Fantasy [Private] El Stories

Lara's thoughts were interrupted by the same squeaky voice she had heard only fifteen minutes before. It was the same girl with the chains and the synth. She put on again a warm smile and greeted the girl back as she waved her hand in the air.

As long as she didn't decided to stick to her too much, this wouldn't be a problem.

"What a coincidence! Did you find what you were looking for?"

I iFlipTables

"Nope! Their house was empty... But that's okay! I fixed my weapons!" Exclaimed Airi.
Looking around, Airi spotted a cute mug near the bartender. Her eyes lit up over its cuteness. The colours... The art style... The bunnies.... They're all so cute, she squealed inside her head.
Airi could tell Lara was looking at her strangely, but she didn't care. She simply needed the mug.
"Mr. Bartender? How much for that mug?" She asked.
The Bartender glanced over at Airi. Giving her a look Rover, he called his price.
"200ED."
Airi grabbed her small wallet and payed for the mug. She literally bounced on her way back to Lara.
"SOOOOOOOOO CUTEEEEE!"

Lara looked at the girl's attitude, she was a little too childish for her age, but some girls appeared older than they were. Her weapons, on the other hand, seemed to belong to a powerful warrior, so her demeanour was probably just a facade hiding a merciless killer. She smiled, realizing that the girl in front of her was almost a reflection of herself.

Lara undid her pony tail, letting her brown hair free before tying it again as she spoke.

"So, you're a blacksmith?"
I iFlipTables

So Lara didn't react childishly... Noted Airi.
"Hmm... Sort of, I guess? I can only repair my weapons though..." She pouted.
Glancing around the inn, Airi took note of her surroundings. The bartender would always glance at the women every once in a while. The people in here seemed... Relaxed. Too relaxed.
Airi went back to observing Lara. She was definitely a fighter. Perhaps she has information on the fight over the El?
"Do you know anything about the fight over the El that happened here recently?" Airi asked casually.

"Oh, um, I'm not sure. I just met them a day ago as well."

Rena laughed meekly, a bit disappointed that everyone was starting to head on their own journey. She had actually enjoy their company but as the elder had once said: All good things come to an end. She just didn't expect everything to end so soon.

"He's probably just kidding, ahaha..."

She was also confused on what Ash had stated as he passed them. It probably had something to do with his secret; the one he most likely spoke to Rain about. Her eyes stared after Ash sadly. The group was really disbanding.

"So, um, I guess everyone is leaving on their own journey. What about you, Xavier?"

She glanced quickly at boy and looked away, hoping that she wasn't being too obvious.

"I see. You must be an expert with them if you understand them that much. It's really impressive."
Lara closed her eyes for a moment as the girl's question sank in her head. This would be problematic. That girl was looking for an objective that was way out of her reach. No matter how talented she was, she was only a mortal girl, not a match for the demons.

"I've heard some nasty rumours, but I have not been in this region long enough to answer you truthfully. I'm curious about something, why would a young warrior like you seek such a powerful foe?" She asked in the most neutral tone she managed to do. She had to make it look like mere curiosity for now.

"Hm...Man, right when I start to feel comfortable," Xavier said under his breath and he glanced at Rena. He took a moment to think about it, thinking back to what his mentor said to him one day.

"Xavier let's say this is you." Xavier stared at the stick that was pushed forwards to him.

"A stick?" He questioned, his face scrunched up in confusion.

"Yes, a stick. Now watch what I do with this stick." Snap! The stick easily broke in half as his mentor snapped it with his hand.

"That's...not very nice."

"You're right, but see how I crushed you without a struggle? Now, let's say...you got yourself in a group of strong individuals," his mentor rumbled, picking up a handful of sticks. He squeezed it tight yet none of them broke, only scratches and a few chips fell off. "Together, you're sturdy and strong against your enemies. They may inflict damage but they won't break you in half. It's important to not travel on your own, Xavier. Otherwise, you might be someone's meal."

