Runaways [Inactive]

Ryan gathers his courage and raises his hand. "I got a question." He says, growing less nervous. "Why are you collecting people like us? What do you have planned? And more importantly, what are you planning to do to us?" After saying all this, Ryan looks at the group. "We're all wondering it right? Why are we even here in the first place?" He looks to Ravena, who seems to have somehow become the group's leader. "It's something we all want to know right?"

On one hand, Ryan wants answers, on the other, he's partially terrified.

Ryker's eyes roll as the head of this institute gives his cute little speech. Multiple children speak up now. Some becoming more brave since the Rose girl spoke. Someone new approached from a nearby hallway and Ryker squinted at her. This new girl looked familiar somehow. He shrugged off the thought as Andrew told the the group where their rooms will be.

Ryker nodded and took this opportunity to leave. He pushed past some of the younger kids and found a room on the left side of the hall. Two beds. He hoped no one would try to share the room with him. If they did though... he might have to terrorize them with vicious shocks while they slept, until they decided to leave. Ryker visibly grinned and dropped his bag on the ground before climbing onto his bed. He laid on his back and crossed his legs at his ankles before beginning to stare at the ceiling.

The bed wasn't terrible. He's had worse. Ryker's hands were now tucked under his head. Door closed. He was finally alone. Perhaps he could get some sleep, the jetlag he was experiencing was terrible.

Slowly, his eyes drifted shut and he began to fall asleep.

"Why do you think you are here?" Andrew asked, honestly curious, but he didn't allow time for them to answer.

"I won't sugar coat it. You all are extraordinary, it's important that powers like this be harnessed and understood. These things will not only prevent more 'accidents'," he paused to brush a fallen hair from his eyes "but will widen the scope of other scientists and strengthen the military enormously."

Emmie had entertained herself while he spoke by creating small birds in the palm of her hand.

"So we're basically your lab rats?" She said this in a way that was so sweet, you wouldn't think she was insulting the company. Her eyes didn't leave the tiny bird in her hand.

Andrew sighed but continued to smile. "It's a research facility, so, yes, honestly." He dismissed the conversation with step toward the direction of the elevator. "Please, I advise you unpack now. Tardiness really perturbs me." And with that, he stepped into the elevator with a few quick strives, giving a slight wave as he headed down.

David only dared to breathe again when Andrew was gone. At first he'd been startled to see the flower petals and birds that the young girl spawned but he soon realized they weren't real. He remained quiet as ever when Andrew explained why they were there, but inside, he was boiling. Had it all been a ploy? A conspiracy to get him into this facility? Why had they gone through so much effort to obtain him?

He bit his lip as everyone left for the rooms. The truth weighed him down and rendered him incapable of deciding who to turn to or where to go. To his left the girls trickled into their alloted rooms, to his right he saw the oldest boy disappear and slam the door shut. He decided to pick the room at the end of the hall and quietly closed the door behind him.

His jaw dropped as he stepped inside. The room was spacious and very well kept. Not a speck of dust could be seen anywhere. A bed stood in the corner, with fresh linnen on top of it. There were a few cabinets full of plain clothes in different sizes. To his amazement there was a bathroom, with shower and tub, too. For a military facility it all struck him as rather expensive.

He was even more suprised to find a rare edition of the batman comics on the nighstand next to his bed. He almost opened it to begin reading when he saw through the trickery. He refused to be seduced so easily. Scanning the room from the edge of his bed he found black bulbs in every corner of his room. Camera's, he was being monitored. He quickly averted his gaze and pretended not to notice.

He would play their game for now, and get an idea for the rules. Then, he'd turn the table and prove to them, to everyone, that he wasn't a criminal.

((Well, damn. Looks like I missed a bunch. & I don't have much to go off of.

xD Oh well~ I shall try to post something decent.))

