Most of that time for you is going to be taken up with the process of getting your new tattoos added on, but if there is something you wish to do or try and get, here is your chance.
Like what? Honestly, the only thing I can think of doing is for Snowfall to open up a free Tai Chi class three times a week for Atlanteans and their allies who wish to learn Chinese methods of self-betterment.

Outside of swapping out his tattoo, I can't think of anything.

What kind of options have we?

I had a thought: Lets buy our own bar! We have plenty of money to do so, hiring up a staff and manager to run the place, along with lots of inventory. We could then use it as the place to hang our hats between adventures!
Maybe call it "Terra's Tavern?" Or simply "Terra's?"

That can be a very valid thing to do. If you wish to just montage this a bit, that's fine. If you also wish to hold off on any plans for a bit, that's fine, too.

Which tattoo are you looking to change? Is there some kind of tattoo that you are interested in but are not certain about?

That is totally up to you guys, but it sounds like you are on board with this idea.

Sherwood Sherwood I am referring to this conversation across our OOC here:

Could Snowfall get one of his own magical tattoos swapped out if he desired?

You are talking about replacing an existing tattoo? Sure. I will let you do that.

Heyo! This was the tattoo Snowfall is strongly considering replacing (he has an item that can do it more efficiently):
18. Energized Impervious to Energy -- Temporarily makes tattoo user impervious to all energy-based attacks. 45 P.P.E. for 2 rounds/level of experience. "Red Lightning Bolt"

Yeah, I'm strongly thinking about having Snowfall take on that Air Powers Tattoo for its various functionalities.

Sure, it's 55 P.P.E. per casting (not cheap, but double-duration with Energized for 2 minutes/level), but Wind Rush came in useful against the Skelebots. The Float on Air spell is useful for helping folks who can't fly. The Lightning Strike isn't as potent as his Rod of Weather Controls, but hey, it's nice to have (plus it fires from the sky and that might make a difference during some cover-related showdowns?). We haven't run into any Air Elementals that I'm aware of, but this means he'd able to see and converse with them. Plus, Calm Storms because... why not? =)

Ah. I thought you were discussing a different tattoo, since I was under the impression that you were going to go with the Air Powers one instead of the Impervious to Energy one. That is fine for you to go ahead and make the changes to your sheet.

I am!

That's just it; I can't think of anything else for Snowfall to do for half a year. None of us are crafters. I'm not sure what to do with this opportunity. Besides just passing the time (with giving Tai Chi classes), what else is open to us? Is there a way to better our characters during this time somehow?

You guys will be getting a sizable cash award from Lord Brazamal, probably delivered to Snowfall as he is the one that will have the easiest time getting back to Dweomer to check in.
Shopping! Oh boy! =)

Because if not, I guess I'll just have Snowfall go shopping, help with the bar, do the Tai Chi classes, and spend the rest of his free time going back to Japan and running messages for Inari?

While I don't want to drop too many hints about the next part of the story, I will let you guys do the following for the time skip:

Add two new skills at a level one proficiency, which is always a good thing.
or get one additional tattoo instead of the two skills.
and you get a total of 3 million credits from Brazamal that can be banked or spent as you wish.

Equipment wise, all of you will be getting the chance to add to your character sheets some nice stuff, especially Eron who is in need of some good armor to put your MDC level up closer to that of Terra and Snowfall when they activate their Invulnerability tattoos. This is a part of the upcoming story, so you don't have to pay for the goodies you are about to be offered.

A question about the bar idea; is that going to be located in Dweomer on Rifts Earth, or on Erin Nova?

To answer the question of where the bar will be located, could I invest in one of the Dimensional Rift tattoos to help us shift back and forth between Erin Nova and Earth so Snowfall doesn't have to shoulder the costs of the PPE and temporary PE loss for the use of the tattoo?

Are you looking at this one?

Silhouettes of People Inside an Opened Rift (Dimensional Teleport)

That is an expensive one, with a decent chance of failure until you level up a bit. But, I will be willing to let you take it.

Let me think about it for a bit.

So, guys! Where are we thinking of setting up shop? I can see advantages to both locations. Going to Dweomer can offer up some adventure ideas on Rifts Earth. Staying on Eris Nova gives us options of going to other dimensions. What do you guys think? Sherwood Sherwood , what is the population of Eris Nova? How many people are we dealing with here?

