What kind of Martial Arts do you have at the moment? If it is the 'generic' Martial Arts, you can buy HEMA on the cheap for just a skill. If you have another style already and want HEMA as a second style, it will cost you four more of your skills to purchase it.

I'm on Pao Pat Mei, or the cats wouldn't be on Eron's tail, right? Well, that's why he fears them, at least...

Was there some kind of special rule if one gets skills for a second time (HEMA would give me paired weapons again, which I paid a skill for) - don't think there was, just checking. We were allowed to switch out skills in some capacity, right?

Yes. If you get Paired Weapons again from HEMA, you can swap out the earlier purchase for a different skill.

Great, thanks! That leaves me still with open skills... I'm not used to this... there's gotta be something that fits too well to pass up on it. The sword can only transform into other blade forms, right? It couldn't turn into something axe-like, for example? Just making sure, don't want to miss out on style points.

By the way - completely unconnected: I really liked the style of the last mission, personally. Not as combat-focused, different obstacles, a variety of possible options (yes, we teleported in and out, but it still got me thinking what else might be an option). Just thought I'd let you know since it felt different than some of the other challenges - and I enjoyed that!

Thank you! I do try to come up with different stuff than the same ol' 'see target hit target' over and over. I hope you guys will enjoy the next story arc as much!

Psychie Psychie Are you going to take the two free skills or that Dimensional Teleport Tattoo? I want to make sure I am fully prepared for what comes up next.

By the way, Sherwood Sherwood - do you know if there's a way to actually pick up automatic dodge? I'm not aware of one thus far, but Eron has the tendency to run out of actions before the rest runs into that problem. Maybe I should just parry more often... but people shoot at me all the time... maybe because I'm standing on their shoulders?

Edit: It might not be a good idea to have Eron with auto-dodge, though... he's pretty hard to hit...

Some Martial Art styles come with Auto Dodge, but not many.

I will say that before the fun of the next adventure starts out, Eron will get himself some better defenses to be able to devote more of his actions to attacking, and then can use the Parry option more to keep you in the fight.

Sounds like a plan! I'm kind of surprised that his armor right now still exists - it always feels like it's just one more hit away from falling to pieces.

Good. I'm working on some details of what is coming up, and I hope to have it ready to post in the next few days.

I suddenly have a great deal of things to ponder.

O.K.. let me take these on first, then I'll tackle the dragon in the room so to speak:
You know, add a few practice areas, offer connections, make it a place that'll not just offer comfort, but helps to spread our success around to let others do some good in the world as well?
Depending on what it is Sherwood wants Snowfall to be doing for the next six months (re: dragon in the room), Snowfall would be up to help with this. Not to lead it, but to provide support and teach where he is most needed.

I'd say that Terra's home soil sounds like a good place to set up things; we can always spread out further later on
I say "yes" to this if Clan Draco Amicus is onboard for it. I don't want to take anything for granted (and they've been such wonderful hosts so far!). =)

Sherwood Sherwood I have since put out a finalized version of Hand to Hand: HEMA (v1.3? v1.4? I've forgotten!). It's my final version. If you'd rather use it than what we've got now, I won't get the two confused. Let me know if you're interested in looking at it?

I think . . . that yes, I'll take the Dimensional Teleport Tat. I'll add it to my sheet.
This changes everything for Snowfall.

Edit: It might not be a good idea to have Eron with auto-dodge, though... he's pretty hard to hit...
Sil, I would take Automatic Dodge any way I could get it! Be it martial arts, psionic power, magic item device, what-have-you. It is an eternally handy skill to have! =)

This changes everything for Snowfall.
In a bad way, or a good way? I don't want to see you get in a bad position if I can avoid it. If it is a problem, we can keep Snowfall as the only one of the two of you that has that power.

Whichever version you would prefer to use is fine. I just need a solid commitment to one or the other for this game.

O.K.. "The dragon in the room."

At long last, our dear Psychie has the Terra she really wants to play! I can't be happier for ya, lady! She looks terrific and ready to raise hell!

However... Snowfall is out of a role. Am I sure? Well, I have asked myself, "can Terra do this?"

Healing (S.D.C.): Check
Healing (M.D.C.): Check
Bring back the dead (resurrect): Check
Fly at Mach 8 in no atmosphere: Check
Conjure wind powers that helped us greatly in Lone Star: Check
Summon 500 M.D.C. Mega-monster: Check
Teleport the party from one dimension to another: Check.

