It's been a year since the monsters have returned to the surface after being shut away by the humans. Asriel and Chara have been put to rest, Flowey is powerless and living in a pot in Frisk's room, and all that there really is to worry about at this point for the monsters is assimilating into society. It's a happy ending, to say the least.

But what exactly is life like on the surface for the monsters? What is Frisk, a (name and gender determined by the person RPing as them) child, doing to help monsters and humans come together as the "ambassador"? How is everyone else holding up?

Currently, Frisk and co. are doing pretty well for themselves. Frisk and Toriel are living together with plenty of visits and get-togethers from all their friends, all with their own respective places to call their own. Frisk is back in school, the skeleton brothers are pursuing any odd jobs they can take, and everyone has been up to their own job/duty to keep themselves busy. Life may be happier, but in some ways just as hectic as it was stuck underground.

This is the story of that.

(Just a heads up posts won't usually be this long, just setting the scene. Also, BROWN is Frisk and BLUE is Sans.)

The silence of the morning was disrupted by the buzz of Frisk's alarm clock. And of course, Toriel brewing coffee, but mainly the whole alarm clock thing. The human lets out a groan of annoyance as she sits up in bed, rubbing her eyes. "School year's starting up again..." she mutters to herself, finding it truly hard to believe she had completed not only a school year, but a whole summer break since she and the monsters emerged from the surface. She hastily turns on the light and gets up, heading to the bathroom to brush her teeth. On the way she gives her usual greeting to Flowey, and he gives his usual silent response.

"This year Mom's supposed to be making her school co-species, which is a good thing, although its going to be a very messy transition..." Frisk thinks absently as she brushes her hair.

Suddenly, a knock is heard at the door.

It was certainly early, but not that early for Sans.

Walking casually down the street as the sun slowly began to peek over the horizon, he took in just how serene the surface was when you weren't getting flashed dirty looks every few minutes. It was convenient for Tori and the kid's house to be as close as it was, not just for Sans and Papyrus, but pretty much all of their close friends, because that meant it was a decent meetup spot for everyone.

"Yo Pap, you keeping up?" He calls behind to his younger brother, who was the one carrying the food. It was their turn to supply breakfast this morning.

"Since Alphys and Undyne are on that romantic vacation, we'll have less mouths to feed, but I really hope the kid and Tori won't be bothered by eating Grillby's leftovers for breakfast." He mutters, partially to himself. It was kind of the best thing he could scrape up in a hurry after all.

Sans knocks on the door.

Toriel is walking to the door and opens it. "Oh, hello Sans, how's it going?" She asks the small skeleton, than peeks behing him. "Oh, hi Papyrus, what are thoses?" She asks Papyrus while pointing at the food. She was already in her working suit, finishing the plans for today, that you can see on the table behind her.

"O-oh it's food for breakfast!" Papyrus answered. "Most of it is from a restaurant I stopped at, but the toast is made by yours truly!" He boasted proudly, and lying about the leftovers thing to sound like a better friend. Friendship was a priority to him since arriving on the surface.

"It's Grillb-" Sans began to say bluntly, but decided to play along with his brother's story. "Lemme say though, Pap's ability to make good toast has improved at a breakfast pace." He remarks with a wink. The first puns of the day were always the most satisfying ones.

Frisk, now completely dressed and groomed, eagerly trots down the stairs to greet the skeleton brothers. "Hey guys!" She says, giving the two each a hug. She then turns to Toriel and looks up at her concernedly.

"Mom... You're going to be ready for such a big change today, right? I know you've got it covered, just... I'm worried. I don't think the monsters and humans completely see eye to eye as of yet." Frisk says with a weak smile.

"Thanks Sans!" Papyrus exclaimed, the compliment over taking the pun in his brain. He pulled out the half golden on one side, half black on the other pieces of toast. Undyne had only enough time to teach him to keep one side cool enough, she was planning on moving to two sides when she got back.

She laught at Sans' joke and pat Frisk's head "Its gonna be fine Frisk, besides, I think that the fact that I was able to hire human teachers should help the transition." She said while trying to smile. She heads up to the kitchen "Frisk, what do you want on your toasts?" She asks while opening the actually working fridge.

@RoyalShellder @SlightlyInsaneJake

After hearing Toriel's response, Frisk felt a little bit better about the situation. "I'll take mine, plain, that's okay." She says as she sits down at the kitchen table.

Sans follows the two into the kitchen and sits down next to Frisk, yawning. "Hey Tori, where's your ex up to?" He asks, of course referring to Asgore, who usually was here and ready to eat well before Sans and Papyrus arrived.

Suddenly the door was flung open and in stepped a pair of fabulous legs. "Hello my beauties!" Meggaton greeted, bringing in food from his part time waiting job. "Sorry if I'm interrupting but I heard today was a big day so I brought my friends some food that WASN'T cooked by Papyrus!" He exclaimed.

"HEY! What do you mean by that?" Papyrus defended, crunching some toast in his mouth.

"Nothing, keep eating darling!" Said Meggaton.

"Don't know, don't care!" She awnsered. "Actually, he tried to work at my school, but even if it was an insignificant job, I denied it." She added. "Hi Mettaton..." She said while staying in the kitchen, back to the fridge, thinking to herself "Ok Toriel, today's the day, even if a cathastrophy happens, how bad could it be? A simple arguing...hum...a fight...hum..." Than asks "Sans! Don't you mind coming with me and Frisk to school today?"