Ravena rolled her eyes as the man, who introduced himself as Andrew Michaels, answered her questions. "So, you really do plan on treating us like your little tools," Ravena stated as she glared over at the man. She wasn't afraid to speak her mind, and she wasn't hesitant on expressing her unhappiness to be locked up in this place. With a sigh, she gracefully ran her fingers through her thick and smooth mane. You've got to be kidding me. I feel like I'm in some mental institution. Oh, no--no, this is more like a jail, she thought bitterly, her chocolate brown eyes looking towards everyone in the elevator. Some people looked at her, and seemed to enjoy that she spoke up. Some even appeared to be a little inspired by her bluntness, which surprised her a little. However, one girl frowned over at her--Emmie, was it?--and that made Ravena frown right back. She was going to compliment her skill of illusion, for she thought those flowers appearing after she sneezed to be cute, but she decided against it. Somehow, she got the feeling that she didn't like her from a first impression, and Ravena wasn't one to impose. Though, after she blushed from doing the illusion, Ravena shot her a sweet, reassuring smile, as if telling her she had nothing to be ashamed of.

As the girl referred to them all as lab rats in the man's eyes, Ravena couldn't help but laugh. She was right--so right that she couldn't deny it. Ravena was going to say the same exact thing, but she beat her to the punch. With a shrug, Ravena rolled her eyes and listened as the man continued to speak, and eventually he took his leave right back down the elevator. With a sarcastic smile, she waved back with a trickle of her fingers, and then glanced over at all of the people before her. Some people simply went off their rooms, unpacking quickly just like he had told them to. This irritated Ravena, but then again, what other choice did they all have? With another sigh, Ravena brought her things and made her way to a solitary room. She would prefer to have her own, because she didn't know what some of these people were capable of. She's heard of many different abilities, like being able to manipulate fire, move things with the mind, see the future--the last thing she wanted was to be burnt alive, wake up with a dresser on top of her, or wake up to another kid screaming from some vision they just got. Also, she didn't want to disturb anyone with her own night terrors. They visited her often, as well, since things went downhill.

"Guess I'll see you guys around?" Ravena spoke to the few who were still around her. With a small smile, she made her way to the left side where the girls were supposed to live. Ravena chose her room, which was much bigger and cleaner than the one she had back at home, but no matter how it looked... She still felt like she was being locked in some prison cell.
"This bites," she spoke with a sharp tongue as she began unpacking her things. She folded her clothes neatly and put them away, and afterwards, she allowed herself to lie down on the bed made before her. She rested one arm above her head, placing her other hand on top of her slender stomach. "How long are we going to be stuck here? What are they going to do to us?" She wondered aloud as she sighed. Deciding to kill time until Mr. Suit&Tie came back, she began to sing a song she had stuck in her head for a while. It was Roar by Katy Perry, even though her main style of music rested with alternative and rock. It's just one of those songs that's just so catchy you can't stop listening to it. Her voice resonated through the air as light and gentle as a feather, and she couldn't help but smile as she sung softly.

((*

* is her singing the song ~ I gave her Alex G's voice. c: ? Just imagine it a little higher pitched~))

When Andrew walked away, Emmie was more than relieved. Despite their current predicament, Emmie began to sing what sounded like a nursery rhyme. She skipped down the hall for the girls, peeking in each room to see one she liked. Her whistling stopped when she saw a room smack mack in the middle on the left side filled with different shades of cream and pink, matching her suitcases.

"What a coincidence," she said, tilting her head, her short curls bouncing, and proceeded to take a look at the marble bathroom and fancy furniture. A stuffed bunny was slumped against a vanity in the large bathroom, and Emmie summoned an illusion to make it move and hop around, laughing out loud.

Yannie updated Runaways with a new update entry:

Newbies in ANCHR!

ANCHR Representatives are always looking to recruit more of these "Runaways", which is why I am so open to new members.
Since the RP has progressed a little already, explain your plane flight briefly and head to the most closest (and most believable. ie. if you're new, you won't know how to get around ANCHR so make sure to acknowledge this) place where all the others are. The Secretary in the Waiting Room will always tell you where everyone is.

Some time had past by the time Ryker awoke. At least he had assumed. He had yet to see a damn clock in this building. He sat up and groaned, stretching rather violently. He relished in the feeling of his muscles tightening all over his body. After a short yawn, Ryker spun on his hips and placed them on the cold floor. Strange. He must have changed out his clothes in a half-slumber. He shrugged and stood, walking over to the nearby closet. Ryker spotted a camera on the wall to his right. 'They didn't do a good job of hiding this one.' He thought. A small smirk shot across his face and he placed his hand flat against the white brick wall.

