If you were to take the sword fighting art that would be awesome with the psi sword.

Are you going to be a sort of Cyber Samauri Knight?
He will at least have the sword, I do not think he would follow the Samurai code like traditional Samurai, he is still a modern liberated New Republic boy ;-)

This is all because I ended up watching Season 2 of Star Wars Visions yesterday and all the amazing Jedi moments in it...(I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN IT YET)

If you were to take the sword fighting art that would be awesome with the psi sword.
I am definitely considering that, do I just switch out his Hand to Hand Martial Arts with that or do I need to spend a few other skills for it?

In order to upgrade to one of the advanced styles, it will cost you one skill past your regular Martial Arts.

Other question, can I make Ando a Master Psionic to really make my Jedi fantasy real?

Also, Purr Purr , if you wish to do so, you are good to go on using the Ley Line Walker as your OCC for your character.

Cyber-Knight! Cool! I have some curiosities about this? Could we discuss these now so we know what to expect in-game?

Eonivar Eonivar Psychie Psychie Sherwood Sherwood
1. This one is a statement. Thank you, Eon, for covering this from the get-go. Bushido, the code of the Samurai, and the code of Chivalry the Cyber-Knights are not the same at all and I have found years ago that these codes are not compatible. I will explain why in detail if anyone is interested (in short, in Bushido, your life purpose is to follow the will of your lord/daimyo to the point of death. In the Code of Chivalry, your purpose is to follow the greater good and no single personage).

2. Are you playing a Cyber-Knight or a Jedi in Cyber-Knight's clothing? (That you love Jedi is fantastic!. I ask it this way because, again, the Cyber-Knight code of Chivalry and the Code of the Jedi are not the same. I believe Cyber-Knights and Jedi would react differently in some situations and knowing in advance helps to keep all of us, GM included, on the same page and having fun together.) Now, if Sherwood steps in and says, "I don't care which or even if he is following either code," then please disregard this question and the next. =)

3. I ask the above question because it leads to my bigger curiosity: would a Cyber-Knight work with the team we are joining?

Or perhaps the better question is: What kind of team are we joining and are Principled-types accepted?

Section 6 is an anti-terrorist licensed to kill agency. In the Ghost in the Shell manga, Major Kusanagi did a guy from behind on a boat basically with a Critical from Behind. Earlier in the story while Kusanagi is in public walking down the street, another guy puts an axe into Kusanagi's back. She not only blows him away but also one of the guys with him (apparently for being with him). Also, after multiple warnings to stop, Batou shoots a bad guy boss (Koil) in the back as he is fleeing and kills him.

I am concerned that if we have a Batou-like person in charge and mid-mission, we are told to "sneak up on those bad guys and take 'em out," will our Principled dragon and Code-bearing Cyber-Knight be morally able to comply?

The Cyber-Knight code of Chivalry does not allow the Cyber-Knight to attack from behind. Now, that doesn't apply to his party, but Cyber-Knights can be a tricky class to play. What offends one knight won't bother another.

Plus, I am convinced that there are no Cyber-Knight-like people anywhere in Section 6 in which this game is partly based on Ghost in the Shell. Not even new-guy Togusa is under any illusions that the team is Principled in nature (as our Kumo-mi dragon is and my character might be). As for Silent Mobius, which this game is also based from, I don't know because I've only seen one episode.

4. What does becoming a Master Psychic mean in this game? (I ask it this way because last I heard, Masters like Mind Melters, could choose from the Super category whereas the major could not in most cases. If this means the Cyber-Knight can now freely choose Supers, then hey! That's fine by me! But I need to know what the other characters can do so that mine is on-par with them. I am making changes to my character just to keep up with the Cyber-Knight and Blake. Remember that I toned down my character to Detective Ando's level and Blake. Now that Detective Ando is apparently no more, the power balance has changed and I feel the need to adapt.)

And thanks, Sherwood, for allowing me to play a Ley Line Walker! Hooray! Psychie, I almost asked to play a Ley Line Rifter because they can (get this!) teleportation hitchhike off of teleporting dragons! Whoooa!! Is that a wild concept or what? =)

That is a valid question and if we are more a of Section 9 type group then I definitely would not be bringing a Cyber knight...(and probably going with the Agent/Symbiote idea)

It feels like all of my character ideas are not working...

This is what I get when I try to think of character ideas at 3 AM.

Eonivar Eonivar Hold your horses, friend! If anybody can help your character fit in here, I can! Exalted 3.0 maybe your guys gig, but Rifts Japan is one of mine. =)

I just want to play something that fits the story/campaign and is fun to RP. That is all.

