Fantasy Reception of the Cysics

Kam grabbed the stickfigure off his shoulder and held it before him. "Huh. Do you have a name?" It looked at him curiously, and then shook its head. "Would you like a name?" It nodded. "Uh......" He thought about the traits the stickfigure had shown so far. "Hmm....characters you remind me of...." He thought for another moment, oblivious to the fact that the other people had disappeared. "How about.....Max?" It nodded. Kam smiled and set 'Max' down. "All right! Wait, where did everybody else go?" He looked around. Max looked around as well, and then began walking off. Kam looked at it, and ran after it. "H-hey! Wait up!"

Vitale had been sitting quietly off to the side as he watched everyone. He grabbed his breath and galloped after everyone else. He couldn't stand being alone. He turned around and the shadow had been following him. The shadow immediately ducked and hid from his view. Vitale gave a small chuckle and approached the Pokémon guy. "So, I'm not going crazy, right? You are real?..."

Kam turned in surprise as a voice came from behind him. "Wha?!" He took a deep breath to calm his nerves. "Er...I believe so...I mean...a person in a dream could say they're real, but I don't think I could convince you that I am actually real if you didn't believe me..." Max skidded to a stop and came back, looking curious.

Vitale chuckled. "I guess that would be true." He bumped into the guy. He backed up and immediately started apoligizing. Then, he looked ahead to see what the boy was looking at. "What?..."

Kan looked back at the person who bumped onto him. He hadn't fallen over or even lost his balance, but it did surprise him as to how close the boy was. Then Kan realized the boy was staring at Max, who had pulled out a skateboard and was riding along....the air? Was he doing flips on an invisible half pipe or something? "Huh?"

"Dude! Cool! It's like a creepy, scary, freaky guy doing tricks!" After a moment of smiling and impressiv emovement sof the new figure, Vitale begins to realize that this one was creepy, too. With a small whimper, he backed and there was a shadow beside him. Turning his head to see, the creature scared him and the creature even seemed to be frightened. Vitale screamed and fell over. The shadowy figure ran off with its body shifting wildly. Vitale caught himself being a coward and stood back up, nervously laighing. "I... I'm sorry... Again..."

Kan turned to look at the boy, confused. There didn't seem to be anything there, so why was he scared? With a slight shrug, Kan held out his hand. "By the way, what's your name?"

Vitale gave a slight half smile out of embarassment. "Vi.. Vitale. And you?" He put his hand out slowly and cautiously as if he was about to pet a crocodile. "Sorry for all the, uhm, screaming.. And stuff.."

Kan shrugged. "I...I'm used to it. Mainly because of the games I play." He chuckled. "I'm Kam."

"Nice to meet you, Kan. Play what games?" Vitale was glad that perhaps he could distract his mind from the freakshow happening all about him. Perhaps, he could even make a friend. Maybe...

Kam gritted his teeth in thought. It was a habit he'd developed, though most found it strange. "Well...stuff like Resident Evil...but I honestly prefer Final Fantasy and 'smasher' games."

Max walked back over to the two, a curious expression on its face. It understood the meaning of the words, but it didn't make any sense...and was that? Yes, it was. Max turned to watch the hallway suspiciously, worried about what it seemed to have sensed.

Vitale gave a little chuckle. "Final Fantasy is pretty amazing. But it's not even the real "final" to the fantasy. Sorry.. That was bad. That was just awful. Ignore what I just said." He then seen the skateboarding guy and decided that it may be some sort of pet. Maybe. It was really dark in here. For all he knew, it could be some sort of humanoid bird. 'Where is here?' he thought to himself.

Down the hall a bit, a shadow slunk along the filthy walls. It was shaking it's head at such a bad joke. He had no idea what was sad, but he knew a bad one when he seen it. Its shoulders? were also shaking, so it looked as if it was laughing. Then, it noticed Max and tried to hide. He felt a chill up his "spine." What is that?

Kam laughed. "Yes, it was a very bad joke, but bad jokes can be quiet funny." He patted Vital on the back, forgetting that they'd only just met. "I'd say that was well executed. Too bad I'm not recording all this..."

Max squinted into the shadows of the hall, still trying to figure out what that strange presence was. Suddenly, one of the shadows moved, attempting to hide. He smiled. Got yah. Max quickly ran toward where the shadow was hiding. He wasn't sure if the shadow was friendly or not, but that could be discussed later, right? Besides, it was giving him a weird feeling. Max jumped off a wall, flipping through the air to land right in front of the other creature. The acrobatics were totally unnecessary, but added to the coolness factor.

Vitale beamed. "Really?! You're one cool guy, Kam! Usually people just shake their heads at me. It's nice to have a friendly face in such a scary place! Hey! That rhymed!" Of course, Vitale was wildly using his hands to speak, so there were cut ins of him expressing the fact that he hit his hand against the wall. He had even hit himself in the process.

The shadowy figure (I'm just going to call it Shy.) ran back and forth flailing around as Max appeared. It most definitely was exaggerating his panic, but how else to express it. He doesn't necessarily have a mouth. He then admitted defeat and fell down at Max's feet as if offering the other figure to do as he may. He gave off this feeling of fear, but he soon felt a bit more embarrassed. Max didn't exactly comeat him in an angry fashion..

Kam was trying his hardest to keep a straight face, but at last, he just couldn't hold it back any longer. He started laughing, a chuckle at first, but it slowly grew. After about a minute of uncontrollable laughter, Kam managed to catch his breath. "You...are one of the funniest...people...I have ever met." He straightened and cracked a grin, attempting to avoid laughing again.