Ryker focused his energy and ran a high voltage shock up the wall. The camera short circuited and exploded from inside it's cloudy black dome. Satisfied with himself, he returned to finding something to wear. The big wigs will prolly be down here to tear him a new one for destroying one of the cameras. Not that he cared.

Ryker found something that looked appealing. Black sweatpants and a gray sleeveless hoodie. He slid into them and stuffed his feet into the Nikes that had be set by his bed. The size? Perfect fit. Ryker nodded in contempt and placed his hands in his stomach pockets before turning and heading back out into the common area between the two dorms. Ryker sat at a computer and began toying with it. Repeatedly turning it on and off. This activity became oddly calming and he just leaned back, glancing around the empty room.

Emmie peeked out of her room after unpacking, knowing that she was supposed to go to the Mess Hall when she was done, but first she wanted to explore. In the common area of the North Wing she saw a boy toying with one of the high tech computers that lined the back wall.

Emmie smirked mischievously from the door frame of her room, and with a flick of her finger the computer became a ravenous monster. The screen parted in to razor sharp teeth and buzzing wires, the sleek keyboard flailed about like a tail.

"H-Huh? Wait..." Ariana whimpered, trying to pull herself up and hobble after the woman, except she failed at getting up and just sat a little awkwardly, staring at Beatrice. She couldn't go home now! Her father was still on the sidewalk, blood coming from the pointed-tip shovel wound. Her mother had ran away, probably back home to contact the police again.

~~~~~~~~~~~A day later~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ariana had a book bag over her shoulders and was dozing on the stairs at her house when a helicopter landed in the yard and she was escorted inside. She stumbled occasionally in her drowsiness, and didn't even bother to wave to her mother who was watching anxiously from the window. Ariana managed to get another short nap in on the helicopter and later was awoken and escorted inside. (Where should I be going?)
Ryker wasn't fully paying attention, however, the computer he had been messing with transformed into some kind of monster. Reacting quickly, he jumped up and aimed an open palm at the raging computer. The adrenaline rushing through his veins helped his energy focus and he unleashed a furious bolt of lightning at the demonic technology. It subsequently exploded.... Along with each and every computer on the line. The noise created was quite substantial.
After the computer was practically disintegrated, Ryker was able to calm down. He breathing returning to normal, but an obvious static field still fizzled about his body. His eyes then widened as he searched the area, checking to see if anyone else had seen what unfolded. In a way to reassure himself he wasn't crazy.
Soon, Ryker spotted a small girl. One of the younger kids that was with them on the elevator. She had a childish grin about her, so he assumed she had something to do with that. His head tilted to the side slightly before speaking to the girl. "Did you do that?! What the hell's wrong with you?!" His eyes squinted slightly and a crackle of electricity built up around his right hand. Which was now tightened into a fist. He continued, "You do not want to toy with me, girl..."
Emmie gasped as the entire wall of computers exploded, the wall now black and the hall filling with the smell of smoke. She immediately felt guilty as the illusion melted away, revealing the actual computer, now destroyed along with the others on the blackened desk.
"You do not want to mess with me, girl..." The boy had said, and she frowned at this, but her smile soon returned. She skipped her way to him, then around him, trailing a small finger on his back until she faced him again.
"Do not mess with me, boy," she spat, but her face remained oddly pleasant as she looked up at him. She tilted her head and began to sing again, soft and delicate, as red petals fell around the boy and on to his head and shoulders. She tugged on his hand and nodded to the elevator. "Let's go?"
Holly sat in the police station at the desk of a fat man who kept pinching the bridge of his nose.
"Listen, Holly, we have done this before. You know its simpler if you give us the name of the person who helped you."
Holly had been caught stealing, but this time they saw her before and after she changed.
"I didn't catch thier name. " she said
"Bullshit." He said quickly. She rolled her eyes. The station was a hot stuffy building with too many noises and she really just wanted to leave. Her wish was granted when a big burly black man in a shiny suit came up to the desk after pointing at holly.
"Holly knowls?" He asked. I nodded. "Yeah im gunna escort you home."
The officer was fiercly opposed to it but after a call to his superior he was forced to let her go.
