Fantasy [Private] El Stories

"Oblivio? Strange name, but I'm not judging." He replied while finishing his breakfast. "Once you're done eating, come outside. We're making a small trip towards the capital, stay close to me and don't do anything stupid. Last thing I want is trouble with the demons."

He left outside while doing some stretches, but he then regret it as his wounds were still healing.

"Son of a-! Why do I always forget these things!?"

K KizayaTaishuro

Oblivio

That was no problem for him. What was the point of creating problems? It wouldn't benefit him, or anything. It wouldn't help encourage everything to end...

But was that what he really wanted? If...if everything returned to nothing, then even his brother wouldn't suffer his fate. If everything became nothing, wouldn't there be no more suffering?

Nevertheless, Oblivio finished eating fairly quick and came outside with Dust. Time to see the capital.

"Alright, then let's head down for some breakfast first! Come along, little dragon!"

Rena energetically dragged Xavier downstairs and set him down at a table.

"Good morning, Mr. Innkeeper, we're here for breakfast! What would you like to eat, Xavier?"

Late Late

'Little dragon...' Xavier slightly smiled at the nickname, a name he was familiar with back home.

He perked up when Rena asked what he wants to eat for breakfast. He really will eat anything on a plate but he decided to just make things simple. "Bacon and eggs will be fine with me," he answered. Komodo hopped down on the table and lifted up his head at them, having a blank stare. "And I guess pork for the little guy, please," Xavier added quickly.

Rain
Can the room get anymore hot?

She couldn't see Ash's face, but he was probably just as embarrassed as she was. Her breakfast was long gone, but she suddenly wished that she had more food to distract herself.

"W-wait...but I never met you before...h-how...?"

Great, she can't even say her sentences properly.

Oh how she wants to run away again and dance her blush away...

"A song...from Ares's world...? Hmm...so it orginated from there..."

"And I'll just have the vegetarian set."

The innkeeper nodded and soon returned with multiple plates of delicious looking food.

"Let's dig in!"

Rena began to eat with a graceful posture. She was ravished from the night battle and the last time she had eaten a proper meal seemed like ages ago. As she quietly chewed on a piece of lettuce, she noticed that Xavier hadn't started on his meal yet.

"What's wrong? Does your stomach hurt?"

She looked worriedly at the boy, slightly embarrassed at her rush to start eating.

Late Late

Xavier realized he was staring at Rena, watching her how she eats. He blushed when he was caught and quickly shook his head. "Ah, my bad. My stomach is fine," he answered, noticing how Komodo was already munching down the plate of pork. Xavier eventually started to dig in his food, feeling satisfied with the flavor. "So...um..." Xavier isn't so great at starting up conversations but he feels like it was necessary to talk. Yet he was careful, making sure he swallowed his food before starting to talk. Though when he ends up not having anything to say, he just went back to eating, often fiddling with his food before picking it up.

"Yes?"

Rena hid a smile as she watched Xavier at the corner of her eye. She assumed that he was still nervous from interacting with a stranger, seeing how he was having trouble with his appetite. Nevertheless, she didn't attempt to start the conversation, wanting the boy to get more comfortable with speaking to her on his own.

Late Late

"...Nice weather we're having," Xavier said with a nervous smile. "I mean...yeah, the weather is nice today." He looked down at his food, mentally hitting himself on the head for being lame. Even Komodo shook his head side to side at Xavier before returning back to the pork meat in which he was nearly finished. Xavier took in a deep breath before resuming back to talking to Rena. "So the group...I guess I am considered part of it? With you, Rain, and Ash?" he asked in a questionable tone.

ChibiSkye ChibiSkye

Stifling a chuckle, Rena tilted her head to the side while putting on an amused expression.

At least he made some progress.

"Of course. You don't even need to ask. I was more worried that we were forcing you to do something you didn't like."

She threw him an apologetic smile, recalling how she had practically forced the boy to join them last night.

Late Late

"It's alright I guess. This is a change for me since I been on my own in the past couple of weeks," Xavier said, shrugging his shoulders. "...maybe a good change," he added afterward. Komodo was done with his meal and made several attempts to steal from Xavier's. Though Xavier pushed him away, pouting slightly. "Are we going to head out once Ash and Rain are ready to go?"

"I guess so, although that's up to our party leader to decide. Oh, that reminds me, we still have to add you to the party officially."

Rena finished the last of her salad and dabbed at her mouth with a napkin. She waved at the innkeeper to get his attention.

"Mr. Innkeeper, put our meal under the kind gentleman's tab~ The one with the hat~"

The innkeeper nodded to show that he heard her, shivering at the elf's innocent smile as she casually pushed the cost of the two meals to an unsuspecting fellow.

