Fantasy Race of Twelve

Oh wow, Ai hates this Marcus boy already. Young and arrogant and rude, it was easy to tell that he might after the leader position and probably also want to become the best of all twelve. The Tiger, he said. Personally, Ai rather sees the Dragon becoming their leader. In old tales, the Dragon could've reached the palace first if it's not because taking a detour to help humans who need help. That kind of person would be the perfect protector. Unlike that boy, and unlike her.

She stood there watching as the Russian girl, Katherine something, and her bodyguard gives their betting money to the boy who stood next to her and then watch as the Tiger cub hit an invisible wall when he tried to leave the arena. What was that? Something magical? Ai guessed that means no going back, even if you just here just to check things out.

Then, an older male entered the arena. He is nice and polite, greeting them with a soothing tone. Next, a French girl who also excitedly joined in the group and making eye contacts with all of them.

"One, two, three... Six of us? Where's the rest?" Ai asked the important question.

? Kmiko Kokonose ?

Mood: Curious

Location: Colosseum

The blonde walked out of the airport, sighing heavily as her backpack weighed down on her. Kimiko didn't know what she should've brought so the things in there were stuff like food, her (adopted) fathers' machete for self defence purposes and water. The necessary items if she got lost... Like a compa- Oh wait, she had thought it over before and told herself she didn't need a compass. Kimiko's pace quickened as she pulled out her phone, clicking on her map app to find the darn Colosseum. After a bit of walking, Kimiko found her destination. It was a bit old, looking like it would crumble t any second but upon closer inspection, Kimiko confirmed that she wouldn't be crushed if this ever fell. As KImiko stepped into the building she got a feeling of unease, and whenever she had this feeling, bad things happened. The female stopped in her tracks, not moving to contemplate her situation. After a bit of thinking, Kimiko's mouth turned into a straight line as she continued walking, risks were being taken but Kimiko was extremely curious at this point.
'Protect Humanity?' these two words replayed in her head dozens of times before she came across a group of young-ish looking people, they looked like they're here for the same reason.

Story Teller

Precisely seven guardians had gathered in the Colosseum. They were all different to each other; the rooster was calculative, the dragon showed authority and the tiger was evidently arrogant. Whilst some showed a serious attitude, others showed little to no care about the situation. Obscurity was the main cause. A common question in the players' mind was one; from what do they have to protect humanity from?

Just as Kimiko arrived into the Colosseum, a flash of light quickly engulfed the area. The empty Colosseum was no more; in the empty seats of what is also called the Flavian Amphitheatre sat people, dressed in garments of an ancient timeline. Magic had brought them to what seemed to be the past-- or maybe, even the future. Not out of the question was also the present.

Sitting on top of the King's throne was a blonde man with blue eyes, with an air of authority around him. He sat up from the comfortable seat, and with a flick of his finger, the crowds were no more. It seemed like they were mere ilusions, created only to provide the 'Colosseum feel'. In truth, the players were alone. The Dragon's bodyguards, gone. Normal people who was taking a stroll along the Colosseum, gone. Everyone was gone, but the seven players. Soon enough, he would begin to speak.

"Welcome, Players. To the first stage."

The man scanned over and only found seven participants, which was weird. However, he continued speaking.

"As you may have known already, you are tasked with protecting humanity. However, being sent such a mysterious letter out of nowhere, I imagine you must be confused."

The man leaped from upstairs where the king's throne was, and presented himself in front of the players. He was quick and nimble, as if he was a rat.

"You see, about twelve thousand years ago, evil emerged and threatened all of humanity. The Jade Emperor, smart with wits, thwarted evil-- more commonly called The Old One-- by calling the twelve guardians together. They were invincible, but so was evil. The source of evil, unfortunately, is from the inside, not the outside. That is the reason why there is not even one percent chance in completely eliminating evil. Keeping the evil at bay, however, is another story. That is your duty-- if you pass the test, anyway."

The man gulped, probably a side effect from saying that many words. He continued, nevertheless.

"However, The Old One has another strategy now. He formed this little group, Arkhaios, and gave the members magical power. You're probably thinking now:
Well, what does that have to do with me? Well, to be short, they're out for your lifes. They will do anything to keep you from protecting humanity. Alas, only the twelve-- well, seven now-- of you can protect humanity. If you're not here, then I'm afraid that the world will be no more as well. Your families, even the Arkhaios themselves, they will be no more. The Old One is selfish, and wants the world only for himself. Isn't that just so selfish? Anyway, I know what you're thinking: Then why not give us powers too, you ass? Well, the answer is, you can't have powers yet. And we have our own reasons for creating trials for you before you become Guardians."

He inspected everyone, scanned them for a while then continued. Man. This person was not going to stop, was he?