When she got in the car she said, "whoo! Thank goodness. I dont think i could stand another second of that guy. So whats goin on? Am i in trouble again?"
"Quite the opposite ms. Knowls. Im taking you home so you can say goodbye, then were heading strait to the airport."
"What? Why?"
"You have been selected for a program called ANCHR. We know about your gift and we are going to help you hone it and use it for us."
"So wait- you guys are gunna take me away and turn me into a superhero? Like mystique?" At that the agent gave her a puzzled look. "You know? X-men? No?"
The drive passed with holly makimg these type of comments and him brushing them off. When they got to her home she got out alone, listened to her mom's worries and doubts for a half hour, tried to soothe them, and hugged her. Hollys dad stood in the backrood starkly, but said nothing but things like "she'll be fine!" And then the agent came back in and told them it was time to go and holly locked arms with the agent humorously and skipped to the car while he tried to shake her off. The drive to the airport was spent in silence. He dropped her off ont he taxi-way and urged her into a small biz-jet. She got on, and fiddled wit her thumbs for basically the entire flight. When she landed she landed in front of a nice looking professional building. She was greeted by a significantly smaller agent who smiled at her and said
"Your a little late to the party."
((I would just like to say I AM SOOOOO SORRY FOR BEING SO LATE. PLEASE DONT HATE ME!! and i dont want to be a burden but becuase im so late to the party i would be amazingly grateful if someone could be the agent who greets me so you could show me what the fuck is going on. Again, sorry, im new X))
Everyone dissipated into various rooms, so Thalia figured she should follow suit.
Quickly ducking into the closest empty room, she looked around the light blue walls. At least it wasn't like a prison cell or something.
Seeing the bed, she realized just how tired she was, and quickly collapsed, falling asleep almost instantly.
Bolting awake at the sound of something exploding, she practically fell off her bed. "What the-?" Rolling out of bed and landing on her feet, Thalia straightened and headed for the door. Peeking around the corner, she could see smoke coming from what looked like a computer, some dude and a girl talking nearby.
Slowly walking over to them, Thalia noticed all the computers she could see had been blasted to pieces, she assumed by one of the other people who'd been brought here.
"Uh... What happened? Well, never mind that, i can see what happened, but...?" She looked at the two teens questioningly.
It was awfully quiet. Normally, he would've loved to be locked away from anyone else but today, he hated it. Trapped like a mouse in a cage, surrounded by silent darkness closing in on him, hungry for his soul, hungry for his power. Not only had he been taken away from his parents, he'd been taken away under the premise that he was a violent thief who beat up old beggars with bricks.
Sitting on the edge of his bed, he stared down at his trembling fingers. It was impossible to keep them still, impossible to wrap his mind out what was happening to him. What if the news was true, but he simply didn't remember anymore?
Someone, somewhere, had hatched a scheme, and a deliberate one at that, to get him here. But why? Andrew's answer hadn't satiated his hunger for answers. There had to be another reason for those people to detain him and everyone else here. Were they scared of him and the others? Was this place a zoo for freaks like himself?
Not even the cool air inside his room could keep him calm now. He had nothing to unpack as he hadn't been allowed to take anything with him, he decided to head towards the corridor and look for a phone to call home, or maybe an exit. These people weren't cops, they couldn't stop him, right?
No sooner than he'd stepped outside of his room, a bang sounded, chased by the scent of burned computer chips. Pinching his nose, David spotted the source of the trouble. Little hair adorned the dark skin on his skull, instead, all the hair grew into his bushy, thick brows. The look on his face was almost intelligent as black smoke wafted into his face. David shook his head, he didn't need another vision to know that the boy would get into trouble for blowing up property of ANCHR.
A tan girl with freckles over her nose caught his attention as she asked the obvious. Her shimmering blue eyes captivated him, they turned into swirling pools, the color changed, the black of her pupil became a narrow slit surrounded by greens and yellows. A cat hissed in his ear, and the eye blinked lazily at him. As quick as the vision had appeared before his eyes, it ended. He hadn't asked for it, he hadn't even wanted to know anything about this girl's past, but he couldn't help himself.
