Percy Jackson and the Olympians::Camp Half-Blood::Semi Lit

Blake walked took Derik to the arena he was tempted to kiss him. He knew Derik was eying him ever since he arrived. The two went to an empty sparing circle and drew their swords.

Rosa listened curiously trying to comprehend what she was being asked. "It sounds like an honor to be asked on a quest but won't I slow you down. I mean its nice of you to think I could do it but I am not exactly Survivor women, I don't even know if I can start a fire" she pointed out nervously. The idea of an adventure was so appealing, a way to get her mind off of her mother's death but then again what if Rosa ended up dying. That would destroy all of her mother's protection making her death almost worth nothing.

Maggie sighed, "I don't know how to explain it....I may not be too good with words, but" she tapped her forehead, "I know a thing or two. Right now my instinct is telling me you would be an asset to the mission. You've already proven you're a fast learner, you just need encouragement. Good things don't come easily. Hardships and risks have to be made in order to get what you truely want or need. And being a demigod--especially of the Big Three--it is especially important. I do want you on the mission."

Rosa looked around wishing someone would just tell her the answer. She had no idea what this quest involved but she knew that she was going to say yes. How could she turn down an opportunity like this? "I'm in but who is coming with us?" she asked twisting the emerald on the top of her sword. It recoiled into the arm band that slid easily up her arm resting just above her elbow. It was cool, like the underside of a pillow, it was very comforting.

Maggie scratched the back of her neck, "I have someone in mind, but they haven't made up their mind yet," she said. She glanced around, "If I may, Why are you sitting out here in the dark by yourself?"

Rosa nodded, "Why not? It's a beautiful night and I am in no mood for a bonfire tonight. Also who wants to sit at a table all by themselves for dinner, I don't. If I'm gonna sit by myself it's gonna be on my own terms where I can actually have a little fun,"she finished pulling a leaf off of her canvas backpack. After a pause Rosa added"I don't crave companionship and I'm perfectly happy doing my own thing."

Maggie smirked, she liked this girl, very independent and headstrong--the kind if person she could use on the quest. Maggie nodded, "I would sit next to you. Rules need someone to make em, and rules need someone to break em. The whole thing seems unfair evento me."

Derik was able to kick Blake to the floor, but Blake quickly got up and through Derik top the ground. Then Blake jumped on top of Derik and Derik leaned in and kissed him. Blake through his sword and grabbed Derik's head and pushed his lips against Derik's. He'd been waiting for this moment for a long time.

"Well," Maggie said, stretching her arms above her head, she checked the time, "We leave at daybreak. Let's meet at the fir tree on top of the hill." Maggie remembered Rosa flew in on her Pegasus, "Or, I should say it's the fir tree with the golden fleece and the dragon. Don't worry, he won't hurt you," She pulled out her sword again, "Pack up, rest up, eat up, we have quite a journey ahead of us. We're going to California to the other demigod encampment. I'll give you the details tomorrow. Take care of yourself!" She used the weak light natually emmited by her celestial bronze to walk through the darkened woods back to her cabin. Once there she began packing for her journey as she waited for Blake to return to Ares cabin.

Derik pulled away from Blake shocked. "You kissed me," Derik said amazed. "Yes I did. I've had a secret crush on you for a while. See your Aphrodite you can be openly gay. I'm Ares I'm supposed to be a straight warrior that gets to have sex with the woman I've plundered," Blake said. Blake got off the ground and took Derik into the Ares cabin to talk thing over. He saw Maggie packing her bags. "What are you doing?" Blake asked.

"Got a quest," she said not looking up, she rolled up a couple pairs of jeans up tight and stuffed them in so they would take up less space, she put those in along with extra pairs of socks and CHB t-shirts into the waterproof pocket in her hiking back pack. She liked it mostly because it was magic and you could pack anything you want into it and still have some extra space--she could put her bedroll in there and it would look like any other, normal pack, not overstuffed. She opened her bedside drawer and pulled out her toothbrush. Then eyebrows dented and she yelled, "Hey!? Who the hell took--oh," she pulled out her toothpaste from the back of the drawer. "We're going cross country, it's complicated. I still need one more person, 'you in?" Maggie tossed her tooth stuff in a smaller pocket on the front of the pack. She looked up and saw the Aphrodite with him, she raised an eyebrow but said nothing, she went back to packing, she said as she pulled out a long thin wooden box out from under her bunk--it's was tied to the springs with strings to keep it out of prying eyes. Maggie lifted the lid and examined her array of personal weapons; daggers and knives and such. She lifted the hilt of one and weighed in her hand, pulling off the sheith she threw it by it's blade. It stuck into the wall opposite her bunk, it landed with a solid thunk into the wall. She went over to fetch it, sheithed it again and stuck it in her combat boot between it and her sock. "Well?"

