get away from here.." She spoke, her voice still plagued with drowsiness. Despite that, however, she managed to sit up. Immediately, some blood dripped down from her nose. She wiped it away with an irritated sigh. I really overdid it, huh? She thought as she stood up.

"I'm alright," she spoke to the boy before her, smiling down warmly upon him. She offered him her hand as she looked over towards the other girl. Ravena couldn't help but notice she wasn't where she was when she passed out, so that meant these two must have moved her all on their own. "Thank you," she spoke to both of them, and then eyed the guards still on the scene. But, this isn't over yet.. She sighed, watching as her two pawns attacked the two remaining guards. They won't be able to finish them off, though. They seem a bit stronger than the rest, even though they are shaken up, she realized. With a shake of her head, she returned her attention to the boy in front of her. "I'm Ravena," she stated with a soothing smile. She didn't want him to be shaken up anymore - she just wanted to make sure the youngsters were alright. They didn't deserve to see such a gruesome scene. She looked to the other side of her and noticed another younger girl, and she showed her a reassuring smile as well. "I just passed out, is all," she stated in answer to her question.

"Now, let's get you guys out of here."

His mouth cracked open into a wide smile when Ravena came back to life. Guided by his instincts, his cold hand took hers and remained bolted to it as he raised himself to his feet. Feeling about as steady as a wet tea rag at the bottom of a sink, David looked up to Ravena for support. "I am David," he replied. He shot a mournful look into the room. So many dead people, so much blood. It was as if the very air had grown thinner and harder to breathe. "Is it over?" he muttered.

Yannie updated Runaways with a new update entry:

Update -->

Test One will be ending early, without the death of all the guards simply to reserve time and interest. Your characters will be allowed to eat and Andrew will speak on that day's events.
Additions:

Since nobody roomed together I will be pairing you off personally and forcing you to room with someone! Muahaha! Let me know if you have a request for who you want to be with. This does not mean you are guaranteed to be with them!

Uniforms! Everyone will get hot uniforms after the First Test, they...

Thalia looked around the room, disgusted. "Yeah, it's over..." She muttered to herself, already fed up with this place. Walking over to a guard on the ground and checking for a pulse, she straightened, shivering at how cold the man's dead body already was.

She clenched her fists in anger, really taking in the number of dead, then frowned at the sudden warmth in her palms. Looking down, she realized her hands were on fire.

"Oh come on, really?"

Thalia shook her arms up and down, trying to put the fire out, but it only made it worse. "Anyone have some water? i seem to have, ah, lit myself on fire..." She said, vigorously shaking her wrists.

Ariana's gaze darted about, then stopped on the food. She was hungry, but she chose to wait until some of the others had eaten, after all, she hadn't done anything to earn the feast. She tried to avoid looking at dead bodies, disliking blood.

(EDITED**)

Andrew let out a laugh, smirking at the girl who had caught flame, and clasped his hands together twice so that it echoed throughout the marble room.

"Guards!" He boomed, "Your job is done," the men stopped in their tracks, grunting as they dropped their weapons and hostages---- well, hostage. Those who were alive slowly filed out the room, bypassing the bodies and blood that littered the floor.

In the mean time, Andrew beamed. "What a swell way to start off your meal, I reckon!" He stepped forward. "You may feast!"

Emmie flinched as the guard stood up, expecting another attack, but instead he obeyed Andrew's order with a sigh, steadily keeping his eyes away from the blood and bodies.

Emmie certainly had lost her appetite in the battle, with the smell of blood heavy in the air, but was eerily relieved when a few custodians came in through the doors and from the kitchen.

As she inched towards the buffet table, not quite sure how to react to the sudden hault of the battle, Andrew spoke again.

"After you eat, you will immediately go to your rooms, lights out after an hour, or you will not want to see the consequences." Andrew waltzed across the Mess Hall, not concerned with those who had fainted or were in pain.

"You will be pleasantly surprised to see a new uniform on your bed, I hope it is to your liking." Andrew flashed his blinding smile, back pressed against the Mess Hall door.

"Enjoy!" He said, and took his leave.

