OOC

Hey Glitch, you mentioned that we should create more natural looking borders. But you see the problem with that is politics. We don't have natural looking borders in the real world because of politics. Just take Ohio and Michigan, when they were having their shared border drawn they had a dispute over Toledo, Ohio wanted to have a border that included putting more of the disputed land in Ohio which Michigan disagreed with. But because Ohio was a state at the time the national government sided with them and gave the disputed territory to Ohio, and in order to placate Michigan the U.S. government gave Michigan the peninsula connected to Wisconsin. And so because of politics we ended up with a really weird border for Michigan. You also noted how we have straight borders today. Well there were several reasons for creating much straighter borders but the main ones were the lack of water (which is one of the biggest factors in creating borders) (out west at least) and the better transportation that they had when the west was being settled. Not to mention that straight borders were simply easier to have. So saying that we should create more natural borders sounds nice it doesn't really mesh well with real world historical examples.

I mean in the RP, I am not suggesting that the real United States change its borders. But since this RP is going to include competeing and developing nations natural boundaries will inevitable form the borders, which is how most of the world's borders were formed. the US, and much of the 'new world' have straight lines because they were just cut up and arranged for convenience not through continuous war. Africa is similar and again its the case of a small number of people just deciding them, rather then how they were done in Europe and Asia, and likely North Africa before they were colonised, which was war and some diplomacy battling for every inch of land, but since you then had to defend it natural boundaries formed perminant borders.

I know you mean in the RP but i was just mentioning that often borders can be completely arbitrary for political reasons. Geography plays an extremely important role in creating borders i'm not denying it i'm just saying that there would probably be plenty of that same bizarre borders created from politics.

Have you looked at maps of Europe or Asia? Straight lines almost never exsist, geography affects the movement of culture, people, trade and armies and so controls borders in such a place as war can, even if its not going to be, used to difine them. Yes two nations COULD agree on a straight line border its far more likely they will pick a river close to that location or a line of hills. Something visible is especially useful since GPS and the like dont exsist either. Both nations will be aware that somewhere down the line they might need to defend this land or that they may want to attack, this makes the best deal for both sides a physical boundary as it allows them to feel much safer. Nearly every border in Europe can be atributed to a river, mountain range or forest. In our world new things like craters or radioactive wastes could also act as buffer regions, the wastes could have a straight line border but even then they still would have unique geography encouraging use of that to have a notable border. You have to remember that without such things you could marh out into a field near a border and not know what country your in and accidentally start a war

There are also other reasons to have a straight line border. For one it is easy to mark, normally the straight line border would be in addition to a naturally occurring one but by having a straight line in addition to it actually makes it easier to spot. I'm not saying that we would have straight lines everywhere. I'm not even saying that we would be likely to have one. I was just mentioning why we might have a straight line. Not to mention that even if countries did have borders that looked like straight lines on the map they really weren't, so as for my map depicting a bunch of straight lined borders, in reality they are probably crooked as all get out, due to the difficulty in determining borders without technology. Besides, like I said I was going to fix the map anyway, the counties were just more of a baseline. But then again the geography could have changed drastically after the war.

Also Mojave county is Legion, you really want to war them for it?

(Yes you would win, but thats no justification)

We've been at war with the Legion our entire existence. Our founding was the Second Battle of Hoover Dam, our first soldiers lost in this war were Great Khans, Securitrons, BOS Paladins.

Well I guess that someone becoming either the NCR or Legion would be bound to happen, but I was hoping more smaller factions would pop up first. oh well. it's just that we don't really see what is going on in the other parts of the Wasteland. Well welcome to the Wasteland Boethiah.

I was told to be a democratic NCR by @Pat weeks ago. It just took Waffles a long time to actually accept me into the RP.

No man it's fine, you can be any country you want. It's just like I said I kinda wish that more of the smaller factions or ones we don't hear much about would have popped up. But that's just me. And sure thing Pat.

Also Boethiah can you get me a map of your territory so i can add you to the map?

Well Alaska is extremely far away from the rest of fallout. Not to mention that it was kind of destroyed by the war. So i would advise against it.
