Epiphany Epiphany if you have your dice handy? Could I get rolls for:

8D6
8D4
2d6
1d6 and
4d4, please?
(2nd-5th experience level P.P.E. and I.S.P., Gymnastics's S.D.C., and Running's S.D.C. and Speed.)

Also, I may have missed this (it's been a day in Real Life) - do Mega-damage creatures add S.D.C. from Skills to their M.D.C.?
Your results are:
37
21
6

14

Appreciate Sherwood Sherwood chiming in. In glancing over the Demi-God RCC description, I saw a note that sources of SDC add to their MDC, so if it's going to be true for one PC I figure it should be true for all PCs.

Anyone who is an MDC being is welcome to add SDC bonuses from sources like physical skills to their MDC totals.

All I can think of now is the immage of Erin Tarn in a hospital waiting room. A doctor enters, looking mostly confused.
“I’m sorry Ms. Tarn, but ___’s surgery was a failure.”

Tarn immediately looks worried, only for the doctor to pull several broken surgical knives out of his pockets.

And now I can’t stop laughing. It’s not even that funny.

Yeah, I guess magic would be the way to go for this.
Alternatively, you got the top surgery before accidental rift exposure turned you into an MDC being. ;)

I was considering having my character not really be aware of their heritage, thinking that they just are another oddity of the world with powers , and their mysterious father was also an oddity.

I am stuck at the moment determining the gender and look of this Demi-god, I may just have them go non-binary. It’s more of a matter of finding a good picture to use and inspire me for them.

Bah, I gotta go back to working.

Alternatively, Enki has visited Tolkeen before and apparently likes the city (and especially may be interested in the Techno-Wizardry they get up to in building up their city defenses). Perhaps your character grew up not knowing their identity but will have learned it in a chance meeting in 102 PA, back when there was some tension in the city but no one knew the invasion was going to happen. Might be interesting to have a conversation with a God of Magic about exactly what went catastrophically wrong in the ley line grid towards the end and how one might keep it from happening again...

Whatever's fun for you, of course.

I do like that idea, I will make sure to include it as part of their flashback journal/timeline

Wait- how the heck are they supposed to get top surgery if they can’t be cut? Shit, I didn’t think this through, did I.
Ha ha ha! I love it!

Psychic surgery is a thing too. =)

Of course, if/when your characters starting changing the future, it's possible that may change future events like when/if supernatural opposition turns up. ;)
That is precisely what I was thinking! Thanks for the answer!

You can just say everyone except for me. I can take it.
Esbilon Esbilon Hah! Ain't nobody held a squirt gun to your head and said, "You betta choose an S.D.C. character or I'ma soak you good!"

You can join the Mega-damage Club one way or the other! =) Seriously, I hope your character has hand to hand: Commando or some access to Automatic Dodge or your repairing and replacing armor might get expensive! =)

On another subject, do you have a nickname or do you mind being called Esby (sounds like "SB". Huh!) or what is your preference?

using the random name generator. Bilbo Lestat Drake. i have... some questions.
Hah! Alex, you are hilarious! =)

I picked a concept that I liked and built a character around it. That character happens to make a ton more sense as a (comparatively) baseline human.

I picked a name when I signed up for this site, I thought that'd have made my preference pretty clear.

Esbilon Esbilon I agree. What other race could fit a background like his?

Do forgive me and my joking around; it is not my intention to annoy you if I am. I am in a silly mood and just trying to share the fun but that doesn't mean it is to everyone's tastes. =)

From your perspective, it must be so. As you wish, Esbilon. =) If you don't mind my asking, what is an Esbilon to you? How did you come to use this as your name on RP Nation? =)

Edit: I have wondered about this for some time. I just keep forgetting to ask.

I hate to interfere with others having a good time, but I'm a bit concerned about the dynamic of three characters going way back and the rest being new associates. It can be very easy to feel on the outside.
Which reminds me, how far down the road did we get to satisfying this important concern? These were the last words that I saw (my post followed by Esbilon's):

For all I know, Esbilon Esbilon , your character might have been the one who got the party started in the first place? What if (my two favorite words in RP)... your CS Special Forces/Mind Melter (a great combination I have to say. Your sergeant to you: "You'll have to pit your brain against your enemy's!" You: "I GOT THIS!" 8D) maybe captured our characters? One by one? But then Eon's historian set your character straight with... gasp! ... knowledge and facts? Their conversation resulted in your not only freeing us, but joining us against something your character realized was Nazi-like all along?

Just throwing out ideas, really. =)

I need to figure out how my de-nazification will go, but it's not the kind of thing that's usually accomplished with facts and logic.

Where are we at here? Maybe it's best to have this figured out prior to play? =)

Epiphany Epiphany Oh! I almost forgot! Thank you for the die rolls you made for me earlier! =)

Also, Dann is making another one of their (I’m blanking on pronouns, sorry.) brilliant points. We should have some kind of charictar connection. Ellis is a war correspondent and anti-CS propagandist, who before the war accompanied Erin Tarn on a few trips to places, including some time in Atlantis. That’s the reason why I’ve put so many points into camera and broadcast skills.(they always have the perfect lighting.)

If any of y’all want past ties to them, feel free to spitball ideas!

You might check Esbilion's character sheet in the Character Sheet's thread. Looks like he's been filling it in.

That said, I know different characters are in different stages of completion. By all means, though, folks are welcome to start working out character connections. How you might have run into each other over the years, what relationship you might have with the others, etc.

Thanks for the idea!

Epiphany Epiphany Esbilon Esbilon Just tossing out ideas here.

Given the power levels of some of our characters, mine included, and that this character has Special Forces-level responsibilities, might it be more in line for him to have a Super SAMAS?

