I'm definitely not unmotivated in terms of ideas or from Noragami, it's more on a writing aspect from my own perspective. It's like a dull period sort of thing.
I do have an idea for another character, but it's not an idea I've figured out yet.
It's more like a theory of sorts, but I'm still trying to work out how it would function in Noragami's lore and World technically.
Oh do tell
So you want a Noragami version of Sheogorath mixed with Jekyll and HydeSo, the new character im trying to work out or... More appropriately worded trying to stitch it together since I'm not sure how to make it work.
I had an idea of a god & phantom combination in a singular character. Where the phantom aspect of the character is only active during the 'witching' hour. (Obviously it doesn't necessarily exist in Noragami... Or I don't believe so.) However, the phantom replaces the God between the hours of 2 am to 4 am, but switches back to the God afterwards.
Consider it maybe a kind of curse, or sealing spell used to contain the phantom. I'm not sure, it's something I keep rattling around in my head.
I suppose it could be something similar. So you want a Noragami version of Sheogorath mixed with Jekyll and Hyde
Eh. The concept sounds cool. But sparing a phantom and imprisoning it in your own body sounds really risky for corruption and death. Maybe have it be a God of Fortune with a God of Calamity secret half?I suppose it could be something similar.
It would be the God of Mercy & Serenity, who gave a form of... Well, for lack of a better word, mercy to the phantom in exchange for this Form of seal.

Fair enough.Curses/spells are pretty strange and Noragami introduces them, but explain nothing.
The way I always saw it was Kuro-Kyogi devours all the negative emotions leaving only pride. The Pride left behind isn't in itself negative unless it has something there to cause it to become Toxic.
Arrogancedefine for me toxic pride.
Cause my understanding is pride is just pride What's he proud of? Everything he does?

define for me toxic pride.

But if he's got nothing in him, but pride and only pride then doesn't it equate to arrogance?
it is okay to be proud when you do something to be proud of your work it is toxic when your pride is arrogance and you believe you are the best and you can only ever be the best
i don't think dante means they can only feel pride but the bad and toxic parts have been replaced like a skin graft take out the bad parts and put in healthy bits.

Arrogance is pretty accurate as toxic pride. Essentially the type of pride that would lead them to mistreat, abuse, or take advantage of others. That type of pride is normally acompanied by greed, wrath, etc.
That in itself wouldn't make him toxic, instead of seeing others as lower like he is arrogant instead he would just be proud of his own accomplishments.
basically it is the pride that would actually get you into sin of pride territory that is the bad toxic pride where it inflates your ego to the point you do anything to protect it.Yes. And he's proud of condemning his poor teacher to hell because it was a work he did =P
'Toxic part' still confuses me. The part that draws phantoms?
But pride alone kinda leads to these sorts of things, because then he'd just always be prideful? Even if he's wrong? Even if he gets an F?

The idea of remoting the toxic part of pride is he will be proud of his grade but not so consumed that he can't accept soemthign bad and work towards bettering it.
again HE HAS MORE EMOTIONS THAN JUST PRIDE
never thought the idea that not all pride is bad would be a hard concept
news flash any emotion in excesses can lead humans to do very bad things
love kindness hospitality all can cause humans to destroy themselves or others
You know not everyoen wants to write a 20 page explanation of their actions when there are more important interactions going on in truth your harping on this minor thing is just as annoying as the pervious moral debate. The idea was simple she removed the arrogance and left just normal pride would you liek that stretched out to 80k words to make sure it is 100% clear?lol, that isn't what Dante wrote though "Removed all emotions, so nothing but pride"
People are a balance of emotions. Pride is balanced with humility/modesty. If remove, modesty, what's left is just pride. Pride is a 'sin' because by itself it's just arrogance (which is an abundance of pride). There's not really a "toxic" pride...A person with absolutely no pride is a wimp.
Agreed.
