Fantasy [Private] El Stories

Arya laughed softly. "I know, silly. I just figured I'd come talk to you for a bit. You looked a little lonely all by yourself." She said, nudging Airi. "And it got you to talk, didn't it? I'd say that's a plus. My master always said making friends is easy. Just tell a joke or make them laugh."

Arya choked and stared at Airi for a long moment, wondering where the hell that came from. Was she into BDSM? The answer was a very obvious NO, but seeing as Airi didn't know that, she decided to try and turn this around on her somehow. She wrapped her arm around Air's waist, pulling her closer and smirked. "Wanna find out?" She all but purred, narrowing her eyes and glancing down at the slightly shorter girl.

Ren looked to the side of his peripheral vision and saw the newcomer getting awfully close to Airi. For a moment, he thought about reprimanding them. But in the end, he just ignored them. He's seen those types of people before. Lesbians, they were called. He didn't care too much about them, save for when they attacked him or kept him from his pay somehow.

When that last thought crossed his mind, he frowned. "Hey!" He said towards the two. "Cut that crap out! We're on mission!"

Xavier smiled slightly at the girls' interaction, though Steele was right. They are on a mission.

"You two can get 'friendly' after the mission," Xavier joked. He whistled a few commands for Komodo in which the dragon nodded his head and took flight.

Xavier took a brief look around the area, now that it was scattered of fainted lizardmen and dead scorpions. He felt Perkisas ready to speak to him.

"There's something odd about this dimension. I can't help but feel sick."

'What you mean?' Xavier was confused what Perkisas was talking about.

"It feels...corrupted. Out of place. I felt it at first back in Elder but I just thought it was my imagination. Now as we keep traveling forward...hm, maybe it's nothing. I'm probably homesick," grumbled Perkisas.

Xavier didn't say to Perkisas as he eyed two large lizardmen warrior ahead. They don't look so pleased to see their allies being taken down. He noticed something glinting under the sunlight on the warriors, looking out of place for him. He narrowed his eyes and was ready to charge in.

"Those guys look tougher than the other ones. Do we knock them out too?" Xavier questioned Rain as he gestured at the warriors up ahead.

Arya released Airi with a blush at Xavier's words and grumbled slightly. Well, that was no fun. Still, they were right. No time for teasing. She'd have plenty time to make friends after. She grabbed a still intact spear from an unconscious lizardman and whirled it about. It was crude but effective, she supposed. Might as well use it. "I think we might not want to spare them this time. They might cause problems for us later." Arya suggested, coming to stand by Xavier.

Rain
"Nice to know that you're a leader again, Rain."

"I never asked to be one. Your memories are the only reason I have to."

Snapping out of her inner turmoil, Rain lightly shakes her head and focuses on the situation. She tilts her head at Arya's blush and Xavier's smug smile. The dancer felt like she missed something.

"Very well. Try your best to knock them out, but I won't reprimand you if you end their life."

Not waiting for the others to respond, Rain charges in, performing quick flicks of her wrist to release daggers that disperses in a burst of water against the lizardmen's spears. They instantly charge at her, with one of them jumping up into the air while another prepares to slash his spear against her. Rain jumps back to avoid the pouncing lizard, but she doesn't see the change in the other opponent's attack, and the dancer finds herself flying across the sky. She grits her teeth and activates Metronome, twisting her body so that when she lands on the ground next to Steele, only the audible splash of water was heard.

"This dimension really bothers me...almost as much as my failed world...what was Glave thinking, bringing us here...?"

The afternoon was ticking by as Lara reached the southern entrance and pushed her hood off to reveal her long brown hair to Toma, the blacksmith that had first seen her. He smiled and greeted her warmly.

"Oh! Miss Tureen! I'm Toma, pleased to meet you, I'm Raimundo's little brother. What brings you to Bethma?"

The young boy's unfamiliar face suddenly became familiar once he mentioned his brother's name. They were both the spitting image of their parents. She approached the boy and greeted him before asking him if he could guide her to his workshop to escape from the desert's heat. The boy complied and they sat down and shared a cold cup of water. Lara looked around to see some fine sword blades scattered in the back of the room to a bigger pile of pickaxes and shovels to the right.

"You're very diligent to your work, Toma. It must have been years since I haven't seen Bethma, it has changed somewhat. I'm relieved to know that, despite everything, you took on your job like a responsible young man."

"Yes..." the look in his eyes took a darker turn before being brightened up by a smile. "Well, it's the least I can do to make them proud, right?"

Lara smiled weakly, sympathizing with the boy's wounds that grief's venom still kept from healing. The last Elder revolution had taken the lives of many of the neighbouring towns' parents or family. Lara felt that, only when Wally died, their sacrifice wouldn't have been in vain.

"Miss Tureen. I've been wondering something. I know that now, I'm too young for it; my stamina can't keep up, but recently Bethma has been having some money problems and, if I could expand my clients...that would be very helpful. I can forge a new weapon for Elkashu and his elder son from the finest metal. Oh! and the same offer goes for the rest of your units too! And the other officials, of course!"

