Our Wonderful Space RP, Home-Life <3

Be nice, Adrian had to tell himself, you don’t wanna offend him. With a nervous smile, Ade braced himself for Cas’ meal, feeling his partners eyes on him as he sliced it into pieces and took a forkful. He had to lean forward over his plate as he lifted it up, and the gooey cheese dripped off his fork in wild strings as he tried to put in his mouth. When he finally got a taste of it, he chewed it with tentative bites, wincing as he expected a horrid, vile texture to spread over his tongue, and was relieved to find it just tasted salty, with a garlic hint to it. He made loud “Mmm” sounds so Cas could tell he approved at least, the corners of his mouth twitching as Cassidy scrutinised him from the other side of the table. “It’s alright,” He said, taking another small forkful “Better than I thought it was going to be.” He took generous sips of beer in between mouthfuls to wash down the taste.

Cassidy watched Adrian intently, and lifted a brow at the 'it's alright', and he snorted, "It's literally made with almost the same ingredients as pizza. The kaaper is was a snail-like shell that was flexible, and turned into a thick warm crust when baked. You filled it with cheese and meets and veggies and baked it. It resembled a calzone.

He took his cider and took a few more gulps, leaning Against the counter with a sigh, closing his eyes, "How was your day at work?"

Ade looked down at his plate, slightly guilty at being so picky. He picked up his fork again, and started eating it with slightly more vigour. Although it looked fairly innocuous, he was still grossed out by the fact it was alien food, and had to tell himself it was actually pizza. He mumbled in between mouthfuls. “It was alright, thank you. Tiring. I had a guy fall down the stairs his way to see me and I had to bandage up his head whilst also reviewing his diabetes medication. And then a lady vomited on me and I had to shower again, so I didn’t get a lunch break.” He sipped at his beer again, “And what about you? Did you go on any adventures?” He grinned.

Cassidy felt a bit better when Adrian began eating again, and peeked out from his closed-eye relaxation, a slight and proud expression coming over him. He laughed, "My adventure wasn't as great as yours, it seems. Vomited on? Seems thrilling, Ade." Sipping on more cider he shook his head, "Nope, just went to the market. No one noticed me, and I got to spend some of my check. I hardly get to spend it on anything, I have thousands just sitting in my account at home. When everything is taken care of for you practically, that happens." He paused, "So, I could buy the majority of food if you want, and you could save your money." He knew contributing to the household would be vital to his stay, but he couldn't just go get his account and trade his thousands for US Dollars, now could he? "... I can help."

Adrian shrugged. “…Yeah, if you want to. I guess there’s not a lot you can spend it on besides food, is there?” He finished up his meal, taking Cas’ plate and walking to the sink to wash them up. “It would help, but…Don’t feel like you have to, though. I’m sure there are…other ways you help me out.” He let the comment hang for a minute, a cheeky grin spreading on his face as he put the plates away in the cupboard.

He walked over to the countertop, and reached underneath, pulling out a shiny black trashbag that was full of rubbish. “…Like, taking out the garbage, for example.” He tied the top, and dropped it next to Cas, pointing to the door. “You go down the stairs and out of the building, first left you take you’ll see a big metal tub full of these. Just throw that in and you’ve done your chores for the day.” He leaned over and kissed Cassidy on the cheek, a smirk etched into the corners of his mouth. “Thanks, babe.” He took out another beer from the fridge and stalked off back towards the living room, the blare of the TV coming through almost immediately after.

Cas quirked an eyebrow at the suggestion of chores, and nodded, "Okay." He picked up the bag, easily lifting it with one hand, and repeated the directions to himself in his mind, smiling at the peck on his cheek. He briskly walked out of the apartment, and headed for the stairs. He figured exercise was important still, and he ran down the steps, getting at least a mild workout.