@RoyalShellder @SlightlyInsaneJake

Sans takes some ketchup packets from Mettaton's selection of food and begins open them, pouring them into his glass. "You know me too well, Mett." He begins to drink idly, but looks up from the table at Toriel's question. "Oh yeah, you can count on me. Papyrus and I didn't really have any work today anyways, so it's not even an inconvenience. What's the occasion, if I could ask?" He was aware that there was a merging starting today, although he assumed it was something to do with a toilet firsthand.

"Wait wait wait! What makes you think I didn't have any plans? Remember I'm an athlete now?!" Papyrus said, trying to sound busy just for the sake of sounding important.

"Oh Sans, darling...that never ceases to disgust me." Mettaton replies to Sans ketchup drinking. If robots shuddered, he would.

She is comming out of the kitchen "Well, I don't know if I told you, but today's the day that we welcome humans in my school and...well I tought that it would be better if we where more in case of...incidents..." She says a bit embarassed.

@RoyalShellder @SlightlyInsaneJake

"Yeah sure, anything for you, Tori" Sans responds with a relaxed smile. He glances at his phone, one of the many gadgets that he's become accustomed to using on the surface. "Hey, it's 7:50. Doesn't school start at like 8?"

Frisk looks up from her food in surprise "No, y-you're right! Mom, we should probably get going!" Frisk picks up her bookbag and begins to grab the blue jacket hanging on the coat rack, but realizes that it's late summer and it would only make her hotter.

"Hey, there's my jacket. How long have you had it now, 3 weeks?"

"Uh, 4." Frisk says, embarrassed.

"Well, I better get back to the restaurant. Have a good day sweetie!" Mettaton said, wrapping her in an energetic hug before going for the door.

"So...I lied...I have no plans." Papyrus admitted, looking to the ground a little.

"Oh, you are right, one sec!" Than runs in the kitchen, grabbing Frisk's lunch, that giving it to them. "Here's your lunch my child, now lets go!" She says as she heads up towards the door, than the school with Frisk, Sans and Papyrus.

At school, the staff had placed a banner welcoming the new students to the school.

@RoyalShellder @SlightlyInsaneJake

SlightlyInsaneJake said:
"Ya see? They love having us here!" Papyrus exclaimed at the banner
"Yea..." Toriel said, trying to not destroys Papyrus' dreams. "So, Frisk, I have to go for now, if you need anything, just ask me and I will do everything I can, do, ok? See you later." She told Frisk, kissing her on the forehead before heading inside the school, and at her work meeting. Inside the school, there's table with human like monster hoasting them with the schools books, scedules and agendas.

@RoyalShellder @SlightlyInsaneJake

"Bye Mom. I'll do my best to stop anything before it starts!" She says with her usual determined demeanor. Frisk heads off to her classes in a hurry, it wasn't long until they were starting after all.

The kid's gonna be fine, Sans knew there was no need to worry about her. "Cmon, Pap. Let's go see what Tori really needs us for." They begin to walk inside after Toriel, but first allowing a group of human students to enter before them. "Oh, the humanity."

Frisk surveys the hallways. What an utterly strange feeling it was to see so many monsters and humans walking around in one place. Although, most of the humans seemed to keep their distance from the monsters, despite being far from menacing. What the humans and monsters DID have in common, though, were the fact that they were all staring. Staring at Frisk. Frisk was confused at first, but then it hit her that everybody knew who she was and what she did for monster and humankind. She was used to the acclaim she got a year ago, but this past summer was full of interviews, guest spots on talk shows, article upon article about her story, she was more or less a celebrity now. She wasn't being mobbed by paparazzi or anything, but she was the human who saved the monsters, and this concept made Frisk a little uncomfortable. She picks up her pace and heads straight for class.

Sans opens the door to which Toriel had entered seconds before to find himself looking at the entire faculty of both humans and monsters.

"Yo. I'm Sans. Janitor. Friend of Tori."

The faculty did not look impressed.

"Man, is it me, or do you guys looks
split on how to react to that."

The faculty did not look impressed.

"haha... ha..." Sans gives a nervous laugh.
"Get in here Pap." He whispers.

As Frisk is heading up to class, Suzan followed her in a distance and when she realised that she was in the same class as Frisk, she was so exited and followed the and sitted right back to her, Notepad in hand, looking deepely at her.

Toriel looked at Sans stressed out and than looked at the rest of the staff and started her speach: "So, as you know, today's the day that our students will finally start their education together. As you know, he first thing to watch out for is the relation between the monsters and the humans, taking in consideration that humans are generaly way stronger physicaly than monster, but they have magic to defend themselves. The other thing that we will try to focus on is to teach the monster human history and culture and vice-versa. Also, we will try to make teams of humans with monster to help them bond. Any questions anyone?"

@RoyalShellder @SlightlyInsaneJake

Papyrus walks in ready to make an into, but then stops seeing Toriel already started talking. He takes a seat next to Sans. People were staring at him but he figured it was out of admiration.

Frisk sits down in her homeroom and studies the people in front of her. She was in the second to last row from the back, so it was a good spot to keep an eye on monster and human relations. More than anything, she wanted to make sure there was no harassment on either end. She then stretched and let out a long yawn having not really gotten enough sleep the night before. Flowey kept her up by intently watching some anime Alphys made the mistake of hooking him on. With her arms outstretched, Frisk carelessly dropped the pencil in her hand, making it fall flat on the desk behind her.

"O-oh, sorry about that." She says to Suzan, turning around and reaching for her utensil.

Sans considered piping up on the matter, but at this point he had picked up on the mood of the environment he was in, and simply kept his mouth shut, focused on doing what he was told to.
