Private for Razorstar + Syrrus

The prince shrugged. "I have not a single idea what his motives are. I wish I knew." He looked back at the fire, slightly tempted to inch closer to it. It was so warm...

He almost shook his head. He burnt himself too many times inching as close to the fire in the castle as possible, and he wasn't too keen on the idea of being mocked by Magpie for practically crawling into the flames.

"It's a fools motives." Magpie said, snorting. A king that didn't teach his heir anything about the world. Perhaps he had been replaced, it would have made the whole ordeal a lot more interesting. Not that Magpie wished for the Prince to be without a father, even though it didn't seem as if he was much of a father anyway. Pouting, he mumbled something and created a tiny flame in his right hand which he started to juggle out of pure boredom. Perhaps he could teach the boy some magic? HE wondered what sort of magic would run the smoothest through his blood. Nature? Destructive? Maybe creation?

Danny was about to speak before seeing the tiny flame in magpies hand. He traced its path with his gaze, almost stupefied by the sight. He wanted to be able to do that. Why had his father hid something so amazing from him his entire life?

Magpie noticed the look of wonder upon the boys face and tossed the flame towards him. It wouldn't burn him, would he catch it and if he didn't catch it; it would fall to the ground and die, burning some of the grass with its dying breath. The reason why the thief decided to suddenly throw magic fire at the boy was simple, he wanted to see what Daniel would do with it.

Danny held out his hand and the flame landed in his palm. He had expected it to burn him, and he suddenly started wondering why he had tried to catch it at all. But now, he studied the flame in his palm, watching it flicker and dance with every movement of his hand or the air. He tossed it up in the air and then caught it, repeating the process a few times. How was this possible, even with magic?

Leaning back against the grass Magpie watched Daniel as he played around with the fire he had created. Wondering for a moment if this was actually a good idea or not. He was a human, humans were either something he fed on or got killed by. Deciding to not think about it he just lay back, chancing the colour of the fire in the prince hand by drumming with his fingers against his knee. Blue, green, purple, pink... and back to red.

A wide grin spread across Danny face as the flame changed colors. It looked like something that would happen in a dream or in one of his mothers stories. He could have never imagined this would ever actually happen. He balanced the flame on the tip of one finger, making it spin like a dancer.

"Having fun there, highness?" Magpie simply had to interrupt that strange expression on Daniels face. It was confusing him something awful. He could never have imagined how fascinated a prince could be by some simple magic. A farmer or a child maybe, but a prince? Magpie was still not very happy with the whole 'King wont tell son anything' business that seemed to be going on back at the castle.

Danny looked up at Magpie, his blue eyes glowing like they were made of fire as well. "Definitely! This is incredible." He purred, holding in a childish giggle. He was holding the definition of magic, something that he had been told was a lie for his entire life. Magic was something he was told was used by beggars and fools to get coins from idiots and children. Magic was all an illusion, but here he was, holding a tiny piece of it in his hand.

Magpie shrugged, not sure what to say or do about this. The prince was clearly into magic, but then again; who wasn't? Perhaps teaching him a thing or two wouldn't be a bad idea. Problem was, Magpie had no clue how to teach anyone anything, especially not how to use magic. It was too difficult for him, something he simply had no knowledge of. It all came naturally to him.

Danny toyed with the flame for a few more moments before it accidentally fell from his grasp, burning out with a quiet sizzle. He felt his heart sink and he stared at the burnt spot of the ground for a minute before looking up at Magpie. "Sorry." He whimpered, looking away after a second.

Magpie watched the flame fall and die, peering at the burnt spot of grass for a moment or so. The word sorry didn't really reach him properly, when he finally recognized what the prince had said he looked up at him, one eyebrow raised. "Why do you look as if you're about to cry? It was just a tiny flame. Nothing to whimper over."

Danny frowned. "I killed it." He sighed, looking a bit like a puppy who had accidentally torn apart their favorite toy. He looked back at Magpie. "I didn't mean to." He promised. Most people didn't enjoy having things they created destroyed, so he couldn't understand why Magpie was so calm.