Ryan doesn't do anything at first, simply stares at his hands, however he seems to relax a little when he's carried off howling. At least he isn't a murderer, not yet. He looks around at the others and leans against the wall, head in his hands. How did it get out of control so fast? Could he have stopped it? He stares at his shaking hand, then clenches it into a fist. He had to learn to control it or who knows what would happen. He stands up and walks over to Ravena, hands shaking. "H-Hey. You alright?" Ryan sounds a little scare,d although of himself or of the guards nobody can be sure. "I-I Almost killed a guy...oh god...what are we turning into?" He looks up around at the carnage. "I'm sorry...I don't mean to bother you guys or anything." He figures the kids should at least get his name. "I'm Ryan Lors." He looks at the table, not hungry at all. But he knows he really should eat. He ends up deciding to grab something to keep his strength up. He looks to Ravena. "I don't want to eat but we're going to have to. You hoping for anything in particular?" He laughs, something almost foreign after the events. "I'd kill for some pop or chocolate right now. It'd steady my nerves." he realizes what he said. "B-but not kill. Y-You know what I meant right?"

David quickly let go of Ravena's hand when a boy, about her age, with messy, dark, half-long hair walked over to them. His features displayed confidence, but as soon as the boy began to speak David realized that couldn't be further from the truth. In an odd way it strenghtened him to see a boy much older than himself equally affected by the battle.

No matter how low his appetite was, no matter how much he wanted to curl up in a corner and shut the world out, David knew that he couldn't go to bed without combatting the rumble in his belly. There was one thing that had him smile, however faintly, they all had to go to bed at the same time. If mom could see me now, he thought.

Shaking himself from his considerations he wiped the smile off his face and dulled his expression into a look of seriousness well beyond his years. "I'm David," he introduced himself again. "I just hope the beds are nice." And with that, he set off towards the table, reminding himself with every step that he had to stow away something before turning in for the night.

Senna wandered the silent halls of the base wondering where the exit was. After the display she'd seen in the mess hall she started to fear the worst and regretted agreeing to be part of this project without asking more questions first. "This was a bad idea..." she muttered to herself before starting to chew on her bottom lip anxiously.

"We have to sleep here too?" Ariana mused softly. and there were uniforms. This was like... some nightmare school. With a small moan she went closer to the table and grabbed a plate then went down the table and grabbed what she wanted. some of her appetite had been lost however and she ended up taking a meager meal.

David put a measly meal on his plate and plumped down next to Ariana. Without turning to look at her he apologised, almost inaudibly, for his earlier outburst and introduced himself. "I don't want to stay here either," he whispered. He trained his eyes upon Ariana. "Uniforms aren't that bad though," he chewed on a potato, "I had them at my school too." School. He'd never thought he would long to be stuck in Arithmetics class with his classmates, but he did miss it. He missed all of it.

Ariana sat down, then looked up at David, though took a bite of some of the foot on her plate while he talked. Her voice was quiet and soft, and occasionally wavered as if she was nervous.

"It's fine, I wasn't being a real big help. And I'm Ariana by the way"

Then because she was shy, she looked back down at her plate, trying to avoid eye contact, though she was secretly grateful for someone her age to talk to.

He ate nothing. He looked like he always ate nothing the way his cheeks sagged in all black and blue, looking almost skeletal. Though, perhaps even looking as he did it was the most sane behavior there - several of the lab rats went about eating and sharing petty talk about this and about that while blood seemed to permeate every porous vessel it could abduct. And that smell nestled in well. Bred. Multiplied. Blood was all he could really smell anymore.

And they hadn't been here for very long.

Unfolding his long, bony legs from his chest like some grotesque origami, Murphy peered down the length of his table. No. The reality hadn't sunk in with any of them yet, he figured. Yet.

David let the silence that had fallen between them do most of the talking. Stabbing mindlessly at his food he managed to eat about half of it before he gave up. Nothing had tasted quite right and he looked around the table, seeking a distraction. When none presented itself he turned to Ariana again. "Did they take you from your parents as well? Mine think I am being detained at the police office for assault. I don't know why they did it, but they framed me." He shook his head. Not only was he stuck in this mad zoo, his parents, his whole hometown community, everyone who'd turned on the local news thought he was a criminal, a rotten apple beyond redemption. Nothing quite stung like that.

Ryan looks to Ravena after the kids have gone to eat.

"I guess I wasn't really much help huh...sorry for freaking out like that. It won't happen again" Although whether he means losing control or freaking out is something not even he knows the answer to. "C'mon." He nods towards the table. "We have to keep our strength up, we can't help these guys out if we're starving." He smiles. "It's like a big family dinner, if you don't hurry I bet someone will eat all the good things." Ryan seems to be changed by the experience, more determined yes, but also somewhat fragile. There's a look in his eye like he wants to help everyone but he needs a hand along himself.

