Project Purity (DrTrollinski & Greg2344)

"Same." Ivan replied. Daniel smiled and took a bottle of rate from the fridge and poured them both a glass and then handed it off to them both, smiling.

"There you go..." He said. "Do you guys like my dad?" He asked.

--

As soon as they were gone, Paul had Walker in his office and sat down opposite him so that they could talk. Walker simply handed him the letter from his pocket and looked away.

"Oh, son..." Paul said sympathetically as he finished reading it. Walker started crying again and Paul quickly pulled him into a hug. He felt terrible for him - it had been too long since Walker relied on him for support like this.

"Yeah your dad is a good man!" Jax said to Daniel, in a cheery tone. Jax turned to Ivan and said "so where are we heading next? Which vault?" Jax was worried about the next vault, what if the enclave were there or already got there before them and brought the core to the mysterious "Raven Rock".

(Time for some OC)

"We need to go to Vault Ninety, but that's in Pennsylvania." He sighed. "I recommend we stay here for a few days. It's going to be quite a walk to get there." He said.

"What's Pennsylvania?" Daniel asked.

"It's a State, buddy. North of the one we're in now." He explained with a smile. Daniel looked confused but then just shrugged it off. He wasn't good with geography. "I'm not sure how safe it is, but it's the closest Vault to us... How many more reactor cores do we need, one, right?" He asked. They had two after the most recent vault, and he recalled walker saying that they needed two more before that one.

Wow. One core left, eh? Crazy stuff. "Where are we taking the cores after that?" He asked.

"WHAT!" Jax yelled, "how far is the walk to get there and back?" He said. After a few minutes he calmed down and said "we gotta bring the cores to-" it just occurred to him that maybe he shouldn't tell the enclave member where at, but then he brushed off that thought and said "rivet city." Because he trusted Ivan now. Jax was ready to leave walkers town now, he was just waiting for walker and Daniel to be ready.

"Like I said, I recommend we stay here for a while until the kid can walk properly again. I think it'd be better that way, don't you? It's a long walk. We can't carry him all the way there... Plus, I think it'll do the kids good to have some time with their father, don't you?" He asked, scratching the back of his head. "Walker was telling me how long they've been gone... It's a long time to spend away from your dad, I know that much. Just give them a couple of days to take a break, and then we'll leave. I think we could do with a break as well." He added. Daniel was just simply smiling. He liked that idea.

--

".. Your dad was right." Paul smiled as he gently rubbed Walker's back to try and console him while he sobbed and hugged him tight. ".. You've always been what your father wanted you to be, son... He called you a hero, and remember, as soon as you walked through my door that day when you were both so young, you became my hero. You did help people - you helped me, you always help Daniel, and you've helped a lot of other people here, too." He whispered quietly.

Jax didn't like to just sit around, he just wanted to get this damned job done and make his caps. "Ok fine." Is all he said. Jax also thought In His head but didn't say out loud, because he didn't want to make Daniel feel bad "why can't this kid walk yet? All he did was get stabbed by a knife in the thigh, where as I have had my leg shot multiple times and was walking in a few days, or even right after it happened." Jax said "hey I'm gonna go sit out front." He got up out of his chair and walked out front and sat on the front steps of the home.

Walker eventually accepted that he hadn't really done much wrong. His father told him that taking revenge didn't matter at all - he knew what it was like. He was still proud of him for being who he was, and he still loved him all the same. That put Walker's mind at ease so he got up and decided to go and sit out on the porch and watch over the town. Then he saw Jax out there.

"Oh, hey..." He smiled weakly and quickly wiped his eyes. "This is a nice town, ain't it? You should come back here with us and settle down once we're done... I think you could meet your future wife here, y'know." He chuckled and gently nudged his shoulder.

"Yeah, haha. I don't think that'll ever happen. Matter of fact I don't even know if I want it to happen. It's too much of a responsibility, every time I step out into the wasteland I have a chance to die and never return, and I don't want anyone worrying about me." Jax said. It was actually kind of not true though, deep down inside he wanted a wife and kids, and he wanted someone to worry about him. No one cared if he died up until he met walker and Daniel, and in a few years they'd forget all about him anyway... Jax looked at walker and said "so what is there to do around here? I'm not one to just sit around, any bars or anything?"

"Don't be ridiculous." He smiled. "You wouldn't have to go out into the wastes if you settled down here... We have runners that go out if people need them to." He smiled. "And yeah, plenty to do around here... Bars, darts, pool, a bit of this and that." He chuckled a little.

He thought to himself for a moment as he bowed his head, but then looked back up at him.

"It'd be good if you came back with us, Jax. I mean that." He gave a sad smile and put a hand on his shoulder.

"I don't know yet, I'll think about it." Jax said in reply to walker. "I'll be around the town if you need me." Jax said before heading off. Jax went to the local bar and sat down at the counter. A young woman appeared as the waitress and said "what do ya need?" Jax ordered a whiskey and thanked the woman. After awhile of drinking he went to the bathroom, when he returned to his seat and note was placed on it and it read, "We Know, Jax. Outback of town at 12:00 AM, Alone."

