Seriously. Kaerri will be the first one to tell you; this Dannigan doesn't choose to spend his time with just anyone. =)

Me too!

Okies! Silent Mobius/Rifts question here! The character, Yuki, I believe, acts as the team's "early warning system?" In the first episode (the only I've seen), she's able to tell the group that the demon is in the vicinity and other such things.

Would it be fair to say that her Rifts equivalent O.C.C. is the Mystic? I'm reading up on Mystics now and, at least for the moment, that's how they seem to me. Do I have that right?

Could be. I must confess that it has been a long time since I've read the manga and I remember very little of it. I just remember that they were an all woman team of police fighting demons.

There are so very many occs in the books that could work it is hard to keep track of them all.

While the Mystic has some drawbacks, I am considering asking to play one because of their ability to Sense Supernatural Evil and open oneself to the supernatural - both useful things in tracking down the bad guys. But those drawbacks add up. When tracking them, they then sense you. The Mystic has limited spell knowledge (can't learn like the Ley Line Walker) but is also a major Psychic (almost wrote "Psychie!").

Hmm. Maybe a magic class would be useful? We don't have a caster (since Blake doesn't have spells yet).

Is there an O.C.C. that you guys can think of that would be of strong use to our team in these kinds of supernatural adventures? I don't mean in general - I mean some O.C.C. that really sticks out?

Where it comes too magic, the Ley Line Walker is the big gun on the block with the most spell knowledge and ppe available to them. They are not restricted to just North America, and can come in very handy.

Hmm. I remember you liking them a lot, Bud. Let me give them another look. The Ley Line Walker has always screamed 'RIFTS!" and "MAGIC!" in my head. How could they help out a team like ours were I to play one?

I guess what I should be asking is - Sherwood, would you allow me to select Ley Line Walker as my O.C.C. for my Spirit Host/Martial Artist?

They have a good skill set to them, too. You could say you are some sort of priest using magic to put spirits at ease and let them rest.

Oooh, if that's not Japanese, what is? Good thinking, Psychie!

Probably. I'd have to double check my books, but at the moment I don't see anything that would be a deal breaker.

Thanks for even considering it. I'll wait for your decision on the matter. =)

Sweet. I can then learn some magic! Teach me, senpai!
"Wat? Me teach you? You not worthy... unless... that is... you brought chocolate chip cookies?" Ha ha!

It will take some time to learn magic, but yes, you can start to pick up some spells as you game.

Wow. These Walkers can see magic in use including invisibility (not the Superior Invisibility spell). That is freakin' neat. =) To see magic even when it's trying to hide.

Ack! We're operating out of Tech City Central, Japan! Where in the heck are there going to be new spells to find?

Oh yeah! They get the little Ley Line spying ball! I forgot about that!

Ley Line Shield that auto-regenerates if destroyed? Useful only on a ley line, but still.

Jeez! 3d6x10+20 P.P.E. at first level? Whoa!

Wow. He's got enough skills to cover two martial art systems (if Hand to Hand: Basic is counted as 1, and martial art systems last I heard were 4 each in your game, then the Ley Line Walker has the 7 skills available to spend for both).

O.K.. If I worked my character this way, s/he would be... very interesting and adaptable!

With Spirit Host P.C.C. with Martial Art Powers, they'd be a Mega-damage creature ONLY in animus ("Crinos") form or animal form. In human form, they're S.D.C. and fair game. However, with Chi Gung and Stone Ox, they could spend 1 Chi/I.S.P. to make themselves into a Mega-damage creature in human form for two minutes at a time. Ley Line Walkers have light or medium armor that doesn't get in the way of their spell use.

They'd be covered in unarmed combat, melee combat, and ranged (with spells and any ranged weapons). They could know Chi Mastery which is useful on no small amount of levels (just having one Chi Mastery power gives a lot of decent benefits and Chi Healing can heal S.D.C. and... I believe small amounts of Mega-damage?).

So... they'd be an excellent caster without the handicap of being a weak fighter. In fact, they'd be a strong fighter if spells were not practical for some reason. Plus, with the Attributes they have, their bonuses will be many. Very likely a high M.E.. Maybe I.Q.. P.P. in the positive as always.

I would fill in a niche that appears needed in the team we are about to join. So far, I'd be the only spellcaster in the team that I'm aware of.

Yeah, this... sounds like a wild combination. I don't want to get my heart set on it or anything, but since Snowfall became a caster in our last Rifts game, I did enjoy having those spells handy. This could be a lot of fun. And if Ley Line Walker is not allowed, then perhaps some other casting class? (I like the Mystic, but how are you supposed to go all Major Kusanagi on your bad guys when your party member who acts as a radar also alerts your enemies because that's how the Mystic power works? That's what military folks call a liability! Hah!).

But yeah. This feels good. Time will tell if its allowed or not =)

As I said, the character class will probably be ok. I just want to double check a few things before giving it a full approval.

Well dann, you have some awesome die rolls to get you going. I see good things for is coming up.

Of course. Why wouldn't you? You're the GM; that's part of the job! Hah!

To be clear - everything I wrote above is just me thinking out loud. It is no way some kind of method to get you (or anyone) to approve, or feel that you should approve, what you have not already researched.

I just don't work that way (you know that, but text-based communications, as convenient as they are, are so limited!).

Yeah! Tell me about it! I don't think I've ever wound up with rolls like that on RP Nation! Talk about wow! =)