Ravena's expression darkened as soon as Andrew entered the scene. "Why, I ought'a.." She trailed off in a soft yet extremely bitter tone. How could that bastard put these innocent children through this? So what if we have some powers! We're still human! She thought furiously. She looked towards all the people talking to her, noticing that while some seemed to take it like she did, while others were pretty shaken up. "I'm alright, and you all will be too," she spoke as she made her way near the table. "Just so you know, I'm not eating because you told me to, nor because I think I deserve it for using my powers on people," she spoke to Andrew before he disappeared. "I'm doing it because I'm freakin' starving," she practically growled at him, severely P.O. because of what he just pulled. She could tell he wasn't done either, which only made her want to smack him across his sickeningly handsome face. If anyone, Ravena chose to be strong for the people shaken up beside her. She wasn't going to let this man dominate them. As he left the scene, Ravena pursed her lips together angrily. "I'll play his little games, but not for long," she stated, coming to that resolve only because she knew she could be of use. She had decent control of her powers, which meant she could use them to protect others more often and in an accurate manner.

"I get the feeling they want to use us as human weapons of sheer destruction," Ravena began as she sat down at the table, putting some food on her plate and munching at it slowly. "I really don't want him targeting you guys, but it seems like we're all involved," she spoke, sitting on the other side of David. She gave his head a little ruffle as she listened to him and the girl, who introduced herself as Ariana, speak to one another. "They took us all away from our parents, but I honestly don't think mine cared," Ravena admitted, though she soon regretted saying it at all. It brought up bitter memories, and she was slowly recollecting what happened the day she lost control of her powers. The closer she got to remembering, the closer she got to understanding how she managed it. She felt so overwhelmed.. But, it was more than that. Something unleashed that wave - something she hadn't yet unlocked within her. She didn't really want to remember, because that would just give Andrew another thing to want to use her for. She could imagine it now; he'd place her in the middle of a battlefield, and she'd unleash hell on them. They wouldn't even know what hit them as their entire minds and hearts were wiped completely. Just the though thought of it made her want to puke up the food she was eating.

Screw them, she thought to herself bitterly. All of them.

Soon, Ravena was knocked out of her negative trance when she heard Ryan joking about all this being like a family dinner. With that new thought in mind, she looked over towards everyone present.
"It kind of is," she responded, and soon her expression, which was once briefly twisted with hatred, was now soft and warm. One could even deem it damn near angelic. "It's really nice," she began with a sweet smile. "I've never had siblings before, and now.. It's like I have a whole bunch," she let out, for the first time, a legitimate laugh. It floated through the air like a feather; lightly and gently, and almost sounded soothing to the ear.

"Thanks," she spoke to everyone, briefly revealing her actually soft and kind heart.

"I'm really glad I'm not alone in this."

Light.

Streams of fluorescent white slowly began to fill Ryker's vision as his eyelids spread apart. Ryker blinked continuously, trying to find his bering. 'What the hell happened?' Groaning, he stood. Well attempted to. Placing his hand under him as a brace when he stood up, Ryker tried to get his feet under him. This was a futile action however and Ryker's noodle like legs gave way. He crumpled back down to the floor. His head had the weight of a balloon.

Now looking straight up at the ceiling, Ryker began to recollect himself on the events that had occurred prior to his black out. The first man he had ever killed. He thought he should feel bad, but didn't he have to kill him? Ryker couldn't even imagine what the freaks here would do to him if he went against their wishes. His mind continued to wander. Not even him. What about his family? His little sister. A tear swelled up in the corner of his eye. The small static field that was building around him evaporated it before it fell down his face however.

He won't lie to himself and say using his powers in such a way wasn't exhilarating. This was usually something you only saw in movies or comics. He was living a fairy tale. Ryker's thoughts circled back to his actions. As an outsider looking in, one might say that his decision to throw a bolt of lightning bursting through that man's chest was too much. Or an emotionless attack. What they would have failed to realize, though, was: 'What would those guards have done to him had he not done anything?' Ryker knew they were fully prepared to kill him and the other kids. He simply decided to take it upon himself to kill the guards first.

Ryker knew from now on he would be looked at differently by the others. Not that he cared.

The older teen rolled his eyes at himself for the thought even crossing his mind of wanting to be accepted by these losers. It didn't matter what they thought. Honestly. The only thing that mattered was keeping the people at this facility happy. That way he can fly under the radar. Not get targeted by punishment. Either directly to him. Or indirectly.

Ryker's head regained it's weight again and he was able to sit up, his forearms resting on his knees. Twisting to the side, Ryker used the floor to push himself up and slowly began to make his way to the table of food. He had noticed, now, that the last surviving guards had left. Andrew as well. He assumed the other kids held out well enough. Ryker gave them a golf clap internally.

