Fantasy [Private] El Stories

Lara made with some difficulty her way back to "her" room and sat down on the desk where the leather book was, facing the couch where she had slept. The room's window was to her left and the afternoon's sun on the azure sky gave her more pain. She sighed as she got up and emptied another mana flask, even if it was temporary, she felt her headache go away quite quickly. That elf's mana was quite the miraculous potion. Having this alliance with Dust was more beneficial than she expected. She went up to the dock and accidentally ran into Dust.

"Excuse me, Mr Dust. Before I continue my way, may I know where are we landing?"

Rena stared at the mana droplet in her hands. A small chuckle escaped her as she popped the little bead into her mouth. Dust seemed to have forgotten that she was a forest elf and the special ability she had with nature. Nevertheless, the droplet did speed up her recovery rate and she was soon feeling like her normal self. At least until she tried to stand and got knocked off her feet by the dizziness spell. Mentally scolding herself for ignoring Dust's warnings, she took a deep breath and resumed meditating.

Slow and steady...

"Hmmm..." Ren hummed. "It's been a while, so I don't remember the exact place."

Again, the elf searched his memories, taking his time sifting through them like a cards or slides. Finally, he centered on an estimated area. "I ran into him in Velder. That was after we barely pushed back the Dark Nephilim. He didn't say it outright, but I think he had a hand—whether directly or indirectly—in the advent of the Nephilim. From the get go I could tell he was a little loony. He was talking about expanding corruption or some other thing. I didn't bother to heed his words too much since he himself wasn't that sane. I remember trailing him as he went towards the portal that supposedly led to Henir's Time and Space. And there it was. It looked like someone took a hammer and smashed a TV with it. In fact, the distortion was so bad that it caused some static in my reader and my scope. I didn't know the exact location but I remember it was in some desert canyons. So maybe somewhere between Feita and Bethma."

Ren paused, remembering the horrible monsters he saw as he zoomed into the crack using his rifle scope. He remembered seeing the giant spiders in Hamel, the Nasods in Altera, and even the Dark Nephilim itself inside that damned place. But even more importantly... he saw people in there, maybe adventurers. Quite possibly the group that Rain was a part of.

"I... I was there. I think I remember seeing some adventurers when I was peering into that crack from afar. That could've possibly been you, but I can't say for sure," Ren added.

"You know, you can stop calling me mister, doesn't feel right. We're allies, just call me Dust. And where we're landing? Close by to Bethma, I know a spot to keep us low for a while." He responded as he looked at her. Leaning to the side in a different angle he notice something 'off'.

"You okay? Sorry if I'm grinding your gears, but you kinda have a strained look in your eyes." He asked while having a small speculation, saying it out loud. "You probably pushed yourself while I was purifying, Rena."

Reaching in his pocket, he took out two small boxes, one contained multiple mana droplets while the other contained different drugs. Sorting around, he took two pills out.

"Here, swallow these. I know very well how pushing oneself can be very painful. These should take care any pain from the inside from headaches to muscle pain, enough for you to rest for a few days, though I can't say the same if you get hit. Unlike the mana droplets from earlier, these are very bitter. Drink it with sugared water, trust me when I say that or you'll regret it." He gave her the two pills and stored his boxes back in his pocket.

"If you're hungry, go towards the ships kitchen. Knock yourself out with the food. I'll head there once my swift in the deck is done." As he took a small peek, it seemed like the two of them had calmed down a bit. "We should arrive in less than a day or a full day, depending on the weather, but looking outside we're safe." As he retired from her, he entered the deck.

"Hey Add, swift change." He announced while entering.

"Has it been that long? Doesn't matter, you're in charge hybrid. Come on Carna, you need to tell what happened after I left." He lead his brother downstairs towards one of the rooms, so that they could have a private talk.

Meanwhile on Dust's side. "Who the heck is Carna?" He asked himself while steering the ship.

Xavier only sighed, thinking back on how he first found Komodo.

Komodo was just a very small baby, and alone in the world. Xavier found him being surrounded by other predators who tried to eat Komodo for being small and weak. Xavier was young at that time, probably 6 to 7 years of age. He didn't hesitate to jump in and fight them off. It costed him a scar over his chin and various of others from his back and neck up. He nearly died over a weak baby, yet it was worth it in the end. Komodo immediately grew attached to Xavier for saving him and never left his side. Xavier fed him and healed him on his own in which created a bond that others couldn't explain.

As for exploring around, yes, both are very curious about the outside world. The dragons taught Xavier about the history of Elrios, the many stories about the El Shard. Xavier may not express it very well to others but he enjoy the different views he gets to see. It gave him a sense of freedom, like how Komodo ran off without a care in the world. He almost wants to run off as well to see ahead but he rather not show that side of him, not yet anyways.

Xavier kept walking along with the group, gazing around and listening to the group's conversation.