It disturbed Jax and he looked around the room quickly. No one stood put of place or was looking at Jax, everyone appeared to be normal wastelanders doing normal wastelander things. He wasn't just going to yell out "hey who did that!" Because he'd look dumb and that wouldn't get the person to confess anyway. He decided he'd have to do what the note said.

By eleven o'clock when Daniel, Ivan, and his dad were all in bed, something felt very very wrong. Jax wasn't here, and there were so many different heartbeats surrounding them. Where was Jax? Something was wrong. Why was he out this late? He may have been hitting the town, but for this long? All day? No. He didn't like it.

He went out of the house, his guns loaded, and he was wearing black clothes and had a black balaclava under his face if he needed to lift it. Christ, if Jax was getting mugged or was lying dead somewhere, Walker would stop at nothing.

After all. Jax was family.

He went to the church and made his way inside, and then climbed up the bell tower and looked out over the town. He needed to try and see Jax somewhere - he was looking in the direction where he last saw Jax going into town.

Now it was time to wait. Wait and hope for him to come back.

When it was 12:00 AM, Jax went out of the town and went behind it. It was a cold night in the wasteland and he had a feeling that something bad would happen. When he arrived out back of the town there was a man wearing a trench coat and a cowboy hat and his face wasn't visible. Just just said "hello?"

The stranger answered "hey Jax."

Jax said "oh come on, I don't have time for games, who the hell are you?"

The stranger took his hat off and threw it on the ground beside him. Jax then said "Medz! I didn't think you would still be alive." Medz was his best friend when he was a raider and was in the old Polaroid photo Jax found at Wheaton armory, he was the one on the other side of Jax with his arm around him.

"Yeah Jax, let's get back together! We can run this town!" Medz said.

"Your a bad man Medz." Jax said.

"So are you." Medz said, coldly.

"No." Is all Jax said. Jax pulled out his rifle and shot Medz right in the chest. Medz was on the ground bleeding out and said "w.ww. Why? Your betraying me, who you spent years with, for two kids and an enclave soldier?"

"They're good people Medz, I'm not going to let you hurt them." Jax said.

"I guess Zed was wrong about you." Medz said.

Jax didn't even want to answer that, he put his rifle away and pulled out his machete. He knelt down, right in Medz face and said, infuriated "you don't know me or Zed." Then he swung his machete and hit Medz right in the head, instantly killing him.

Walker heard the shot and then turned around and looked off into the distance. Heartbeat. He ran for it and dashed out of the church and then over towards where he heard the shot.

He saw Jax take a machete to a man's head. He ran up and looked over the guy and then gulped as he looked up at Jax.

"Jax, we need to leave. If they find us out here, we're done for." He grabbed him by the hand and tugged him a little. "Come on! Back to the house. We weren't here." He said.

Jax stood there motionless looking at Medz's corpse. Then all of a sudden walker ran up to him and said something about how they have to get out of here, that knocked Jax out of his daze. "What are you doing here!" Jax yelled. Jax put his machete back on his belt and ran with walker back to the town entrance. They both went back into walkers dad's house. When they were safely inside Jax said "Don't ever do this again. Sometimes I have to do things without you! You weren't suppose to see any of that!"

"Well guess what, if they found you out there, they'd either shoot you, or put you behind bars for the rest of your life - Yeah, things are fucked up, alright?" He tossed his rifle down into the corner and then took a deep breath, ripping the balaclava away from his face. He didn't look at Jax, he simply looked at the floor. "I was actually worried about you, and I went up into the church's bell tower to look over the town to make sure you hadn't been killed, or something... You've been gone all day, and I worried, alright?" He shook his head. ".. I heard the gunshot and I came running. For all I knew, that could have been you on the floor, but it wasn't. I didn't realize it was such a bad thing for me to care, especially when I didn't know if you were alive, dying, or dead... I ain't a kid, Jax. I've seen and done things since we met that I don't think I'll forget, and..."

He paused and then opened up the living room door and took a long and shaky deep breath.

".. I'm sorry... I just--.." He closed his eyes. ".. If I see someone as family, I worry about them. I'm sorry." He choked out in sadness, and then wandered into the living room and slowly sat down on the couch and bowed his head to look at the floor while he was leaned forward and linking his hands in front of him. God, he felt like he couldn't do anything right - first he'd fucked up what his genetic father wanted him to do, and now he'd fucked things up with Jax, it seemed. Good lord, when were things going to take a turn?

Jax felt really bad after walker said that and walked away. He also saw walker as family and would have done the same thing if he was in walkers position. Jax went into the living room and sat next to walker on the couch and out his arm around him. "Look, I just didn't want you to see that. I don't want you to think I'm a killer. I'm sorry I flipped out on you. If you wondering what happened back there, it was someone from my past and he wanted to hurt you guys." Jax explained.