Not quite sure if he'd heard wrong or if everyone else was just being slow, he dragged himself through the corridor and towards the elevator, he'd ask for directions towards the mess hall at the reception, unless he'd stumble upon an exit halfway through of course. The sooner he got out of this madhouse, the better, even if he hadn't got many other places to go.
"Your a little late to the party."
"Let me handle this Derek," Tye said as he stepped up towards the girl. He took her in with his eyes, even lowered his sunglasses which he insisted on wearing inside, and whistled. "Another natural eh?" He grinned, patted her on the shoulder and more or less pushed her along towards the elevator. "My apologies for my doltish colleagues, they're new, and so are you. It would be best to take you to the Mess Hall now, that's where everyone else will be."
Quite aware that none of these kids were safe to be around, Tye continued to yap on about the countless security systems installed into the building. "You won't be able to hurt a flie without us knowing," he assured her. "You're state property now, I recommend you get used to it soon." And with that, he guided her into the clandestine mess hall. It was completely empty, but then again, everyone still had ten seconds to arrive, or else...
Beginning this situation as extremely frustrated and annoyed, Ryker was just simply confused now. An eyebrow was involuntarily raised at the girl who was now raining petals on him. She grabbed his hand and her soft voice spoke, "Let's go." Ryker took a step back and yanked his hand from the girl. In the same moment, someone new from the group earlier walked up, asking about the computers. Ryker now notice his static had calmed down immediately after the girl had taken his hand. He shook off the thought. A small amount of static building up again when we began to dwell on the situation.
Ryker rolled his eyes and let out a huff of air before pushing past the illusion girl and second girl who had joined them. He spoke out in response to the question posed, "What does it matter to you?" His head shook side to side as he walked into the elevator, passing a younger boy as he also attempted to enter. He hurried to press the button for the Mess Hall. Letting to doors close before any of the others could join him. 'This place was total bullshit.' He was already tired of the kids here. He hadn't met them all, but he was sure they were all equally as weird. That Rose girl too.
Ryker had powers. That didn't mean he had to act like they did. He was as normal. Well as normal as one could be, that could launch bolts of lightning from his wrists. Ryker sighed as the doors opened and he walked out into the Mess Hall's pristine floor. He walked off to try to find where the line for food began.
Ravena let out a sigh as she finished her little song. We were supposed to head to the Mess Hall, weren't we? She thought back to what Mr. Michaels had said. With a roll of her chocolate brown eyes, she sat up in bed and ran her fingers through her extensive dark hair. I might as well, I suppose. I'm already done unpacking, she shrugged as she stood up and smoothed out any wrinkles that may have formed on her clothes. With that, she began on her way out of her room and towards the elevator. She could see one of the older guys from earlier, and he appeared to be in one hell of a bad mood. He even shut the elevator door before Ravena could get on board. "How rude," she stated as she made her way over to the stairs. She didn't want to wait for the elevator to return, and she was pretty quick on her feet to begin with. She made it all the way down to the Mess Hall floor soon after the elevator arrived itself.
She walked down the extravagant corridor, and there she noticed the guy who shut the elevator door on her.
"Thanks for that," she spoke sarcastically as she caught up with his pace. "Is that any way to treat a lady?" She teased with a smirk, though she could tell that the guy wasn't in a talking sort of mood. With a shrug, she turned her chocolate brown eyes straight ahead of her. As she entered the Mess Hall, however, she got a strange feeling that something was wrong. This all seems a little too nice, Ravena thought as she looked at the feast before them. The gates to the Mess Hall were shut, but there was already plenty of wonderful food placed upon the tables. They said they wanted to study our powers and learn more about us.. Does that mean they're going to be testing us? She wondered with slightly raised brows. I swear, I'm not going to let them turn me into some lab rat. Regardless of what they think, I'm human ,too.
((And now I shall wait for Yannie to initiate the first test~))