Maggie grounded her teeth a bit out of irritation, she thought about personal sacrifice. She winched slightly and closed her eyes as she thought about the scar on her back--the one she got just trying to get to Camp Half Blood. However, she nodded, in the end it was his own choice, "Alright, but if you change your mind..." Maggie said, pulling a canteen from the drawer and pouring some remaining water out a window near her bed, "We leave at daybreak."

Rosa returned to her cabin and began to fill her canvas backpack. She would wear the armor and just put on a baggy sweatshirt. She tucked in a few pairs of jeans and shirts of different densities in hopes that she was prepared for all forms of weather. Looking into her bag she was proud to see only the necessities but then again she only had the necessities here. Slinging the pack over her shoulder she wandered to the stable where Rella was housed.

"I'm not changing mu mind Maggie," Blake said,"I've secretly had a crush on Derik since he got here and now were together finally and I'm not going to let a quest screw that up," Blake said.

Maggie fought the urge to roll her eyes, she hated luby-duby crap, "More power to ya'," she said then added sarcastically, "Have fun with your puppy love," She waved over her shoulder as she walked out the door with her canteen and a insulated cooling bag. Absently she wondered if Derik had the ability of Charmspeak, seeing that he was an Aphrodite. Maggie headed off for the Big House. She saw Rosa on her way, going towards the stables to see her pegasus, she would give her some time alone.

Maggie filled her canteen up with nectar and she bad with ambroshia and enough snacks to last them about two days, then went to chat with Chiron for a bit.

Sylus and Rachelle were sitting together on the dock. He glanced up as he felt Maggie tap his shoulder "Yes?" he asked with an eyebrow raised. Rachelle looked up at Maggie and smiled. She looked back at the book she and Sylus had been reading. It was titled 'The Master to Weaponry' she thought it would be fun to look through for some techniques they had missed or something.

"Syllus, um, hi," Maggie said awkwardly, "Can we talk?" he nodded, and they stepped away. "Well I'm assigned this quest, and I think I could really use your experience. I have one position open. And, er, we're going cross country to the other camp. Would you like to come?"

Maggie felt weird talking to him, they didn't talk very often and Syllus was two years older than herself with a girlfriend. She didn't want to step on any toes.

Sylus blibked "Um, you know what yeah." he said and shook hands with the younger girl. "We leave tomorrow?" Rachelle dipped her toes in the crystal blue water and looked over a Sylus and Maggie. She sighed and accidently dropped the book in the water.

Maggie shook his hand with a firm grip and nodded, "Day break, Thalia's Tree. Be prepared, we're going into the city to Central Station, we'll take the train to the west coast. Get some rest," she managed a smile and went off to her cabin. In Ares cabin, her siblings were having an arm wrestling tournament. They were yelling and placing bets of Durachmas, mortal money, weapons and various other items. Maggie sighed out of exasperation, frowning she shoved a boy out of one of the two seats of an ongoing contest and replaced him in his seat. She geared the other boys hand and slammed it down to the table. People started yelling in protest. She stood, "Oh, shut UP!" she yelled over all the voices, "I gotta quest tomorrow, I have to get some sleep! Have your little competition when I'm gone. It would give you all a fair chance to win, since I won't be here." Clarisse walked up to her, "Who died and made you queen?" she sneered. Maggie's frown grew deeper, "Look, I just want to go to sleep, quit being an ass." Clarisse shoved her, "We're all having fun, why should you ruin it. Besides your not in charge. Why don't you just sleep outside, you're gonna need to get use to it." Maggie decided not to fight her, she really wasn't in the mood, t wasn't a leadenly thing to doto get in a petty fight over nothing. She clenched her fists and growled with a slick smile, "Fine, fabulous idea."

Maggie woke up, it was morning and the sky was grey. She got out of her bed roll and stretched. She decided to sleep on the lake's dock, finding that she was particually hardwired and that the sound of the water calmed her. She rolled up her bed roll tight and attached it to her back pack, then she went to the kitchens to grab something to eat for the morning, did some last minute things, and set off for the pine tree.

She patted the dragon's head while waiting for the others, he snorted up some smoke and made an erie grumbling sound in the back of his throat. Maggie started to freak out until the dragon leaned his head into her touch, and Maggie realized the grumbling was his own way of purring. She smiled.