Rain
"Desert canyons...it would make sense if it's near Sander..."

The part about adventurers intrigued her though. It could be possible that he had saw her inside, since it was a place unbound by time and space. But...he would notice who was with her. Elesis was there, Rena was there...

"Whoever they are, I hope that their journey is successful."

She decides to elaborate on what exactly is in that twisted space.

"Everything that we faced in the past and will face in the future can appear in Time and Space. There aren't enough floors for it to host all of them, thankfully, but whoever does show up can be more powerful than in real life. I think the best way to effectively prepare for it is to gather as much information about the world as possible and figure out strategies to fight those monsters. I do have basic knowledge of some of the big ones that we might have trouble facing, but in this world...there are things that even I don't know...people who exist here that don't in my world..."

Rain then turns to her other teammates, noting the uncomfortable atmosphere.

She activates Piroutte and glides ahead of them.

"Last one to Bethma pays for meals and rooms for the night!"

Lightly chuckling, the singer skates away further from the group towards Bethma.

"Hopefully Bethma would be a nicer place."

She took the small packages after mumbling some sort of thanks and got outside to feel the wind. One day, at best, he said; near Bethma, he added, in a safe spot that probably was in the middle of the desert. She didn't feel tired or had any sort of significant pain, so the pills and mana beads would become useful for later. Why was he concerned about a distant ally? She couldn't answer that question yet nor why she had went to such length to call forth a purifying spell that drained her energy even faster in Lunæ Lumen.
" I suppose I still feel guilty about that day..." She thought as she took a deep breath of the cool air from the gentle breeze the ship created around it. Lara chuckled to herself and let out a short sigh. Her thoughts trailed off again towards her past. "How did we even ended loving each other anyway? He was from a pure lineage, I wasn't. How did we even manage to last at least a year without being hanged in public? Those moments are still so clouded in this broken mind of mine..." Her fists clenched and she felt nostalgic tears yearn to climb from locked away memories into her eyes. She stopped them and told herself that she was being a fool for being carried away by simple emotions. It was maybe the lack of activities that was bringing up that weakness of hers. Lara looked down and only saw clouds over the horizon. It was still way too high for her to descend upon the earth without breaking more than a few bones and nothing garanteed her that there would be good mana sources to heal herself with where she landed.
Slightly annoyed, she went back into her chambers and picked up the book. Thankfully, it was completely blank. If there was a notebook, there needed to be something to write with nearby. Searching through others' belongings wasn't part of her habits, but she couldn't take the possibility of having nothing to do. Finally, she found a flask of ink and a fine feather to write with. She put both objects on the table and opened the notebook on the first page as she sat down on the wooden chair behind the desk. What should she write on it? Her mind was horribly blank and the only things she could fill it with for now were.... death. She dipped the point of the feather in it and began to write slowly a title, a sentence, in the center of the page. Glewin's knowledge allowed her to write it in the naiad's language, a dead language by now. Each trait of the letters was fluid, just like the sea they used to live in. Each word was short and depending on the calligraphy, its purpose could be radically different. Now, there was no such subtlety in any language. With those final thoughts, she finished to write and looked at her title before sighing.

"Forgetting is to face the future, but remembering is to die once more."

It was the best she could come up with, and for now it was probably fine. After all, the sentence summarized her thoughts better than the most complicated monolog she could utter. She looked at it once more and waited for the ink to dry before closing the notebook. Lara felt her ideas for a continuation fade away, it was wiser to stop here before she poured out her whole past into the pages and died as her soul was imprisoned by the ink. The priestess got up and streched before drinking half of another flask, her headache was returning, best was to follow that man's advice. After all, poison was no harm to her. In fact it would maybe be useful for her demonic strength. She walked towards the door and searched for the kitchen. She asked for sweetened tea and, once she had the cup in her hands, she took a sip after putting the pill in her mouth. It was indeed very bitter and the tea washed away most of the disgusting flavour. Minutes soflty ticked by and she was done with her hot beverage. She thanked the cook and got back to the table where she had sat.
Now what? She sensed that the forest elf was meditating to gather more mana to heal herself and that the crazy kid and Henir's disciple were in a room nearby talking privately. As for Dust, he was piloting the ship. Going back to the other dark elf wasn't a good idea for her mind. She didn't trust that much the two boys that were talking and the only one left was the forest elf. Meditating was natural for her people, but knowing what she had come to face regarding dark power, it was better to keep an eye on her.
She followed her flair for the purest mana and gently knocked on the closed door of the room where the most mana was gathering.

"Are you kidding?" Ren said with a determined smile. "I ain't paying for anything!"

