Fantasy [Private] El Stories

Ash
As he was running Ash would shield bash any nasod in his way before digging his sword into it's eye socket. "Hmph, You're nothing but a lifeless machine with no mind of it's own, only orders." Ash looked up to see Rena and Rain, he couldn't help but smirk. "Yosh, time to have some real fun." Jumping into the middle of a group of Nasods, Ash shouted at the top of his lungs. "Pain of Ares!" Releasing his Aura out in a powerful blast the nasods around Ash exploded in a rain of gears and sparks. "Xavier how are you holding yourself over there?" Ash asked as he threw his shield, digging into a Wally No. 8 puncher.

"I can say that I am managing well! Tri-El!"

Xavier fired away numerous of iceballs at the nasods. A few of them fell over after being stung with the icey attack though one managed to stand, yet it was slowed thanks to the effects.

It started to charge up to fire a laser at Xavier though it froze in place after a piercing screech was released up above. Xavier looked up to see that Komodo has returned. Komodo appearances once again changed, his size grew like last time but the scales were a yellow color that seem to glint under the light. Everything else was rather frightening; the extra four eyes that can send fear to the very core and the horns extended out and rearranged for the ends to be pointing forward. His teeth were bared and had two more wings that seem to give him an interesting advantage as they were silent when flying. It would of been hard to hear Komodo coming at their way if they haven't spot him first.

Komodo's looks are fearful and his screech can give it a more of a piercing effect, especially to those who doesn't have sight. The nasod was paused from attacking as it tried to register the sound waves though it was too late as Xavier slammed down a punch through it's lenses in which it fell back and starting to break down.

Rain
"Let me have my body back!"

"Give me some fun first. You can pick the song that I use to entice them."

"Fine...the moment we start to waver, you're giving it back to me."

Orion plunges down to the castle as Rena shoots her arrows at the surrounding nasods. Rain sings the song of the ocean again, giving everyone a defense buff while slowing down the enemies. She switches to another song, one more foreign and more dark, as her daggers pierce the seemingly hard shell of the nasods. Her throws were precise.

"I'm half-tempted to jump."

"You're going to scare Rena!"

Seeing a nice spot in the castle rooftop, Rain continues to sing her mysterious song as she readies to shoot her daggers.

"Rena, we need to shoot a hole into the castle. I'll throw a dagger to pinpoint where."

She nonchalantly flicks her dagger into the center of the rooftop.

"Anything that explodes, use them now! Xavier, Ash, watch out!"

"Something that explodes... Oh, I got just the perfect thing!"

Rena rummaged around in her bag until she found a fire orb.

"I hope this counts! Incoming!"

She threw the orb expertly, hoping that the boys heard Rain's warning and would get far enough to avoid the resulting blast.

Ash
Ash looked up at what was coming down. "Bruh." Looking at Xavier Ash reached a hand out, "Wonder Wall!" A wall of pure Aura energy wrapped itself around Xavier and Ash, Looking up Ash pulled out a pair of daggers from his bag, "Rain! These are for you! Take care of them, you'll know the effects the moment you unsheathe the blades."

Lara nodded and got up, looking at the setting sun thoughtfully. She got up and told her comrades she felt bad by not giving them any sort of advance payment for their help and went out of the room. Later, she returned with a key for the room next to hers and gave the key to Steele, warning him it would only be his for one night. She told Airi she could stay in her room for the night and got out into the sunset's crimson light to buy some mana potions.

A small plan based on what they had as she returned towards the inn, the night's veil had covered the town. Being straightforward about her inventory was just one of the habits she developed training as a mercenary by Elkashu's side. In a well-trained unit, it was a given, but she was working with lone wolves. Airi had been kind enough to let her know exactly what she had, but Steele was more uncooperative. Well, it was also known that besides some magic tricks, she hadn't told them where she got her power, or why she really needed a lot of mana. They were even, in a way.

