I have posted several times that the engine MDC cannot be increased in any less than several hours. And as for the speed boost, I was trying to give his character something to do in this encounter.

Dano Dano I may have goofed again? Let me see.

Summertime: 20 (10 x 2 M.D.)
Wintertime: 30 (15 x 2 M.D.)
Strength bonus for both 68 (34 x 2 M.D)

Yep! You're right, Dano! 118 it is! Thanks for the correction! I'll edit.

Also, Sherwood Sherwood would you mind if I posted a "victory post" of sorts? This is really a glorious kill and I'd like Gradicus to display it in-character.

Thanks!

Hey Dano Dano ?
It was no surprise as to the to Trent of the effectiveness he witnessed as he watched the others take shot after shot at the dragon.
(Bold mine)

I'd like to understand what it is you're expressing here, but I'm not getting it. Halp, please? =)

Dano Dano All fixed! Yaaaay! =)

Thanks for not brushing that sort of thing off. =) I really like knowing what folks are trying to express, be it from the head or heart or both, in person or on a music video, with poetry, role-playing on the best RP site in the world, etc. =)

Hi!

I get frustrated (probably a touch more frustrated than I reasonably should) when I see someone who clearly thinks well but is having serious problems being understood. I always have. My problem is not with the person; my problem is with the communication. I want to know what everyone is saying. It's like something in my mind isn't satisfied until I have clear meaning. Whether I agree with the statement or not isn't important at that point (if I don't, I'll still do everything I can to respect it; it's the least I can do!).

When I'm playing MMORPGs or reading something online and find someone who, say, has English as a second language and they're trying like hell to be understood, but failing. They ask for help because they really want to learn, right? I'm the guy who's right there encouraging them, staying with them, helping with their grammar, spelling, punctuation, correct word usage, etc. Good writing takes practice. Good communication comes with great rewards!

Am I trying to be a "grammar Nazi"? No. It's not about my controlling what someone else is saying; it's me (almost desperately?) desiring to know their real thoughts. I want to help them get there. This is especially true when they are reaching out for help. Dyslexic folks must have it really rough to have to concentrate themselves so fully every time they read something!

Now, mind you, I don't mean to refer to folks who are trying to be cool with slang, "leetspeak," and so on. They know what they're doing; they're just going about it in a way that satisfies the creative individual inside. People can be more beautiful than they realize. People are creative sometimes in ways they don't imagine.

Remember the Beatles song, "Hard Days Night"? According to Paul McCartney, that song was inspired by Ringo Starr's slip of the tongue. Starr's brain just worked a little differently than most and it came out in his speech. So, the Beatles had been busy and Starr remarked how it had been a "Hard Days Night". McCartney, with his incredibly creative talent for music, caught it and soon the Beatles had yet another hit. Just how cool is that? =)

When people communicate poorly, I think it hits their confidence in a bad way. It doesn't matter if they're young or old, healthy or bedridden. When folks communicate skillfully, something changes. It's like the person seems to grow a bit inside. They get to know themselves a bit more. Gain some of that precious "self-knowledge" Bruce Lee is known for talking about.

I try very hard to see the person inside first. Not the body, not the skin, not the gender, special need, religion, creed, political viewpoint, ethnic background, etc. It's that human being behind the eyes I am going for. I find myself asking, "So, what do you mean to express? Who are you? How can we share and have fun together?"

It all starts when folks with communication. =)

Have a good morning! =)

You should have seen how intense Dannigan was when I was making up a character for his Robotech game. The background story was edited many times to get everything just right. But at the end of it all, it helped me to really get into my character even more.

Dano Dano you said that you were confused on how my character was able to boost the engine so fast, you said that i didnt have any tool, this is false becuase i have a tool kit on my character and even if my character forgot it he has a tool arm, for more information on the tool arm consult my bionics page on my character sheet

edit: also i mentioned in the ic that my character used telemechanics to help him faster familiarize himself with the engine and therefor boost the speed he could increase it performance.

DraconianWarrior DraconianWarrior Hey there! If I am reading your statements right (I'm still having trouble), Sherwood already answered Dano's main concern - how could Blaze work so quickly? Sherwood's response:

I have posted several times that the engine MDC cannot be increased in any less than several hours. And as for the speed boost, I was trying to give his character something to do in this encounter.

That's all Dano seemed to be asking about. Sherwood put that to bed. Everything's cool, man. =)

As for the dragon, yes! We took him down right before he was going to teleport out of Shaona's magic net! It was quite an achievement of teamwork! =)

The battle is almost over. The two Titan powered armor suits don't stand a chance against you, and the rest of the pirates are getting left behind buy the ship as you run away. I'm just waiting for the bad guys to possibly have a chance to run away, assuming that they don't get blasted before they can do so.

Just try to be more expressive in your posts and that will help out a lot. More content is almost never a bad thing!

sorry ive just never been very good about makeing big posts, it just feels like i cant have my character do very much without interacting with another character, whether it be a real person or an npc, and i dont want to control how the act or react becuase it feels like cheeting to me

Here is a suggestion: show is what Blake is thinking as he acts. Is he confident in what will happen, or is he nervous about how the encounter will play out? Where does he come from? Include references about your youth, or what inspired you to go fill conversion Borg. It will help us get to know your character better, and it will help you to get a better grip on him yourself!

Hey DraconianWarrior? Expressive posts don't need to be big. Just expressive (and understandable).

For example: "I rigged the engines to go faster!" Blake gave a thumbs up. He loved working with his tools to help people.

See? Not big, but it says a lot. Just three sentences. =)

Usually with a background npc, I don't mind if you have them make any actions or comments that don't make major changes in the scene. Also, if you want to add details to the background, most of the time I will be able to roll with it.

Psychie Psychie and Purr Purr you guys have hit the nail right on the head.

Purr Purr
i see what your getting at but when i envisioned him in my mind he wasnt a very emotional kind of character, more like he was cold and desicive not really careing for much as long as it didnt effect him, think of a robots mentality

Sherwood Sherwood ok understood

DraconianWarrior, then express that. Just express it in a way that folks can understand, and everyone will be on the same page.

One example: Tuning up the engines for greater speed was simple for Blake. He had always gotten along with machines more than people. He approached Captain Raimus and said, "The River Walker is faster than ever now."

Or add a comment from one of the engineers asking what you are doing, and you tell them to turn some dials and get ready for a boost in output.