Max looked down at the shadow, an eyebrow raised. After a moment, he spoke in a raspy tone, cautiously, as if just trying it out for the first time. "Hello."

Kam froze. Despite the voice coming from a ways down the hall, he could hear it loud and clear, permeating through his mind. And with that, he promptly hid behind Vitale, eyes wide and shoulders trembling slightly.

Vitale was confused for a moment, and immediately wanted to hide as well. However, there was nothing left to hide behind. Instead, he covered his face and gave an uninterpretable whine of words. He was terrified. Afterall, he couldn't see anybody down there. Not to mention: that means that the "animals" weren't... birds. He gave another yelp and whine.

Shy blinked back at Max. He hadn't realized that they could talk. "H," he tried. He then attempted again. "Hi..." his voice was wavering and h esounded quiet, but he was proud to get something out.

Slowly ,Vitale backed up into Kam. He felt so embarrassed. He was almost positive that his red shade would shine in even this dark.

Kam twitched slightly. After a moment of pause from when Shy spoke, he abruptly curled up into a ball, hands over his ears. "Stop it!"

Max smiled, glad that the two of them had unlocked the ability of speech. Then he heard Kam cry out. Confused, Max turned to look at the boy, having been unaware of the effect of his words. "W...what wrong?" He cocked his head to look at Kan, completely oblivious to the fact Kam couldn't hear him. "Stop what?"

Vitale gave a small scream and fell backwards, tripping over Kam in the process. He stared out into the dark. He swore he could see something, but what!? He closed his eyes as tightly as possible. However, it didn't work. He could still see the shapes floating about because of his mind. His eyes flew open, and he decided that it would be best to look anywhere else. He glanced over at Kam, and his heart felt for his fear. This was his friend. He couldn't leave him like this.

Shy could feel a new emotion coming off of the young man. It felt a little like sadness and lost hope with a small feeling of despair: Fear. He mumbled to Max. "He's scared..... What could have-..? Oh.. We probably scared them..."

Vitale stood up and searched the filthy floors for something, anything. He thought he found something like a pebble. He chucked it towards the voices. "Leave him alone! Go away! Shoo!"

Shy gave a small sigh. "W-what now..?" His voice still new and wavering, he looked to the one who led him to speach. He looked to Max, his new teacher.

Max shrugged. He hadn't thought that human senses were so weak, but judging by how far off the rock was from its target the confusion in the other boy's eyes... "Maybe it's the shadows?" He thought for a moment. The boy whom he felt some sort of...link? With was still trembling on the ground. Something they'd done had scared him, but what? Max's antics hadn't frightened him before, so...it must have been something to do with sound. "It's.... A word, or maybe the way we spoke."

Shy's mind reeled, but the only conclusion he could think of was that he was the reason for the boy's terror. "He didn't freak until I said.. ohh... well,... yeah..." Shy's voice was still raspy, and he felt awful for speaking again. He was unsure if it was his voice or the word.

Vitale noted the fact that they were indeed communicating, but he could barely hear them over the pounding in his ears.

Max sighed. He glanced over to the two boys, still wide-eyed and fearful. "I believe I have an idea." His voice wasn't as raspy as Shy's sounding more and more like a normal kid with a strange accent, but speaking was starting to make him tired. It was rather strange. Max began walking toward Vitale and Kam, partially unraveling his white scarf. In a gesture of peace, he offered the end to them. "Our...apologies for having frightened you." He coughed at the end, surprising himself. Maybe he should layoff with chattiness?

Kam uncurled slightly, mostly due to his body starting to relax then to him hearing or seeing Max approach. In fact, he couldn't hear anything, his hands were pressed to his ears so tight.

Vitale blinked in shock. He shakily brought his hand up to the scarf. "Th-thanks?..." He caught his voice squeaking an dcoughed to try to calm i tback down. He blinked at the creature and realised that there was nothing to be afraid of. Well, at least these two. If they wanted to hurt them, they would have done it already. "Please... Next time let people know you can speak."

Here, Shy had quietly approached. His voice was just starting to round out, but his head felt fuzzy from so much conversation. "Didn't know ourselves. Dizzy. I'll be silent now...." Shy then, shook his head back and forth to try and clear his mind from the buzzing feeling.

Vitale nodded . He pretty much understood. Somewhat. "O-okay then...." He looked back at Kam. "You okay now?" Vitale was still a bit shaken up. He never stood up against anything before. He felt powerful, yet shaky. Kind of the way you feel after a roller coaster ride.

Max nodded in agreement with Shy's statement. In one quick motion, he wrapped the scarf around his neck and walked over to Kam. Obviously, the human boy was currently oblivious to the outside world, having cut off two of his senses. Max sighed, and poked him. Kam opened one eye warily. Everything seemed okay. He stood up quickly and brushed himself off, embarrassed. "S-sorry about that."

Vitale giggled nervously. "At least, you didn't fall over someone..." He chuckled a bit more. He then looked over the shadows with a small shudder. He felt bad for it, too. However, they were still creepy. Shy gave a big grin, but you can only tell by the way his eyes scrunched up and how he tilted his head.

Kam nodded, his shaking subsiding as he pushed his fears back into the receses of his memory. After all, they still had no idea where they were, and that was far more important. "So...where should we go? Left or right? I prefer left, but not everyone does..."

Max yawned, stretched, and turned to Shy. In a whisper, he asked "Isn't Left unlucky in Roman?"