He spotted the man with a hole in his chest. Then the two he had instantly killed with his expulsion of energy. Ryker looked away quickly. They're dead. No need to dwell on it any longer. Nothing is going to change the fact.

Finally making it to the table of food, Ryker sat at one end. He simply wanted to eat his food, not become buddy-buddy and have happy go lucky conversation. He filled his plate and sat down, eating normally and ignoring the others at the table. Only overhearing their conversations.

David smiled at Ravena's uplifting words. With just those few simple words and that gesture of kindness she had earned a sliver of his trust. He replied in kind with bright eyes, momentarily lifting the haze that lingered over his face like a rainy cloud. With a jolt he realised he hadn't thanked her yet for saving his skin. “I am glad you're here,” he said, unable to formulate himself any differently without bringing himself to shame. He shot a glance at Ryker at the other end of the table and wondered if the boy had distanced himself on purpose.

The world narrowed itself into a cone, black at the sides and with only Ryker's face at the end of it. Blood was splattered across his face, electricity gulfed up and down his frame. He was smiling, blood was on his hands and he was smiling. Corpses rested at his feet, uncountable corpses, big and small, tall and short, their faces unrecognisable save for the fear in their eyes. Like an ill-tuned satellite TV his vision flickered until the real Ryker and the bloodied beast were one and the same.

With a slight gasp he returned to reality. The vision had ended and he felt dizzy as reality unfolded itself before his very eyes. “Why do you kill so much?” he asked Ryker as his eyes went back into soft focus. He hadn't meant to ask but it was out before he knew it.

"Why do you kill so much?"

A small voice spoke up. The words reached his ears in mid bite. He paused for a moment, it not registering immediately that the small voice was speaking to him. It was at this moment that he notice his tattered clothes. He was so focused to eat, he didn't realize the numerous holes in the sweatsuit he was wearing.

Ryker noticed the talking at the table had stopped and the words actually came to him as a complete thought. Of course they were asking him. Who else would they be talking to?

The eldest teen looked up from the roll that was about to enter his mouth. Ryker took a bite once he made eye contact with the one who directed the question to him. A younger boy. Ryker took the time to chew and swallow before responding. Never breaking eye contact with the kid.

"Why do I kill so much?" A tiny smirk grew on his face. A short chuckle followed before he continued. "I killed three guys. Out of twelve, I wouldn't call that
so much." Ryker would have killed more if he hadn't over charged himself. He continued, "Were you expecting the guards to walk up to you and hug you? Tell you everything is going to be alright? Tuck you in at night? Read you a bedtime story?" Ryker finally broke eye contact and scanned the room. Ryker answered his rhetorical question simply, "No. They weren't going to do that. They were here to kill you. Kill us." Ryker paused again before finishing his statement. "I simply did what I had to do. Had I not, I would be laying amongst them. Bleeding from my gut or throat." Ryker looked back to the younger kid. "Anything else you would like to question my motives about? Like why I'm eating this roll?"

The flight had been long and boring, especially as he had to stay awake the whole time to keep an eye on his sister. As expected, their parents had no issue with sending them away.

An easier life then, especially as they didn't need to deal with Inia then.

Not that they were the ones to deal with her. He was. That was the life of colt. The life of a twin brother.

There had been another girl in the plane too, someone who hadn't made a single try to start a conversation with them. She had just sat there, looking out the window. There was this innocence around her.

After the flight, their things were taken and sent to their rooms, while they were sent to a dining hall, where others all sat around a table. 3 new people came in. Two blondes, twins, with personalities as different as fire and ice, and one brunette, who barely had any height at all.

But that was where everything the group had in common ended. Colt bumped his sister with the shoulder and nodded to the table. "Let's go sit, and get some food?" He asked, his voice a whisper only.

The brunette on the other hand, Elisa, walked a little bit away, sitting down by the furtest end of the tables, where as few as possible would be sitting, and sat down, glancing nervously around.

(Yeah, I know it's short. @LittleWolfie )

Inia jolted awake as the jet touched down, memories flooding back in flashes. The fight, losing control and causing a scene, running from the mess she’d made, going home to find some suits sat in the lounge with her family, being told she was leaving…. and Colt. Colt her twin who’d refused to let her be taken for her ‘abilities’ alone and who’d given himself up for her. Right now she felt she didn’t deserve him at all after what she seemed to have dragged him into.

More memories crashed in. Getting in a car with their stuff already packed up, her kicking and screaming about it; the jet at the runway which they only just got her into with some quiet girl already in it, not that she paid attention as she tried to get away, tried to take Colt with her. And that was the last thing she remembered before she woke up… Had they drugged her? The answer was probably.