"Rena...how about we stick together? I feel like its best, especially for traveling and being together can be easy for us to get through the enemies...and such," Xavier mumbled, scratching the back of his head, a nervous habit of his. He kept glancing at her but won't look right in the eye, feeling himself getting a bit flustered for asking. "I mean, if you don't want to then I'm cool with that. Just know that Komodo might forget about you and he'll go back being a snappy pest."

Airi raised an eyebrow. Or maybe two. This girl... Was she underestimating her?

"The demons... They destroyed my village. I was the only one who survived the massacre. I don't only want revenge, but justice. Justice to evil." Said Airi. Just how was Lara going to react...?

Rain
The miasma in this Shadow Forest is way stronger than in her world, and the prickle of dark energy bothers her. The mages seemed even more powerful, as it doesn't take her one dagger to defeat them.

"So is this what happened in your world, Rain?"

"I do not know...I never got to see the end of the world."

She lets out a clear, clean note that manifests itself. Increasing the volume of her voice pushes the water-based music note forward, slamming into the mages and blob creatures that unfortunately got caught in its path. She activates Pirouette again, spinning and throwing her daggers faster and faster in an attempt to clear the field.

"If Rena was here, she wouldn't survive."

"I know. There is just too much dark energy gathered here for me to purify. She would lose herself to the darkness."

She reaches a dead end. Seeing no sign of the tree elk she is supposed to fight, Rain scans the area for the material she is supposed to find. Upon finding the bundle of small glowing mushrooms on an unsuspecting tree branch, Rain, relieved, takes the shrooms into her hands.

"Done, let's get out of here."

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!

The branch she had picked from was actually the tree elk. What luck. On top of that, just as she connected with Ash, the monster throws her off its body, causing her to let out an unintentional scream. She lands on her bottom hard, and she struggles to pick herself up.

"Rain! Are you okay?!"

"For now. But we need to hurry up and defeat it!"

Ash
As Ash was running through the forest, the Link between him and Rain was about to close when a yell came through. "Rain!?" Ash shouted, he looked around the area seeing if he could find some form of sign. He couldn't seem to see anything.
"Ash I know where the girl is, head towards the path you are currently on, you'll find her in the dark forest. I'm granting access to Arch for a little."
Nodding his head to Ares, Ash called forth his armor as metallic wings formed on his back, launching into the sky Ash bursted with speed to the shadow forest "Rain speak to me where are you?" Ash tried to keep a calm composure. He had to believe in Rain that she was alright.

Rena brightened up at Xavier's response, taking his hands into her own and shaking them furiously.

"Of course I'm ok with that! I'll love to stick together! I think it's best if we all stay together, but..."

She calmed down and heaved a depressed sigh.

"Everyone has their own matters to attend to and it would be rude to force them to stay. Ah, you must think that I'm selfish for wishing that, don't you?"

She released her hold on Xavier and turned her head to the side as a pained expression dawned on her face.

You know you've always been selfish. Did you only realize that just now?

Justice? Lara squinted her eyes a little. That girl had the look of someone that confused revenge with justice, but it was all right. She was too young to know the difference. She had more guts than Lara would've thought, but that was almost a given.

"I see. That's unfortunate, I'm sorry to hear that. However, I'm sure you know very well that the demons are no simple target. You're pretty lucky or skilled, or maybe a mix of the two, to make it this far from your village. You're that interested in...justice?" She asked, sounding as comforting as possible as she lifted her eyebrow after saying her last sentence.

Rain
"Rain, Ash is coming this way!"

The dancer grits her teeth, a habit she hasn't done in so long. Ever since transforming into Prima Lotus, she considered those kinds of behaviors unfitting. Well...until she snaps.

"Don't come!" She speaks, using the power of articulation and her other self to convey her message.

The tree elk roars again, but the dancer remains unfazed. She throws a fan of ice-covered daggers as she starts to pick up her momentum.

