Realistic or Modern OOC: Santa Monica Home for Boys and Girls [Reboot!]

It just occurred to me--A lot of the kids have been here a while, right? I'm gonna try and plot some relationships out if that's alright with everyone!!

I guess that's ok. I kinda like the idea of Felix being the new one.

I know personally I'd prefer if my character (Jack) has no established relationship with anyone cuz I want him to also be fairly new (like here only 1 or 2 days). He also keeps his head low and doesn't really talk to anyone so at least for now, no previous relationships with my character if that's ok.

Coupled with his introvert personality and the fact that he is pretty fresh to the group, I just don't feel it would make any sense yet for him to have any pre-established relationships with any of the other kids.

Evelyn and Asher are the long-term permanent fixtures that have been here for years on years now.

It sounds like Nathan and the Dam sisters have been here some amount of time.

And yeah it looks like Jack has only arrived earlier this week and shut himself away.

It should be interesting, because Felix is far more social than Jack. It might put some pressure on Jack to socialise if the new kid suddenly starts making friends.

Saw your second Nate post so I'm assuming I am good to post mine, so I did. Even if I shouldn't have, not too much happened in my post lol, just more awkwardness and characterization of Jack.

Putting up thoughts even though I'm not up for posting yet.

To start putting together a kind of timeline, I'm gonna say Dez has been here over three months but under a year.

KaiMedia So I think there's two ways to play a Dez-Asher relationship and they both start in the same place: Dez would not like Asher. He's rude and occasionally mean and she reflects that back at him. However, this could have developed (or could develop in the rp) with Dez catching Asher not being a prick. I think it would really confuse her at first but also pique her curiosity. She'd like... have to know more. You know?

As for Dez-Nathan... As his personality states, no one can be upset with Nathan around and that extends to Dez He's super nice and at first she was really suspicious of it but no, he's just a cool dude. Given their age difference, I can see acting kind of sisterly to him? I like the idea of her trying to help him when he gets scared but... really badly. Like he's like "What if this happens?" and she's like "Then I do horrible things to people. I won't let anyone hurt you. Next question."

Miaow First up, Dez-Won. There are two ways to play this and it's either they get along really well or really poorly. Okay actually there's a third where they really dislike each other but keep ending up on the same side of disagreements because they both dislike school (though perhaps for different reasons), adults, and authorities. I think there's a lot of fun to be had there!! It could also be interesting if the age difference is enough that Dez is like "You're basically an adult" towards Haewon!! I also think it's cool that they're both nonbinary

Dez-Minnie!!! Consider. They're friends but Dez sends mixed messages and has an issue with accidentally upsetting her. She's friendly, polite, bubbly, works hard... I can see that clicking with Dez. But also Dez hates touch and she's clingy and Dez probably struggles with appropriate conversation because of their weird-ass family.

Dawnstar Dez-Ev!! I could see a friendship between them, but only if Ev took interest!!

kakemha I can see them working in a way!! Like... the two of them sitting quietly near each other doing their own thing? I don't know how talkative Miya is, but I think the pair could appreciate silences together, absorbed in their own activities, just doing something with someone else nearby? And neither of them are touchy, which is great for the other!!

I'm pretty interested to what you think about Dez and Jack (maybe you missed him maybe you meant to skip him cuz of his personality type so far lol, which I get to an extent).

I know I've set him up to be an introvert and anti-social, so it's safe to assume there might not be anything there unless Dez actively talks to Jack, but I'm still interested to hear your thoughts on a possible dynamic between them.

Interesting possible dynamics though between Dez and the other kids.

I'm also curious as to a Dez-Felix situation, what do you think could be between Dez and the new coming kid.


And just a complete side note, I know I may have mentioned it before, but in terms of the timeline, Jack has only been here for about a few days or two, but has managed to lay low and stay out of the spotlight due to his timid and shy nature lol

mikaluvkitties Evelyn is a odd soul - she much like Asher sources a lot of her weird personality due to being used to and scared of rejection.
Just unlike Asher she isn't hostile with it - Instead she just keeps everyone at an arms length of being friendly, but not friends. She will smile, be kind, but then flake off and do her own thing to not to get too attached because she knows most kids and staff a-like will just move on and forget her anyway. So she tries to fill her life with distractions like meditation, faith, and her plants to avoid forming bonds.
I'm not too sure on the details for Dez, but you listed they really like 'everything computers'. I assume that also extends to games so that's the first place I could see her taking interest and forming a bond. I wouldn't strictly call Ev' a gamer, but she does within moderation enjoy gaming when her schedule permits. Like if there was a spare controller lying around while people are playing in a public space, it might not be uncommon for her to quietly sit down and join - or otherwise quietly sit and watch someone who is playing solo.

Edric Blight Evelyn x Jack meanwhile - Jack's extreme introversion, and Evelyn's policy of keeping everyone at a distance kinda zero out here. For the reasons above she doesn't really approach people for a conversation like that, she watches and just makes sure everyones okay.
What I can imagine might have been a short inreaction Jack's had so far is something on the lines of he's playing some sport by himself in the summer sun, and Ev' brining out a ice-filled drink out and just putting it on the side for him. Very aloofly just making sure he was okay. She does have some 'big sister' attitude towards the younger ones.
