Thanks guys. She is on her antibiotics and is being cared for by her loving family. She should respond quickly.

Sorry I haven't responded this weekend... its been a bit crazy... My daughter's 5th birthday party was Saturday and then yesterday was my cousin's party for completing (Army) Ranger school.

Hopefully my IC post was enough to catch up and keep things moving...

I applaud both the birthday and the graduation. Real Life comes first. Your IC post was plenty to help move things along.

Hey, Dano Dano ?

I am having fun role-playing with you, and I like your writing style. Hooray for your daughter and cousin both! Army Rangers are no one to mess with! =)

Concerning the game...

...unless I'm reading this wrong (and I certainly could be), Trent just stole a million credits from our characters?

Trent's a smuggler, I get that. You're playing in the way you described him in your character sheet. I get that, too.

But, at the breakfast table, two characters pointedly asked Trent about the money and the people associated with the trip.

"You work quickly," Gradicus nodded favorably as he plucked the slice with his bare hand and examined it. Innocently, yet pointedly, he tried to make small talk. "How much did this Captain Ramius and his River Walker cost us then?"

Her eyes wander to find Trent at the table. "Anything about the ship that we should be worried about, not counting repairs? Captain, crew, anything? I've been robbed more than once, and you know your contacts better than we do, luckily."

So, as a player, do you mean to say Trent addressed neither of these concerns (maybe just blew them off?), and just walked out the door to deposit all those credits into Trent's bank?

Or did I honestly miss something?

Sorry... i forgot about that... the IC moved pretty quickly and I thought I had gone back and covered everything... Because I missed some time, half the people had already left and were on the ship... I can pull my post back and put up a new one to continue the conversation at breakfast if that is preferable.

No worries! It sounded like Real Life kept you pretty busy, and you're right - there are plenty of in character posts to get lost in.

As for a solution, I'm not certain. Maybe we should ask Sherwood Sherwood ? He'll probably know the best way to not mess up his game, (for lack of better words).

Thank you for being so open to this, Dano! I am O.K. with characters doing this sort of thing to each other, but I guess I'm used to it being discussed in out of character first. Maybe I have been GMing too long! Ha! =)

No, you are right - I should not have overlooked the situation.

I give you a Like-Cookie to make you feel better (see your last post)? =)

It is fine to me that Dano Dano had Trent keep the money; he's just playing in character. It will balance out in times when you get loot that he can't use but the others want/need. I would just hope that as the group begins to form a team and other situations come up that he won't be as tempted to do something like that again.

I'm personally fine with it; it's not like I don't have lots of good stuff and will probably run into more cool swag once the group gets to Atlantis.

I misunderstood. If you wish to add a post where Trent lays out how much he says the ride to Atlantis cost, feel free to do so. Either have this post take place on the ship, or have you add a tag of 'earlier in the day' to show that it happened before you got on the ship.

I'll follow up after you've posted, Dano. =)

thank you for the oppurtunity to let my character familiarize himself with the drones, that will most likely come in handy in the future

Dano Dano Thanks for that! Didn't join in in the discussion yesterday, but I appreciate the extra effort. I'm quite busy tomorrow, but I'll see if I can get a proper response up.

Thanks, Dano!

Wow. My character is going to be seriously pissed should he ever find out Trent has screwed everyone else out of one million credits. I'm going to go ahead and say my character falls for this. Why? Because he's Atlantean, naive, and wants to trust Trent, being the young fool that Gradicus is. Plus, I don't want to kill anyone's fun.

As for me as a player, it surprises me that this is going to be that kind of game. Now, the way I see it, our characters have to watch each other's tails. Just wait until that 12 million in Black Market items comes up.

But to be clear - of course, I hold none of this against our Dano! I like our creative and happenin' Dano! =)

Hey there! Here's a little Real Life backstory I hope you find amusing.

The crazy thing is - I have just left an RP I'd just joined over this sort of thing! =)

See, Kaerri and I have been great friends with these gamers we've known for over 10 years now. Fun, silly people! Recently, they invited me in to play a terrific homebrewed RP using the FATE system. But it wasn't until after I'd created a good character and started did I realize this game was for non-good-aligned characters. Whoops! In fact, the characters (not the players!) were all so self-serving and ambitious to the point the GM felt the need to put a "harm each other and your character dies" clause in the game! Talk about whoa, right?! Ha ha!

Now, here's the really good part. In their OOC area, everyone including myself was all in on the lies and backstabbing! The laughs are on! In Real Life, they were having fun plotting against each other and the baddies they were to face. Their plots in OOC were totally open and discussed in detail! Then, in IC, their characters would have to act surprised when one or another realized they'd been screwed!

So yeah. Sadly, every PC fit into this type of game except for me. =)

When I realized I wasn't having fun, I didn't want to waste their time. Nor am I one to act and play along ("To thine own self be true." - WIlliam Shakespeare). I explained this.

They recommended corrupting my character or changing his "class" to something less than honorable and so forth. I tried! Really I did! But I just couldn't get into it. Evidently, it kills my fun when I play selfish bastards and evil murderers as my main character in a game (as opposed to my GMing villains). So, in OOC, I shared my concern and asked them what I should do. I eventually decided to bow out gracefully. I did so with everyone's blessing (of course! We're all buddies and no game is going to get in the way of that). We all agree that we'll game again together in the future. That's the power of friendship!

And guess what? This all happened while Sherwood was inviting me to this game. I also didn't want to join two games. So, yeah. I effectively left their game to join this one. =)

And now... we have people screwing each other in-character here (but not out-of-character! You guys and gals are cool!). =)

So... in-character, I'm going to go along and say my Atlantean is naive and trusting enough to go with Trent's lie. Besides, Trent's a smuggler and that's what good Dano wants to play. Who am I to say otherwise? It's Dano's game-time too! =) If it comes to light that my character finds out Trent lied and stole from them, I get to see how the gladiator in my character reacts to that. I think young Gradicus might well try to kill Trent over that; it's what gladiators would do. But I don't know. I'm not looking forward to that moment, should it come to pass (and, given how Dano wrote it, it probably won't).

Besides, I have but two other alternatives.
1. Gradicus presses Trent on details and likely gets into an argument with him (something I also don't enjoy role-playing; I'm here for the fun!). That could lead to in-team violence (since there is no such clause in this game against it). That kills the fun, at least for me.
2. I gracefully bow out of this game too (which would be a shame given the good people we're playing with).

And so, for the sake of peace, I'll have my character play the fool and remain. =)

Sherwood Sherwood I may have missed it (and pardon me if I did); did our characters receive the Blind Warrior Woman Talismans and such advanced to us from Brazamal?

Trent strikes me as a canny enough of an operator to not let tip what he kept.

As Sherwood indicated, I also suspect what we fight and loot will in the long run make the difference negligible. Especially if we get a crack at Blind Warrior Women! ;)

Speaking for myself, the Code of the Knights of the Order of the White Rose includes things like protecting the innocent, championing justice, fighting evil in all its guises, etc. I suspect the majority of the group will lean cooperatively. And Trent, being the seemingly intelligent guy that he is, can probably read which way the winds are blowing and play/appear accordingly.

Looking forward to what happens next! In the near future, Kimberly's going to be pressing people to talk more about what they can do and how to plan this rescue mission properly.

I fully agree.

It's not the end numbers that trouble me - it's the lack of trust between characters and that some are willing to screw others, even here at the very beginning of the game. We're going to Atlantis; the screwing of "teammates" might not stop at mere money, if you get my meaning.

Otherwise, I'm excited at what's coming later too! =)