"Now then, let's go check up on our two lovebirds~"

Airi walked through Elder village, determined to upgrade her weapons before she went out. The durability of the twin knives and the chain Scythes she held were near zero. Damn demons... She thought.
Shivering, Airi quickly went through the streets of Elder if there was a Blacksmith or an Alchemist nearby. Would anyone be willing to repair her weapons?
Minutes later, Airi spotted an Alchemist's house and squealed with joy. Finally she could resume her mission after hours of searching! Except... Would they be willing to? The door was closed.
Preparing to knock, she approached the door. She didn't get very far, however, as Airi saw a woman exit the house. Stuttering, Airi called her out.
"E-excuse me, but are you an alchemist? Can you maybe repair and upgrade my weapons?"

Ash
Ash looked down, "Ash was in Feita for a few days, he was watching you heal soldiers and that boy. Ash was escorting that boy's uncle towards Elder." Ash tried to shut Ares up from revealing his secret."Ares! You're making me sound like some creep!" Ash looked over at Rain, his hat falling off for once revealing his golden eyes, with his hat falling down Ash's green hair lost it's color to a black. "Idiot, you cancelled the spell. After all that struggle to hide your identity gone to waste."

"I-Is that so?"

Now Rain felt really uncomfortable.

"Looks like you're not a side character anymore. Feel a bit more happy, Rain."

"C-can you stop?"

When he dropped his hat and the vibrant shade of green turns to black, Rain couldn't help but get drawn in by his eyes.

"They're...pretty...your eyes."

Like in a trance, she moves closer to stare into his eyes. So fascinated was she that she did not register the sound of someone knocking on the door.

Xavier and Rena were standing outside the room, waiting for the door to open up after they knocked. No one answered after a couple of seconds in which Xavier was first to reach for the door handle. He knows that Rena was rather a bit too excited to see what they're up to, so Xavier took the pleasure to open up the door for the both of them.

"Hey guys, sorry for intruding but no one answered- oh." Xavier was a bit surprised to see Rain moving close to Ash, unsure if he was interrupted something unique. "Uhhh, is this a bad time?" He slowly asked, Komodo taking a peek from the hoodie and letting out a slight growl at the two as he still was unfamiliar with them.

Rain
She wanted to stop him from putting his hat on.

His eyes, or at rather, the golden orbs that were slowly fading away, held so much light, despite what his past was. Too bad she never got the chance to stop him, since the door opens up and Xavier starts to address them. Her blush returns with a passion.

"N-No, you aren't! Ash, thank you for the breakfast! I think it's time I go repay my debt! I'll see you later!" She rambles in one breath, running her way past Ash, Xavier, and Rena. She takes a random commission from the board and hands it to the receptionist. After rushing her to finish accepting her, Rain sprints out of the guild, not bothering to look at the job she has took.

"There you go, running again..."

"Stop it, Rain. Leave me alone."

Ash
Ash was shocked, he slowly put his hat on as his hair returned to its greenish color and Ares vanished before Xavier could catch site of him.
"Ares, I might need the flight passive." Ash said as he saw Rain run away. "Well you guys do know how to make an entrance." Ash chuckled as he walked passed Xavier and Rena, "I won't be gone long, but after this we might go our own ways unless you guys wanna follow me into hell."

"...does she always run off when she's flustered?" Xavier asked out loud after she ran out. In truth, it started to annoy him. He wonders what is going on in her head. He look back at Ash for a moment, still feeling a bit suspicious of the guy. "Follow you into hell?" He repeated, mostly confused on what he meant.

Lara glanced at the girl that had appeared to her side. The last thing she wanted was to attract unnecessary attention, and this girl was clearly not from this region. Her dialect was too different from what she had heard from her multiple trips, there was no way she could pinpoint the exact region from where the girl came from. Besides, she had some enchanted weapons in her hands, and Lara didn't want to take her chances nor she had enough hunger for sucking the girl's mana.
"Good morning, young girl. I'm not an alchemist, but for your need, there is a local blacksmith down this street. His name is Lenphad Arnero, he can help you with your weapons. Have a good day." She answered warmly before continuing her way.

"Well since we're out here, what's the commission that you picked up?"

She looks down at the sheet of paper. "It's a request to get something in Elder: a sleeping potion. We have to collect the ingredients and then find the recipient."

"Seems easy enough. Are you sure we should be leaving them behind?"

"I have to do this by myself. What's the point of repaying my debt when they help me at every turn?"

"Are we going to follow Ash and them once we finish?"

"I might have to since..."