Looking around her as the door opened, her head lifting off Colt’s shoulder, and they were told to get out, Inia bolted, or went to at least. As she got up, one of the suits gripped her arm, clearly not trusting her since what happened before. Instead of allowing her to walk herself, they frogmarched her into the building and to some hall or other through a maze of corridors where they finally let go of her before turning and walking away.

Peering into the hall, she noticed it was a dining hall and there were a bunch of kids sat around a table eating. What the hell even was this place?!; she hadn’t paid attention earlier when the stupid suits were explaining.

Her head snapped round at her brother’s words. “I’m not hungry” Inia muttered for his ears only “Whatever they did to me is messing with my stomach but you should eat” she continued, her hand slipping into his comfortably.

Senna cautiously made her way down the halls scolding her self for not paying more attention she when she was show to her room. She’d managed to keep her nerves from taking over and remaining calm not wanting to cause a cave in like she’d done at home. “Just stay calm and everything will be fine…” she muttered to herself.

“Excuse me.” Senna nearly jumped out of her skin when the voice spoke up behind her. She hesitantly looked over her shoulder expecting a guard or something but instead was face with a brunet woman in scrubs. “Shit…” She thought to her self realizing shed been caught sneaking around and that probably wasn’t something freely done here. “I-“

“You must be with the new group” The woman didn’t sound angry or threatening which put Senna somewhat at ease. “I believe they were in the mess hall, did you get lost along the way?”Senna tensed slightly stepping back “Y-yes….” She muttered unconvincingly. Senna was never a good liar never really needed to when you don’t socialize with anyone. The lady either didn’t notice or didn’t care she just smiled slightly. “Hey, no need to be scared. I’m Nurse Jenna. I work here at the clinic. How about I take you back to the others?” Senna shook her head not wanting to go back to what ever hell was going on in there.

The nurse saw that the girl was probably scared, most likely the test that was being done. She didn’t know what kind of ability this girl had, nor did she want to risk being on the receiving end of it. She smiled hoping to calm the girl down. “You came late, correct? Trust me when I say it’s probably best if you go to the dinning hall and meet everyone else.”

“So I can be attacked like the other kids?!” Senna blurted out with out thinking. She started to feel the vibrations in the air as her anxiety started to get the better of her. The nurse sighed heavily. “You won’t be attacked I promise. You probably walked in on some kind of test, everyone is fine in there.” She reassured being at least honest on that part. If any of the kids were really hurt one of the nurses would have been called. “The test is over now so it’s safe to head back.”

Senna eyes the nurse wearily not really trusting her, there wasn’t whole lot to trust in this place but she was rather trapped with out knowing the way out, or who she could even go to if she got out. She had no idea what city was in or the right way to get home and by the time she figured that out they would probably catch her. Senna clenched her fists tightly. “Fine…” she muttered The nurse just smiled and nodded leading the girl back to the dinning hall reassuring her that things would be fine. The noises of fighting had stopped by the time they reached the hall which was only slightly comforting. The nurse opened the door and things were relatively normal. There was a bit of blood on the floor but the bodies of the guards were gone. All the other kids were sitting around and eating. “See?”Senna didn’t say anything it looked normal enough but it still didn’t sit well. “Go in, eat and socialize, they all have abilities too.” The nurse nudged senna inside before closing the door.

Senna was tempted to just ask to be taken back to her room but she knew she had to eat something. She didn’t feel hungry thanks to her nerves but she hadn’t eaten much aside from crackers since the day before. She shuffled over to the table where the other kids were talking not really sure what to do other then grab a bit of food on a plate. She only grabbed a few things before noting there weren’t any seats away from everyone since there were kids on both ends. “Wonderful…” she thought to herself and just picked a seat that was somewhat on its own.unfortunately it was also near and older boy who looked fairly annoyed. She glanced at him before looking down her her food and starting to nibble on one of the bread rolls.

Emmie had stared blindly in to space as the kids moved around her, robotically collecting their food. She saw people in the door way, unfamiliar faces, and frowned.

More freaks like her.

Emmie stood up as if her body was aching, walked to the table like an old woman. As she gathered her food and sat down, away from the others, her head pounded like a million gun shots firing.

Though she tried desperately to push the images away, she could only think of the blood, the bodies, and the future that lay ahead.

Emmie's mind woke up when she heard bickering from further down the table.

"Please, be quiet." She said, more to herself than anyone, and pressed the heel of her hands into her eyes, the lights seemed too bright.