Speaking of which, her thirst was killing her once again. Illusion magic was never her forte, and looking for someone to feed from was easier to do, once she reached Elder's slums. In a dark alley, deactivated her illusion magic and looked for the night's entertainers to discreetly assuage her need for mana right from the source. It was better than the petty mana pots, but it was still not enough, since she let live her five victims after erasing their memories. Now that she was in place, she checked the secret entrance she remembered and was surprised to see it intact after the years.

Beyond the smell of the city's black waters, there was the smell of some people already sneaking around. They were still faraway from the shortcut, but if they continued their path, they would get in her way before the sun rose again. Prepared to do everything in her power to not let anyone be in her way, Lara drew runes on the walls and heavy pillars of rock and metal covered the corridor until its end, forming a ten kilometre wall. She made it so anyone that tried to clear the path it too harshly would find themselves trapped forever or killed by the rocks and whatever was on top of them.

Lara got finally back to the her room and saw Airi sleeping soundly on the bed. Having no need to sleep, the Dark Water priestess sat down, rapier at hand and waited the couple of hours that separated the night from the morning. As she closed her eyes, she began meditating, and was surprised to find herself purified from Glewin's or Berthe's spirit. Was that enough to maintain her full conscience when she broke the seals? The morning star, the oil from the Nasods and the blood from the guards and Wally would prove it.

The sun has finally risen beyond the indigo and orange hue of the early morning sky. She got up and shook gently Airi's shoulder.

"Good morning, Airi. Time has come to complete the mission."

Rain
"Oh, new weapons? They look similar to the ones I used."

"My daggers aren't met to do as such damage as yours did. You should use them."

"Rena, I'm going to jump! Take care of the pegasus for me~!"

Without looking back to hear her distress, Rain performs a perfect dive and starts to spin, unleashing a wave of water-infused daggers at the flying nasods that have appeared on the scene. Once she finds her speed alarming, she shifts herself upright and activates Metronome, allowing water to flow below her feet.

"Your skills are pretty handy."

"I'm glad they are."

She glides down to Ash and takes the daggers from him.

"Thanks, honey~ I'll put them to good use."

"Rain..."

She unsheathes the daggers and instantly feels a surge of energy waiting to be released. She hears something within her unlock, and for the first time, she was unexpectedly shocked.

"My powers...they-!"

Rain recovers quickly though. She looks at the hole that Rena's fire orb made and smirks. Looks like she had a whole factory to test this thing out.

Xavier relaxed a bit as the wall was put up to protect them. He held out his arm and let Komodo land on him, letting his arm slightly drop from the weight before he can readjust himself. Xavier had to lean back his head due to the fact that Komodo's horns nearly poked him when the dragon was taking a look around. Xavier watched how the fire orb made contact and the blast went off. Thanks to Ash, they were protected from the debris that was flown away from the explosion. Once the dust was clear, Xavier threw his arm up in which Komodo quickly took flight. The dragon flew up in the air, briefly doing a small greeting as his six eyes seem to stare at Orion before diving back down into the open hole on the castle that was made. His ear-splitting screech was echoed once he got inside.

"He should be able to stun whoever is inside for a good while," Xavier said out loud for everyone to hear. "Best to jump in fast and smack them down before they can recover."

Ash
Ash couldn't help but stagger at Rain's comment as she descended. Looking at Xavier after he sent his pet down Ash jumped in right after it. Pulling out a mana potion as removed his helmet taking a sip. The moment he put it back on Ash attached his shield onto his shoulder, blades appeared on the shielded. "Shield Rush!" Running forward, Ash gathered all the nasods he could into a corner. "Xavier! If you could kindly throw a piercing attack this way." Ash said ready to let go of the struggling nasods at any moment Xavier was ready.

As they traveled, his chains suddenly pulled him back, just as he saw the shortcut ahead.

"Wow there! Hold on, Oblivio." He ordered as this wasn't the first time his companions did this. "What is it?"

*Clink*

"Uh? Up ahead?" He questioned as he took out a small brass telescope and looked ahead, to see the entrance blocked. "Just some rubble on the entrance, why do I gotta be careful?"

Just as he asked, his eye changed and he saw why. Mana runes were imprinted around the rubble.