The optimism revealed in each of his words, the hope his eyes shone with was almost painful. She hadn't returned here since that day, time had obviously stopped for people like Toma, who had been too busy to even notice the changes in the guards or the names of the officials. In a pained, yet soft voice, Lara unraveled the boy's illusions towards the cruelty of reality:

"Toma Rossi. I'd like to explain some things first." By the sound of his name, Toma's determination grew. That made things even harder for Lara, but she continued. "Elkashu suffered a wound from a poisoned arrow from which he never truly recovered and died of sickness months later. His son, Elsword, known as the Lord Knight, died unfortunately in battle during Velder's revolution. As for me, some very...mean people, let's call them that, put me in a situation where I had to resign or be marked as a deserter for life. I'm sorry Toma. I truly am. I'm indebted to this town and I'll talk with Stella. I'll help this town in any way I can." As expected, the boy's smiled decayed with each sentence but the despair from his eyes simply transformed into understanding gaze.
"I understand, Miss Lara. It must've been a tough decision for you. I'll guide you to Stella's place. As you said, the town has changed during these hard times." he said as he got up and walked towards the main entrance.

Lara nodded and smiled before getting up and following the boy into the village's lifeless streets.

Xavier ran in after Rain was flown back, charging up energy in his gauntlet. He was about to attack one of them though the lizard warrior bounce back as its partner jumped forward at a different angle. He didn't have the time to change his course of action as the lizardman slashed him with its weapon. Xavier was thankful for his clothes as they act like a dragon's skin on him but they can be chipped and broken down.

He dodged away from another slash attack though the other lizardman was ready for him. Xavier yelped in surprise that he was pounced on and pinned down by the warrior. Xavier pushed back its weapon as it tried to go for his neck, concentrating hard for the flames to erupt out of his gauntlets. The warrior pulled away in surprise from the flames, leaving Xavier to get back on his feet. That was when Xavier noticed the bead on the warrior, the one he saw glinting under the sunlight from not so long ago. He wasn't sure if it was valuable for the mission but it definitely look out of place. Xavier went ahead to smash his gauntlets down to the ground in which erupted flames to push back the lizardman, giving him space to recollect himself.

Arya took Xavier's and Rains distractions as a chance to sneak up on the new threat, giving her an up close look at what they were dealing with. The lizardmen fought in tandem, it seemed. While one was busy fighting, the other seemed to serve as a distraction, and they switched often, altering their attack patterns. Arya frowned as Xavier seemed to have a hard time with this from what she could tell. So she did the first thing that came to mind: using her now serrated katana's blade, she severed the tail of one lizardman, a spear wielder. Hearing its roar of pain as it thrashed about almost made Arya feel bad. Almost. She did, however, notice something out of place. It was a dark bead, hardly bigger than the rest of them on its necklace. Just staring at it made her head swim. A rough voice whispered into her mind, but she tore her eyes away and shook her head. The voice ceased immediately.

"What...was that?" Arya wondered aloud but launched herself into the fray to help Xavier. She would bring it up when this was all over with.

"Roger that."

Rena turned to head back to the resting area. A figure at the corner of her eye jumped off the side of the slowing ship. The person's face was covered but the forest elf could sense the dark aura of the priestess. Slightly sad at the latter's choice, Rena frowned but didn't chase after the priestess. She glanced over her shoulder at Dust.

"Tureen just left."

Two lizardmen... And a dark bead? Airi saw Arya recoil from the dark bead before helping Xavier deal with the two lizardmen.

Unsheathing her chain scythes, she lept into battle. The lizardmen with the severed tail raged towards Arya. Airi dashed behind him and put her scythes at his neck.

"Don't worry, your pain will be gone soon..." Whispered Airi before slitting the warriors throat. The lizardman collapsed, dead. Blood spilled from his throat.

Ren smiled when he saw Airi brutally slash open the lizardman's throat. Maybe she's not so bad after all, he thought.

Ren turned to aim at the other lizardman. He placed the crosshairs right on the lizard's center mass, but as soon as he hovered over the dark bead it was wearing, a piercing headache erupted inside Ren's head.

"Ugh!" he grunted, looking away from the infernal bead. "Don't look at the bead!" He bellowed to his teammates. Afterwards, the elf sprinted in a circle around the lizardman, making sure to get an angle on his back. He kneeled on one knee and aimed once more, hoping to get a good shot this time.

Xavier watched how one dropped after Airi's brutal cut and the last warrior looking furious at the results. It started to charge up on them, weapons ready to slash. Xavier went right ahead to repower up the gauntlet with energy and charged at the lizardman warrior. It had it's weapon out and striked forward, Xavier being a bit slow to avoid the blade and received a cut that teared through his skin on his shoulder (curse the weight of the bag). It didn't stop Xavier from punching right under the jaw of the warrior, avoiding staring straight at the bead but felt some strange influence. The pain from the shoulder fueled his anger which channeled up to the attack. A crack of bone was audibly heard and the warrior was sent flying back.