"This is something I have to do myself. Come any closer, and you may call me a thief for taking advantage of your kindness and your money."

NinthSomnus9029 NinthSomnus9029

"Oh no! Not at all. I really think having you with me will help me a lot in the future," Xavier said in alarm at Rena's sudden depression. "Plus, it felt pretty lonely before, I don't really have anything good to do, just traveling around and take up missions whenever I feel like it. It does get pretty boring on my own..." He wasn't sure what exactly made Rena upset, but he gently put a hand on her shoulder and gave it a gentle squeeze. "I'm not really good at....cheering people up, so please understand that I don't think that you're being selfish." He smiled then, hoping it would cheer her up.

Ash
Ash was flying over the entrance of the Shadow Forest. He was shocked to hear Rains response, he landed on the ground looking around. "I'm shocked you saw me as someone as lowly as that Rain. I did it out of kindness deep from the heart, never once would I look at you as a thief." Ash said, as he linked to the whole party.
"This is Ash, currently I'm making my way to a suicide mission. The reason I pushed you all away was because I didn't want to lose comrades like I did in Velder many years ago."
Ash walked deeper into the forest, calling forth his sword and shield as creatures of the dark appeared one by one.
"So this will be my last transmission with you all. I'll be seeing you Rain." Ash slowly walked deeper in, slashing at the corrupted wisp of the forest and mages that appeared before him.
"The girl clearly sees you in high value Ash. I believe she never would've thought someone would offer her that form of kindness."
Ares whispered in Ash's mind.
"I'll want to hear her response Ares. We'll see if this is the last I see of her."

Hearing Lara's answer, Airi was certain that Lara underestimated her. How bothersome, she thought.

"I guess it's not completely in justice...? More or less like karma. You do something, and you get repayed depending on what you do. The demons destroyed my village, therefore I will destroy them." Responded Airi.
MementoDei MementoDei

Lara couldn't stop herself from chuckling. This girl was definitely something else, maybe she could... no. If she found out what she really was, it would be over for her. That girl was there to concentrate on "karma" or whatever she called it, but ultimately, all those concepts were based on suffering and the delicate and sweet feeling every soul felt when their torment was turned against their tormentor.

"I see. You've got a good determination, I respect that. A lot. I'm sure you're more than capable to handle some lesser demons yourself, but, all of them? That's a whole other deal. Unless, of course, you prove me wrong." She smirked. That girl wouldn't steal her boon, but if she could serve as cannon-fodder, she had some uses before she absorbed her soul. Her power would be useful for later.

Airi stared at Lara. She was clearly putting out some bait in front of Airi, but for what? Personal gain, concluded Airi.
Now the question was to take it or not? Lara looked pretty powerful. Perhaps she could help her with defeating the demons...
I'll take this bait of yours, but slice you if you pull it out, she thought.
"Of course I can! I'll even travel with you to prove it!" Puffed Airi.
I'll play this game with you until the very end!

Truth be told, Rena didn't know why she suddenly felt that she was being selfish. She was never one to complain and it wasn't like she had a horrible childhood. All of her memories were full of happiness.

All of them? Are you sure about that?

She looked down at her hands with a determined look. Taking a deep breath, she slapped her hands against her cheeks. She winced a bit from the pain but it was worth it. The negative thoughts that started to seep into her mind faded away. She faced Xavier with a bright smile and open her mouth to say her gratitude when Ash's voice spoke into her mind. Her eyes widened at the grave notice.

"Ash and Rain are in trouble. I need to help them!"

A passionate fire burned in her eyes. She made direct eye contact with Xavier's purple irises.

"Will you come with me to save them, even if you may lose your life in the process? I won't blame or scorn you if you refuse."

As Dust and Oblivio walked through the dirt path, some demons waved at him, others gave a small nod to him and others stared at his companion.

