Private for Razorstar + Syrrus

"Well, first of all. He wouldn't be so stupidly fragile. Little mud will be no problem for him for certain." Magpie shrugged and patted the prince on the head. Perhaps he shouldn't explain about the whole 'hellish monster business' incase it would scare the poor prince off. He wasn't too certain if there was anything else worth mentioning. "Oh, and he won't be able to die, he'll just get reborn."

Danny thought over it. Turn Iron into a demon and have him practically live forever and be less in danger? Or keep him an animal that was easily injured but still keep him a horse? He frowned slightly. He didn't like the idea of turning Iron into something else without consent, but it wasn't like he could ask the horse if he was okay with it. It would definitely keep him from worrying over Iron, though. "How do you turn things into demons?" He asked, curious.

"Kill him and absorb his soul." Magpie said, as if it was the easiest thing to do and as if it meant nothing and was worth even less. Tilting his head at the prince he moved in closer, as if it was possible. "Perhaps you would like to be one?" He whispered into the boys ear.

Danny would have stopped in his tracks if he was walking, but instead he stiffened up and stared in front of him. "There's no way I'm going to let you kill me so that I can become some demon." He spoke sternly before forcing himself to relax a hair. "No offense. But making Iron a demon may be a good idea. I'm sure he wouldn't mind not being able to fully die." He patted the horse, who snorted happily.

Magpie rolled his eyes, damned humans and their way of distrust. He did of course suppose, if he actually did go through with making the Prince a demon, that his interest indeed would falter and he probably would end up letting the little thing die. "So you want me to waste my beautiful powers on a horse?" He muttered, as if it hadn't been his own idea to begin with. "We need to wait until a full moon appears, I need to destroy a village or two - No not kill them, just spread some mischief among the villagers."

Danny shrugged. "It was your idea in the first place, Magpie. And does the village you burnt down earlier count towards the villages you need to destroy, or do you need to start from scratch?" Danny wasn't a fan of hurting more people, but he was beginning to be able to accept that there wasn't going to be a way to get around such things.

"Killing them is not the trick. I'm not a Demon of death. Mischief is when I corrupt, trick and lure mortals, that is what I gain power from. It's harder than killing, but a lot more fun too." Magpie talked about his job as a demon with a great grin on his lips. He would have lied if he said that he wasn't interested in his immortal life he had just grown a little bit bored with it, seeing as he never lost.

Danny leaned back against Magpie, moving his head so that he was looking up at the demon. "Well, then let's go have some fun." He purred. He could play his own equivalent of Magpie's little 'hey highness lemme whisper in your ear' game. He batted his eyes as him for a moment before leaning back forward.

Magpie peered down at the prince with a strange look upon his face. What was this witchcraft? It usually took months to corrupt one's mind. The prince was playing tricks and Magpie was not going to lose. Moving in close he growled like a wolf in his ear. His skin began to ripple and crack as it turned sickly white with black runes decorating it painfully. Horns grew out of his skull, long and twisted as well as a forked tongue would touched Daniel's earlobe. Only for a moment, a short moment but long enough for the demon Mathew to growl: "We'll have fun you and I... Little Highness."

And then the moment was over and Magpie leaned backwards, looking like he had done earlier, peering up at the darkening sky.

Danny flinched at the growl and had to force himself not to turn around when...something flicked against his ear. He slowly turned to face Magpie, a puzzled look on his face. "What was that?" He asked, speaking slowly as he tried to figure it out himself. The voice had reminded him of Magpie's but it definitely wasn't the same.

"Dunno what you're talking about." Magpie said, grinning. He wasn't going to show Daniel his true self just yet. It was best to keep it a secret, to know that he was a demon was one thing but to see it with his own eyes was going to be something completely different. "Let's rest outside the harbor." He pointed towards the south, just below the hills. "We can start our handy work there."

Danny narrowed his eyes suspiciously at Magpie before slowly nodded, redirecting Iron in the proper direction. He pushed the horse into a stiff trot, since the ground was beginning to dry up a tad. "So, you just randomly growled and licked my ear, then?" He chuckled nervously, avoiding looking at him. It was strange. Strange indeed.

"I don't know what you're talking about." Magpie said, teasingly as he shrugged heavily. Why was the prince so weird all of a sudden. Chuckling to himself he couldn't help but lick his lips with an unusually long tongue. Perhaps he was the weird one, it wouldn't be the first that someone called him that. The bouncing of the horse started to annoying him something awful. Frowning with his whole face he pulled up his hood and wrapped his arms around the prince. Evil things lurked in the darkness and he didn't want to meet them when he was frustrated.