With that, he sipped a Sprinter's Potion and activated his Adrenaline Shot. With both buffs active, Ren ran like the north wind, leaving the dragon boy in the dust. He soon caught up with Rain, and then Airi. The buffs wore off a few minutes later, and by then Rain and Airi were mere dots behind him. As Ren slowed to a jog, the town of Bethma appeared on the horizon.

Chuckling as she sees Steele pull out the stops to pass them both, Rain taps her feet several times to activate Metronome. She turns to Airi and gives a competitive smile.

"I won't lose!"

They were neck to neck. Rain can see the familiar structures that made up Bethma. The two girls ended up landing in town at the same time.

"Looks like Xavier is paying tonight! I haven't felt that rush in a long while."

Late Late LegenDarius LegenDarius I iFlipTables

Xavier stopped for a moment, surprised the two girls ran ahead and coughed a couple of times from the dust that picked up when Steele ran ahead. He wasn't sure how to feel for being the last one now, shocked and upset. Hell, he was busy enjoying the weather.

"H-hey! Slow down!" Xavier yelled after them, starting to run in hopes to catch up. He wouldn't dare to waste up his mana just to be ahead yet at the same time he didn't want to pay for everyone's meals and rooms. Xavier's was at a lost here. "Well fuck me..."

Xavier did his very best to at least catch up. The time he reached to Bethma village, everyone else were already there. He had an irritated look and was about to say something between his breaths until Komodo came flying in out of no where and jumping right onto Xavier. Xavier was at his invulnerable state as he was trying to catch his breath and Komodo went right ahead to cling on his back, nibbling the back of his hair. He tensed up and tried to smack Komodo away but to only miss the snout of the dragon and getting himself pecked.

"Okay...I guess you guys win this one," Xavier mumbled, Komodo going ahead to rest his head on top of Xavier's now that he was back on him. From the race to Komodo's playful behavior, Xavier felt his own lips twitched to a small smile.

Ash
A few months have passed in Ishmaels world, Ash had experienced rape and torture. Everytime he saw Ishmael her stomach was larger, he couldn't bare to look at her for what she had done. But it's not like he could see, his eyes being clouded by endless pain he suffered for his disobedience. Ash's suffering sent war down to elrios, he tried to control it but this is exactly what Ishmael wants. "I wonder...how everyones...doing..." Ash said as he felt the fire below him burn hotter.

Arya groaned in pain as she stared down at her shaking hands. She'd never handled anything more than her weapon, so the thought of hammering metal until her arms were sore was not a very welcoming thought. Toma gave a soft chuckle as he tossed the girl a potion. "Not easy being a blacksmith, is it?" He asked kindly. Arya shook her head as she down it, her arms feeling better by the time she was done. Toma took a seat beside the girl outside his shop. They sat in silence for a while, before the boy finally spoke up. "I'll have the repairs done by tomorrow at this rate. Thanks for all the help. I think I got it from here."

"You're welcome. I should get to the inn and rest up, then." Arya replied, standing and nodding to the short blacksmith. Toma waved goodbye and Arya made her way down the road. It took a few moments to realize that she didn't know where she was going, however. She felt silly, but it was a small town, right? No biggie.

How very wrong she was.

By the time she had given up and accepted the fact that she was lost, she had somehow made it to the edge of the small town, grumbling to herself. "How the hell?" She frowned, reaching for her pouch only to find it gone. Frantically searching herself and her surroundings. "Oh son of a-" Arya kicked a rock in her anger, not noticing that it flew in the direction of a group of people nearby, sailing towards the head of a girl dressed in blue. Arya slowly rubbed her temples, adequately fed up with herself. This day was not her day it seemed.

She waves to Xavier as he struggles to catch up with them. Despite losing the race and having his komodo munch on him, he was smiling.

Once she turned around to start her investigation however, a small rock hits the side of her head without warning.

"O-ow...where did that come from?"

Rain looks around the town, looking for someone who could be the culprit, but she decides to leave it alone. She does see a lone girl seemingly frustrated with herself, though it wasn't her business to ask. Instead, she walks over to Stella.

"Well, well, it looks like the mysterious singer makes her way back. How are you, Rain?"

"Good, I'm heading back to Feita to report back to the guild."

"I see. Looks like you got new allies."

"Yes, for now. Actually, Stella, since I have time, is there anything you need assistance with?"

"Actually yes, there is. I recently hired someone to help deal with the aggressive lizardmen, but she needs backup. If I could just guide you to her-oh wait, there she is. Arya, over here!"

As they were now alone, Edward commanded a few dynamos to bring him a few drinks. While waiting, he was the first to speak.

"Why don'y you start from the beginning, Carna? I've jumped so much ahead that when I came back, nothing from our home was there, nothing at all. And don't leave behind with what happened to you." He asked while await for his story and the beverages.