This dimension/planet has about 300,000 Atlanteans on it, along with a rough mix of a few other 'friendly' races numbering about 50,000 different dimensional travelers that have come to the relative sanctuary of the place.

That gives us a pretty sizable amount of customers to work with. I vote for having the bar on Eris Nova. Any seconds? Or counter arguments for it? Purr Purr I can go ahead and get the tattoo if you wish to not have to pay the costs for it all on your own all the time.

Also Sherwood Sherwood , at this point, I am looking at Terra and she is ready to be posted with her new abilities once you give me the ok to do so. All I would need to do is add the one dimensional tattoo.

Sure. You can put Terra 2.0 up on the Character Thread when you are ready.

I'll catch up with this when I have time - got a busy weekend ahead of me, but there'll be time to give it some thought!

I had a thought: Lets buy our own bar! We have plenty of money to do so, hiring up a staff and manager to run the place, along with lots of inventory. We could then use it as the place to hang our hats between adventures!
Sounds good, but I'd dream a little bit bigger than that. A place to hang out is all well and good - but if something remains of us in the end, I'd want it to be more than just a bar. Could we maybe expand that plan to build up something like an adventurer guild around the tavern? You know, add a few practice areas, offer connections, make it a place that'll not just offer comfort, but helps to spread our success around to let others do some good in the world as well? You know, we brought some of those cat shapeshifters with us. We might relocate the ratfolk. Maybe some of those could form the beginning of our legacy? An order of sorts, just not with the rigorous limitations of the cyber-knights? Let our money help take care of the smaller problems while we tackle the largest ones ourselves? Train the youth when there's a break?

I'd say that Terra's home soil sounds like a good place to set up things; we can always spread out further later on. It wouldn't be possible to set up a permanent portal, would it? If it's possible, we could set up several other entrances in other dimensions and places on Earth...

As for Eron: I'd want him to do some research (read: mostly ask a few people about it) on ways to reach immortality. As a long-term goal. He's halfway to understand the world's 'truth' when I let him pick the level-8-phobia. He'd want to make sure that he gets there to live on and spread the knowledge, and make use of it as well. Age happens to be a way how evil will triumph over him eventually, and he doesn't want that to happen. So: Looking into rituals to leave the mortal body behind. Or to make it immortal. That sort of thing. Just has to work for a Crazy, too.

I'll think about the character decisions etc later - shouldn't be hard to find use for two skills. Didn't we have access to some kind of fencing? Eron might want to pick up something in that regard, given the downtime... make his fighting style even less predictable. If I get access to a decent armor, I might want to drop the whole Glitterboy idea I had a while back... feels like it lost some appeal without Daisie, and doesn't quite fit his fighting style... but that really depends on what Sherwood has waiting for me. Hype!

The house rule of getting a new skill each level is one that I did not pull into this from the start. I had not noticed that on your character sheet, so I have to thank you for being honest and bringing it up yourself - even if it makes you lose skills. Kudos to you, my friend.

In order to keep things fair, I will either have to give everyone a skill per level and replace their current skill progression, or on the other hand have you dump those computer skills you were talking about. Hmm. I like the one-per-level house rule that has been used in not only your game, but in Psychie's games, too. I probably would have gone with that house rule from the beginning if I had thought of it waaay back then when I first rolled this game out, so let's go with it.

Silanon Silanon and Psychie Psychie The two of you will probably get another skill or two that you can pick for your characters. Check it out and let me know what you go with.
So - I'm about to catch up with the level-up from way back then... question about this house rule:

Eron got one wp, two skills at lvl 3,and two skills at lvl 6 - being at 8th level, that means that he'd get two more skills for applying the house rule, right? Or is the wp skill counted separately?

With the house rule we're using, you get a skill every level, not including the free ones I'm letting you pick up for the time skip. So you should have a total of eight skills from leveling up and two more from what I'm letting you pick up for free.

In that case, I messed up my count because I didn't account for a skill at level 1 - whoops. Thanks for the clarification! That means that I have one more skill than I thought... that rule works out damn well for me, Eron is pretty skill-starved, it feels like. How much does it cost to pick up HEMA? 4 or 5? That feels like something Eron should pick up, if only because he can use half of the styles by just shifting the form of his sword... Dann, would Snowfall be up for a bit of fencing?
