Fandom Pokemon: Worlds Unfurled

Soo this whole post makes it sound like you want emotions to dictate how a battle goes regardless of strategy... While you did say you seem to follow it up by completely contradicting yourself in the next couple paragraphs...
could you clear up what you meant?

@Kyero
You seem to have completely missed the points of those paragraphs Godman.

The first paragraph states that the number of badges you hold does not actually factor in to how strong you are as a Trainer nor how strong your Pokemon are. They are just objects, and anyone can win an object with some hard work, determination, and type match planning against a Gym Leader. But it doesn't mean that you're actually better than someone else say if you have 7 badges and they have 5. If they and their Pokemon are more well trained and more unified in the way they battle, they can still beat your team even if they have fewer badges. Again, Badges are just objects.

That's all the first paragraph meant. Make sense?

The next few paragraphs are all talking about how our characters are under emotional fire and about how they can grow and people and find the strength to move on. These paragraphs have absolutely nothing to do with battling. It's all about how your character could find the strength and courage to continue to move against Team Rocket despite what is coming ahead. Your characters are angry right now (most of them anyway), but anger is not going to make them stronger, nor will determination make them more unified with their Pokemon.

Anyone can claim to have a strong bond with their Pokemon, but what does that mean? Such a phrase is meaningless on its own, and says nothing about how close you and your Pokemon are or how well they work together.

These last few paragraphs are talking about what having a "bond" with your Pokemon truly means, and how anyone can claim to have a bond that is "stronger than anything" or "undying" or whatever other phrase of choice you have to say to try and prove that your bond cannot be broken. But the fact is that ANY bond can be broken if subjected to enough stress in the right areas. It's very convenient in the anime/manga/video game world to say that a bond cannot be broken, but the fact is that nothing in this world, not even ideas or concepts, are truly indestructible.

So does all of this make sense now? The first paragraph just says that badges mean nothing in determining how "strong" you and your Pokemon team are. The others are talking about character development.

Posted in the CS tab, @Kyero.
Hey there.

Since you're new I'm going to point out that the canon characters from the Pokemon series are not in this RP. The Gym Leader of Celadon City is not "Erika," it's a male now named Hans, and he's a Poison Type Gym Leader. The list of Gym Leader names are in the "Neutral Characters" thread, and the biographies are just above them as well as pictures.

So take some more time to familiarize yourself with the mechanics of this RP and if you have any questions please ask. I'll hold off on accepting your character for a little while until you feel you've gotten a solid grip on how this RP differs from the Pokemon world you have come to know in the games/anime/manga.

Sorry. I had read most of what was going on including important IC posts and OOC posts, but I was saving the juicy stuff for after I put in my CS and was accepted. Really, just bad timing on my part. Anyway, I have fixed the portion of the CS that needed to be changed. Gonna read up on that fun stuff now.

Both @Shura and @DamagedGlasses have been filling me in on what to pay attention to, so on and so forth.

Okay then. Well with that fix I think you're good to go. You may post at your earliest convenience to get your character started on their journey.

May I recommend that you read the most recent posts, especially the one about the event in Pewter City if you haven't already, and make your reaction to that even your first priority. After that, you can go through the process of becoming an official Trainer as you acquire your Pokedex, and you may also sign up for the Pokemon League if you so desire but it's not required. The perk of not signing up is that you have access to all outside funds and familial financial support. Otherwise you start fresh with only $2,000 Poke Dollars to your name and there is no other currency that League participants are allowed to use for really anything outside of maybe paying for a meal at a restaurant or something simple along those lines.

Oh, and as most of the others will tell you this RP is going to be brutal so be prepared for your character to get hurt, both physically and emotionally. My own character was the first to fall victim to the physical punishment I have in store, but before long everyone will feel the sting of this RP including you so consider this your friendly warning.

Nah.

Everybody's going to get hurt eventually. It's the nature of the world and the human race. We're prone to accidents. It's going to happen.

I plan on Anton stubbing his toe. On a Team Rocket Rock!

I'm just playing with you. Haha. Oh dear, I think sleep deprivation is getting to me.

Question. Where are we time wise? I remember time skips being something we weren't allowed to do so our group is still mid day on day 2.

I know time skips are kind of needed sometimes in order to get the plot of the rp going and what not but I'm trying to get a sence of how far everyone has gotten. Possibly a way to sync up since such a big event is going on.