Ryan sees many rooms, not quite sure where to go. He picks one at random and almost drops his bag. It's a huge room, perhaps twice as big as the one he had back at home. He seems impressed, but he slowly realizes that its a bit unnerving, like someone is trying to buy his loyalty or something. He put his things away and changed into a brown hoodie and a pair of jeans. After changing, and seeing as he didn't really have anything else he left the room, he turns to leave the hall when he hears a soft singing noise, it shocks him to hear something so...normal in a world that's gone so completely wrong. He leans against the wall and after awhile starts singing softly. It's a passionate vocie coming quietly from his lips. Ryan's scared of maybe being experimented on, but maybe there's a chance he'll do alright...and that excites him. He takes the stairs up as the elevator is still on its way up and is still singing quietly to himself when he gets there
(Made it so he's still singing :D )
Andrew had made his way to his office before heading to the Mess Hall, just to make a few calls and check the news again, just in case.
He sat in the enormous marble room that seemed blinding from the glass ceiling. The evening sun poured in, hues of pinks and purples reflecting on the faces of the working cooks and custodians. Andrew order a buffet table be prepared, and was satisfied when he smelt the delicious aromas wafting from the kitchen on the far wall. Long, rectangular tables lined the mess hall horizontally, the huge buffet table sitting tauntingly on the other side.
The guards had arrived, men from the South Wing, the military wing. He wondered what level of skill the Drill Sergeant had sent up, and smiled absently as he contemplated the good show he would be witnessing when they would arrive:
The first Test.
"You have five seconds to fill that table, this place better be immaculate!" Andrew barked, adjusting the suit that was growing much to hot.
Rules:
  • You may have cool ass powers, but you CAN NOT kill all the guards in one...
Read the rest of this update entry...
Ryan gulps nervously as the guards start to enter the room, they look tough. And by the way things are going chances are more then one of them has powers. He looks to Ravena. "Hey! Want to team up? I do wind stuff...it works most of the time." He laughs and rubs his head sheepishly. "We'd do better together right?"
Ryan feels calmer then normal going into a fight, he's no stranger to them back at his school, albiet the rules are a bit different. He doesn't know Ravena's power, but he figures it's probably useful. He doesn't quite know all the details of whats going on, but teaming up with someone sounds like a good plan. Besides, Ravena seems confident for their current situation, and that's good enough for him.
Ravena looked over at the boy who entered the scene singing a familiar tune earlier. With a small smile, she nodded towards him. "Sure, I don't mind. Should we all work as a team?" she wondered aloud as she glanced towards all of the people around her. Ravena has known about her powers for a while, and she's even practiced on people. She's never used it in a suspenseful situation like this, but she had a feeling that if she could make eye contact, everything would go smoothly. Whether they were all bulked up or whether they were a little five year old - her powers usually worked just the same. She turned over towards the boy who spoke to her, and with a brief laugh, she realized she hadn't caught his name. "I introduced myself in front of everyone earlier, but I never caught any of your names," she stated with a shrug.
"Oh, but about my power,"
she began after taking in a deep breath. "It may sound a bit weird, but they call me a.. 'Push & Pull', was it?" She stated, but realized that wasn't really an accurate explanation. "I can manipulate people's memories and emotions," she spoke in a candid nature, smiling as if it was nothing. "I can do it without eye contact, but it works better when I do," she began as she stared at the guards before her. "If I can make one of them believe that they have to protect us, then it's one less guard we'll have to worry about. I don't know if I can do it to more than one, though," she stated as she ran her fingers through her silken dark mane. "I tend to feel faint or get nosebleeds when I push myself too far," she admitted reluctantly. However, if they were going to work together, they might as well know about her quirks.
Thalia shrugged and made her way downstairs, mostly unfazed by the boy's cold attitude. She recognized him from somewhere, but couldn't quite place it.
Another girl walked by, almost regal in looks, and quickly disappeared into the elevator when it came back up after the grumpy guy stormed into it, slamming (As much as one can slam automatic doors) the doors in her face.
Motioning to the now empty elevator, Thalia looked at the younger girl. "You coming? I thought i heard someone say we have to go to the mess hall or something. Any idea how to get there? 'Cause i got nothing."
Ryan nods
"Right...I should be able to blow them on their backs...that might make it so you have a clear shot at one of them." He seems suprised at the mention of his name. "Oh! Right. Sorry, my name is Ryan Lors." He sighs. "I'm new to manipulating wind, so I might not be able to control it very well, but I guess blowing them over wouldn't be too hard...right?" He laughs.