There are other commonalities, though Terra is no clone. The above is just largely Snowfall's build and the reason I created him into being. After much thought, I have come to the conclusion that, put simply, Terra's Terminators simply doesn't need a Tattooed Voyager anymore. In terms of Character Class (not race), Terra can now virtually do much of what Snowfall can do.

Notice I didn't say, "Terra's Terminators simply don't need Snowfall anymore." That is not the case. Snowfall, the character, is staying put.

But now what do I do with him?

The way I see it? Either I ask Psychie to change Terra or I change Snowfall. I would prefer the latter. It isn't like we were doing a lot of dimension-hopping before. He has summoned Juu (his ten-headed schizophrenic hydra whom I get a big kick out of) only once. He's used his dimension hopping for a total of one scene. There are a number of tattoos he has had since the start of the game that he has never used and might not use. Others, he uses all of the time. But they don't number many.

What am I getting at? This. I guess I ask Sherwood if I can change Snowfall's O.C.C.? I see that Terra has kept her spells. Perhaps Snowfall could keep some of his tattoos? And... simply become something else? Maybe a caster class (not a Controller)? I've been reading up on this for a little while today. But one thing seems for certain. Something has to bend in order for each of us to enjoy our characters and I am willing to do this so Psychie enjoys hers and I continue to enjoy mine.

Thoughts?

Honor and fun,
Dann =)

I would hardly be playing fair if I didn't allow you to make some changes to your character in the same vein as Psychie did with Terra. Before I start tossing out ideas willy-nilly, are there any classes that you would be interested in adapting to your current sheet? Perhaps adding some caster magic along the lines of a Ley Line Walker or one of the Atlantean Crystal Mages? Is there something that is speaking to you?

Hey.

You are welcome to toss ideas my way because I haven't found any class yet that fits. So far, nothing in the Secrets of the Atlanteans fits (crystal mage, stone magic guy).

I've never played a pure casting class as a PC in Palladium. The big thing I really want to know is - if I change his O.C.C., what can he keep? He gets a great deal out of being an M.D.C. creature, having some magical tattoos that he uses regularly, and so forth. Not to mention his skills. I've also never swapped classes before as a PC (only as a Palladium GM).

I'm largely in the dark here. I'll have my books in front of me later today so I can look up much of what you guys might recommend? Whatever class comes to mind, caster or otherwise.

You would be able to keep your current tattoos, PPE level and MDC. That is now a part of your character, and it would kill Snowfall to lose them.

If you want to go with a caster of some sort, by far the best one (at least, in my own opinion) is the Ley Line Walker. You would be able to add to your character Invocation spells as a level one Ley Line Walker, and as you travel and come across people with magic spells that you don't have, you can learn them from that person in addition to what you pick up as you level boost.

Techno Wizards can be fun, but they have their share of headaches in trying to gimmick up items with magic crystals.

The Mystic OCC from the Core Book adds psy powers to you in addition to some magic casting powers.

Shifters have spells and abilities to control Rifts, which in your position is a bit redundant with your tattoos.

Those are a few quick class ideas, all of which can be easily picked up by you during your downtime.

There are many different OCCs in World Book 25 China 2 that have a mystic slant to them that might be a better fit for you.

I've noticed over the years that you've always talked highly about the Ley Line Walker class. Other forums (including Palladium's own) have a great number of fans who, as a whole seem to think the Walker's special abilities are more or less "ho-hum," but that they can basically cast anything they can get their paws on is of great benefit. If I'm gathering that right?

Re: Techno-wizardry. I thought about this, but in Snowfall's core, he's a creature of magic, not tech. I'd feel best keeping him right there. Plus... over the years, Techno-wizards are either great fun or great headaches depending on the people playing the game. What they can do is fantastic, but boy... the prepwork sounds like a mini-game in itself! I will admit though; if Snowy were more the ninja-type, he might have been able to be talked into being a Ninja Techno-Wizard (out of World Book: Japan). Those are some bad dudes!

I've read good things about the Mystic and will look into them. =)

Shifters, even if Snowfall's background wasn't what it is, wouldn't be my thing. While they have some terrific abilities, I'm afraid I'm not into making "deals" with supernatural entities. Too much can go wrong. =)

If there is one thing I want to keep (or possibly augment), it is Snowfall's Asian "flavor" if you will. I gave him HEMA only as an alternative to the too-often-used Zanji Shinjinken Ryu (plus I wanted to be one of the first to try out what I had created! =) ). I'll be looking in that book too.

Sherwood, I really appreciate your understanding all this. Plus allowing Snowy to keep his tattoos, P.P.E., and M.D.C.. I didn't see any of that coming. =)