"Can't blame them for being curious about you. Almost everything around here revolves in farming, training, experiments and blacksmith. So having a new addition that isn't of demon kind is something worth watching." He explained as they passed through multiple wooden purple houses.

The wood around here was different from Elrios. After the earth has been adapted to the demonic El, the whole world became a land with demon energy coursing through it. All plants mutated into different life, all ores changed into higher grade but their durability in smiths varied.

Even the demons have slightly change to accommodate the energy, though it didn't really made much difference. The animals also changed in appearance, but they still held the same properties, except that they sometimes can turn more aggressive than most.

The houses from the farmland were almost the same as the Elrios farmlands, the only difference was that they were bigger to house more demons to work on the field.

The military force were different as well. Every faction had their own might and their own geniuses in their own field.

But the one to push the demons forward were the demons that value collaboration, they always search for ways to improve the well being of others

Just next to them was the greatest military might in the Capital, general Scars army, the one that has the least influence and the most power at the moment in the counsel.

"We'll take a small carriage to the Capital. Better than to walk for about two hours." He told his partner before signaling the incubus conductor. "To the Dark Palace."

"Right away, sir! We'll be there in less than thirty minutes." He responded while waiting for the two of them to finish boarding the carriage. "Let's go, buttercups!" With a small nudge, he order his cockatrigle.

"Appreciate the view, where going to take a while." He warned his ally while keeping a close eye on the road.

Lara's expression returned to being serious. That girl was visibly bright, enough to take an offer from her so quickly after staying so silent. She could see her orange eyes analyse her face before answering in an innocent voice. She was worth having as an ally, for now.

"Good to hear, I'm Lara Tureen. And you are..?" She replied in a friendly voice as she extended her hand towards hers.

Oblivio

He stayed quiet, observing the world quietly through corrupted eyes. He thought what his brother may think of him for siding with the demons. Heck, even his brother wouldn't recognise him now.

He put that thought aside and watched the view with disinterest.

Fume Fume

Airi smirked. She took the offer quite easily...
"Bob. Bob Jones. Just kidding! It's Airi!" Replied Airi in an enthusiastic voice. She stuck out her hand and shook Lara's quite fiercely. Once letting go, she took another check on her surroundings. The people in the inn were still way too relaxed. How suspicious, she noted.
"Lara, is it just me or is the inn a bit too relaxed?"
MementoDei MementoDei

Rain
"He's still coming over here."

"Then we'll just kill it before he comes. If only my last set of skills are unlocked..."

"Prove it to him, Rain! Show him the greatest dance you have ever done!"

"Very well. Awaken!"

Her dress blossoms again as the coat of pure energy wraps around her body again. The tree elk swings both of his arms down to smash her, but she leaps on its arms and activates Metronome by tapping her heels together quickly six times. A water orb, which houses a small metronome, materializes next to her head. She jumps off of the creature and performs a backflip, where she then spins upside down and throws another batch of frost-covered daggers. Rain hears it let out an angry roar, but it otherwise stays on its feet.

Knowing that no one is near the vicinity, she lets out her ungodly shriek that coats her next three daggers with fresh blood. Rain flicks them toward her enemy and enters a twirl, her momentum growing faster and faster. Dark drops of liquid falls from the cracked trunk, but it doesn't seem bothered by its bleeding body. The spirit opens its mouth and lets out a ghastly skull.

Rain was ready, however. She throws two daggers, one piercing the magic projectile, and one sinking into the elderly face of the tree elk.

"Phantom Shift!"

"I have to hurry...or else I won't be able to repay him!"

Xavier's eyes widen and he looked at Komodo for anything. Komodo didn't show any signs of objection, yet only letting out a puff of smoke as if he is eager for a battle. Xavier nodded his head, grinning and looked back at Rena. "Let's go! Onwards to hell!" Xavier said, grabbing a hold of Rena's hand and running off, dragging her along until she can pick up the pace.