@DamagedGlasses - Go ahead and FF to them being at Lavender town if you want. you can say Anton helped Abby train with Poochiana and Chespin. Just note how much of a bully Hoothoot is XP.

Indeed special locations such as the Pokemon Tower in Lavender Town, Sliph Co. in Saffron, the Museum in Pewter, etc, would all be closed down and kept on special watch against intruders and suspicious persons.

Time wise, Sakura started a while before ya'll did so she was actually playing a game of catch up in order to set these events in motion.

In my next post I'll post a date and time for Sakura's experience in Pewter City and we can all use that as a reference point from now on.

@Braxnond Hey there. Just so you know, the Kanto Region is HUGE. Traveling between routes and cities takes weeks, not hours. The trip through Viridian Forest alone for Sakura was two weeks and that was following a map. If she had not had the map, she'd likely have spent a month in there easy. So be sure not to rush yourself between areas. The shortest route in Kanto is Route 1 from Pallet to Viridian, and I extended that time period to two days travel time minimum. So yeah, if you're going to be doing traveling, set aside a LONG time before you reach your destination. No time skipping in this RP either unless it's done by or approved of ahead of time by yours truly alright?

As for everyone else, due to the site only telling me of the most recent posts I haven't been able to read all of your posts. If you could all remind me of where your respective groups are and how long they've been there and where they intend to go, I can organize a definitive time allocation for travel time before you reach your destination so that synchronization is on point.

Thank you!

Well, starting in Celadon and walking to Lavender shouldn't take two weeks. I mentioned that it was a couple days' span of time, between where my character started and ended. Otherwise, yes; I was aware that there was no time skipping in the RP, but I wanted to be able to tell what had been going on since the start of his journey up until this point (because I have not been in the RP. >>) Thank you, though.

Starting in Celadon and walking to Rock Tunnel alone will take at least 3-4 days depending on your pace. Getting through Rock Tunnel, as large as it is (and without a map) could take up to a week. The walk from the exit of Rock Tunnel to Lavender is 1-2 days again depending on your pace. So a potential total of 13 days which is about two weeks.

As I mentioned with the characters not being canon, the map of Kanto you know from the games is not canon either. The distances have been greatly extended to allow for a much longer adventure. Finishing the 8 Gym Badges of Kanto will take almost a full year by itself for our characters. Journeying to other Regions and starting the process over again? You can see where that is going.

Repeating my post from before... @Kyero

Question. Where are we time wise? I remember time skips being something we weren't allowed to do so our group is still mid day on day 2. We either just got to lavender town or are on our way...

I know time skips are kind of needed sometimes in order to get the plot of the rp going and what not but I'm trying to get a sence of how far everyone has gotten. Especially since it a most seems like wee has passed for sakura. Possibly a way to sync up since such a big event is going on.

I explained in a recent post here in the OOC on the previous page that Sakura started earlier and has been playing a game of catch up chronologically to the rest of you. I will post a date and time for Sakura in Pewter City in my next post and everyone will use that date and time as a reference point from that point on.

Okie dokie!

With this post, my mini time skips are over and we all have an official reference point to work with from now on.

To those who made it to Lavender Town, Route 12 is a two month trip from the entrance to Lavender to the bottom of the route, one month from the halfway point (to Vermillion) to Lavender's entrance. So remember that distance and time set from now on kay!

If you guys want to know how long it will take you to travel a route that's coming up, ask me and I'll tell you.

To clear things up for Kyero, in case it was Ricky he was talking about in terms of defiant and resitant. Ricky just has a temper problem, which I foresee will get into some trouble. He certainly isn't much of a hero type right now. And anyone who knows me, as Sophileon can attest to, knows that I do well to shy away from hero types quite emphatically.

Actually a lot of my plans for Ricky revolve around what you said regarding being one with ones pokemon. I am planning on Ricky to suck, to lose quite a bit, though by no means due to lack of trying, and those reasons being quite near to the reasons why. I am intending on taking full advantage of Ricky's newbiness, so if it ever seems otherwise, he is mostly just talking out of his posterior.

Oh, and of course, ORAS for the win. As awesome as I hoped it would be.

@cloudyblueday I can have Ricky talk with Harlow if you would like. Lol he can be uplifting when he wants to be. I didn't label him as charismatic for nothing.

So if we're picking up from lavender town now it's been 3 months since our group has left vermilion?

One month for the trip through Route 12, maybe two weeks from Vermillion through Route 11. So about a month and a half or so.

If you'd like to submit a character then I'll take a look at it when you're done.