Arya blinked and looked around when her name was called. Was she in the part of town where someone knew her? She couldn't tell, but she did see Stella calling out to her, and walked over. She made no attempt to hide her sour mood, however. Still, it was nice to see a familiar face. "You called?" Arya asked as she stood close by, frowning. She did notice another girl with them but didn't say anything to her until she got answers.

Oblivio/Carna

"Right," he said, sitting down. "That day, when I tried to stop...our father from experimenting on you. I had tried to stop him and got beaten up instead, remember? ...the day after that, he took me out of the house and abandoned me on the streets. He had the help of some of the servants and I had no idea how to get back, it was a long ride. I...on the streets, it was harsh and it was the coldest thing to be alone in the winter. No one cared enough to pay attention to a child shivering on the corners. That's when the zealots...those people cloaked in darkness picked me up. They were taking in homeless people and offering them shelter from the cold. But there was a price...children like us faced experiments. We were toyed with whilst afraid and confused, bodies opened up and things moved around, just for corruption to set in.

"There was no mercy with people like these. Even teenagers were given hard labor and set about indoctrinated, along with adults. Those who came in, came back out brainwashed and given a new identity. Those who refused to...obey were done away with. I remember crying the whole way in the first year, unable to deal with the pain. But...I just got used to it. Got used to suffering wounds and shivering from the cold corruption. It didn't take long for me to become numb. Whenever they injected something into me or sliced open my skin to peek in, or had me exposed to the Dark El...I knew I was becoming something else, someone else. I spent four years with them before...one of their experiments failed. Before I knew it, I was in a vast space of nothing but darkness. No sound, no sensation, no anything...just nothing.

"I wondered about for hours, for days, wondering where I was. It was nothing else but the Void the zealots so feverishly praised and blessed. I...so many times I appeared to lose consciousness and felt my mind breaking, unable to comprehend the nothing I was in. I hallucinated so many times to replace what I lacked, crazy images of torment and memories appeared to attack me at each opportunity. But I managed to survive two centuries...until I found Him. I found the God in this nothingness. The God that provided light in such far coldness. I thought I found the way out until I laid my eyes upon the Chaos. It felt like I had been violated physically, mentally and spiritually. I couldn't tear my eyes away from him, I felt myself breaking and shattering into corruption. I realized, then, the truth of existence and everything that will ever be. I realized that everything will end..." Even then, he wasn't done with his story.

Fume Fume

As he listened, Edward started to feel sorry and a frown started to form at each word. The things that his brother suffered was much more severe than the things that happened for him. While he jumped 300 years into the future, his brother had to endure everything until today. Being reshape into someone that he couldn't recognize at all.

His devices arrived with their beverages, and he took one for himself and immediately started to drink. It was starting to take it's toll on him with all the information that he needed to process. He signaled him to continue his story, if he had anything else he wanted to talk about.

"Hmmmmm... I'll pay..." Mumbled Airi.
She plopped down on a nearby bench and observed the village, ignoring her allies.

There were... Lizardmen? How strange. No one screamed or yelled, so Airi assumed it was normal.

Rain was talking to a local when a new person appeared. It seems that the local knew her.
Airi walked over to Rain, not wanting to be left out. She stood silently beside her.

Someone knocked on the door. Rena sensed the presence of the dark priestess outside the door and opened her eyes. There was a hint of surprise on her face when she opened the door.

"Yes? Oh, hello, miss priestess."

"Mind if I stay with you a bit? You might have overcome darkness one time but I think there's still some chances for it to come back." She said before laying her back on the wall beside the door. "Besides, I'm tired with this tedium..." She mentally added. The aura of the room was as tense as it could be, what else did she expect? For the elf to trust her and talk like they were old friends? Following her whims now proved to be a mediocre decision. What could she do to begin a conversation? Might as well go with the basics.

"Miss elf, mind if I asked you your name?" She politely said as a faint grin decorated her face.

"No, I don't mind. I mean, yes, of course!"

Rena stumbled over her words as she awkwardly let the priestess in. They sat in silence for a while until the priestess decided to speak up first.

"I'm Rena. You said earlier that your name was Tureen, right?"

The forest elf eagerly answered, happy that the priestess didn't seem to hold a grudge on her. Although she wasn't able to see what was happening in the outside world during the purification process, she was aware that the dark energy had most likely taken control over her body, given the vast amount of power she had from her corrupted core. For all she knew, she could have said a few insults to the priestess while she was being controlled. The thought made her anxious about their relationship.

"That is right, miss Rena. I hope you don't mind my curiosity, but I think that, between allies, there should be some kind of honesty between us. That said, I wanted to ask you, what happened in Ruben? What was the trigger?" Seeing the elf was uncomfortable, Lara quickly caught herself and bowed slightly before adding "I know it isn't a very sensible question to ask. I'm sorry for troubling you with that. Speaking about other things, I come from the other side of the sea, Fluone. You probably are from one of the elven villages around Ruben forest, right?"