Upon reaching the street, he peered around to see a somewhat busy street, and he headed left, looking around for the big metal dumpster. He spotted it hidden in a side alley, and entered with a chuckle, "Wow... They just let it sit here?" He threw it in, and pulled himself up on the side, looking in. He shriveled his nose up in disgust, and hopped down with a gagging sound, "A-zaa, ick..." (Translation: Oh my, yuck!) He wondered why the stuff was just left here, and where it ended up afterwards. Maybe that's why in my time Earth is a preserved planet? He rolled his eyes, beginning to walk away...

A man from deep within the alley called out, "Hey- kid- Any spare change?" Cas immediately turned round, and saw a rough looking man, wearing rags. He was holding a sign, "Homeless, please help!" The Lieutenant's eyes widened, "You are homeless?" He exclaimed, the man nodding. Cas held out a hand, "I haven't any money, but come- please. Have you had any food today?"

***************

Cas led the man all the way up to the apartment, quite concerned. He learned the man's name was Bernie, and he intended to feed him and help him in any way possible. He began asking why he was homeless- he thought America was a great and powerful empire. No man should be homeless! And it was his duty to protect and help the universe.

He walked into the kitchen with Bernie, and pulled the old man up a chair. The man had a gray holey beanie, and scraggly long gray hair, and a beard. He smelled awful. But Cas didn't mind, and began frantically taking his alien foods and preparing a dish for him.

Ade heard the door slam and he waited for his partner to return, stretching himself out on the sofa and idly watching the news. After a few minutes, he heard the clanging of pots and pans and rolled his eyes, getting up and strolling towards the kitchen. Oh god, not dessert, too. He walked in shaking his head, saying “It’s alright Cas, your dinner was fin-“ He gave a small yelp when he saw the filthy old guy sitting on his chair, leaning against the countertop and watching Cas make a meal from the alien ingredients. He was pulled into stunned silence, a look of horror taking over his face as the reek of body odour and urine suddenly hit him. Not daring to move another inch towards him, he turned to the Lieutenant and blurted, “Cas, who the f*ck is that?!”

Cassidy turned quickly, a smile coming over his features, "Oh, hey, Ade- This is Bernie. I met him down by the garbage can you told me to go to." He shook his head, "He needs money, but I don't have any- so I am gonna make him dinner." A sudden concern filled his voice, and he looked bewildered, "He's homeless. Can you believe that?" He looked at Bernie with worry and kept preparing his meal.

Bernie looked up at Adrian, lifting a hand and saying in a gruff voice: "Hi."

Ade was still frozen on the spot, the corners of his mouth downturned in disgust. He nodded slightly at Bernie, raising a fearful hand, “H-hi.” He shook his head and paced towards Cas, walking in as large circle around the homeless guy as he could. He put a hand on Cas’ shoulder and shoved him towards the oven so they both faced away from Bernie.

Cassidy, what the hell?!You don’t just bring people off the street into our home.” He hissed through gritted teeth, “There are literally thousands of homeless people in Boston. And most of them are alcoholics or drug addicts that’d do anything to get into a nice apartment like this and steal my stuff to sell it and feed their habit…” He peered over his shoulder suspiciously at Bernie, furrowing his brow to make sure he wasn’t running off with the TV. To his half-surprise he was sat there still, but he carried on his hostility nonetheless “I’ve been mugged by guys like him before. They’re dangerous, Cassidy.” He turned around, shaking his head at the homeless man and folding his arms. “I’m sorry, you can’t stay or eat here, I’m going to have to ask you to leave…”

Cas stared over at Adrian in confusion the entire time, "Thousands of homeless people?" He shook his head, "What's wrong with this country- why don't they help them?" He asked, concern knotting his features, "But Bernie is just an old guy- look at him." He turned around, "He's not gonna mug you." He snickered, "I mean, jeez Adrian, you think he'll mug me?"