Xavier thought for a moment that he got it killed, as it laid limp on the ground. He did his best to ignore the pain, knowing it will be dealt with. To his surprise, the warrior was still alive, just barely. The tail shifted around as it tried to stand back up, using its weapon to steady itself. The lizardman had a hand over his jaw, hissing in pain but doesn't necessarily look fit to fight on. Even if it tried attacking, anyone here could easily shut it down.

Hmm... One down, another left to go... Sheathing her chain scythes, she drew her daggers. Golden light flitted around Airi. She skitted behind the lizardman.

"Light Strike!"

Golden light erupted from her dagger. The lizardman turned around at the last minute. Airi ended up striking the bead instead.

She was sent flying with a piercing headache.

Arya was slow to react, but she supposed she didn't need to. Airi brutally killed the lizardman who's tail she severed, Xavier got injured and Steele confirmed her suspicions. The dark bead-

There was an explosion of light that caused Arya to shield her eyes. After the light died down, she saw Xayah land several feet back. She ran ahead, delivering a rising knee t the still dazed lizardman, catching it in the throat before delivering a high kick to the side of its head, knocking it out. She ran to check on Xayah. "You okay?" She asked, slowly helping the girl up.

Rain
"I knew it, those beads are here..."

The air around her grows thick with the scent of blood. Airi had already slaughtered one of the lizardmen, and the black-haired girl pounced onto the other one, but the healer sees the bead on its back burst into a million pieces as she stabs into it. She hears a scream afterwards as Airi tumbles onto the canyon floor, clutching her head.

Rain, along with Arya, runs over to the fallen girl and waves her hand over her head. Airi's expression slowly diminished from painful to annoyance as Rain easily fixes her headache.

"You did well, Airi. Can you stand?"

She lets Arya help Airi stand on her two feet. Gliding over to the dead lizardman, Rain sees a dark bead some feet away from the corpse. Seemingly not bothered by the bead's effect, she picks it up and rubs it slowly. The healer pockets the bead in her bag.

"That pretty much confirmed my suspicions. I sense strong magic from this, so it's someone quite formidable. Should we investigate further to see if there's more of these around, or should we head back to show this to Cha Cha Buch?"

Still continuing to hide the name of the true culprit, Rain anxiously awaits her team's answer.

"It's scary...keeping secrets like this..."

"Let's head back for today. There might be more beads in the mess from earlier, so we can just pick those up along the way." Arya said, noticing how Rain seemed unaffected by the bead's influence. Not to mention, she had to get her weapon back from Toma and return the badly damaged blade while she was at it. Plus Xavier's injury might have him out for a bit and Airi needed to rest. "I'm sure you and the others are tired, and I need to report to Toma about the weapon I borrowed. Not to mention we need to get Xavier's arm looked at."

Xavier looked at his shoulder, frowning in distaste. The bag strap was snapped off, his clothes seem to tear from the injury he has. Komodo returned back to Xavier, flapping his wings hard so he can land in front of him. The dragon curiously look over at his wound, tilting his head at the blood.

"Help me?" Xavier asked the dragon in which Komodo pressed his snout against the injury. A soft hum emits from the dragon, the scales around his head once again rattled with a soft purple glow. The injury slowly healed up but not completely. Though, Xavier felt a bit better than before now, Komodo moved away after giving some healing to Xavier. "Well I guess that took care of the bleeding." Xavier sighed softly.

He look to see if everyone is okay after the last lizardman fell and petted Komodo's snout. Xavier did gave him a job to do during the battle and it seems that Komodo did follow his orders that now he looked weary. Xavier planned to check on it on a different day.

Komodo's attribute began to fade off, causing him to shrink down to his original size where his snout can reach up to Xavier's waist. His colors returned back to him as the black and purple fade off, his bulky features skimming down. Xavier went ahead to give Komodo a different form of a treat, in which the dragon ate it happily.

"I'll check myself out for the injury, Komodo helped to ease up the pain, but I guess I'll feel sore for awhile," Xavier said to them.

A rough voice whispered in Airi's head.

Kill them... It whispered.

Shut up.

The headache went away (thanks to Rain). The voice groaned.

Don't think this is over! You may have gotten rid of me, but I'll be back! I'm forever inside your head! It screamed.

Airi stood up, groaning.

Rain
"Alright then. Let's go back then."

Rain walks her way over to Xavier, who has his dragon heal the injury in his shoulder. Smiling gently at the komodo, the healer picks up the slightly battered bag.

"You're pretty impressive, komodo. I'll patch up your friend shortly. Xavier, I'll carry the bag for you. If you want, I can sew back your clothes for you too."

Swinging the heavy thing over her back, she grimaces as the pressure starts to sink in.

"I'm taking some of these things out as soon as we get to town."

She attempts to take a step, but she stumbles a bit.

"Oh thanks," Xavier said, offering a kind smile at Rain. Though when she start to carry the bag, he saw how she stumbled. "Um...I do have a good shoulder to carry the bag with, if it's too much," he offered. Komodo stared at Rain with a curious look, feeling comfortable with her presence. "Of course I won't stop you if you insist on not letting me carry it, but maybe have someone else to help you with the bag. I don't want to see you struggle with it under this heat."
