One day earth was visited by a race of sentient warships called the Fleet of Fog. These warships had completely conquered the seas of earth, effectively cutting off the countries from each other. They have also destroyed underwater communication cables and comm satellites, making each country alone. The Fleet of Fog had decimated every navy on the planet that wasn't recalled back to their countries, so only a few ships survived. The Fleet of Fog had advanced weaponry and technology, most of the Fleet were autonomous warships, but the more "advanced" ships had AI that came in a core, these cores were their "hearts and souls" these allowed them to create a physical body to use to study humanity.
As time went on the Fleet left humanity alone as long as humans didn't try to cross the ocean or launch communication satalites. The Fleet got this directive from their Admirality code, which was governed by 2 superbattleships, after one betrayed the other, a small group of Japan based Fleet ships developed anomolies in their programming, which led to the total defeat of The Fleet.
After 25 years humanity and Fleet of Fog mental models cooperated into peace. All ships with mental models were granted amnesty and allowed to start lives how they wish, while ships that didn't became "feral" and wandered the oceans occasionally attacking unguarded ships (even cruise ships). This led for humanity to develop their own ships with their own mental models using tech shared from the Fleet of Fog, these models worked with human crews to ensure peak efficiency and combat.
But unbeknownst to everyone, a secret organization was making a superior ship and mental model, which was the offspring of a human and mental model, but wouldn't tell the parents who were out searching for their child. One day once the ship was complete, and the child's mind and Fog core were linked with the ship she broke out of the facility and vanished in the north atlantic ocean.
The world governments heard of the news and had the secret organisation terminated and a fleet commisioned to hunt down this rogue ship. You have been recruited in the U.S. operated UN fleet "The Sea Blades".