Cas shouted in protest when he told Bernie to leave, and said, "Aww, Ade, you can't do that! He's a human being, not a stray animal!" The time agent huffed, angered by the lack of compassion Adrian showed, "You're a doctor, anyway, you're supposed to help people!"

Bernie had begun to get up, disappointment on his features, but at Cas' protest began he froze and stared with hope. "Besides," whispered Cas, "If he tries anything, is he really gonna overpower me?" Hurriedly he continued to make the meal, throwing ingredients together in an attempt to finish it quickly.

Ade bit his lip at Cas’ words, shaking his head and shooting him a filthy look. He begged with his eyes for Cas to back down and let the guy leave, but he held fast to his position, and Ade couldn’t argue with his last point. “Alright, sit down.” He groaned at Bernie, pulling out another beer and starting to chug it down as he tried to forget the thought of the dirty old man sitting across from him. “But you leave as soon as you’ve finished eating, understand me?” He propped himself up against the wall near the oven, keeping a close eye on the homeless guy as Cas continued to cook. Ohh, you’re sleeping on the couch tonight, Mr. Petar, he thought bitterly as he took another sip.

Cas finished making the meal, a gooey mess of what looked like chips, steamed vegetables that were a vast array of colors, and melted cheese sitting off to the side for dipping. He had crushed a few of the eyeballs, and now it looked like a blackish-blue mess next to the cheese. Also for dipping, but covered with paprika and red pepper flakes to spice them up.

He proudly sat back, the homeless guy not realizing it was eyeballs, and alien vegetables, and that the chips weren't tortillas, but made of an alien wheat from an ancient planet nearly seven galaxies away from the milky way. Cas watched the man dig into the food, shoveling mouthfuls of it into his mouth, "This is great!" He exclaimed, "Thank you, Cassidy!" He nodded vigorously, continuing to eat. Cas let out an airy chuckle, and turned to look at Adrian.

"He appreciates my food." Cas crossed his arms, smiling and watching Bernie. When the homeless guy was done, he immediately got up, thanking them over and over again. Cas waved to him, saying maybe he would see him soon. Bernie left very quickly, trying not to impose Adrian's wrath. Once he was gone, Cas picked up the plate and washed it, imitating Adrian and putting it away. "Hmph." He let out, loudly, mockingly towards Ade..

Even after the guy left, Ade stood leaning against the wall, his arms tightly folded. “He was starving, of course he ate it. Even I ate your food when I was starving.” He growled, eyes still narrowed in frustration. He took a cloth and started wiping the countertop down, even though Bernie hadn’t dropped a spot of food on it. He wiped the seat down as well, throwing the dishcloth in the sink and grabbing his beer. “You shouldn’t have brought him inside the house. Or, at least, you could’ve asked permission from me. I could’ve given you money for him.” He said, stalking back towards the living area and stroppily throwing himself on the sofa.

Cassidy glared at him as he stalked away, and followed him. "Why do I have to ask permission to feed a homeless man?" He challenged, walking in front of the TV with his hands on his hips, "What does all this mean?" He waved his arms about, pointing at various items around the room. Materials over virtuous deeds? There's no sense in that. "Are you more concerned over your material possessions than the welfare of a fellow human being?" He obviously didn't understand yet another social convention on Earth. That you didn't pluck random homeless guys off the street, and you couldn't help them all- especially by yourself. "I know what it's like to truly be starving. I've gone six days without food before." He put a hand on his heart, "It's awful, Ade." Cas looked quite upset, but not angry anymore. Just heartfelt concern and genuineness rung in his tone.

"Cassidy..." Adrian started, his voice becoming softer. He reached over and pulled Cas into an embrace on the sofa next to him, kissing him as ways of an apology for his harsh words. "I know what you're saying, and I know what you were trying to do, but that just wasn't the way to do it. You can't invite every homeless guy on the street to dinner. Even if you filled this apartment with homeless people, there'd be thousands more still outside. It's just not a simple thing you can fix like that." He wrapped his arms around the lieutenant, pressing him against his chest.