"Oh... Hmm. That's going to be a pain. Though we could also use the other secret entrance, but... Add would probably have my head for using it without his permission, not to mention he's the kind of guy that absolutely hates things dirty." He mumble about to himself. "What do you think we should do, Oblivio? Wait for the person to come around and go in without a hitch or take a different route? It'll take longer either way, since my guy prefers things simpler."

"Eh? Jump? From this height?!?!"

Rena's eyes widened as Rain took a majestic dive off Orion's back. She breathed a sigh of relief when the girl landed safely on her feet. Her reaction immediately changed to that of an overly protective mother.

One of these days, these kids will give me a heart attack!

At Xavier's notice, Rena gently tapped the pegasus and whispered into his ears. He let out a neigh of approval and closed his wings. Like a meteor, the two of them plummeted toward the hole on the rooftop. Rena had to hold on tightly to the pegasus's mane to not fall off.

Orion landed inside the castle with the force of a truck, leaving a large crater on the stone floor. Rena made quick work of the nearby enemies and hopped down. She shot and kicked the few Nasods that had escaped Ash toward the group he gathered. Her elf ears picked up the sound of heavy footsteps.

"The castle soldiers are starting to head over here with reinforcements!"

Watching the lavender-haired woman leave, he took the key she gave him and went to his room. The room was spacious enough, affording enough space for a dresser, a bed, and a nightstand with an old lamp on it. But as small as it was, it was comfortable. The window was wide, providing a breathtaking view of the city and the Shadow Forest beyond its walls.

As if holding his breath all this time, the elf let out a long sigh as he dropped his items to the ground. Instantly Ren felt lighter and less burdened, and he watched as the sun set peacefully over the murky treeline. He reached over with his left hand and unstrapped the reader from his forearm. Holding it like a phone, he turned off the device before tucking it inside the dresser next to the window.

He wandered into the bathroom and thanked God when he saw a small washing machine beside the sink, as well as a bathtub with a showerhead. He took off his old clothes, shoved them all inside the washer. After pouring in some water and detergent, he pressed the button and the machine began whirring. From there he went into the bathtub and began taking a shower.

By the time Ren got out, it was already dark. He groped for the nightstand, and once he found it, he turned on the old lamp that was on it. He took his reader out of the dresser and, by the dim light of the lamp, began to write. It was a short journal entry, but it was sweet. Ren had never bared his soul to anyone, and this was his mode of therapy. But despite being a lone wolf for the longest time, he sometimes hoped for someone who could understand him.

But enough about that. It was dark now, and it was the time to sleep. His travel clothes were hanging right now, and he looked in the closet for some spare clothes. All he found was a bathrobe. So he put it on, turned off the lamp, and went to bed. He slept sweetly that night.

--

Ren awoke to the sound of light knocking on his door. But his tiredness overcame him and he fell asleep once again.

There was no response from Steele's room. Airi knocked again.

No response.

Pissed, she began banging on the door until an old man with a cigar told her to shut up. Airi was so tempted to blow him up, but figured it would be bad for moral. You don't smoke in an inn unless you had a death wish. Save the earth, dammit!

There was a doorbell at the side of the door, Airi noted. She silently face palmed on how unobservant she was.

She started to spam the doorbell, hoping that Steele will get up and not kill her. If he wanted to, well...

At least she would die in the hands of a hot guy?

Shut it, perverted mind. She thought.

Oblivio

"We wait for the one who set the runes," he said. If his brother was on the other side, they would at least be able to assure his safety. If they went the long way and the way became unblocked, his brother might be in danger by then. There was less risk by waiting it out.

Rain
"Okay, Xavier. Hopping in!"

Jumping into the hole, Rain discovers that she can't activate any of her counterpart's moves. On the other hand...she feels her flexibility coming back to her, and she performs a series of rotations before landing on her feet with a thud. Rena alarms the group of incoming reinforcements, which prompted Rain to walk over to the entrance of the room.

"I got it, Rena! Everyone, sorry for this!"