Rain recoils at the memory of the previous night. Trauma does not heal quickly, and considering what Ash has been through, there was no guarantee that the next time he goes berserk, Ares would be able to snap him out of it.

"Where's the location of the ingredients?"

"Shadow Forest."

Rain feels her other self give an irritated tick.
"The one place I want to avoid in this demon-spawned world."

"We should do this quickly then," she says as her feet takes off running again.

Ash
He walked downstairs, "I have a mission I must accomplish, after escorting a merchant I got a request to eliminate Wally and his creations especially the Nasod Inspector. I don't want to drag you guys along, but I won't stop you if you decide to move on with your own journey." Ash said, giving a sheet to the Guild Receptionist, "I'll be taking on the request of Lanphad." Ash said as the receptionist gave him a stamp on his sheet of paper. "Alright. Party Link: Rain." Ash quickly breathed in, "Rain if you here this, you don't have to return to the party if you don't wish. In matter of fact I am allowing everyone to leave as I go on this request to deal with a certain Mad man in Elder. I wish you luck on your journey."

Once she returned to the Inn, Lara saw Lenphad in the main hall, as if he had been waiting for her. Silently, she sat in front of him, knowing something had to have gotten extremely wrong for him to go looking for her like this in the middle of the day.

"Now that you have returned, we still have unfinished business. The water has never stopped running wild underneath the city. I trust you more than other adventurers, you have been with us, down there, cleaning the sewage. I believe you're the one that can stop the filth from poisoning the waters."

"I heard that poison had stopped running rampant in the sewers since the white tower had taken its toll."
Lenphad hit the table, visibly angry, startling Lara slightly. She didn't want to get involved in anything any longer, but maybe she could learn to gain back her control over her old weapon by doing so.

"The tower is counting on the white feather to continue its work underneath. The feather is a mere tool, away from the bird. But you, have more than enough reasons to stop the tower, besides gold, which is the only gift that I will give to any other adventurer."

"So, if I go to clean the dirt, what will I have to celebrate for besides gold and...daisies flowering over rotten fruit?"
"You have your property, I can give you a laurel. You've changed, Lara. Your trip here must've been hard, I have a small idea why you came back, but please, before that, help us. It's the least we can do to honour the memories of those who went away."

Lara nodded, accepting the deal. Not really for the past, but for the opportunity to use the hidden treasure they had found so many years ago and for which Rei and Ism had paid with their heads. The blacksmith went away. Now, she knew why Echo had gained back her reputation. Wally had forced her to. Without any relatives left, it was that or suffering the same fate as her parents after seeing them die. She was used as a tool, to revive what that mad king had always dreamt of: armies of Nasod soldiers. The perfect Army, he used to say before murdering an entire squadron of his own men.

She held her rapier tightly, remembering her battalion fall one by one, made ashes by powerful beams of light. Everything passed so slowly around her, the screams were dimmed, the rays seemed to come so slowly, she could evade them, their heat was incredible. Such was the power of Wally's biggest treasure: Elder's El Shard. She remembered dashing forward under the dim light of that underground factory. She was only looking at her objective, a deformed colossus made of rusty metal. She had sliced it, seen it explode and the whole factory go down. Echo must have been a genius to bring all those things back. Wally's power depended on an amulet where he stored a concentrated amount of the El power. If she had her hands on it and her weapon, like Lenphad promised, she would be unstoppable. The offer was too good to refuse, and when she had succeeded, Lenphad would have the power his family yearned for, Echo would be freed from her servitude and the whole Court would be at her debt.

They would give her anything she would ask for. And that was enough. For another adventurer, they would only give gold. For Lara, an old comrade of the Order of the Hidden Water, the rebellion lead by many nobles, they would consider giving more. Old heroes were always treated better than new ones. Those people would be happy once they had greater power from themselves and would kill each other for the bigger slice of the cake, but that was already beyond her contract.

She wasn't blacksmith, nor a mercenary, nor a merchant anymore. She was a bounty hunter, seeking for nothing but a means to reach her goals. Times had changed indeed; too fast, probably, but who was she to ask for time to stop? She had to follow that flow to be advantaged and finished what she had swore to do three years ago.

"Oh, thank you!" Called Airi.
Turning, she quickly went to the Blacksmiths house. The house itself looked closed and unwelcome. Airi reluctantly knocked on the door.
"Helloooooo~ Anyone home?"
No answer from the door.
Sighing, Airi decided to try to repair her own weapons, seeing that there were no Blacksmiths or alchemists around.
Once finished, Airi went to the inn. She could ask the locals about the whereabouts of demons and the recent fight over the El.
She entered the building, and found a very familiar looking woman. Wasn't that the same one she encountered earlier?
"Oh! We meet again!" Called Airi.