Magpie shrugged as if it meant nothing. He lay down against the grass, pulling up his hood so dark shadows would hide his face. He wanted to sleep, now. However, he figured that the prince didn't feel like doing the same. "It's fine. It was only a flame. No hard feelings, alright?" He could get angry for less, really.

Danny thought it over for a moment before nodding. So he really wasn't angry? That was a relief. He was afraid to anger other humans, but a demon was another story. He did not enjoy the idea of seeing an angry demon. He laid down, almost curling into a cat-like ball.

"If you are cold, come closer. My cape is big enough for the both of us." Magpie of course new that Daniel had a cape too, but that didn't mean that two wasn't better than one. Closing his eyes, be placed his arms behind the back of his head, trying his hardest to fall asleep. Which wasn't easy with the howling wind.

Danny looked at Magpie skeptically for a second before moving so that he was almost touching him. He yawned, making a sound that reminded him of a puppy. He blushed slightly, curling back up and hiding his face. Why was everything about him so small and dainty and cute? He was a prince. He was supposed to be big and bold and daring.

Danny sighed before considering everything that had happened. "Thank you." He breathed softly.

Daniel was weird, just weird. There was no question about it. He was odd, strange and confusing. Magpie had been around a lot of people, male and female but never had he been so confused about someone before, everyone else always seemed to make sense. Peering down at the young man who now lay beside him, he mumbled something, it sounded a lot like 'Goodnight' but it could just as well have been 'Bear height'.

[Time jump to the morning?]

[sure]

By the time the sun had risen, Danny was already awake. He had kept hearing things while he was sleeping, and he was curious about them. It was probably stupid, and he was a bit shocked he hadn't been killed, but he had followed one of the sounds. He was still figuring out his way back to the camp.

Magpie hated mornings, and due to his hate towards them he had trouble waking up. The fire had died at dawn, leaving only the sun to warm the both of them. Sooner or later the sun did shine straight in his face, causing the tall man to growl angrily at it and slowly get up from his seat, wobbling back and forth while the blood that he actually didn't needed was getting pumped around his mortal body. Low blood pressure was nothing in comparison to what he had.

Danny looked around. Did that rock look familiar? Of course it did. There were only so many patches of moss and rocks and trees you could see before they all looked the same. He huffed bitterly, picking up the rock and tossing it. He would get lost. It was just his luck.

"High- Higness.... Gotta... Hmhh...." Magpie was trying to take a tight grip of reality, fumbling around in a dizzy filter of light before his eyes finally managed to focus and he realized that the 'Highness' was nowhere to be found. "Highness?" HE asked calmly before picking up some sort of panic. "Prince-face? Danny? Daniel...?!" Spinning around like a dog chasing his tails his eyes were wide and he no longer cared about the harsh sunlight. "Highness?!"

Walking in the path, the path that the prince was taking, came a short boy dressed in far too much clothing. He looked like the age of eight but his eyes, which were big like the ones of a deer, were filled with knowledge. Strange, for something that small. "Are you lost?" The little boy asked, his voice high and innocent.

Danny turned around, looking at the small boy. He hadn't expected anyone else to be here, let alone a small child. He shook his head, a gentle smile on his face. "I'm just exploring a bit before me and my friend have to leave. What about you? Are you lost?" He looked at the boy with sudden concern in his eyes.

"I don't think so..." The little boy said as he looked around, looking rather concern. "Everything looks so different from down here..." He mumbled behind a sleeve that was far too long for him. It almost looked like he was wearing his father's cloths. "Who's your friend?" The boy asked, smiling again.

'Close enough to hear if I scream and come to my aid' was what Danny wanted to say. He got an odd feeling from the child, one that made him uneasy. He gestured over his shoulder. "A short walk that way. Speaking of my friend, I should probably be heading back. He might be worried about me." He shifted in his feet, hoping the child would agree and he could start running.