Cassidy sighed, "But you can help everyone you can..." He whispered the words, burying his face in Adrian's shirt, "I couldn't have just left him out there..."

He squeezed the other back, sighing as he questioned: "We going anywhere tonight, Ade?" He leaned back, a slight sense of adventure sparkling in his eyes, "Anywhere cool to explore today?"

Ade cuddled Cas close, leisurely stroking his dark hair with one hand. “Nope. I was just going to spend the evening relaxing with my boyfriend on the couch.” His eyelids closed and he rested his head on the back of the couch, pretending to be sleepy so Cassidy wouldn’t want to go out. “I’m tired. Besides, babe, I’ve had three beers already. Unless you can think of anywhere you wanna go that’s near us, I can’t drive us anywhere ‘till the morning.” His breathing became deeper as he started to relax, and he mumbled sleepily, stifling a yawn. “We’ll go on an adventure tomorrow. I already have somewhere in mind for us to go.”

Cassidy smiled, nuzzling his face into Adrian's chest, "Okay, Ade." He basked in the moment for a little while, and then asked, "What sort of adventure?" He expression turned excited, with a hint of devilish anticipation, "And- I can drive us places." He offered with a grin, "I can navigate and pilot a space ship- I think a 21st century motor vehicle will be easy."

The Lieutenant sat up, looking at the TV. "This is 2014, right?" He paused, "What stage is American in yet? Like, what's going on?" He glared at a headline, "Ukraine... Oh, that man from Russia- Putin. He causes a ton of trouble this year."

Adrian cocked an eyebrow. “I’ve seen how you “drive”. You’ve given me concussion twice just trying to land a spaceship in a hangar. You’re in no state to drive a car, my car, especially when there are other people about.” He sniffed. “And as for the adventure, I was thinking about going down to the harbour. You know, see the sights, go out for lunch…not to mention, get you some nice, normal earth clothes.” He said, tugging at Cassidy’s shirt. He didn’t mind them so much, but he knew that if Cas was going to fit in during his stay at Earth, he had to at least try and wear some clothes that blended in better. The alien cursive written on almost all of his clothes made him stick out like a sore thumb.

Ade frowned, watching the TV intently with Cas. He nudged him nervously. “A ton of trouble? What do you mean by that…? No, no, nevermind. I don’t want spoilers. He said, shaking his head. He got up and left the room, yawning loudly from both tiredness and boredom - the news was something he hardly ever paid attention to, and he failed to share Cas' reverent enthusiasm in the subject as he padded out towards the bedroom.

When he came back in, he had a stack of papers – printed medical journals - a pen and a highlighter. May as well make a start on these if Cas is so engrossed in the TV, he thought. He sat down next to Cassidy, stretching out and resting the stack on his lap. He slowly started glazing over them, making notes here and there in between sips of his beer, and resting his head on Cas’ shoulder. His face soon became furrowed in confusion as he struggled to keep his eyes open. Soon after the blaring of the TV became unrecognizable to him, as his pen lolled to a stop on his paper and he was overtaken by tiredness, quietly nodding off to sleep on Cas' shoulder without him noticing.

Cas snorted, "You try driving a space ship like that one." He scoffed at Adrian, rolling his eyes, "It was a very old spaceship, unlike the ones I usually. Plus you're entering an atmosphere. You know how meteors become unstable fireballs when they enter Earth's atmosphere? I was piloting a meteor pretty much, and fighting against the changes in temperature, and levels of turbulence, and speed increase as we went. You also have to shift modules controlling pull of gravity as you head further down. You try it- Adrian."

"Harbour... you mean like, with a body of water and fish?" He perked up, grinning, "I love aquatic lifeforms!" He looked down at his shirt, perking an eyebrow, "Well- no one will understand it and just think it's foreign right? No harm done." The alien turned back to the TV, at the mention of some event he remembered, and he became engrossed in it again, not noticing Adrian leave.