"By the way, you're standing in the first trial right now. Your hint:
Solve the Colosseum. From now on, using the barrier that I have erected, there will be no one to exit or to enter the Colosseum. Also, your actions inside the barrier will not effect the real world. I don't care what you do, dig the ground, search the walls, kill your fellow teamnates-- whatever you see fit, follow the hint and pass the first trial, with seven people or not.

Also, if you're asking who I am, I'm the old man who called upon the first ever guardians. Yep, the all-around
awesome Jade Emperor. And with that, I bid my farewell. Have fun!"

(Players are now to check every bit of the Colosseum. I will be assisting you in what you find among the walls, upon digging the ground or maybe even killing someone. I leave it all to your imagination.)

A flash of light, and it looked like that they have been magically (not a big surprise anymore) into what could be another dimension or realm. A man, a king, stood on his throne and greeted them. He began to give a proper explanation, not much but enough, of what's the reason they are here. They are chosen, yes, but turns out they still need to pass a test. They are candidates, instead of being the replacement of the old guardians. The old king continues to speak, and Ai noticed how he ran out of breath several times. Maybe of one of them are going to be chosen to replace him too, greetings the new candidate for several decades.

And then he told them that the entire Colosseum is a puzzle, a giant Rubik cube.

"...I don't care what you do, dig the ground, search the walls, kill your fellow teammates-- whatever you see fit, follow the hint and pass the first trial, with seven people or not."

Gods, do he really need to say that? Ai took a quick glance at the tiger cub, the most dangerous of them all, and quietly opened her small bag. If the boy is stupid enough to think he could take one of them without resistance... But why should Ai try to save other people that she just met five to ten minutes ago? Because it's her responsibility as a team member? Or as a human being? She'll decide later, if the boy is truly stupid enough to do that.

The Jade Emperor, the man who conducted the race and the one who appointed the current zodiacs according to old tales, then tells them to have fun. Ai took a deep sigh and started looking around while occasionally looked around in case someone think that they could sneak up on her. What does the Emperor meant by 'solve the colosseum'. Colosseum was indeed an arena that used by gladiators to fight to death, but that does not mean they should. Jade Emperor is certainly not that crazy. Plus, the old man told them to follow the hint. But where is the hint?

Alicia Red

Needless to say, Alicia was a bit late. Her parents decided to throw a going away party with her, her friends, and her family due to not knowing how long it'd be until they saw her again. She didn't really mind the attention, but if everything was as important as it was supposed to be then she really probably shouldn't of stayed up until 2 when her flight was at 6. Of course, she overslept and missed her flight by three hours meaning it had to be rescheduled for 12. Nonetheless she caught this flight after telling her parents goodbye.

She was both nervous yet excited, she'd never been to Rome before though she knew about the Colliseum. Luckily her parents had given her some money for food and such so she'd be able to look around Rome if she had time. The entire 32 hour flight she was wondering who else would be chosen. Were they her age? Were they younger? Older? What were they like? Would they even like her? She hoped they would..and hoped at-least a few would be around her age, or at-least not all of them would be in their thirties or something.

When she arrived in Rome it was decently late, probably 8PM. So rather than go to the Colliseum she opted to head to the hotel room her parents had booked for her and get some dinner and rest, she had slept maybe 5 hours the entire flight there due to the excitement of it all. Of course, the hotel owner was a bit skeptical of Alicia both by how she was dressed and how young she was, but when she showed him the letter he had no choice but to believe her.

After dinner she pretty much passed out on her bed from lack of sleep, which was probably a good thing seeing as she didn't want to be late. She woke up the following day at 10 AM and decided to do a bit of sight seeing, she doubted most if any of the others were from or extremely close to Rome anyway. Heck some of them might of had her luck with getting a flight.

At around 3PM she decided to make her way to the Colliseum deeming that was probably enough time for at-least someone to show up. However when she reached it the place was completely deserted. Was she late? Did she miss the trial and already lose? A worried expression on her face she entered the Colliseum and looked around, "
Zdravstvuyte(Hello)! Is anyone here?! Am ya(I) late!" She called out before sighing. Oh well..might as well look around the Colliseum.

Genevieve

Falling silent as the man on the throne messed with their minds, she bit her lip nervously, slightly worried about how this would turn out.

"Solve the Colosseum?" she muttered incredulously, scanning her previous memories of exploring the large arena before meeting her fellow guardians. "It's a puzzle, at least."

Her eyes widened as the man continued speaking. "
...kill your fellow teammates..." He proceeded to reveal his identity and asked them to have fun. She didn't care if he was the imperial ruler of the heavens, this guy was a little nuts.

Maybe it was a side effect of being a heavenly body. Who knew?

She glanced around the group warily, subtly shifting into a stance that would make it easier to sprint away if any of them suddenly went psycho on everyone present. The Russian lady who had a bodyguard earlier seemed really scary, but Gen knew she was probably nice. Somewhat. All of them were probably nice in some way.

