Welp, Still reading the book and looking for the best class i can give but also trying to figure out what we are missing currently.
Im finished reading the tech ninja and thinking of making one after reading the juicer and borg.

Are some of my questions
1. Races are only human and we chose the classes here.
2. What kind of dynamic should we settle for the team...one where we do not trust each other but still do the job while trying to keep our loyalties tot he empire or republic. Or do we get recruited/trained specifically to work together as a unit.
3. The dragon borgs look interesting and wonder which one is like the earliest one can get/make in case we need to fight a bigger demon or something or are they too powerful for now.

(Just me thinking out loud again. Stop me if you'd rather me not type out my thoughts. I'll understand without worry. =) )

Besides O.C.C., the only other roadblock I think I have is which animal to choose from the Spirit Host PCC. At first, I was stuck on tigers because they are not Japanese (that's a background thing; my character is Japanese/Korean and I strongly imagine they don't like that in the New Empire. I mean, look at Japan today.). But the more I look into it, the more I like the idea of choosing something maybe different.

While researching this character, I realized that my knowledge of Korean folk lore is... nearly non-existent, especially compared to my Japanese and Chinese folk lore knowledge. Here's something cool - did you know the animals of Chinese Zodiac (pig, dog, snake, etc.) are the very same in Korean? I think that's neat! If there were no Korea, there would be no Japan. Hence, Tigers being a strong first choice.

Still, if I wind up playing a caster, would it not be sensible to perhaps consider the more mind-oriented Korean Zodiac animals? Like Snake or Monkey? Huh!

That's interesting not sure about my knowledge but of the folklore of japan but know about the Yuki One or the woman with the slit mouth. Alos did you know that my chinese zodiac is monkey =)

Ok…trying to catch up on the thread here while I am unable to sleep at the moment.

1. I would be willing to look at Free Agent in N&S if it makes more sense for what Ando does and it will fit in a Rifts context. I will dig around to see if there are another better occ here that may fit.

2. Ando does not have to have the cybernetic implants. This symbiot sounds interesting.

Heya Gun!

Ah, as far as I understand things, we are not "missing" any particular class or role. Sherwood is very good at putting in NPCs that fill holes (like communication specialists in his Rifts games).

1. Probably, but that's definitely up to Sherwood (of course, all of this is).

2. I believe Sherwood mentioned that our PCs are brand new to an already-formed team? Loyalties have not come up. At least in vanilla Rifts Japan, a very large number of the Republic of Japan (tech city) people hold no grudge towards the New Empire and its ancient traditions. Our factions after all are all fighting against demons, plus we're mostly all Japanese. So, yeah. I'd rather us take the welcoming approach.

3. I'd be surprised if Sherwood turned you down for something like a Tsunami Borg when we have a Blake in the house. Again, his call, of course.

Re: Japanese fables. No, I haven't heard about those two?

Re: Monkey sign. Hah! Is that why you're so clever? Ha ha! You've made some posts as Chris Barnes in Robotech that I just thought were spot-on and wonderfully clever!

Hey Eon! Sorry you can't sleep, buddy! Rawr...

1. Ah, some of the skills I'm sure are redundant or no longer in use (Microwave Communications, etc.). Sherwood has mentioned that when in doubt we're using the Rifts Main Book for that, but I would think Ando would still come out way ahead as a Private Eye or some other kind of Free Agent than the beat cop of Rifts Japan.

2. Oh, the symbiote is a trip! It definitely adds a roleplaying element all its own while protecting its host! But I'll leave that for Sherwood to chat with you about. =)

What book is the symbiote in?

Ando’s OCC: I cannot help but think maybe one of the city rats or headhunters would fit here, or the one of the special forces occ from mercenaries but I will look around.

Re: Symbiote. I don't know. I'd never heard of it/forgotten about it by the time Sherwood thought to enter it into our last Rifts game. =)

Re: O.C.C.. Yeah! You be you and play what brings you happiness! Good luck finding something you'll like for years! =)

If you are going to go borg, human is your best bet. Any supernatural powers you had before going borg would be lost, so it would be a waste to pick something different.

The team will be meeting one another in game, so any dynamic will be determined by you. I would like you to not be an unreasonably xenophobic person when dealing with the others.

Dragon borgs are cool, but hardly subtle. That can be both a good and a bad thing, but it is totally doable

The symbiote is in the Atlantis book. Off the top of my head I don't remember the page. I'll look once I'm off work in the morning.

Yeah I found that, the “Absurr Life Node”. Atlantis pg 117

It’s actually pretty cool, and I will consider this for Ando.

Still looking at OCCs

That's the one I was thinking of. They work pretty well to help keep you alive.

What is really funny is I realized that I have the Original version of Ninja's and Superspies and not the revised one.

There are some sizable changes between versions so be careful.

I went ahead and bought the PDF of the revised...so we should be ok

Cool. I'm glad we're getting so much interest in this game.
To be fair, the PDF is on sale on DrivethruRPG, so it is not a big expense =-)

Well first observation...if I truly wanted a good character with a large set of skills and powers...Revised Cyber Knight in the Rifts Ultimate book. But considering there are none of those in the New Republic..unless there are???? Ando would be a cool cyber knight.

The Free or Operative Agent in Revised N&S would fit Ando well here...with the symbiote, I would have to figure out a way to convert the skill packages here and apply the skills in Rifts Ultimate, I would probably take the Tai Chi martial art which I particularly like, and the Calm Mind Zenjorike power thingy which would once again be right up Ando's alley.

going back to sleep for a bit...

There is nothing about the cyber knight that says it is exclusive to North America. Even if it were, you could have traveled there in your youth and gotten the training and added to it the eastern martial training. You would be looked at as some sort of cyber samauri, and they are well accepted in the Republic.

Just make sure you have the right language skills for the area.

Sounds interesting on the knight as that make sense for the republic but is the cybersamurai similar to the knight?

Different powers and skill focus, along with different weapons.

Cyber Knights have the ability to cloud electronics, making it hard to hit them with modern weapons or mecha.

Yup. In the tech heavy cities of the Republic, a Cyber Knight will be very deadly.

I think I may make Ando a cyber knight, I have always loved the class. I am going to reroll him completely if that is ok.