Just when she hears the footsteps get louder and the glint of metal flash in her direction, Rain gives a sinister smile and lets out a high-pitched sound that is different from her counterpart's. While the shy Rain's note was clear and solid and angelic, hers had more vibrato, more power behind it. It was reminiscent of a siren's call, capable of making people's ears bleed. The shock of her voice hits the group of soldiers, knocking them unconscious.

"Ahh...that felt good..."

"Amazing...it's been so long since I've heard Siren Blast."

Xavier heard Ash the time he reached up to the hole. He whistled in various of tones at Komodo who immediately followed the commands and flew right over where Ash was holding back the nasods. Komodo let out his screech at the struggling nasods in which they froze in place, allowing Ash to do whatever he pleases to with the still nasods.

Xavier smiled at Komodo's success and nearly fell over when he heard a different form of screech that send shivers up to his bones. He gave a strained look before jumping in, focusing the magic flow down to his boots in which helped him loosen up his fall as they let out a powerful icy wind to keep him steady when reaching down to the ground. He landed safely and took his chance to restore his mana before he could do anything else.

Ash
Ramming his fist through each lined up nasods chest Ash could hear Rains singing.
"Ahh sounds like those of a mermaid." Ash couldn't help but roll his eyes. Because of his armored state sound didn't really destroy his ears like it seems to be doing to everyone else. "Well at least it's not gravity. Xavier, Rena, Rain we got one more floor before we reach the Lab!"

Elesis

Elesis stepped into an open field in the middle of Shadow Forest. This place should do it.

"How's my location, Penenio?" She called over the party link.

"Looks good, ma'am!" He replied.

"Alright let's do this." Elesis reached for a small piece of El's essence and took a deep breathe. As she absorbed the rich mana from within the crystal, an immense burning aura around her started to condense. She got on one knee and placed her hand and the cold, hard earth.

"ANCIENT FIRE!!!!" She cried and the earth trembled. Within seconds, the entire forest erupted into an pillar of fire. Everything within the inner pillar was burnt to nothing. The screams of monsters and other being were drowned out in the roaring heat. As the pillar died off into the sky, Elesis stood and stared at what she was done. What was Shadow Forest was now simply just a barren, charcoal field.

"Mission Complete." She said while stretching her arms.

Rain
"I'm taking this body back."

Not giving time to let her counterpart object, Rain sheathes the daggers given by Ash and summons her smaller weapons. She runs over to Rena and softly whispers a chant.

"I'm sorry about her. That should help your ears tune out anything harmful."

Stabilizing the elf so that she could stand on her two feet, the dancer gently drags Rena with her as her comrades runs out of the room to the next floor.

The repeated banging and doorbells abruptly yanked Ren from his dreams.

"Alright! I'm coming!"
He shouted at the door. He ran into the bathroom and retrieved his dry clothes. After putting on his equipment, he unlocked the door and went outside. There he stood with Airi in awkward silence.

Shaking her head to clear her mind, Rena thanked Rain and managed to regain control over her legs with her help. As they ran toward the next floor, she looked over her shoulders at the carnage they left behind. She thought she had heard a scream of pain from a spirit. Thinking that she had imagined it, she continued on but then another noise similar to a scream resounded in her mind. She paused and listened carefully. Silence.

... Could it be an aftereffect from Rain's attack? But what is this bad feeling that I'm getting...

She shook her head again.

Now's not the time to worry about my ears. I have to focus on the mission!

Xavier followed after everyone else, Komodo was close by and flying above. Xavier gave Komodo a light, small whistle in which he responded by flying ahead of everyone to scout out the next floor. He quickly remembered about the duration for Komodo's transformation, hoping that the dragon can manage to get back to him before he goes back to his original state.

Ash
Ash looked at Rena and Rain, "You guys okay? I've got an Advanced Vitality Potion, it'll remove that buzzing in your ear as well as make you feel a hell of a lot better." Ash offered the potion to Rena.
But that that moment.
"Ash...I feel a disturbance in the force. It's coming from the forest...I don't know what happened but..it feels almost forbidden. A power no mortal man should have." Ares said, the seriousness in his voice caused Ash to stand at halt.