Danny rolled his eyes. Alright, so he wasn't going to get any kind of explanation. That was fine. He was used to not getting explanations for people's actions. He felt like something was watching. Something other than the man with his arms around him. He moved into a gallop, no longer overly worried about how Iron was going to fare. He was starting to get creeped out, although he couldn't find a way to explain the feeling to himself.

Magpie was feeling ill at ease as well, which of course said a lot of what could be watching the pair. He was a lesser demon, Mischief was hardly something someone would call grand and powerful after all. There was creatures out there in the wild far stronger than himself and he didn't like it. Avoiding darkness was a lot harder than simply avoiding the woods and forest animals that cluttered the world.

"What stories has your father or anyone taught you about night time?" He asked, as his eyes peered around them like the ones of a hawk.

Danny was temped to grab the dagger from his boot, he felt that it would probably not be a very effective weapon against whatever was out there. "My mother used to tell me stories to keep me inside the castle walls. Ghosts, the walking dead, demons, monsters, cannibles, predators, living trees, all sorts of stuff." He spoke softly, almost like saying such things would summon them. "Her favorite tale was of a horse that lured children onto its back and then rode into rivers, drowning them." He turned to look at Magpie. "Are they real?" He asked, afraid of the answer.

Magpie looked at the prince as he spoke, not certain what he would say. At least someone seemed smart enough to tell the future king some truth. There was a reason as to why no one left their homes at night and why even he was terrified of moving around without a open fire. Nodding, he placed his arm tighter around his waist. "Yes, they are real. My brothers and sisters in all their glory. Every demon, every angel, every god... they all have a purpose to fulfill, a reason to why they are born. The most devious ones comes out at night, for the brightness of the sun harms them. It's an old protective spell, or curse, call it whatever you like."

Danny swallowed, nodding slightly. That was the answer he had been afraid of. "So, do you think we'll get to the town fast enough to avoid meeting any of your relatives? Because, to be honest, they don't sound like a kind group." He felt a nervous giggle rise out of him as his eyes darted around the growing shadows. A lot of them looked like hands reaching out to snag them, to take them to some dark version of this world. Danny hated the idea.

Magpie shook his head. "No, we won't enter town. We will set up camp outside of it. Entering a town or a city at night is just begging for trouble. My 'relatives' as you so kindly called them, is trying to snatch any wandering soul, most of them stays inside of human creations, as humans are what we live on." Magpie pulled Daniels hood over his head and made sure his scarf hid a good part of his face. "If someone asks, you're not the prince, alright; Highness?"

With a simple nod, Danny put his head down so that no part of his face showed. He hadn't been planning on saying who he was if he didn't have to. He made Iron stop as he was able to see lights and he glanced at Magpie. "Is this spot alright?" He asked, his words muffled by the scarf.

"Yes, much."

Quickly, Magpie jumped off the back of the horse, he landed on the ground not too far from it. Spinning, knees bent and a hand over the tall grass he created a fire and as that fire grew into what could be called a cozy campfire the shadows pulled away, quickly. In the bright light of the dancing flames the shadows almost looked like screaming people in great pain, screeching and screaming as the light touched them and made them vanish. Magpie took a deep breath, and sat down on his behind next to the fire. Breathing heavily as if making something so simply as a fire had made him extremely tired.

Danny watched in awe as Magpie started the fire, only looking away when the sudden flames startled Iron. He quickly calmed the horse before jumping down and sitting next to Magpie. "That was incredible." He breathed, studying the flame and the shadows around it. "Do you have to be a demon to do magic? Or is there a how-to book on making fire?" He smiled a tad. He liked the idea of being able to make things at will.

Magpie peered over at Daniel. A book on magic? Funny. "Of course there is a way for humans to do magic. Have you never heard of the great wizard? It takes great practice though." He wondered for a moment if the prince even knew about Demon Hunters, but he guessed he didn't, seeing as the boy didn't seem to know much about anything outside of the castle. "Magic comes in different colours and shapes. I'm surprised that you haven't heard about it."

Danny raised and eyebrow, crossing his arms. "Are you? Are you really surprised I didn't know magic was even a possibility up until now?" If he was surprised, Magpie wasn't as sharp as he had gotten Danny to believe. His mother had told him about wizards and magic and lore, and he had grown to believe in it. But, his father always crushed any hopes he had ever had of it all being real. How wOuld he have been expected to rule a kingdom with so little knowledge of everything in it?

"Excuse me for thinking that a King of Men would have more brains than an insect. What is the fool thinking not teaching his son about the true world?! Is he even human?! It sounds to me like he wants you to become corrupt and the throne of humans to fall into the hands of creatures like me." Magpie was frustrated, yes, frustrated because he could have gotten the crown and become king of man with such ease. Him! The Demon of Mischief! It was stupid, in fact.