Once he returned he noticed, and peered at the papers, "What are those?"

Ade awoke with a start at the sound of Cas’ voice and turned to him, blinking rapidly. “Hmm? Oh. They’re uh…medical journals.” He rubbed his eyes, and stifled a yawn. At the same time, he adjusted how he was sitting, sitting up slightly more straight and pressing his shoulder against Cas’. “It’s a habit I picked up studying at college. The medical industry changes all the time and I’m expected to, you know, stay updated. So I go through them, making notes on how they might affect my job, and stuff…Not to mention, it’s way more interesting than the news.” He said, pointing at the TV, before trying to shake himself into concentrating on an article about chronic dyspnea.

He made a few notes, before feeling his eyelids grow heavy again, the combination of a lot of food and a busy week taking it’s toll. He shook his head, dropping the papers on the floor frustratedly and cuddling up to Cassidy again. He kissed him softly on the head, and mumbled, “God, I’m so damn tired. I kind of wish I was back on your ship so I could sleep 10 hours a day again.” He smirked.

"Sounds riveting." The Lieutenant leaned his head on Adrian's shoulder, closing his eyes with a huff of tiredness. His head became heavy, and rolled back into the couch as he laid there with a content smile spread on his face. "Mm-" He adjusted to the new position, and buried his nose into Adrian's neck.

"Well, we could live together in my time." Cassidy grinned into the shirt, "Go on adventures, to alien supermarkets, and we could rent an apartment on some planet- you could choose." He laughed at the idea, Adrian having to get used to all the new alien ideas and societies, the races and food, the culture. He knew the fantasy would never be taken seriously, but he liked to entertain the idea.

Adrian smirked, hopeful that Cassidy was just joking. “In your dreams, space man. I’m happy enough with what I got here.” He said, cuddling closer still, wrapping his arms around the other and squeezing him tightly. He began planting tiny kisses, starting at Cas’ lips and working his way down his neck, tousling his wispy hair and looking up into his dark hazel eyes as he went.

**********

When he awoke the next morning, Adrian sat up in the bed wearily, a slight headache working it’s way into his head as he realised that he’d probably drunk a little too much the night previous. He groaned quietly to himself, working a hand through his auburn curls as he glanced over to the clock. It was far too early to be getting up on a day off, and he snuggled between the warmth of the sheets, searching for his love between the tangled mess of blanket. Finally his head materialised from around the blankets, somewhere between their two pillows, and he leaned down and kissed the lieutenant’s cheek, “Morning, Cassidy.” He nuzzled his neck and wrapped his arms around his waist, squeezing him into a tight embrace. After a few more moments of sleepy warmth, he said with a deep, tired voice “…What time did you want to go out?”

Cas woke to Adrian's gentle voice and embrace, and nuzzled his pillow with a smile hidden. He felt somnolent, but quite giddy after the night before, and for the plans for the rest of the day, "Mm- Hey, Ade..." Rolling over onto his back he grinned up at his love, wiggling closer into the warm embrace around his waist. "I don't know..." He squeezed Adrian, giggling and wriggling in happiness, "I'm enjoying today so far... Want me to make breakfast for you~?"

Adrian grinned back at the lieutenant’s happy embrace, although with a slight wince as his headache thudded the back of his eyes. He groaned and flopped back down on his own pillow, breaking from the embrace with Cassidy but still holding a hand beneath the sheets. He sighed. “Mm. Yes please…A strong coffee, and…um, whatever else you can rustle up…” He closed his eyes and pressed his face against the pillow, squeezing Cas’ hand and chuckling softy. “Haha…Look who’s got a hangover now. Guess I should’ve followed my own advice, huh?” He took a deep breath, sniffing loudly. “It’s alright, though, I can just suck it up. I’ll be fine by midday.” With that he burrowed under the blankets, turning away from the sun streaming in through the blinds.