"So, um, anyone up for some puzzle-solving snacks? I brought cookies." she said cheerfully, reaching into her bag for the tin as she jittered nervously, waiting for some sort of response that would indicate none of them would suddenly pull out a knife and go on a massacre. The Jade What's-his-face hadn't specificied whether killing someone would make them permanently dead, like dead-dead. And she wasn't ready to find out.

"And also, let's just
not make any rash decisions here that we would... ah... regret. I'm positive we could solve this without hurting each other! I'm Genevieve, by the way. Genevieve Bellaire, and I'm afraid I didn't really catch many of your names." She didn't know whether she would be dealing with a tough crowd here, but her instincts said yes.

If Sangwoo had expected anything to happen during this period of time in the colosseum, a seemingly all-knowing old man showing up wasn't exactly his first guess. At first, he stayed silent after the man left. He knew everyone was thinking about the same thing he was, the foreboding possibility of having to kill someone here. It might not have been so scary to a few people in the building, but he hoped it wouldn't have to get that point.

"I agree, we shouldn't do anything hasty just yet. It's completely possible for there to be a completely non-lethal way to get through this," He said confidently, nodding his head. He hoped that his confident tone would convince the group, himself included. While he had admitted to himself that this would be dangerous on the plane to Rome, he thought it'd be best if that part would start sometime after the first segment. It would make the whole ordeal seem even more difficult and displeasing if it started off in such a hostile way. It would also be a bit unsettling to kill or be killed by one of the people who he's supposed to work with, so all in all, he just didn't want it to resort to violence.

Naomi Lemay

After finally escaping her father's very, very long lecture and even more annoying sobbing, Naomi stood outside the airport in Quebec, eyeing the expensive as all hell ticket in her hand and the weird letter the rested behind it. With the third huge sigh of her day, she set about making sure everything she needed was with her, then made her way into the airport. As she absently followed the crowds and signs, she thought about this whole 'quest', as her father so kindly put it. 'gladiators of ancient Rome, huh? Gather with the fellow players... Sounds fun.' She pondered, though she definitely already knew where she was going, she wondered who else would be there. Who else was chosen, again as her father put it. After what seemed like forever of waiting, she boarded her plane, and settled in for the almost nine hour plane ride she was in for.

Naomi napped on and off during the plane ride, and when she wasn't napping, she read the letter. Again, and again. They landed in Rome, much to her relief, and she got off the plane, found her bag, then made her way out of the airport. However, it dawned on her that she had no idea
how to get to the Colosseum past that, and she drew to a stop just outside the main building. 'Great. More hard earned money down the drain...' She grumbled mentally as she hailed a cab, though she was actually still amazed that she was even in Rome, of all places, to begin with. "To the Colosseum please." She told the driver after he asked, and settled back, watching out the window as he drove, taking in the city she'd never have come to normally. She arrived some time later, and payed the man, then waved with a thankful smile as he drove off again after she'd gotten out with her bag.

The sight before her was one she'd only ever seen in books, and Naomi stood in awe for a few minutes, before shaking her head to free herself of the stupor. One foot after the other, she trekked into the Colosseum, turning in place a bit and looking at the many, many ancient seats, before focusing in on the people, trying to spot the other 'players'. There was really
No one else here. She sighed, her smile fading. "Anyone here? Annnybody?" She called out, semi-soft but loud enough to have her voice ring out across and throughout the Colosseum. She'd really been looking forward to meeting the other 'players', and the fact that she saw no one so far was really getting to her mood.

Alicia Red

Alicia had taken to exploring the Colliseum seeing as it seemed she'd either arrived early or arrived late. Either way she assumed people would be coming by eventually and she didn't have her parents pay for her to come to Rome for nothing, might as well look around and enjoy the sights while she was here right? She hadn't tried to leave yet so she was unaware of the freaky jedi force wall blocking people from leaving. Instead she was focused on exploring the seats, the seat where the king guy would sit, and pretty much every inch of the Colliseum.

Eventually she got bored and was kind of getting hungry despite eating breakfast. She guessed climbing around on junk tended to do that to you. She was just about ready to give up when she heard someone call out. Someone else came! Either they were both late, or people were just starting to arrive and Alicia had been very early. Either way she clambered down the seats before making her way down into the battlefield area. "
Hai! Vy were chosen too?" She asked as she waved excitedly and jogged across the field to her.

"
Ya was worried ya was late and everyone left already. But now that vy are here ya guess ya was wrong! Awesome!" She told her. "Ya Alisa. What about vy?" She asked pretty much immediately after, grinning up at her with childish excitement. Naomi at this point would more than likely be wondering why the hell a little girl was here, and for good reason. Alisa herself was wandering the same thing, really.