Eonivar Eonivar If your character is a Cyber-Knight following the Code of Chivalry, he could fit in just fine if we're playing a game that is based on Ghost in the Shell with elements of Silent Mobius, which I believe Sherwood has stated we are.

The team simply must accept that your character is a Cyber-Knight!

This holds just as true for Psychie's Shinto-following Sohei, does it not? She is a dragon, but she is also living the life of a monk!

The team we are forming is probably the first of its kind if I have my facts correct (I think this is one reason I ask so many questions - for when things like this come up). The idea is that both of our worlds mesh together.

Imagine. The wood-like Yin nature of the new Empire combined with the hard metallic Yang nature of the Republic of Japan. To form into one team, adaptation from both sides is an absolute must. Every character must bend like the willow tree lest they break like the obdurate oak tree during a typhoon.

Using the analogy I made earlier, perhaps the Batou-like character would order those who were capable of it to take out (kill) bad guys from behind while giving your Cyber-Knight the more difficult objective of taking one prisoner so he'll talk. If the target is cybernetically inclined, who but the Cyber-Knight is better able to shut him down?

Now how does your character look, Eon? Do you see?

Actually, I had a thought. Maybe I am looking in the wrong direction. Less flash, more espionage.

A New Republic Psi-Ghost. That would definitely fit a Section 9 team.

Eonivar Eonivar What does a Psi-ghost do? I don't have any recollection of that class.

And why not play a Cyber-Knight if Sherwood will let you? I thought something Jedi like that was your dream character?

Hey!! It's a D. Rex!! How have you been, man?! Long time no see!

Eonivar Eonivar GunMan2 GunMan2 GunMan! Eon! Meet D. Rex D. Rex ! He's a really cool guy and one hell of a role player! He makes believable characters who you can relate to, plus he has a sense of humor that I love (anybody who makes a character name based off of the legendary and infamous Rick Roll is not a completely serious person!). =)

D.? Gunman2 here has played with Sherwood and Psychie in our now-defunct Southern Cross game. With Gunman2, what you see is what you get (no nonsense, no drama). Gunman2 is clever and he writes posts that will make you think!

Eonivar plays with us in our Exalted game and in Sherwood's UEEF Robotech game. Eon's characters tend to be deep, thoughtful, and full of heart. You'll never have to wonder where his characters are coming from. =)

Psychie Psychie Sherwood Sherwood Guys! Look who's here!

Good to see you again Dannigan! You never fail to bring back some good memories of good rps. And that goes for Psychie Psychie and Sherwood Sherwood too! It has been a while, and i sure have missed you folk.

Oh boy! How I've been? Busy, crazy busy. More kids, working non stop, and life a moving at a million miles an hours. Have barely had time for rp or anything fun for that matter. My brain has been more fried than a state fair triple dipped corn dog. So naturally, it is wise of me pop my head in to see whats happening in a Rifts game that I very likely have forgotten absolutely every mechanic, not a stretch given I didn't even fully understand when I played it. Winging it for the win.

GunMan2 GunMan2 Eonivar Eonivar A pleasure to meet you two! If you are hanging around with this lot, I know ya'll are bound to be some good players. While I won't stop Dannigan from heaping praises upon me, he's exaggerating. I mostly fumble around in the dark, ask a million questions, make them explain mechanics in a way a toddler might understand (repeatedly), and have grander ideas than I am capable of pulling off so end up mostly trying to make my failures look epic so as to nurse my ego that had been shattered by 1s. Oh and I like to make characters without any idea how to actually make them. "It sounded cool at the time" basically being the extent of my checklist.

As for Gunman! I had a lot of fun with a Robotech game with them before. Probably one of the only rps on this site that I has seen reach its end. Good stuff there. I love me some clever posting. Love being made to think and thinking back! Especially when you start throwing intellectual banter into the mix.

And Eon! As before, had me some Robotech experience with these folk too. And plenty of Exalted! Absolutely loved it, finally a game that let me go nuts with concepts. Barely any idea what I was doing, melted my brain a couple times, but lot of fun. And nothing that I love more seeing in a character than heart. Gets me hooked every time.

Hey D. Rex D. Rex ! Great to see you again, even if for a moment! Are you looking to get into another game? If it works with your schedule, and that sounds busy as heck, you are always welcome in one of my games. We can get you up to speed and get a character for you that you'll love without any trouble.

I am not familiar with the Psi-Ghost. What book is that one in?

It’s from the Psyscape book

That explains why I couldn't find it in the Japan one. I'll take a look at it.