He turned and took a deep breath, smiling as he shook his head and closed his eyes. ".. Jesus Christ, Jax." He murmured as he hugged him and closed his eyes. "You're really good to us, I hope you realize that... Letting go of the past in a way like that's never easy." He patted his back and then rubbed it for a moment. ".. I'm sorry for getting all emotional on you, I just--.. You know... It's not been easy with what I found out today, and--.. My dad's not well. He's lost a lot of weight and he looks like he's aged ten years... I just--.. I just feel so useless, you know?" He sighed shakily and rested his head on Jax's shoulder.

Jax didn't even ask if walkers dad went to the doctor because he is the doctor, so he instead said "it really isn't your fault at all." While patting walkers shoulder. "Maybe you should stay here with him? Me and Ivan could continue project purity. You did really good, you and Daniel did. I know you're gonna say no, cause you really want to finish this through, but you might want to stay with your dad. We also don't even know what's in Pennsylvania, it could be even more dangerous then here."

"No." Walker said boldly, shaking his head. ".. We're coming with you and we're finishing this - I know Daniel wouldn't do anything else. This means... so so much to him, man." He sighed. ".. I'll talk to my dad before we leave, but me and Daniel ain't staying here after all we've been through to get to where we are..." He took hold of one of his hands and then took a deep breath, smiling faintly as he looked up at him. ".. If we do this, we do it together." He said.

Jax smiled at walker and said "good I was hoping you'd say that." Then Jax walked over to the other couch in the living room and said "hey I'm gonna go to sleep now, it's really late, we should get some rest." Shortly after that conversation Jax fell asleep on the couch.

".. Sure." He sighed and then lied back down on the couch, taking a deep breath as he did so. He set his head down on the armrest and then yawned before closing his eyes. He was quick to drift off to sleep, all while the town guards were out looking for whoever had shot and stabbed the man behind the town - they were clueless. Walker knew this place better than anyone - as an adventurous kid he'd wandered every back alley, every street and every building - sure he came close to being mugged a couple of times, but he had older friends that dealt with problems for him.

Seriously, who the fuck mugs and eight-year-old?

The next morning, Walker wasn't really feeling like he was on top of the world. He felt so empty and lonely. He wanted to see that girl again, but he was just... He felt so depressed. There was one place he almost broke his leg getting to when he was ten, but he'd been there plenty of times now - the church roof. He woke up nice and early while everyone was asleep and made his way out to the church, climbing up some boxes, and then onto the old water tank, and then onto the roof. He lied there - it was sloped, but he didn't slide off - and closed his eyes while the early-morning sun beat down on him. It felt so...

Peaceful.

Jax woke up and ate some food from his bag, then walked out of the house. He walked around the town for a little while then decided to head to the bar once again, since there was nothing else to do in this town. He arrived at the bar, but wasn't going to drink, because it was only about 9:00 AM. He sat at a table in the back and just relaxed there and listened to the music coming from the radio. A young woman came to his table and sat across from him. Jax just sat there awkwardly, then the woman said, in a playful manner "are you going to just stare at me, or are you going to say hi?"

Jax quickly said "oh sorry, hi."

She then laughed and said "hey, I'm Jen. And you are?"

Jax then just said "Jax".

"Why don't we go do something fun? This town is pretty boring." Jen said.

"Sure, like what?" Jax asked.

"We can go ahead and sit on the old church tower and just hangout. It's quite beautiful up there during the morning." Jen said.

The two of them went to the old church tower and were standing out front of it. Jax looked up at the roof of it and saw walker. "walker!" He said in his head.

"Whatsa matter with you?" Jen said.

"Nothing, let's just go to a different spot." Jax said.

The two of them then went to the center of town and sat on the benches that were there and just talked.

(I can rp the woman if you wish. Might mix things up a little.)

Walker felt... Odd, still. Things didn't feel worth it. He climbed right to the top of the roof and sat down on the edge of it, right at the front. He stared down at the ground and for once the height didn't bother him. The images of all the people he'd killed flashed into his mind and he pictured himself hitting the floor.

It felt so welcoming.

His heart was aching. He just wanted to fall after all the pain he caused and how he was some sort of fucking mutated freak who could only see every form of life. The only thing that felt worth staying for was Daniel now.

(Sure thing)

Jax was sitting at the bench with the woman, who's name he learned was Jen, and they talked.

Jax observed her then asked "so where do you come from, what's your story?" He also asked "what do you do for a living around here." He went on "me personally I come from DC and I just scavenge to survive.

".. I was born and raised here. I saw you come into town with Walker and Daniel. I still remember the day they got here, you know." She smiled a little. "I work the market in town. I own one of the stalls there - I sell all of the food we grow here, I don't deal with the Brahmin meat and stuff like that. Just the vegetables and fruits." She chuckled a little. "I don't have much of a story to tell you, in all honesty... What made you stop by here, then?" She asked.