Concerning the timeline, how are we supposed to be an established party if this character is still loyal to the Coalition in the year 101 P.A.? Plus, he is at the height of loyalties the very next year. Wouldn't we be the last people on Earth he would want to be hanging with? Or maybe I missed something? (Time travel can be mind boggling sometimes!) =)

I think? that since we'd all have the memories of the eight years of hell we all went through, Epsilon's OC would find themself wanting to get away from the atrocities (that they now realize were evil) will soon be supporting if they follow the same path they did. we all (save dann's dragon seer) were warped by the rift, so we all know what goes down and we all are desperate to stop it, no matter who we have to work with.

Oh yes! Absolutely! When your characters come back, they're completely different people. I get that.

I am referring to the initial 101 P.A. when our characters were a team prior to the separation of Chan-Chan from the rest of the group? I'm trying to answer the question, "How did we form in the first place?" while following Pips's and Esbilon's solid concerns of not having 3 PCs in the party as old pals. Because, indeed, how would the others feel? Easily left out to paraphrase the concern.

So... how do we do both in a way that our GM and Players are satisfied with?

Speaking from Chan-Chan's perspective, she wants to know each and every PC in the party prior to their separation. She wants to be their friends. As an infant of her kind (only 20 years old which I think is only a couple of heartbeats long in draconic terms), Chan-Chan is the type of person who is likely to look up to each of the PCs for her own reasons. She wants to like them, feel like she belongs, etc.. But that is only half of her desire - she also wants everyone in the team to feel the same way!

So... I think if our team is to have a past together, some important questions arise (and I'm sure everyone here can think of more than these!):

1. How long has our team been together?

2. Whose idea was it to form the team in the first place?

3. Did we all join at one time or did it start with some of us before it wound up with all of us?

Stuff like that! What does everyone think? Epiphany Epiphany Esbilon Esbilon EmperorNorton1 EmperorNorton1 Eonivar Eonivar Psychie Psychie Sherwood Sherwood We have 1 opinion so far; what do the remaining 6 say? =)

I put in my background that Freya was operating in Mexico prior to the day that her sister sent her a call to help in the coming war and that's why she left vampire busting and went north.

Yeah! I remember that. Eonivar's character is a Tolkeen native - that's why they care about Tolkeen. What about the rest of us? What brought us to Tolkeen (or are others among us natives)?

I can see Reyna being a real driving force behind getting a team together. As a Cyber Knight in the middle of this war, she is trying to pull together as many allies as possible to try to make a difference.

Just to clarify my intent.

My only firm requirements were (A) everyone's PCs were there at the speech in 101 PA and (B) everyone was in proximity to that hospital when it was destroyed and a rift broke time in 109 PA. That could easily lead to a team dynamic, for sure. You guys already being a team in 101 PA is also a possibility, sure. Those options aren't fixed options from my point of view, though, that's all. In fact, I'd originally envisioned each of you making a separate character who may have worked off and on again with the other PCs, but it's the time travel itself that's the central unifying element now. People who may have had nothing to do with each other in 101 PA (like a Coalition spy or a war correspondent for example), but thanks to 8 years of remembering the Future That Was, now have good reason to group up.

If you guys want a preexisting group that's always been together, I can probably roll with that, it's just not what I'd originally envisioned. I'm sorry if I gave you any impression otherwise.

Personally, the question I'm curious about is what will have happened to Chan-Chan in the next 8 years that resulted in her not being part of the group swept back. ;)

Also, if you guys would like, I have an idea or three on a preexisting larger group that perhaps most/all of you might have been (or will be) members of. If you want some NPCs in the mix.

Epiphany Epiphany Pips, that's what I'm here to learn! Neither myself nor my character knows a darned thing about the future because neither of us have been there. The game starts for her in 101 P.A..

As for why she was not with the team/group/gathering of shenanigan-experts is in her backstory - the Grey Seers told her to avoid Tolkeen and though she was sad about it, she obeyed. Now, for reasons I've yet to figure out, she has gone against that edict (because the speech happens in Tolkeen and that's one of your important requirements). Of course, if we're not a team in the first place, then I guess she didn't join them and everyone is strangers to her. It'll be a drag if that happens, but there is accuracy to be had in here too - neither she nor I know how any of the other PCs are. If she's brand-new to the team/group/moshpit of maniacs, then... she'll need some very strong reason to join them (perhaps the larger force you have alluded to in your previous post).

Also, before I forget, does Chan-Chan have to pay for her Native Language (and forgive me if this was already mentioned elsewhere here in OOC/I don't remember if it was or if I daydreamed it? Sorry, it's been a long and eventful week in Real Life)?

Edit: See below post. =) Edit again: I just realized how tired I am. That post I just deleted contained percentage information on Native Languages, not if one gains them freely.

It's my irl nickname, a portmanteu of my name and epsilon, which is also suitably unique that I can use it everywhere and count on it not being taken.

Well, you've stopped talking about it, but until tonight, there wasn't a lot of group formation talk at all.

That's something that happens before any of us meet, so it's not really a group challenge, unless some of your characters were involved the first time around.

Since my character concept is a spy who turns their coat in the Future That Was, the only way they're really in a group with a bunch of people actually on Tolkeen's side in the original 101 PA is by lying through their teeth. Which is a really bad foundation for working together.

Tolkeen is a big place, when planning my character, I was under the distinct impression that we would *not* have known each other particularly well the first time around, but might have gotten closer during the FTW so that we were well-placed to form a group immediately upon restarting. That you have chosen to make a character who does not remember the FTW really makes group formation more complicated or at least suspension-of-disbelief-stretching.
